Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 1/21, 11:15 AM CT
If he has a strong campaign in 2010, the Marlins will consider offering Ricky Nolasco a multi-year deal, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.

Our View: Nolasco's 2009 was a series of peaks and valleys, with the hurler often getting bombed in between seven and eight inning gems. If he can discover consistency while remaining healthy this season, he will be ready to cash in.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 1/15, 9:07 AM CT
The Marlins are currently not considering a long-term contract extension for hard-throwing righty Ricky Nolasco, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Our View: A team as thrifty as the Marlins simply cannot commit big long-term dollars to a player as inconsistent as Nolasco. In order to get a nice extension, Nolasco needs to consistently pitch like he did last June, when he went 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in five starts, and not like he did last August, when he went 2-1 with a 5.50 ERA in six starts.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 12/17, 1:31 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco and the Marlins have agreed to a one-year, $3.8 million deal, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: Nolasco finished 13-9 with a 5.06 ERA and 1.25 WHIP last season, though that was in large part due to early-season struggles that were erased after a minor league stint. After the All-Star break, Nolasco went 7-2 with a 4.39 ERA and 1.12 WHIP along with 105 strikeouts in 94.1 innings and makes for a potential sleeper heading into drafts next year.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/30, 9:17 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco mowed down the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night, striking out 16 batters in 7.2 innings of work, as Florida won 5-4 on the road.

Our View: The 16 strikeouts were a major league best for the 2009 season for any pitcher. The game was a fitting end to an up and down season for the burly righty, as he went 13-9 with a 5.06 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 31 starts.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/25, 9:37 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco gave up three earned runs on four hits over seven innings in Friday's 6-5 home loss to the Mets. He had one walk and fired strikeouts.

Our View: The game was tied at 3-3 when Nolasco exited, so he takes a no-decision rather than a loss. He had a decent performance, and fantasy owners should be pleased with his seven strikeouts.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/19, 10:38 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco fanned ten Reds en route to his 12th win this season. He allowed just two runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings in the 3-2 victory.

Our View: Nolasco can rattle off games like this and appear to be one of the more dominant hurlers in the league. Unfortunately he's about as consistent as the stock market. His last start he allowed seven runs in five innings. That's been a running trend in 2009.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/14, 11:09 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was lit up for seven earned runs on 10 hits over five innings in Monday's 11-6 loss at St. Louis. He had no walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Nolasco had his two-game winning streak snapped, and is now 11-9 with a 5.46 ERA. This marked his worst start since August 12, when he was assaulted for 10 earned runs over 3.1 innings against the Astros.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/9, 8:57 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco kept the Mets in check on Wednesday night, limiting them to three runs in 6.1 innings, as the Marlins won 7-3 at Citi Field.

Our View: Nolasco is now 11-8 with a 5.23 ERA in 11 stats in 2009.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/3, 10:38 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco put together a quality start for the Marlins on Thursday as Florida beat the Braves by a score of 8-3. Nolasco went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out seven.

Our View: Nolasco has been very good about producing quality starts in the second half, and he is always very good with the strikeouts. His ERA isn't great, but he is worth a play because he can pick up wins and strike hitters out.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/29, 9:34 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco struck out seven Padres in 5.1 innings on Saturday night, but also allowed three runs as the Marlins lost 7-4 at home.

Our View: Nolasco's season ERA still sits at an ugly 5.30, but the hard throwing righty has still managed to throw six quality starts in his last 11 outings, striking out 77 batters in the process.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/23, 5:10 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco surrendered four earned runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Sunday's 7-5 loss at Atlanta. He had three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Nolasco was handed a no-decision rather than a loss for his weak outing, and was a disappointment after only allowing two earned runs over nine innings in his last start at Houston. He looks to remain inconsistent as a fantasy hurler, but is much too talented not to pencil into fantasy lineups.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/18, 11:08 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco mowed down the Astros on Tuesday and earned a complete game victory. He allowed just two runs on three hits and fanned ten against zero walks in the 6-2 win.

Our View: The talented starter has had a disappointing season, but brought his A-game on Tuesday. Quite a bounce back outing after allowing ten runs over 3.1 innings in his previous start. If you can stay away from his meltdown outings he's a nice own.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/12, 9:55 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco got utterly rocked on Wednesday night, allowing ten runs in just 3.1 innings, as the Marlins got crushed at home 14-6 by the Astros.

