Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 12/13, 8:22 AM CT
Brian Bannister avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $2.3 million deal with the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Bannister has been just barely good enough to start for Kansas City the past three seasons, but certainly not good enough to draw any fantasy consideration. Expect him to compete and likely secure a starting role for 2010, though he's still unlikely to make any fantasy impact.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 9/12, 11:52 PM CT
The Kansas City Star reports that Brian Bannister (shoulder fatigue) will not pitch again in 2009.

Our View: He last pitched on September 2nd. In 26 starts in 2009, Bannister went 7-12 with a 4.73 ERA.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/10, 1:51 PM CT
According to the Twitter page of the Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton, starting pitcher Brian Bannister will get a second opinion on his fatigued throwing shoulder. Bannister may be done for the season due to the injury.

Our View: Bannister came back and had a pretty nice season for the Royals this year, but it's not looking good for him to return. His shoulder hasn't been improving, but we should know something more definitive after he meets with the second doctor.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/3, 8:55 AM CT
Brian Bannister is dealing with progressively worsening shoulder fatigue, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: He was forced to leave the team's game on Wednesday with the injury. Bannister says it is not a sharp pain, so he does not believe it is serious, but just soreness. He will almost certainly not take his next turn in the rotation.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/2, 4:41 PM CT
Brian Bannister exited Tuesday's start at Oakland in the second inning with an apparent injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Bannister was rocked for three innings in the first inning, and is believed to be dealing with shoulder fatigue. Yasuhiko Yabuta replaced Bannister on the hill.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 8/29, 12:12 AM CT
Brian Bannister allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and a pair of walks over 6.2 innings on Friday. He fanned six but was saddled with his 11th loss of the season as the Tigers doubled up the Royals 6-3.

Our View: Bannister has been brutal in August. He has allowed four or more runs in each of his last five starts and has has allowed seven in three of those. His ERA jumped from 3.59 to 4.50 over that stretch.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/23, 5:35 PM CT
Brian Bannister issued four earned runs on six hits over six innings in Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Twins at Kauffman Stadium. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister was dealt his 10th loss of the season, and is 1-3 with a dismal 7.20 ERA over five starts this month. He is only an option for deeper fantasy leagues right now.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/17, 11:03 PM CT
Brian Bannister was roughed up for seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits over seven innings in Monday's 8-7 loss at Chicago. He had three walks and six strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: The Royals tied the game at seven in the top of the eighth inning, allowing Bannister to take a no-decision rather than a loss for his dismal performance. He is winless over his last three starts, and gave up seven runs in each outing over the span.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 8/12, 10:25 PM CT
Brian Bannister got shelled on Wednesday after allowing five runs in the first inning to the Twins. He finished the day with seven earned in six innings and allowed nine hits and a walk in the 7-1 loss.

Our View: Bannister has now allowed seven runs in each of his last two starts. With the two miscues his ERA ballooned from a very respectable 3.59 to a disappointing 4.26.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 8/7, 10:37 PM CT
Brian Bannister was lit up for seven earned runs on seven hits over four innings in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Athletics at Kauffman Stadium. He had three walk and one strikeout.

Our View: Bannister now has a losing record at 7-8 following his nightmarish outing. He was a grave disappointment after hurling seven scoreless innings at Tampa Bay in his last start, and looks to remain an unstable fantasy option.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/2, 3:53 PM CT
Brian Bannister was superb against Tampa Bay on Sunday, shutting out the Rays through seven off five hits and zero walks with seven strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister got back to .500 with the win at 7-7. He's been very solid since the end of June, but remember that he can sometimes get himself into trouble when he's not on his best control given that he usually pitches to contact.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/31, 9:39 AM CT
According to the South Florid Sun-Sentinel, the Royals rejected overtures from the Marlins for Brian Bannister.

