Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 10/4, 7:31 PM CT
Felix Hernandez earned his 19th win of the season with a 4-3 nail-biter against the Rangers on Sunday. He allowed three runs (two earned) on just three hits and a walk over 6.2 innings and fanned six.

Our View: King Felix ends the year 19-5 with a sparkling 2.49 ERA and 217 strikeouts. If it weren't for Zach Greinke, he'd likely be the favorite for AL Cy Young. His 19 wins ties him with three other players for the major league lead.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/30, 12:15 AM CT
Felix Hernandez only issued two earned runs on seven hits over 7.2 innings in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Athletics at Safeco Field. He had four walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: The elite hurler is 6-0 over his last seven starts, and allowed two or less earned runs five times over the span.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/24, 9:16 PM CT
Felix Hernandez made his case for the AL Cy Young on Thursday as he picked up his 17th win of the season in the Mariners' 5-4 win over the Blue Jays. Hernandez went eight innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits while walking two and striking out 11.

Our View: Hernandez is making a late run at the award, and his 11 K's tonight will surely help his case. A 17-5 record on a mediocre team like the Mariners is something that can't be ignored, so expect to hear his name quite a bit when it comes to award time.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 9/21, 12:49 PM CT
The Red Sox will reportedly make another run at acquiring Mariners ace Felix Hernandez this offseason, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: They don't believe the Mariners would be able to meet Hernandez's long-term price tag, which is strange, considering how many bad big contracts the team has doled out in recent seasons. When you view the rest of the major leagues as your farm system, though, conclusions like this are drawn. Expect Hernandez to remain a Mariner.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/13, 11:16 PM CT
Felix Hernandez shut out the Rangers for seven innings on Sunday night. He earned his 15th win of the season by scattering four hits and a walk, and fanned five in the 5-0 victory.

Our View: There's lots of talk about CC Sabathia for the AL Cy Young, but how can anyone overlook what King Felix is doing in Seattle? He's now 15-5 with a 2.52 ERA and has struck out 193 batters in 207.1 innings.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/2, 8:28 PM CT
Felix Hernandez earned his 14th win with a 3-0 defeat of the Angels on Wednesday. He tossed eight shutout frames and allowed just four hits and three walks while fanning six.

Our View: King Felix now has seven straight quality starts and is sporting a 14-5 record to compliment his sterling 2.65 ERA this season. He'll be in the Cy Young conversation this offseason.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/29, 12:03 AM CT
Felix Hernandez was good enough to get the job done on Friday. He won his 13th game of the season with a three-run, five-hit performance against the Royals. He fanned six and walked one in the 6-3 win.

Our View: King Felix has had better games, but he was rewarded with the victory anyway. The win was his first since August 1st but he has 40 strikeouts over 40 innings since that date.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/23, 2:54 PM CT
Felix Hernandez couldn't win without his best stuff on Sunday, as he allowed nine hits and six runs in six innings, as the Mariners lost 6-1 in Cleveland.

Our View: The effort dropped King Felix to 12-5 on the season. After allowing just one run and striking out 19 in his previous two efforts, expect him to bounce back next time out.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/19, 9:48 AM CT
After many teams tried to acquire him before last month's non-waivers trading deadline, the Seattle Mariners would be open to giving Felix Hernandez a contract extension, according to Fox Sports.

Our View: Hernandez has had a difficult time staying healthy in his five year career to this point, but has done so this season and been one of the best pitchers in the American League. Even though he is just 23 years old, he has gone 12-4 with a 2.66 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 2009.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/18, 9:14 PM CT
Felix Hernandez only surrendered one earned run on five hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 5-3 loss at Detroit. He had one walk and fired nine strikeouts.

Our View: King Felix enjoyed another strong outing, but was forced to take a no-decision. He has only allowed one earned run over his last two starts (14 innings), and has 19 strikeouts over the span.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/13, 1:11 AM CT
Felix Hernandez tossed seven shutout innings and allowed just six hits and four walks in the Mariners' dramatic 14-inning 1-0 walk-off winner. He fanned ten White Sox in the contest.

Our View: King Felix is having his most dominant season yet. He has a quality start in every August outing and the dominant right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.72 with Wednesday's performance.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/3, 11:03 AM CT
The Seattle Times is reporting that the Mariners nixed a potential three-way deal that would have sent Felix Hernandez to Boston, with Mariners' prospects Phillipe Aumont, Brandon Morrow, and Carlos Triunfel going to San Diego, and Padres' slugger Adrian Gonzalez moving to Seattle.

Our View: Wow. This would have been the blockbuster of all blockbusters had it gone through. The Mariners probably made the smart move by not going through with the deal here, as giving up Hernandez, Morrow, Aumont, and Triunfel essentially for Adrian Gonzalez is too steep a price to pay.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/1, 10:57 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed two earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Saturday's 7-2 win at Texas. He had four walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez collected his team-leading 12th win, and bounced back well from his last outing when he was rocked for seven earned runs over 5.2 innings against Toronto.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/31, 11:36 AM CT
According to ESPN.com, the Mariners have rejected offers from six different teams for starter Felix Hernandez.

Our View: The M's lost Jarrod Washburn today, but they aren't crazy enough to try and swap King Felix. He's still only 23-years-old and is having arguably his best season of his career. He's signed though 2011, but the Mariners would be wise to try and lock him up long-term in the next year or so.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/28, 9:04 AM CT
Felix Hernandez had his streak of 11-straight quality starts snapped on Monday when he gave up seven runs off eleven hits and one walk with just two strikeouts in 5.2 innings against Toronto.