Our View: Nolasco is now 8-8 on the season. The outing marked the sixth time this season that he had given up more than five runs in a start, though he had put together four straight quality starts until tonight. He's still a great arm in all formats.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/7, 9:38 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco kept the best offense in the National League in-check on Friday night. The burly righty struck out seven in seven innings, while allowing just two runs, as the Marlins beat the Phillies 3-2 on the road.

Our View: Nolasco's renaissance continues, and if he stays hot, he could prove to be a huge factor in playoff races down the stretch.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/2, 8:55 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco dominated the Cubs on Sunday. He held the Northsiders to just one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He fanned eight, but didn't factor in the decision as Cody Ross won the game in the bottom of the ninth.

Our View: Nolasco was demoted in May because of poor performance and his 9.07 ERA. He rebounded in June with a 3-1 record and 1.91 ERA and was solid in July as well going 2-1 with a 3.51 mark. Looks like he finally has things figured out. Start him regularly.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/28, 10:24 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was very good again on Tuesday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Marlins beat the Braves 4-3. Nolasco went seven innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Nolasco didn't pile up the strikeouts tonight, but he was effective. He should no longer be viewed as the guy who struggled enough to be sent down to the minors in the first half, as he has been outstanding since being recalled. Expect him to be very good for the most part the rest of the way, and with his strikeout ability he has the stuff to dominate most lineups.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/22, 5:26 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco mowed down the Padres on Wednesday to earn his seventh win. The burly righty strike out ten, while allowing just two hits, in 6.1 innings, as the Marlins cruised to a 5-0 victory.

Our View: Nolasco has simply been a different pitcher since he was sent down to the minor leagues to iron out his mechanics. He had been hit hard in his last two starts, but his ability to adjust and get back on track today is a great sign for the Marlins going forward.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/10, 11:22 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was lit up for seven earned runs on nine hits over six innings in Friday's 8-0 loss at Arizona. He had one walk and eight strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Nolasco now has a losing record at 6-7, but allowed two or less earned runs in each of his previous six starts, and should be able to get back on track following tonight's nightmarish performance.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/5, 3:49 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco absolutely dominated the Pirates on Sunday in the Marlins' 5-0 win. Nolasco went eight shutout innings and allowed only three hits while walking two and striking out 12. He is now 6-6 on the year.

Our View: Nolasco has now won his last four decisions, and he looked today like the top fantasy option many people expected him to be before the season started. The trip to the minors obviously did something to him, because he has been outstanding since returning to the team. He is a must start in all leagues at this point.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/29, 9:50 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco only allowed two earned runs on four hits over eight innings in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Nationals at home. He had no walks and fired eight strikeouts.

Our View: Nolasco collected his third straight win, and allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last five starts. He is finally pitching up to high expectations after struggling in May with a 1-3 record and a 12.23 ERA.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/24, 11:04 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco allowed two runs (none earned) on seven hits over seven innings in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Orioles at home. He issued one walk and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View: Nolasco has won in back-to-back starts, and allowed two or less earned runs in each of his four outings this month. He turned his season around after going 1-3 with a terrible 12.23 ERA in May.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/18, 10:48 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco pitched a rain shortened one hit complete game on Thursday night as the Marlins won 2-1 in Fenway Park.

Our View: Nolasco has rediscovered his mojo after getting recalled from the minors. He is now 1-1 with 18 strikeouts in 18 innings, while allowing only five earned runs, since the call up. He is once again safe to place in your starting lineup.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/12, 10:34 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco only allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings in Friday's 7-3 win at Toronto. He had one walk and racked up nine strikeouts.

Our View: The Jays were leading 2-1 when he exited, so Nolasco took a no-decision. He lost in his previous three starts, and this was an encouraging outing for him.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/7, 8:54 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco fared well in his first start since being recalled from Triple-A, but took a tough luck loss on Sunday. He allowed just two earned runs on ten hits and three walks over seven innings, but fell to 2-6 after a 3-2 loss to the Giants.

Our View: Nolasco has been terrible this season, but it looks like that demotion to the minors might have kick started him back into gear. It may be best to wait one more start before inserting him back into lineups. Just to make sure he really does have it figured out.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/7, 12:41 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco has been recalled by the Marlins from Triple-A New Orleans, according to TSN. The club sent down Tim Wood as the adjoining move.