Our View: Interest around Bannister has swelled lately, but it appears the Royals aren't willing to just give him up. In addition to the Marlins, the Yankees were involved at one point as well, but the deal fell apart due to money issues. Bannister is only 28 and is signed through 2012. He'll earn just $1.7 million this season and as a cheap, reliable option the Royals likely won't move him unless someone blows them away with an offer.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 7/22, 11:18 PM CT
Brian Bannister was tagged for four earned runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Angels at Kauffman Stadium. He had no walks and five strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Bannister had a tough night on the hill, and was dealt a no-decision. He allowed two or less earned runs in each of his previous four starts, and should be able to bounce back fine.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/17, 11:46 PM CT
Brian Bannister pitched pretty well on Friday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Royals fell to the Rays by a score of 8-7. Bannister went five innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking four and striking out three.

Our View: Bannister should have gotten the win tonight, as his offense gave him plenty of runs, but his bullpen let him down. He wasn't dominating, but he gave his team a chance, and that's all you can ask. He is still a decent fantasy option, but don't expect the wins to come rolling in while he is in Kansas City.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/10, 9:36 PM CT
Brian Bannister pitched well in tonight's 1-0 loss at Boston, as he only allowed one earned run on three hits over 7.2 innings. He issued four walks with seven strikeouts.

Our View: It is a shame that Bannister is forced to take his seventh loss of the season tonight due to no support from his teammates. He was dealt a loss in four of his last five starts, despite allowing two or less earned runs four times over the span. His fantasy stock would be higher if he pitched for a better team than Kansas City (37-49).
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 7/5, 5:36 PM CT
Brian Bannister only surrendered two earned runs on five hits over six innings in Sunday's 6-3 win over the White Sox at Kauffman Stadium. He had two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister evened his record to 6-6, and trimmed his ERA to 3.87. He snapped a three-game losing streak, and allowed two or less earned runs in five of his last six starts. He should be employed in fantasy lineups for his next outing.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/30, 11:39 PM CT
Brian Bannister only issued two runs (one earned) on six hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Twins at Kauffman Stadium. He had one walk and fired six strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister pitched well, and it is a shame he is forced to take a loss due to poor run support from his teammates. He now has a losing record at 5-6, and has lost in three straight starts.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 6/25, 4:07 PM CT
Brian Bannister was lit up for five earned runs on six hits over six innings in Thursday's 5-4 loss at Houston. He issued two walks with three strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Bannister is now 5-5 with a 4.17 ERA. He gave up two or less earned runs in each of his previous three starts and is worth keeping active in AL-only leagues though.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 6/20, 8:43 PM CT
Brian Bannister was solid again on Saturday, but he was hit with the loss as the Royals fell to the Cardinals 7-1. Bannister went eight innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out four.

Our View: Matching up against Cards' ace Chris Carpeter is never good for opposing starters, and Bannister found out tonight that you have to be nearly perfect to win that matchup. Nothing to be disappointed about for Bannister, as he remains a solid fantasy starter. He should be owned in most leagues, so if he is available you should give him a look.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/14, 7:46 PM CT
Brian Bannister was excellent on Sunday as the Royals pounded the Reds by a score of 7-1. Bannister went eight innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Bannister was stellar on this hill today, and he has turned himself into a pretty solid pitching option. He won't strike many guys out, but he figures to be fairly consistent in most of his starts.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/24, 3:54 PM CT
Brian Bannister moved to 4-1 on the season with his win Sunday at St. Louis. Bannister went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out four.

Our View: Bannister has been solid since being called up earlier this year, and it this point he should probably be owned in most leagues. He has never been a strikeout pitcher, but he can provide quality starts to a fantasy owner.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/19, 10:11 PM CT
Brian Bannister struggled on Tuesday against the Indians, but his team bailed him out of a loss with their four-run ninth. Bannister went six innings and allowed five runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out four. The Royals won the game 6-5.

