Our View: Geary was recently activated from the 15-day disabled list and is 1-3 with an 8.10 ERA in 16 appearances in 2009. He is not a realistic fantasy option should he be recalled.
Geoff Geary, P, Houston AstrosMonday 6/8, 9:07 AM CT

Our View: He needs to throw another simulated game, and could then advance to a minor league rehab assignment if he does not have any issues. His fantasy value will be limited as a middle reliever upon his return to Houston.

Geoff Geary, P, Houston AstrosFriday 5/22, 10:01 AM CT
MLBlogs.com is reporting that Geoff Geary has been throwing off flat ground every day and he fully expects to be ready to be activated when eligible on May 29.

Our View: Geary has struggled this season, but manager Cecil Cooper believes it is because of the injury. Expect him to be better when he returns, but his fantasy value is pretty much nonexistent at this point.

Updating an earlier report, Geoff Geary has been placed on the 15-day DL with right biceps tendinitis, according to MLB.com. The team recalled Jeff Fulchino from Triple-A as the adjoining move.

Geoff Geary, P, Houston AstrosThursday 5/14, 9:48 AM CT
Skipper Cecil Cooper indicated that reliever Geoff Geary may be dealing with an injury, according to MLBblogs.com. Cooper said, "I am not real sure what is going on there. We have got to check him out. He has been battling some bicep tendinitis a little bit. Maybe that is why he's having the problems he is been having."

Our View: Geary has allowed 10 walks and 18 earned runs over 20 innings of relief this season. He is proving to be a liability in the Astros' bullpen, and should not be on fantasy rosters.

Geoff Geary threw 30 pitches in the bullpen prior to Friday’s game and indicated his strained groin felt better, according to the Houston Chronicle. The last five were four-seam fastballs thrown at full-strength. He hasn't pitched since August 26 due to the ailment.

Our View: Geary will throw another bullpen session Sunday and if things go favorably without a setback, he will be available for next week’s series against the Pirates. He has fared well as a middle reliever this season.

Towles and outfielder Michael Bourn, and threw 15 pitches in each inning as a final step toward activation from the DL. Geary said, "I don't feel any pain or strain anywhere. It's just a matter of controlling adrenaline, which is beyond controllable right now."

Our View: Geary will be activated prior to Tuesday's opener in Pittsburgh, barring a setback. He was enjoying a solid season while working out of the Astros' pen, as he held a 1.15 WHIP over 18.1 innings, with 17 strikeouts. He should continue to hold value in NL-only leagues upon his return.
Geoff Geary, P, Houston AstrosThursday 5/29, 8:34 PM CT
Geoff Geary continues to progress well in his comeback from a strained right groin and he appears to be on track to be activated from the DL next Tuesday, according to MLB.com. "I don't feel my groin anymore," Geary said. "Now, it's just a matter of getting used to throwing 30-pitch bullpens."

Our View: Hopefully he hasn't lost all feeling in that region. Geary was one of the unsung relievers in the NL prior to his injury as he has limited the long ball while striking out almost a batter per inning giving him value in NL Only leagues.
Geoff Geary, P, Houston AstrosTuesday 5/27, 9:20 PM CT
Geoff Geary threw 25 pitches during a pain-free bullpen session on Tuesday and could be activated from the DL within a week, according to MLB.com. "I threw a couple slide-step pitches and didn't feel anything," Geary said. "The next step is doing side-to-side movements and bunt defense, bunt plays. Once I feel OK with that, there's no reason why I shouldn't be out there in a game." Geary has been on the DL since May 16 with a strained right groin.

Our View: Manager Cecil Cooper doesn't think Geary will need to go on a rehab assignment. He's had a very nice year for Houston, compiling a 1.47 ERA with 17 Ks in 18 1/3 innings.