Our View: Hernandez dropped to 11-4 with the loss. Nothing to read into here besides an ace pitcher just simply not having his stuff for one night. Go right back to playing him his next time out and hope that he gets back on track to posting the dominant performances he's put up all year long.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/22, 9:26 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was in control from the hill in Wednesday's 2-1 win at Detroit, as he only allowed one earned run on six hits over seven innings. He had one walk and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: The elite hurler has collected a win in three straight starts, and has 11 wins for the season - currently tying him for the AL lead. Tonight's victory also marks the 50th of his career.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/17, 9:49 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was outstanding again on Friday night as the Mariners beat the Indians 6-2. Hernandez went eight innings and allowed two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out eight. He is now 10-3.

Our View: King Felix has taken the next step this season, and he has blossomed into one of the better fantasy pitchers in the game. As long as he stays healthy, Hernandez is a good bet for dominance every time out.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/9, 11:38 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was in control from the hill in Thursday's 3-1 win over Texas at Safeco Field, as he only issued one earned run on three hits over eight innings. He had two walks and racked up seven strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez earned his team-leading ninth win, and has not taken a loss over his last nine starts. He trimmed his ERA to 2.53 tonight as well, and continues to pitch up to his billing as the ace of the Mariners' staff.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/3, 10:03 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was solid once again on Friday. He allowed just three runs on seven hits and a pair of walks to the Red Sox in his seven innings on the hill. The King struck out seven but did not factor in the decision as the Mariners eventually won 7-6 in 11 innings.

Our View: Felix has now rattled off eight straight quality starts, and looks good in July after finishing up June with a minuscule 0.94 ERA.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/28, 12:15 AM CT
Felix Hernandez improved to 8-3 off another stellar performance on Saturday, giving up a mere on unearned run off just four hits and one walk with nine strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Our View: King Felix has been the best pitcher in baseball over his past seven starts, allowing a minuscule five earned runs with 51 strikeouts over the 53-inning span. Don't expect those type of other-worldly numbers to keep coming, but it looks like the 23-year-old is finally reaching his full potential in his fifth MLB season.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/21, 6:58 PM CT
Felix Hernandez only surrendered two earned runs on six hits over 7.1 innings in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks at Safeco Field.

Our View: Hernandez pitched well, but was unfortunately dealt a no-decision rather than a win as he exited the battle tied at 2-2. He had his two-game winning streak snapped, but has gone six straight starts without taking a loss.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/16, 11:25 PM CT
Felix Hernandez hurled a gem in Tuesday's 5-0 win at San Diego, as he only allowed two hits over nine scoreless innings. He had four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez has been among the most dominant hurlers in the bigs as of late, as he allowed one or less earned runs in each of his last five starts. He is 3-0 over that span, and picked up his first complete game and shutout of 2009 tonight.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/10, 8:44 PM CT
Felix Hernandez scattered nine base runners over seven innings of one-run ball in the Mariners 4-1 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. He struck out five while picking up his sixth victory of the season.

Our View: Hernandez has not allowed more than one earned run in any of his last four starts but he has just two wins to show for it. His ERA is done to 3.06 and he now has 84 strikeouts in 85.1 innings.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/6, 12:32 AM CT
Felix Hernandez only allowed one earned run on six hits over seven innings in Friday's 2-1 loss to Minnesota at Safeco Field. He had three walks and racked up seven strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez pitched well, and it is too bad he had to settle for a no-decision rather than a win. He has only claimed one win over his last seven starts, and his fantasy value continues to be hindered by a poor supporting cast in Seattle.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/30, 11:51 PM CT
Felix Hernandez only allowed one run (not earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings in Saturday's 4-3 win at the Angels. He issued one walk and racked up six strikeouts.

Our View: It was a solid outing for King Felix, but he had to settle for a no-decision rather than a win. The game went 10 innings. He went 4-0 in April, but was not quite as successful in May with a 1-3 mark over six starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/24, 8:06 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk over eight innings Sunday, but only one was earned. The Mariners edged the Giants 5-4 and Felix fanned ten en route to his fifth win.

Our View: King Felix had great fantasy numbers today, due to most of the runs he allowed being deemed unearned, but he's been shaky lately. His ERA for the month of May is over 5.00 and today marked his first win since April 28th.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/20, 12:08 AM CT
Felix Hernandez picked up his third loss of the season on Tuesday as the Mariners fell to the Angels 6-5. Hernandez went 5.2 innings and allowed six runs on 11 hits while walking three and striking out three.

Our View: This was a terrible outing for Hernandez. Not only did he get lit up by the Angels' hitters, but he only managed to strike three out. At least when he pitches poorly he usually still manages to strike guys out, but not tonight. Chalk this one up as a loss Felix owners, and hope he comes out ready to go in his next start.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/14, 3:46 PM CT
Felix Hernandez hurled seven scoreless innings with four hits allowed in Thursday's 3-2 loss at Texas. He issued two walks with six strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez had a strong outing, but unfortunately was dealt a no decision due to poor run support from his teammates. He has not claimed a win over his last three starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/11, 11:52 AM CT
Felix Hernandez stated that he is fine physically after being rocked for six runs in his last start Saturday against the Twins, according to the Everett Herald. He said, "I am fine. No problems. I made a couple mistakes."