Our View: Bannister got hit hard for the first time this season tonight, but overall he has still been very good. He still has some value in mixed leagues, but watch to see if he makes a few more starts like this. If he has a couple bad outings in a row, get rid of him.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/14, 10:56 AM CT
Brian Bannister exited Wednesday's start against the A's due to pain in his right shoulder, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined, but he expects to make his next turn in the rotation May 19 versus the Indians. He is 3-1 over five starts, with a solid 1.80 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/7, 4:11 PM CT
Brian Bannister continued his dominance on Thursday as the Royals beat the Mariners 3-1. Bannister went six innings and did not allow a run while striking out seven and walking one.

Our View: Bannister has been nearly unhittable since being recalled from Triple-A, and he continued throwing well today. Bannister doubled his strikeout total in today's outing, and if he strikes hitters out his value will be very high. Right now he is a must-have in AL-only leagues for sure and is probably a must-pickup in mixed leagues as well.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 4/27, 10:17 PM CT
Brian Bannister was exceptional for the second straight outing as he led the Royals to a 7-1 win over the Blue Jays on Monday. He walked six, but only allowed one hit and one earned run while improving to 2-0.

Our View: Bannister is looking like a hot pickup at the moment, but we recall his hot start in 2008 which was followed by a mostly poor season. Still, he appears to be worth the risk and he is not in any danger of losing his spot in the rotation despite starting the season in the minors.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/22, 9:26 PM CT
Brian Bannister was masterful in his first start since being recalled from Triple-A, throwing six innings of shutout ball. He walked two and struck out one in the Royals 2-0 win over the Indians.

Our View: Bannister was very good tonight, as he out-dueled reigning Cy Young winner Cliff Lee. Bannister is going to be in the Royals rotation for the foreseeable future, and he is worth a look in AL-only leagues. It may be wise to give him another start or two before picking him up.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 4/21, 10:36 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that the Royals have recalled Brian Bannister from Triple-A Omaha. Bannister will take the roster spot vacated by Doug Waechter, who was placed on the 15-day DL. Bannister will start Wednesday night's game against Cleveland.

Our View: Bannister struggled mightily during the spring, and was subsequently sent to the minors to work on his stuff. He was working on a nine inning scoreless streak in Omaha upon his promotion. He is still not much of a fantasy option unless he comes out on fire for the Royals.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 3/14, 7:38 PM CT
Brian Bannister took another beating on Saturday when he allowed six runs in 4.2 innings to the Diamondbacks. He gave up nine hits, including a home run, a walk, and struck out two.

Our View: Bannister has not performed well this spring, but there's little indication to suggest he won't make the opening day roster. Regardless, he serves little purpose in fantasy leagues.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 3/9, 7:49 PM CT
Brian Bannister got roughed up a bit by the Cubs on Monday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over three innings.

Our View: Bannister's ERA was near six last year, so starts like this certainly aren't encouraging.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 2/28, 8:51 PM CT
Brian Bannister was perfect for the Royals on Saturday in his two inning start.

Our View: Bannister isn't expected to have a lot of fantasy value playing for the Royals in 2009 after going 9-16 in 32 starts with an ERA near six in 2008. He's still worth keeping an eye on, as he pitched well in 2007.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 2/4, 6:46 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Brian Bannister anticipates a bounceback season similar to that of Zack Greinke's bounceback after his poor second season. For the first time in his career, Bannister has worked through the offseason with a personal trainer and is reportedly in the best shape of his career.

Our View: Bannister finished third in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2007, so his 9-16 record last season was a disappointment. Bannister has the potential to be a viable fantasy pitcher. After his solid start last season, he absolutely tanked as the year wore on. Perhaps his offseason workouts will prevent him from doing so again in 2009.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 2/3, 10:22 PM CT
The Kansas City Royals signed Brian Bannister to a one-year $1.7 million dollar contract, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Bannister struggled last year, going 9-16 with a 5.76 ERA last season. The Royals are hoping he can return to his 2007 form when he won 12 games and had an ERA of 3.87.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/24, 9:45 PM CT
Brian Bannister won his ninth game of the year Wednesday night against the Tigers. In six innings Bannister surrendered seven hits but didn't give up a run in the Royals' 10-4 win.

