Lenny DiNardo was rocked for seven runs (five earned) on six hits over one inning in Friday's 10-7 loss at Minnesota. He had two walks and no strikeouts.

Lenny DiNardo was lit up for eight earned runs on 10 hits over five innings in Monday's 12-9 win over the Red Sox at Kauffman Stadium. He issued six walks with no strikeouts.

Our View: This was a dreadful performance for DiNardo, but the Royals scored enough runs for him to end the night with a no-decision. He gave up 12 earned runs over his last two starts this month.

MLB.com is reporting that Royals' pitcher Lenny DiNardo will start on Wednesday in place of Bruce Chen. Chen will be moved to the bullpen, and DiNardo is expected to remain in the rotation for the rest of the season.

Our View: DiNardo wasn't bad in his first start of 2009 on Thursday, and he has to be better than Bruce Chen. He was successful in the minors this season, but any fantasy value he has is limited to extremely deep AL-only leagues, if at all.

Lenny DiNardo could have been worse in Thursday's spot start. He allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He fanned four but did not factor in the decision of the 7-4 win over the Tigers.

Our View: This was DiNardo's first start of 2009, and while holding a first place club to just two runs is impressive, he did allow ten baserunners in just five innings. The pitching starved Royals may give him a chance to remain in the rotation the rest of the season though.

Lenny DiNardo has been promoted by the Royals from Triple-A Omaha, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: DiNardio was 10-5 with a 3.32 ERA over 29 games (23 starts) for Omaha, and will make a spot-start Thursday against the Tigers, pushing Zack Greinke back a day. He is just worth a look for deeper fantasy leagues.

DiNardo worked 4 2/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday in relief of Colby Lewis, who will head to the bullpen. On the season, DiNardo has a 1.83 ERA and 0.97 WHIP.