Our View: The Mariners' ace hurler is expected to be ready to go for his next scheduled start Friday against the Red Sox. He should remain penciled into fantasy lineups.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/9, 11:24 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was roughed up by the Twins on Saturday as he allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks over just four innings. He only struck out two as the Mariners got pounded 9-6.

Our View: King Felix has now lost two starts in a row after beginning the season 4-0. His ERA jumped to 4.09 and he's been looking increasingly human this month. He also allowed two homers in Saturday's start, which was a rarity in April.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/5, 12:09 AM CT
Felix Hernandez was hit with his first loss of the year on Monday, going six innings and allowing six runs on ten hits while striking out nine.

Our View: King Felix has been phenomenal so far in 2009, so this should be a very rare occurrence. As long as he is healthy, Hernandez is a top flight fantasy pitcher. Don't expect too many of these outings the rest of the year, but even the best are off sometimes.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/28, 11:15 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was brilliant on Tuesday, fanning nine in eight innings and picking up his fourth win of the season. The Mariners split a double-header with the White Sox and won game two 9-1 behind Hernandez's gem.

Our View: King Felix is starting to live up to his nickname. He allowed just four hits and a walk on Tuesday and is now 4-0 with a 2.38 ERA on the season while striking out more than a batter per inning.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/23, 9:02 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was flat out dominant on Thursday as he shut down a potent Tampa Bay offense in the Mariners' 1-0 nail-biter. He allowed four hits and three walks over seven innings and fanned seven. He's now 3-0 on the season.

Our View: Felix lowered his ERA to 3.10 on the season and continues to strikeout a batter per inning. He is beginning to look like an ace again, but beware he tends to have Jekyll and Hyde seasons.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/18, 12:05 AM CT
Pitcher Felix Hernandez improved to 2-0 with a win over the Tigers on Friday night. He allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings. Hernandez also walked one, struck out six, and hit a batter.

Our View: It wasn't the prettiest line, but we'll take it. Hernandez couldn't buy a win in 2008, and we'll take any one we can get this time around.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/11, 7:29 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was not nearly as sharp Saturday as he was on Opening Day. The King allowed five runs on seven hits ans two walks over five innings and was given a no decision in the Mariners' 8-5 win over the A's.

Our View: Hernandez was knocked around, but he did manage to fan eight in his five innings. At least fantasy owners got to take one positive away from his start. He should be better than this in the future.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/6, 9:49 PM CT
Felix Hernandez needed only 97 pitches to get through eight innings as the Mariners beat the Twins 6-1 on Monday. He allowed five hits, three walks, and one run, while striking out six hitters.

Our View: Hernandez is just 23 and the best is yet to come. He was unlucky with a 9-11 record last season, but his stuff is still electric. As long as the Mariners can provide him with average run support, he should be a fantasy ace in 2009.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/1, 7:13 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was far from sharp on Wednesday, allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings. He was also named the Mariner's Opening Day starter for the second consecutive year. Rough timing.

Our View: Felix has been dreadful this spring and fantasy owners are hoping this isn't one of his patented down years. It might be worth your while to see how he fares in his first couple starts before inserting him into your rotation.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/26, 6:24 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was destroyed by the Royals on Thursday. He allowed seven runs, 12 hits and two walks in just six innings. He did manage to strike out six on the day.

Our View: King Felix should be officially demoted to Duke after this thrashing by the Royals. Since being dubbed the next big thing in 2005 after only 12 starts he has been inconsistent, frustrating and, at times, downright bad. If you draft him this year, pray he has the breakout season everyone has been predicting for the last three seasons.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/16, 10:38 PM CT
Felix Hernandez looked good in Venezuela's 2-0 win over Puerto Rico on Monday. He fanned seven in 4.2 innings while allowing no runs and scattering four hits and four walks.

Our View: The 22-year-old looked a lot slimmer on the mound and was clearly playing with a lot of passion. He was just 9-11 for Seattle last season, but he managed to increase his strikeout rate. Unfortunately, his walk rate also soared. When projecting King Felix for 2008, use last year's numbers as your base.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 2/26, 7:44 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed two earned runs on four hits, including a home run, in two innings of work Thursday as the Mariners and Padres ended their affair tied at four after 10 innings.

Our View: It was recently reported that Hernandez has dropped 15 pounds from a year ago, which shows he is physically committed to improving upon a mediocre season.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 2/14, 1:30 PM CT
Felix Hernandez has trimmed down to 212 pounds, according to the News Tribune. He weighed 225 pounds last season.

Our View: King Felix has great upside at only 22, but his fantasy potential could be hindered by the lack of a solid supporting cast in Seattle. He is still worth targeting as a top-15 fantasy hurler for 2009, and he could be quicker and stronger while playing at a lighter weight.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 1/19, 9:57 AM CT
The Mariners have avoided arbitration with Felix Hernandez by signing him to a one-year deal for $3.8 million, according to ESPN.

Our View: He is the Mariners' ace hurler, but only won nine games with a merely passable 1.39 WHIP and 3.45 ERA in 2008 due to a poor supporting cast. Seattle held the worst record in the AL at 61-101, and King Felix could be an unstable fantasy option once again in 2009, especially following the departure of closer J.J. Putz and star outfielder Raul Ibanez.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/19, 11:25 PM CT
Felix Hernandez tossed a complete game (eight innings) but got stuck with a loss on Friday as the Mariners fell to the A's 2-0. He struck out eight in the process.