Our View: Nolasco will start tonight's home game against the Giants. Nolasco struggled this season prior to being demoted, but he won 15 games in 2008, and fared well in the minors. He is worth consideration for fantasy lineups, and should be scooped up if dropped to the waiver wire during his stint in the minors.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/5, 9:53 AM CT
The Miami Herald is reporting that Marlins' opening day starter Ricky Nolasco will be recalled from Triple-A to start on Sunday. Nolasco will take the rotation spot of Anibal Snachez, who was injured during his bullpen session Thursday.

Our View: Nolasco looked very solid during his stint in the minors, and you would have to believe that he will be better this time around. Anyone who held onto Nolasco should be prepared to start him on Sunday, and hopefully he returns to the pitcher we saw in the second half last year.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/3, 3:35 PM CT
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Ricky Nolasco will have another minor league start on Saturday and then the Marlins will decide whether he's rejoin the rotation.

Our View: Nolasco has looked very good in both of his "seasoning starts" in the minors and all signs point to him returning if he has another strong outing on Saturday. The Marlins will have to decide on who gets bumped from the rotation should he return. It will likely be between Andrew Miller and Sean West.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/1, 3:32 PM CT
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Ricky Nolasco was impressive in his second minor league start on Monday. Nolasco went seven innings and allowed one run on six hits while walking one and striking out five in the game.

Our View: Nolasco now has a 2.40 ERA in two starts in Triple-A, and it looks like he has started to figure out what's wrong. His potential is still sky high, and he is expected to return to the Marlins' rotation soon. If he was dropped in your league, you may want to jump on him now and hope he has it figured out.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/23, 7:57 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco, who was optioned to the minors after his most recent shelling this season, will make at least two starts at Triple-A New Orleans before the Marlins consider about calling him back up to the big leagues, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Nolasco has been awful this season, but given the fact that he's still been able to maintain a fine K:BB rate and has suffered from a high BABIP, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see him dominate minor league hitters and be back in Florida sometime from early-to-mid June. He's still worth owning in most formats and league sizes given his great potential, and should probably be plucked off waivers if he's been let go in your league.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/23, 12:33 AM CT
The AP reports that Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans after allowing eight runs in two innings to the Rays on Friday.

Our View: Nolasco won 15 games a season ago and few pitchers dominated the second half as much as he did. Hopefuly he can work out whatever his problems are at Triple-A and return to the Marlins after a few starts. For a pitcher with as much potential as this, we find it hard to recommend letting him go. If you can afford to wait on him, we think you should.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/22, 11:55 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco's nightmare season continued on Friday as he surrendered eight runs in only two innings as the Rays defeated the Marlins 15-2. Both Carlos Pena and Dioner Navarro hit home runs off the struggling hurler.

Our View: When will it end? Maybe not soon. The Marlins got a tough schedule running over the course of the next month, and things only get hairier as they are matched up with the AL East in interleague play.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/20, 12:23 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco threw 76 pitches Monday before rain ended his outing, and he is slated to pitch on three-day's rest Friday against the Rays, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Nolasco has been a disappointment so far this season while coming off a solid 2008 campaign - but he still has time to get on track and should remain employed in fantasy lineups. He is 2-4 over eight starts, with a 7.78 ERA.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 5/18, 11:40 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco had struck out five batters while shutting out the Diamondbacks over 3.1 innings on Monday. However, the game was rained out and his solid outing will be voided.

Our View: This is unfortunate for Nolasco's owners as they have been desperately awaiting a strong effort from Nolasco.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/13, 10:42 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco got blasted again on Wednesday. The Brewers punished him to the tune of eight runs on seven hits and two walks over just 3.2 innings. Nolasco took his fourth loss as the Marlins fell 8-6.

Our View: Nolasco has been awful this season after coming in with high expectations. He sports a bloated 7.78 ERA and can't seem to get anyone out at this point in the season. He may be better served on your bench until he turns things around. Pray for a flaw in his delivery or tipped pitches or something.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/3, 5:08 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco had another poor outing on Sunday, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits over six innings. He allowed two home runs and took the loss as the Marlins fell 6-4 to the Cubs.

Our View: Nolasco has been awful this season after coming in with high expectations. He is now 1-3 with a 7.03 ERA in six starts. Fantasy owners have to be frustrated with his performance so far and may be best left on the bench until he figures it out.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/22, 2:53 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits over six innings in Wedesday's 7-4 loss at Pittsburgh. He had five strikeouts and issued three walks.