Our View: It was a good game for Bannister but it has been a rough season for the right-hander. Bannister has an ERA of 5.76 and has lost 16 games.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/7, 7:56 PM CT
Royals pitcher Brian Bannister has not won a game in 12 starts, but the team thinks he has gotten better in the last eight, according to Royals.com. "When he was going through the bad streak, he had multiple bad innings and multiple bad starts. He stopped that as of probably four outings ago," Royals manager Trey Hillman said.

Our View: Hey, he hasn't won in 12 starts, but it's good to know he's getting closer! No matter the spin the Royals try to throw on it, Bannister has been awful, and fantasy owners know better than to use him.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/4, 8:19 PM CT
Brian Bannister allowed four runs on Thursday, though only one run was earned in his seven inning no-decision against the Athletics.

Our View: This was Bannister's second straight "quality start" after allowing 18 runs over 16 innings in his previous three outings, but he is still not someone you want in your lineup if you are looking to make a late season push given his 14 loses and 5.56 ERA.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/3, 6:25 PM CT
The Royals' and Oakland Athletics game on Wednesday night was postponed because of rain. A doubleheader was scheduled for Thursday at Kauffman Stadium.

Our View: Brian Bannister will start the first game and Kyle Davies the second game. The A's rotation will remain the same. Dana Eveland in the first game and Dan Meyer in the second.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 8/27, 10:39 PM CT
Once again the Royals suffered the disappointing loss, falling 3-2 to the Rangers, and once again the lack of offense leaves the pitching without support. RHP Brian Bannister was the victim this time, going 6 2/3 innings to allow three runs (two earned) on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister moves to 7-14 on the season with a 5.75 ERA. This is his fifth consecutive loss with six losses over his last seven starts. In those seven starts, he has allowed 27 combined earned runs (10 coming in one game versus the Yankees) with the nine homers surrendered over his last four starts serving as a serious worry.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 8/5, 10:24 PM CT
Brian Bannister struggled again on Tuesday night. He allowed six hits and three runs over 4.0 innings against the Red Sox. Bannister owns a 6.23 ERA in four starts since the All-Star break.

Our View: Maybe they should have traded him to the Yankees. Bannister has worked fewer than six innings in six of the last seven starts and shouldn't be trusted in any fantasy leagues.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/25, 11:03 PM CT
Brian Bannister saw his record drop to 7-9 in the Royals 5-3 loss to the Rays. Bannister threw 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.

Our View: This season is a far cry from last year's 3.87 ERA, but tonight's start is an improvement from his past four starts, which had seen him give up 23 earned runs in 19.1 innings.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 7/22, 9:52 AM CT
Manager Trey Hillman stated that Brian Bannister's spot in the starting rotation is safe for now despite his 7-8 record and 5.49 ERA, according to the Kansas City Star. Hillman said, "We’ll continue to evaluate it. He knows he needs to be better. It’s been discussed. There’s a plan to help him get there. We’ll see how he does in his next outing."

Our View: Bannister has allowed 24 earned runs over his last four starts. Hillman still has faith in him, but fantasy owners should not at this point of the season.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/4, 7:46 PM CT
Brian Bannister was rocked for seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over five innings in Friday's 11-2 loss to the upstart Rays at Tropicana Field, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Our View: Bannister slips to 7-8, with a 5.15 ERA. He is 2-2 over his last four starts, and has given up 13 earned runs over his last two.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 6/23, 10:26 PM CT
Brian Bannister was wild Monday, issuing a career-high six walks, but he didn't give up an earned run over seven innings in a victory over Colorado.