Our View: King Felix and his owners continue to experience bad luck similar to Jake Peavy's. However, he had some pretty poor outings prior to this one. He's won just two games since July 19th.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/14, 5:58 PM CT
Felix Hernandez pitched another solid game on Sunday holing the Angels to three runs over seven innings but he is still stuck on nine victories as he had to settle for a no-decision.

Our View: King Felix sports a 3.42 ERA and a solid 7.86 K/9 mark, but with the often anemic offense behind him, Hernandez simply hasn't been able to produce the "W's" despite a solid overall campaign.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/10, 12:27 AM CT
Felix Hernandez served up six hits and six runs over 4.1 innings against the Rangers on Tuesday. He walked four, struck out three, tossed a wild pitch, and hit three batters.

Our View: Either King Felix really doesn't like the Rangers hitters or he didn't have his best stuff tonight. His control has been a bit of an issue over the second half, and we hope it's only a sign of a youngster waiting for a lost season to be over.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/3, 3:54 PM CT
Felix Hernandez only allowed one earned run on seven hits over 7.1 innings in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Rangers, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez pitched very well, but was ultimately dealt his ninth loss of the season due to no run support from Seattle's hitters. Hernandez has allowed two or less earned runs in four of his last seven starts, yet he only has one win over the span.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/29, 10:24 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Indians at Progressive Field, with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Hernandez improves to 9-8 and closed out August with back-to-back wins after going winless in his previous four outings in the month.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/24, 5:49 PM CT
Felix Hernandez picked up his eighth win of the season on Saturday by hurling six innings and allowing three earned runs on on three solo home runs while striking out seven in the Mariners 8-4 win over the A's.

Our View: Hernandez has pitched much better than his 8-8 record would indicate, but he plays for one of the worst teams in baseball, so wins are difficult to come by.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/19, 11:40 PM CT
Felix Hernandez took a line drive off the left ankle on Tuesday night, but he is not worried about the injury. "It hit me on the wrong spot," he tells the Seattle Times. "I'm fine."

Our View: Fantasy owners can expect Felix to make his next start.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/19, 9:59 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed 11 hits and five runs over five innings against the White Sox on Tuesday night. The really bad news? He struck out zero. The only other time that Hernandez failed to record a strikeout was April 18, 2007, when he left a game after 0.1 innings due to a sore elbow.

Our View: We've been wondering if the season could get any lower for the Mariners. The answer is "yes." We hope there's nothing physically wrong with the ace.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/7, 11:29 PM CT
Felix Hernandez held the Tampa Bay Rays to one run on four hits in eight innings as the Mariners beat the Rays 2-1.

Our View: Hernandez did not get the decision, but he certainly deserved it. Obviously, he is an asset to fantasy owners, and he has not given up more than three earned runs in an outing since May 26.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/2, 11:56 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed two earned runs on eight hits over five innings in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Orioles at home, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: He has not lasted past the sixth inning in any of his last five starts, but has 34 strikeouts over the span. He is having control issues with too many walks, but isn't allowing a high number of runs, and should remain active in all leagues.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/23, 8:30 PM CT
Felix Hernandez needed 108 pitches to make it through six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Red Sox. King Felix allowed six hits and five walks, leading to three runs (two earned).

Our View: Felix continues to tease with his stuff as the results continue to be a bit mixed. Still, he has 118 K in 125 innings and owns a 2.95 ERA, so even amidst some struggles he is dominating most hitters.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/19, 12:04 AM CT
King Felix Hernandez is starting to round into form for the Mariners, tonight earning his seventh win in leading his Mariners to the 8-2 victory over Cleveland. Hernandez pitched six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Felix moves to 7-6 on the season with a 2.95 ERA, touting five wins and just one loss over his last seven starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/11, 10:04 PM CT
Felix Hernandez retired the first 10 batters he faced and struck out six of the first 13, but the Royals finally got to Hernandez with three two-out runs in the fifth.

Our View: The King threw 83 pitches in five innings before coming out of the game. He probably could have gone longer but the Mariners don't want to push their luck.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/11, 6:36 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was activated from the DL earlier today in time to make the start tonight in Kansas City, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Hernandez is coming back from a sore ankle he suffered while covering home plate back on June 23. He has 93 strikeouts in 107 IP.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/11, 12:18 PM CT
Felix Hernandez isn't expected to go deep in his next start (which is scheduled about two weeks from now against the Royals), and will be on a pitch count, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Manager Jim Riggleman said, "I don't know what kind of pitch count limit we'll have him on. But he hasn't pitched in a while."

Our View: His next outing will also be cut short if they notice him experiencing any degree of discomfort.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/8, 2:07 PM CT
The Mariners initially believed Felix Hernandez would return to the rotation on Thursday in the final game of the series against Oakland, but he is now being pushed back to start Friday against Kansas City, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Manager Jim Riggleman said, "We just wanted to get Felix to where we were sure he was comfortable."