Our View: Nolasco is yet to play up to high expectations this season, as he fell to 1-2 with a 6.86 ERA over his first four starts. He has not won since opening day (against the Nationals).
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/11, 9:03 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco got knocked around for the second straight start on Saturday, only this time he didn't get the win as the Marlins fell to the Mets 8-4. He allowed four runs on seven hits and a pair of walks over just five innings. He is now 1-1 on the season.

Our View: Nolasco appeared primed for a big season, but has gotten off to a rough start in 2009. Owners could deal with the bad ERA in his first start because he made up for it with a win and six Ks in six innings. This one though didn't have a silver lining.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/6, 8:36 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco struck out six batters in six innings in the Marlins' 12-6 win over the Nationals on Monday. He gave up six hits and four earned runs while picking up his first win of the season.

Our View: Although it was not an impressive outing for the Marlins ace, he did manage to pick up a win. He was lights out in the second half of last season, and the Marlins are expecting another strong season from him in 2009.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/6, 11:02 AM CT
Ricky Nolasco is set to take the hill in Monday's season opener against the Nationals, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Nolasco held a solid 1.10 WHIP over 212.1 innings last season, and is being counted on as the ace of the Marlins' rotation in 2009. He should get off to a solid start at home against Washington, who lost 102 games last year.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/22, 3:53 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco threw seven brilliant innings without surrendering a hit to the Tigers on Sunday. He also struck out eight hitters.

Our View: Nolasco has won three games this spring and is beginning to assert himself as a major fantasy player as a front-end member of the Florida rotation.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 3/12, 9:05 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco outdueled Johan Santana on Thursday night, giving up one run off three hits and one walk while striking out four in four innings of work.

Our View: Nolasco emerged as a fantasy stud last season, and while he was roughed up in his first spring start, he's given up just one run and six combined hit and walks in eight innings since. If his past two outings provide any indication, Nolasco could be in line to build off his excellent 2008 season and threaten to gain status as one of the elite pitchers in the game.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 2/28, 4:35 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco didn't look good in his first start of the spring on Saturday, getting tagged for four runs, three of which were earned, on five hits in three innings. He did manage to fan three without walking anyone.

Our View: Nolasco won 15 games in 2008 with an ERA of 3.52, so this was probably just a poor outing. We expect him to be better his next time out, but we'll keep you posted.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 2/17, 12:09 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was very effective in a bullpen session Sunday and catcher John Baker remarked that he looked as if he was throwing in August, according to FishStripes.com.

Our View: Nolasco will be competing to be the No. 1 starter in the Marlins' rotation, and is off to a good start. The 26-year-old looks to be a hot fantasy target for 2009, and should be a solid source for strikeouts in the very least.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 1/22, 10:36 AM CT
Ricky Nolasco intends to be the Marlins' opening day starting pitcher, according to MLB.com. Nolasco said, "It's been on my mind the whole offseason. It's something I want to do."

Our View: Nolasco made a strong case to be their No. 1 starter, as he nailed down 15 wins last season, with 186 strikeouts and a 1.10 WHIP over 212.1 innings. The 26-year-old looks to be a hot fantasy target for 2009.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 1/20, 12:49 PM CT
The Marlins have avoided salary arbitration with pitcher Ricky Nolasco by signing him to a one-year deal worth $2.4 million, according to the Miami Herald. The deal includes incentives.

Our View: Nolasco nailed down 15 wins for the Marlins last season, while maintaining a solid 1.10 WHIP. He also fired 186 strikeouts over 212.1 innings and the 26-year-old looks to be a favorable fantasy target for 2009.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/27, 3:14 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco lost his first decision since August 8 but pitched well against the Mets on Saturday. He had 10 strikeouts in seven innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs.

Our View: Nolasco came into his own this season. He finishes the year 15-8 with 186 strikeouts and a 3.55 ERA.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/22, 3:25 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco issued three earned runs on six hits over six innings in Monday's 7-5 loss to the Reds at the Great American Ballpark, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Our View: He was dealt a no decision and his record remains at 15-7. He has not lost a decision since August 8 (against the Mets), and has allowed three or less earned runs in 11 straight outings.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/17, 9:34 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco earned his 15th victory of the year as he shut down the Astros in Florida on Wednesday. Houston managed two solo home runs of the young righty but those were the only runs they would score.