Our View: This is just the second time all year Bannister has allowed more than two free passes, so the control issues certainly cropped out of nowhere. He can often be hit-or-miss because of his inability to miss bats, making Bannister a risky mixed league option.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 6/18, 10:08 PM CT
The Royals pulled a much-needed 3-2 win over the Cardinals tonight led by the arm of RHP Brian Bannister . Bannister pitched seven innings to allow two runs (both earned) on nine hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Clearly Bannister falls short of the defintion of dominating, but this brings him to a record of 6-6 overall and 2-0 in June.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 6/12, 4:39 PM CT
Brian Bannister used a career-high 127 pitches to make it through seven innings against the Rangers on Thursday as he allowed four runs in a no-decision.

Our View: Bannister throws about as hard as a middle school phenom, but that doesn't mean we feel comfortable with him throwing that many pitches. Watch his control the next couple of times out because if he is fatigued and doesn't have it, he could get crushed.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/1, 4:15 PM CT
Brian Bannister pitched into the eighth to help Kansas City beat the Cleveland Indians 6-1 on Sunday. Bannister gave up five hits, walked one and struck out four to earn his first win in four starts.

Our View: Bannister was working on a shutout when Grady Sizemore homered with one out in the eighth. The Royals right-hander is a solid option against teams he's had success. Bannister is 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts against the Indians.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/27, 2:47 PM CT
Brian Bannister has slipped to 4-6 this season, and will be looking to get on track tonight against the Twins, according to MLB.com. He has a good chance to succeed, as he went 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA over three starts against the Twins last season.

Our View: Bannister tied for a season-worst seven runs allowed in his last outing (against Boston), and surrendered at least five runs in four of his last five starts. He threw nine scoreless innings against Minnesota back on April 13 however, and tonight is seemingly the right time to remove him from your bench and give him a start.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/22, 4:48 PM CT
Brian Bannister fell to 4-6 thanks to the 12 hits and seven runs he allowed to the Red Sox over 5.1 innings.

Our View: After starting year so expertly, everything has fallen apart for Bannister. In three of his last five outings he has permitted at least six runs, and honestly, unless his control is spot on, he's going to continue to have outings like this one. Bannister is nothing more than a lower end option in mixed leagues despite last year's performance.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/17, 9:16 PM CT
Brian Bannister gave up six runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings of work falling to the Marlins 7-3 on Saturday night. The right-hander walked two and struck out five in the loss.

Our View: Bannister was strong in the early innings, but gave up two runs in the fourth and then fell apart in the seventh.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/11, 3:58 PM CT
Brian Bannister snapped out of his recent skid by tossing eight shutout innings against the Orioles on Sunday. He allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out five. Bannister improved to 4-4 with a 3.75 ERA. He earned a loss in each of his previous four starts.

Our View: You take the good, you take the bad, you take 'em both and there you have a decent fantasy pitcher in Brian Bannister. Fantasy owners got a little too excited about his hot start, and we anticipate a lot of ups and downs as the season progresses.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 5/7, 10:18 AM CT
The Royals goosed their run-starved attack for an early lead Tuesday night before Brian Bannister gave it all back and more in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium, according to the KC Star. It came down to this: Bannister couldn’t retire Garret Anderson in RBI situations. Anderson hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning and delivered two-out RBI singles in the fifth and seventh.

Our View: Bannister is never going to be an ace of a staff, but he is a smart pitcher and will make the necessary adjustments to be a quality arm in most situations. The problem is he will bomb occasionally, and when he doesn't -- there is no guarantee he will get any run support.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/6, 10:05 PM CT
Brian Bannister dropped his fourth straight decision on Tuesday night. He served up 13 hits and five runs over 6.2 innings against the Angels. Bannister walked two, struck out three, and tossed a wild pitch. He has now allowed five homers over his last three outings.

Our View: That brilliant 3-0 start is beginning to look like an aberration. Bannister had never allowed as many as 13 hits in a game before, and it may be time for his adjustments. Fantasy owners certainly shouldn't give up on him, but we all need to look back at his 2007 digits for a reality check.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/6, 3:17 PM CT
Brian Bannister started off 3-0 this season, but has lost three straight decisions since then, and will try to get back in the win column tonight when the Royals host the Angels, according to MLB.com. This will be his first career start against the Angels.