Our View: R.A. Dickey will now start Thursday.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/6, 2:06 PM CT
Felix Hernandez, who is recovering from a sprained left ankle, has thrown a bullpen session at Safeco Field today, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Manager Jim Riggleman noted that Hernandez could come off the DL as soon as Tuesday, and will throw another lighter bullpen session on that day. After that, the plan is to have him return to the starting rotation on Thursday or Friday when the Mariners are on the road.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/3, 9:41 AM CT
Felix Hernandez threw a side session yesterday, and Mariners manager Jim Riggleman would like to get him a start before the All-Star break, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Hopefully Riggleman won't rush Hernandez back. The Mariners are out of the race, so pushing it does not seem wise. Hernandez has been great for fantasy owners this year, and they'd surely take one less start of Hernandez if it means he can come back and continue to throw like he has.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/1, 10:52 AM CT
Felix Hernandez not only will not make his scheduled start on Tuesday, his injured ankle will in fact force him to the DL, according to MLB.com. "He threw a few pitches and the landing foot is still not really right, and we're not going to put him out there till it is right," manager Jim Riggleman said.

Our View: So much for him making his next start. The hope is that Hernandez will be ready to go right before the All-Star game since the move was retroactive to June 24th. In the long run this might actually work to his benefit by allowing him some time to rest his young arm.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/30, 10:50 AM CT
Felix Hernandez, who is dealing with a left ankle injury, is not expected to make his start on Tuesday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Manager Jim Riggleman will mix and match a group of relievers, likely including Ryan Rowland-Smith, Roy Corcoran, Sean Green and Mark Lowe, to get through Tuesday. Riggleman added, "It may not even matter which one starts the game Tuesday. It's going to be a combination of guys. Try to see if one of them can stretch it out a little more than the others, maybe, so that we can conserve some guys for the day before and the day after that."

Our View: Jim Riggleman said he won't know a potential return date for Hernandez until he gets on a mound and throws to test his injured ankle. So far, the training staff hasn't allowed that, preferring for Hernandez to rest. A trip to the DL is not expected.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/29, 6:56 PM CT
Felix Hernandez remains out due to a sore left ankle. The staff thought he might test the ankle by throwing on Sunday, but that didn't happen, the Seattle Times reports. The Mariners will likely use someone out of their bullpen to start on Tuesday. "(Ryan) Rowland-Smith would be a candidate," manager Jim Riggleman says. "(Roy) Corcoran, (Sean) Green, (Mark) Lowe. It may not really even matter which one starts. It's just going to be a combination of the guys."

Our View: Hernandez injured the ankle on June 23, and it doesn't sound like the M's are quite ready to simply put him on the DL. At this point, fantasy owners can't count on Felix to start this week, though.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/25, 6:17 PM CT
Felix Hernandez will not make his next scheduled start on Sunday due to his injured ankle, according to MLB.com. "We're not counting on Felix for Sunday," interim manager Jim Riggleman said. "We are going to be realistic and are making some plans around him not pitching on Sunday." The team hopes that Erik Bedard will be able to make the start.

Our View: This seemed like how it would go from the moment he was injured despite the fact that the team talked big about King Felix making his next start. Hopefully he will avoid the DL, but that still has to be considered a possibility.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/24, 7:21 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was hobbling around with a walking boot protecting his injured left ankle Tuesday, but the righty still hopes to make his next scheduled start on Sunday, according to the AP. Manager Jim Riggleman, however, isn't so sure. "Felix is OK," Riggleman said. "He thinks he'll pitch Sunday and that's his scheduled day, but I don't know that he will. Certainly I'm going to be a little more conservative than that. If we get him back a couple days after Sunday, I'd be really happy."

Our View: Riggleman said King Felix won't start Sunday if he can't play catch Friday. Erik Bedard, who has been scratched from his Wednesday start due to back spasms, could be a replacement on Sunday.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/23, 10:31 PM CT
X-rays on Felix Hernandez's left ankle have come back negative. King Felix, who was injured while covering a play at the plate, expects to make his next start. "Sure, I'll be there," he said in the AP.

Our View: We're skeptical that King Felix will be able to take the ball the next time out given that he could put no weight at all on his ankle without writhing in pain. We'll continue to update his status going forward.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/23, 7:24 PM CT
Felix Hernandez has been forced from his start against the Mets one out short of qualifying for the win after injuring his ankle on a play at the plate. Carlos Beltran scored on a passed ball while spiking Hernandez in the ankle/calf area. Hernandez tried to throw a few more pitches but was unable to do so and left the game in pain.

Our View: This didn't look good. The good news is that he was able to put some weight on the leg, but given that he was already dealing with some issues with his calf, we wouldn't be at all surprised if he is placed on the DL as a result of this collision.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/18, 12:16 AM CT
Seattle RHP Felix Hernandez put another win on the board, supporting the Mariners' 5-4 win over the Marlins. Hernandez pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Our View: This gets Hernandez down to an ERA of 2.87 with a record of 6-5, posting his fourth consecutive win with five walks versus 29 strikeouts during that span.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/11, 4:25 PM CT
The Mariners report RHP Felix Hernandez , despite finishing eight full innings of work in today's 2-1 win over Toronto, is suffering from pain in his right calf muscle, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Hernandez told reporters that he had full intentions of throwing the complete game today, but the pain in his calf was too much to take after eight. He also reports the problem is not new and has been bothering him for several weeks, yet he has not missed a start. At this time the team has announced no plans for medical testing or examination, but we will update with news as it becomes available.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/11, 2:44 PM CT
Felix Hernandez continued his dominance Wednesday, giving up just one unearned run in eight innings of work against the Toronto Blue Jays. He struck out eight and walked one.