Our View: Nolasco continues a rather remarkable year and one that was not expected. On top of the wins, he also has 171 strikeouts in 199.1 innings pitched.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/10, 6:43 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco had eight strikeouts while tossing 7.2 innings against the Phillies on Wednesday in his 14th victory of the season. Noalsco walked only one while allowing three runners to cross the plate.

Our View: Nolasco has been simply amazing this year as one of the waiver-wire pickups of the season. Besides the 14 wins, Nolasco owns a 3.56 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP marking him as one of the top-10 starters in the National League thanks in part to a run of 9-straight quality starts.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/24, 6:11 PM CT
Florida's Ricky Nolasco won his 13th game of the season by pitching 7.1 innings of three-hit ball against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs and striking out ten in the team's 5-2 win over Arizona.

Our View: Nolasco has had a great year, displaying great control with the ability to make people swing and miss. Remember his name when fantasy season rolls around next year.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/24, 11:32 AM CT
Florida will try for a rebound today behind its best starting pitcher this season. RHP Ricky Nolasco tops the Marlins with 12 wins for the year to go along with a very solid 3.67 earned run average over 27 games (25 starts), according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Nolasco was on top of his game in Tuesday's outing at San Francisco, firing a complete-game two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to register his first career shutout. The dominating performance improved the 25-year-old to 7-3 in 14 road starts this season. He's also been quite successful when facing the Diamondbacks during his three major league seasons. Nolasco has won all three of his career starts against Arizona and allowed just five runs and 15 hits in 22 1/3 innings over the course of those games. Two of those victories came earlier this year, with Nolasco surrendering just two runs and racking up 16 strikeouts over a span of 15 innings.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/20, 12:16 AM CT
All the credit for tonight's 6-0 win over the Giants goes to Florida RHP Ricky Nolasco, pitching the complete game to allow just two hits, one walk, and striking out 11 batters along the way.

Our View: Nolasco has been surprisingly reliable, now sitting at 12-7 on the season with an ERA or 3.67. Over his last five starts, he's allowed a combined total of 10 earned runs with one walk and 41 strikeouts.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/19, 12:38 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco, who was 5-0 before the All Star break, hasn't been the dominating arm since, but he's also faced off against some stiff competition. The right-hander gave up two runs on 10 hits in six innings to a good hitting Cardinals batting order in his last start, so tonight's task of subduing the Giants will be a cake wake in comparison.

Our View: Florida has the power bats to take advantage of the elements (wind blowing out) tonight, and they have the right pitcher on the mound to shut down the top of the Giants' order. No team is a worse fit to their home park than that of the Giants. San Fran is 17-24 at home against right-handed starters and score a mere 3.78 runs per game. Florida on the other hand is 20-19 on the road against righties and have pounded out an average of 5.46 runs per contest
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/13, 9:31 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was solid in his effort against St. Louis tonight. He went six innings, and though he gave up 10 hits, he surrendered just two earned runs and struck out five.

Our View: Nolasco is certainly worthy of a roster spot on fantasy squads. He has good strikeout totals, a solid WHIP, 11 wins and an ERA that remains under 4.00.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/8, 9:57 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco lasted 6.2 innings on Friday night allowing three runs, including two home runs, to the Mets. The loss was the seventh of the year for Nolasco.

Our View: Nolasco simply had no shot on this night as he was facing a locked in Oliver Perez. Nolasco continues to post quality starts with 10 in his last 12 starts meaning there have been few who have done a better job of giving their team a chance to win on a nightly basis.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/2, 10:50 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco allowed three earned runs on four hits over eight innings in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Rockies, with no walks and 13 strikeouts.

Our View: He improves to 11-6 for the season, and reached double digits in strikeouts for the second time (registered 12 against the Rays on June 15). He also snapped a four-game skid without a win.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 7/28, 10:05 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco struck out eight in six innings against the Mets on Monday. He did not factor into the decision despite allowing just two runs.

Our View: His ERA is hovering at 3.94 and he has pitched better than many expected him to this weekend. He will be depended upon down the stretch in more big games like Monday's as the Marlins fight to get into the playoffs.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/23, 9:31 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco fell to 10-6 after allowing the Braves to score five runs in five innings on Wednesday.

Our View: Nolasco had a streak of 7-straight quality starts that ended after his last start, so he is now 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in his last two trips to the hill. He has been a spectacular waiver-wire pick up so far, but he has also been outperforming his career marks by a substantial margin.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/18, 9:06 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco took the loss for the Marlins in their defeat at the hands of division rival Philadelphia. Nolasco threw seven innings, allowing four runs and striking out five. He also allowed two solo home runs.