Our View: Over the three losses, he has surrendered 14 earned runs (with four homers) over a mere 14.2 innings of work. He only allowed three runs (two earned) over his first three starts of the season. His WHIP remains solid at 1.07, and he only issued eight walks over 35.2 innings. Give him another chance tonight to get back on track.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/30, 10:59 PM CT
Brian Bannister lost his third straight game on Wednesday as he suffered through his worst outing of the season as he permitted seven runs in just three innings to the Rangers to fall to 3-3.

Our View: Bannister was pounded all outing as he permitted seven hits, three of which left the yard. Face it, Bannister is nowhere near as good as he was at the start of the season, though even after this beating he still owns a 4.04 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. There is little reason to believe he will be able to maintain even those numbers the rest of the season, but that doesn't mean he won't have some value if used properly.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 4/24, 11:50 PM CT
Brian Bannister lost his second straight outing on Thursday by giving up only two earned runs over 6.2 innings to the Indians.

Our View: Bannister is still sitting pretty with a 2.48 ERA and stellar 0.89 WHIP, and let's be fair, he only allowed two runs in another fantastic outing so cut him some slack with the loss as it wasn't his fault.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/18, 11:55 PM CT
Brian Bannister had his worst outing of the season as he fell to 3-1 thanks to allowing five runs in five innings to the A's. Bannister walked only one batter on the night, but he also had only one K as he permitted nine hits.

Our View: Bannister isn't anywhere near as good a hurler as he has been in the early going, so it's not surprising to see him struggle a bit tonight. Look for more uneven work from Bannister moving forward as he will struggle when his control is even slightly off.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 4/14, 3:48 PM CT
Brian Bannister shares American Player of the Week honors with Seattle outfielder Raul Ibanez, according to the AP. Bannister went 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA for the upstart Royals, and memorably gave up just one unearned run and three hits, while throwing a complete game against the Twins on Sunday. Ibanez blasted four home runs and collected 11 RBI over seven games to earn a share of the award.

Our View: Bannister is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA for the season, and his fantasy stock should continue to rise.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 4/13, 6:16 PM CT
Brian Bannister improved to 3-0 after tossing a complete game against the Twins on Sunday. He held the AL Central rival to three hits and one unearned run. Bannister walked one, struck out three, hit a batter, and saw his ERA fall to 0.86.

Our View: Wow. Bannister flew under the radar a bit during his solid rookie campaign, but people are definitely noticing Floyd's kid now. He's a smart pitcher who clearly knows how to get guys out.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 4/8, 12:02 PM CT
Brian Bannister looks to build upon his impressive first start of the season today against the Yankees, as he threw seven scoreless innings against the Tigers at Comerica Park, according to MLB.com. He could move to 2-0 with the home crowd behind him, but his ERA won't likely remain untouched against the Yankees, especially since he surrendered two homers in both career at-bats against Alex Rodriguez.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/2, 2:55 PM CT
Brian Bannister was dominant on the mound against Detroit on Wednesday, as he held the team scoreless over seven innings, with only two hits allowed, and four strikeouts and no walks. That was a great showing for the Royals' number two starter, as he opens the season at 1-0 and an untouched ERA.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 3/17, 5:53 PM CT
Brian Bannister fell to 0-2 this spring, as he allowed three runs on six hits over five innings of work against Oakland, with one walk and one strikeout. He is expected to be the Royals number two starter in the rotation, and hopefully he can pick up a win before the end of spring training.

Brian Bannister returned to action on Sunday after missing the previous three days due to the flu and an eye injury. “Two days ago,” he tells the Kansas City Star, “I had fever and chills and a bad headache. I was having cramps. Aches and pains. I had everything. I had no energy. I was as sick as I’ve ever been. The last day, it’s just been stomach cramps. But physically, I feel fine now. I’ll throw today. I want to get right back on track.” Bannister is lined up to be the Royals No. 2 starter this year, and he could be a decent back-end addition in larger combo leagues.