Our View: King Felix has not given up an earned run in 21 innings dating back to May 26.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/6, 9:45 PM CT
Felix Hernandez had his second straight stellar performance Friday, holding the Red Sox scoreless over six innings while allowing six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: King Felix went through a stretch where he lost five straight decisions, but he's gone 2-0 with 13 scoreless frames over his last two starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/31, 5:41 PM CT
Felix Hernandez threw seven scoreless innings, with only two hits allowed, in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Tigers. He issued no walks with seven strikeouts.

Our View: He improved to 3-5 for the season, and bounced back well from his last poor start, when he allowed five runs against Boston on May 26.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/26, 11:56 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed five runs on seven hits, walked five and struck out five in 7.2 innings of work. Hernandez shut down the Red Sox for seven innings before blowing up in the top of the eighth inning allowing Boston to score four times.

Our View: Hernandez, who was supposed to start on Sunday in New York but had his start pushed back a day because of a sore calf, has lost his last five decisions after starting the season 2-0.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/26, 11:16 AM CT
Felix Hernandez stated that he will make his scheduled start tonight against Boston, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Manager John McLaren wants to see how Hernandez's injured right calf responds when he warms up. Hernandez is wearing an elastic brace on the calf even when he's not pitching, but said simply there's no issue, and added that he is going to pitch.

Our View: He was originally scheduled to pitch Saturday, but the team wanted to push him back a few days to make sure his calf has completely healed. We will keep you posted on his status.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/23, 3:57 PM CT
Felix Hernandez was scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday, Newsday confirms. The Mariners have moved up Carlos Silva and Jarrod Washburn to work on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Our View: We are awaiting further details, but King Felix is presumably being skipped due to his sore right calf. More details when they are available.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/22, 8:47 AM CT
Felix Hernandez was still having a little difficulty with his right calf before Wednesday's game, and is listed as probable to take the mound on Saturday in New York, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre said, "We're not going to have him do his regular side work today. He's feeling better, and I hope he'll start Saturday, but I'm not sure. We'll see how it goes today and maybe I'll have a better idea Thursday." Hernandez added, "It's feeling better. I think I'll pitch. I could go out and throw today. If I don't, then maybe tomorrow. I should be OK."

Our View: The calf ailment is the same problem that led Hernandez to being lifted from his last start. He is probable for Saturday, but the team is uncertain he will start. We will keep you updated on his status.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/19, 10:24 AM CT
Manager John McLaren told the Seattle Times he knew Felix Hernandez wouldn't want to leave the game after the sixth inning, but he didn't give his pitcher the choice. Hernandez's calf was tight, something he said began with his warm-up pitches earlier in the game, perhaps the third inning he said. He threw 91 pitches in six innings, struck out five and walked one in the no-decision. "We'll monitor this day by day, and hopefully with a little treatment, a little rest, he's going to be fine. We'll know something more Tuesday."

Our View: Hernandez said after the game he didn't expect the tightness would cost him a start. McLaren didn't expect that would be the case either.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/18, 11:04 PM CT
Felix Hernandez earned a no-decision on Sunday despite limiting the Padres to two runs over six innings. He walked one, struck out five and was only scored on when Adrian Gonzalez touched him for a 2-run home run.

Our View: King Felix dealt with some calf cramps on the afternoon, but it didn't seem to affect him adversely. At this point, we would expect him to make his next start against the Yankees.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/13, 10:19 PM CT
The kid is a supreme talent, but Seattle RHP Felix Hernandez is learning that talent does not always equal success in the majors. Hernandez suffered his fourth loss of the season this evening as the Mariners fell 5-2 to the Texas Rangers, pitching six innings to give up three runs (two earned) on six hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: This bring Felix to four consecutive losses, giving up 16 combined earned runs over that span.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/9, 12:22 AM CT
Felix Hernandez had a third straight rough start as he allowed four runs in five innings against the Rangers. Felix struggled to find the strike zone all night taking 112 pitches to record 15 outs as he walked three batters and allowed six hits on his way to his third loss.

Our View: With this outing his ERA sits at a more reasonable 3.42, though we certainly wouldn't have liked to have seen him get there this quickly (18 ER in his last 17.2 IP). Hernandez has not yet shown the ability to consistently dominate hitters from start to start, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't put it all together and run off a long streak of big-time success.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/3, 3:19 PM CT
Seattle phenom Felix Hernandez suffered through rough day on the mound as the Mariners fell 6-1 to the New York Yankees. Hernandez completed just 5 2/3 innings, surrendering six runs (all earned) on 12 hits in his second loss of the season. He also surrendered three walks and pitched three strike outs, allowing one home run to OF Johnny Damon in the 6th inning with a man onboard.

Our View: This is Hernandez's second loss in as many starts, giving up four runs on six hits to the Oakland A's on April 27th.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/27, 6:54 PM CT
Felix Hernandez did everything an ace does through seven innings against Oakland on Sunday, giving up just four hits and striking out 10. However, he could not escape trouble in the eighth. The Seattle right-hander walked Jack Hannahan to open the inning then Mark Ellis doubled and Daric Barton walked to load the bases. The A's Emil Brown followed with a single into left that ended Hernandez's day.

Our View: Hernandez has been terrific this season, but his eighth inning troubles raised his ERA to a more mortal 2.22. The Seattle ace is a starting option regardless of the opponent.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/22, 11:51 PM CT
Felix Hernandez followed his complete game victory over the A's with another solid effort against the Orioles on Tuesday night. He held the Baltimore bats to six hits and two runs over seven innings. Hernandez walked three and struck out seven.

Our View: King Felix actually had his ERA rise from 1.47 to 1.67, but we're obviously not mad. He is looking every bit the ace that scouts and fantasy owners have drooled over and predicted in recent years.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/22, 3:10 PM CT
Felix Hernandez looks to remain unbeaten when he takes the hill against the Orioles tonight, according to MLB.com. He is currently 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA, and is yet to allow more than two runs in any of his four starts.

Our View: He will duel with righty Jeremy Guthrie, who is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA. Hernandez should remain in your lineups, and is seemingly headed for another solid start. He is also 12-3 over his previous 22 starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/16, 11:23 PM CT
Felix Hernandez dominated the A's on Wednesday night throwing a complete game "W" at them. King Felix allowed eight hits and one walk, while picking up eight K on his way to two runs allowed (one earned).

Our View: This is what you paid the big bucks for on draft day, and there is little reason, barring injury, to think that he won't end up being one of the top-15 starters in baseball this season.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/12, 12:34 AM CT
Felix Hernandez pitched his worst game of the season on Friday but still managed to record his first victory of the season. Felix allowed two home runs and nine hits in his 6.2 innings which led to four earned runs on the night. A 1.66 ERA through three starts stamps Felix as a pitcher to watch in the AL Cy Young race this season.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/11, 2:27 PM CT
Felix Hernandez, who will be looking for his first win of the season tonight, has a poor track record against the Angels, according to MLB.com. Over his career against the Angels, Hernandez is 2-4 with a 4.72 ERA, while allowing 57 hits in 55 innings. And that was before they added Torii Hunter to the lineup, who is off to a strong start with the Angels. He will be in for another tough battle.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/7, 7:49 AM CT
Felix Hernandez asked to be pulled after eight dominant innings on Sunday. The young ace told pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre that his arm wasn't feeling 100 percent. "You guys know me, I don't want to come out of the game," Hernandez tells the Seattle Times. "But when I feel tired, I don't want to make any mistakes. Because I felt a little bit tired. I threw a bullpen the other day. I didn't expect that, to throw eight innings after just one day's rest." The Orioles rallied in the ninth inning to beat the Mariners 3-2.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/7, 3:52 AM CT
Felix Hernandez gave up five hits, struck out six, walked two and left with a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning in Sunday's heartbreaking loss to the Orioles. A bullpen without J.J. Putz couldn't hold the lead and Seattle ended up losing the game in the bottom of the ninth. The "King" was dominate in his eight inning effort, and likely should have been given the ball in the ninth.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/27, 6:49 PM CT
Felix Hernandez surrendered three runs on nine hits over five innings in a no decision against San Diego on Thursday, with five strikeouts and no walks. Hernandez will anchor a strong Seattle rotation this season, which recently acquired Erik Bedard and Carlos Silva.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/11, 6:23 PM CT
Seattle phenom Felix Hernandez enjoyed a fantastic outing in the Mariners' 1-4 loss to the Cubs in the Cactus League today, according to MLB.com. Hernandez tossed five innings, giving up just three hits, striking out three, and forcing two batters into double plays. It appears Hernandez is well on his way to once again working as one of the top pitching desires for fantasy owners this season, and outings like this add substantial fuel to the fire. Staying strong deep into the season should be a top priority, but today's performance gives reason for hope in Seattle and to fantasy owners alike.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/6, 8:44 PM CT
Felix Hernandez allowed only two runs in four innings on Thursday on two solo HR to Ryan Braun and and Rickie Weeks of the Brewers. In fact, those were the only two hits he allowed as he punched out five batters. This could be the year that King Felix begins to fulfill his amazing potential. The possessor of a hammer curveball and 95+ mph fastball, the baby faced Hernandez won 14 games last season with 165 K, but there is talent there to better those numbers this season substantially.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/21, 1:38 AM CT
The Mariners will keep Felix Hernandez on regular rest, meaning he'll start Sunday's series finale against the Blue Jays, according to the AP. King Felix has been sharp as of late, posting a 2.22 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over his last four starts.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/21, 9:06 AM CT
Felix Hernandez has sported a 5.97 ERA since returning from the DL in mid May, and the Mariners think he's been rushing through his delivery as of late, according to the Seattle Times. "We want maybe a little bit of hesitation at the balance point instead of rushing through it," pitching coach Chaves said. "Get to the balance point, spend a little bit of time in it, then explode from there." The team also iterated that they don't think the right-hander is pitching hurt.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/6, 10:47 AM CT
Felix Hernandez has really took it on the chin since returning from the DL, but don't blame his struggles on injury. Mariners pitching coach Rafael Chaves said Tuesday that Hernandez is completely healthy or else the team would not send him out there, according to the Seattle Times. Chaves thinks the bar was just set unreasonably high after the 21-year-old's dominating first two starts of the season. "The bar is real high," Chaves said. "He wants to get back to those numbers and we want him to get back to those numbers. But you've got to be honest with yourself. Whatever happened at the beginning of the year is something that doesn't happen too often."
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/25, 10:40 PM CT
Felix Hernandez left Friday's game in the sixth inning due to tightness in his lower back. Hernandez was passable but not great prior to leaving, allowing seven hits and two runs against the Royals, with two walks and five strikeouts. He also picked up his third victory of the year in the process. It's not clear yet if Hernandez will be able to make his next start.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/17, 10:37 AM CT
Felix Hernandez reported no problems after his abbreviated outing on Tuesday night. Manager Mike Hargrove said Hernandez could throw as many as 100 pitches his next start (he threw 78 on Tuesday), which is scheduled for Sunday against the Padres, according to the Seattle Times. "There's usually a 15-to-20-pitch increase," said Hargrove.

Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/9, 10:03 AM CT
Felix Hernandez threw a 50-pitch simulated game at Comerica Park and insists he'll be ready to go Tuesday, according to the Seattle Times. "I was a little nervous in the first inning that I threw," Hernandez said. "Then in the second inning and the third inning, I felt better and my pitches were working better." Barring any setbacks, he'll throw one more bullpen session before starting against the Angels next week.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/9, 12:22 AM CT
Felix Hernandez threw a simulated game Tuesday, and Mike Hargrove was encouraged by the results, the AP reports. "He threw the ball pretty well," Hargrove said. "He threw all his pitches." Hernandez, coming back from a strained muscle in his elbow and forearm, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session later this week, and the Mariners hope to have him back in the rotation at or around May 15.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/6, 8:20 AM CT
Although Felix Hernandez got in a 52-pitch bullpen session on Friday, the Mariners decided he's been inactive too long to just throw him right back into game action this week, according to the Seattle Times. "I feel good but they want me to have more time," Hernandez said with a shrug. "I just want to do what's best for me right now." If all goes well, he'll come off the disabled list to start May 15 against the Angels. King Felix is recovering from a strained muscle in his elbow and forearm.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/2, 5:40 PM CT
Felix Hernandez, on the disabled list with a strained forearm, had been on schedule to return on Friday against the Yankees. However, that date has been pushed back, and he's now slated to return on May 9 against the Tigers, according to MLB.com. "We would rather be safe than sorry with him," manager Mike Hargrove said. "His bullpen [session on Tuesday] was fine, but we just feel better giving him a few extra days. If we get to [May 9] and feel he needs a few more days, we'll give him more time." Cha Seung Baek will start on Friday in Hernandez's place.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/2, 9:58 AM CT

Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/26, 2:18 AM CT
Felix Hernandez threw for 20 minutes on Wednesday and reported no problems in his right forearm, the AP reports. Hernandez, on the 15-day DL with a strained pitching elbow, is on course to return to Seattle's rotation next week and is slated to start May 4 against the Yankees in New York. "It's fine," said Hernandez after his brief workout, which included throwing from 120 feet under the watch of manager Mike Hargrove and pitching coach Rafael Chaves. "I'd say it's coming along well."
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/23, 8:36 PM CT
After Felix Hernandez threw from 75 feet on Monday, the Mariners decided to place him on the disabled list, according to the AP. He'll be eligible to return from the strained muscle in his elbow and forearm on May 4, and the M's don't see this as much of a setback. "Felix was expected to miss about 10 days. Even in our best-case scenarios the earliest we had him pitching was May 2," Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi said. "This move will not materially change the schedule on Felix and, hopefully, removes any pressure he may feel to try and rush back." Cha Seung Baek was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to replace Hernandez on the roster and to start Monday's game.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/23, 8:15 AM CT
Felix Hernandez will test out his injured elbow by playing catch Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times. If all goes well, he'll also toss a bullpen session on Wednesday before the Mariners decide whether to place him on the disabled list.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/19, 5:44 PM CT
Felix Hernandez will likely miss two to three starts with a muscle strain inside his right elbow and forearm, according to the AP. Hernandez left his last outing after recording just one out due to elbow discomfort. "I think 10 to 20 days is a reasonable estimate," Mariners medical director Dr. Ed Khalfayan said when asked when Hernandez would pitch again. "That's as good a news as you can get from an elbow injury." The M's have yet to place King Felix on the DL, but it seems likely they will do so. Manager Mike Hargrove said the team has already talked about who would start in place of Hernandez, but he did not say who that was.

Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/24, 8:27 PM CT
Felix Hernandez will make another start this year, according to the AP. Hernandez will start on Saturday against the Rangers.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/23, 11:56 PM CT
Because Felix Hernandez threw just five innings and 67 pitches Saturday, Mike Hargrove might let his young pitcher have one more start this year, according to the Mariners official site. The original plan was for this to be Felix's last turn of the season. "It was a relatively easy five innings," Hargrove said, of Hernandez, who yielded two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and no walks. "He has good stuff and gives us a chance to win. He may make a start at home. We'll see about that. But he was outstanding."
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 9/11, 8:03 AM CT
In an effort to keep Felix Hernandez from being overworked, the Mariners are keeping him on a pitch count, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "We were trying to keep him at 100 pitches or seven innings," manager Mike Hargrove said. They also will skip his scheduled start Thursday and the final weekend of the season. Francisco Cruceta is a likely replacement for Hernandez on Thursday.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/9, 8:56 PM CT
Manager Mike Hargrove indicated on Friday that Felix Hernandez may not make his next scheduled start on Friday, according to the AP. Felix has already thrown 168 innings this year, and the team wants to make sure he stays under the 200 mark. It's unclear who would start in Felix's place.
Felix Hernandez, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/27, 8:52 PM CT
Manager Mike Hargrove said that Felix Hernandez would probably need to be skipped in the rotation at least once, and possibly twice, before the end of the season to keep him under the 200-inning threshold, according to the AP. Hernandez, who will start on Monday night against the Angels, has pitched 151 2/3 innings in 25 starts this year.