Our View: Nolaso struck out five on the night, and though this performance was just average, it should do nothing to discourage fantasy owners from putting him in their lineup when his turn in the rotation comes up again.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/13, 12:40 AM CT
Florida RHP Ricky Nolasco may not have gotten the win but his arm was more than worthy, pitching six innings to allow two runs (both earned) on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 7/7, 11:55 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco won his fifth consecutive, and impressive decision, handcuffing San Diego to one run and five hits in eight innings of work. The right-hander allowed five hits, walked none and struck out seven in his 10th win of the season.

Our View: Nolasco has been fabulous over the last two months, and in the performance the Florida ace lowered his ERA to 3.74. He has struck out 82 hitters and walked 29 in 110.2 innings this year.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/6, 11:44 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco will get the start on Friday at pitcher friendly PetCo Field. He is 7-1 with a 3.10 ERA in his last nine outings, including 4-0 with a 1.96 ERA in his last five.

Our View: Look for Nolasco to keep up his dominant stretch against a struggling Padres offense.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/2, 3:42 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco earned his ninth victory of the season on Wednesday afternoon in a 4-2 victory over the Washington Nationals. The Marlins right-hander allowed two runs on three hits, walked none and struck out eight.

Our View: Nolasco's two runs both came in the first inning when he hit Aaron Boone with a lazy breaking ball, followed by a Ronnie Belliard bloop double off the end of the bat, and then a ground ball single up the middle by Paul Lo Duca. After the first inning the 25-year old dominated the Nats lineup.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/27, 9:08 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco was dominant on the hill in Friday's 3-1 win over Arizona, as he only surrendered one run on six hits over eight innings, with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Our View: He improves to 8-4 with a 4.05 ERA. He is 5-1 over his last seven starts, and should remain in your mixed-league lineups while he is hot.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/16, 2:23 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco has been selected as the NL Co-Player of the Week with Pirates' catcher Ryan Doumit, according to the AP. Nolasco went 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA this past week, while striking out 15 batters in 14.2 innings of work. The righty struck out a career-high 12 over 8.2 innings on Sunday, while locking up the win against the Rays.

Our View: This is the first weekly honor for Nolasco. He is 7-4 overall this season, with a 4.35 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/15, 5:58 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over 8.2 innings in Sunday's convincing 9-3 win over the Rays, with one walk and an eye-opening 12 strikeouts. He is now 7-4 for the season.

Our View: He just missed his first complete game of the season, and his 12 strikeouts are a season-high. He allowed three runs in his last start, none earned, and is pitching very well right now. He is worth targeting if still dangling on the waiver wire.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/10, 9:46 PM CT
Florida RHP Ricky Nolasco picked up his sixth win of the season, pitching six innings to allow three runs (none of which were earned) on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts to give the Marlins the 5-4 win over Philadelphia.

Our View: After a strong 4-1 May with a 3.97 ERA, Nolasco surrendered a horrendous seven earned runs against Atlanta in his first start of June. This win gets him back on track.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/5, 9:57 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco allowed 11 hits and three walks on his way to permitting the Braves to scored seven times in 5.2 innings to fall to 5-4.

Our View: Nolasco had been on quite a role having allowed three of fewer runs in 5-straight starts before getting shelled tonight. As bad as the outing looked, if Chipper Jones had sat this one out Nolasco would of had a good shot at matching his recent run of success with another solid outing.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 5/26, 11:18 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco won his third straight decision allowing three runs on nine hits, walking two and striking out only one as the Marlins put a 7-3 loss on the struggling New York Mets.

Our View: Nolasco still needs to improve his K/9 ratio (5.92) and lower his BB/9 rate (3.33) before he can be considered a mixed league option.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/21, 10:25 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco held the D'Backs offense in check Wednesday, giving up just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings. His ERA dropped to 4.62.

Our View: Nolasco has good stuff, so he's certainly capable of these types of outings. He's still too inconsistent, though, to be relied upon in standard mixed leagues.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/9, 11:19 PM CT
Ricky Nolasco broke a personal three-game losing streak with six strong innings in Friday's 7-3 win over the Nationals. Nolasco allowed one run on four hits, walked two and struck out six.

Our View: The 25-year-old right-hander reportedly corrected some mechanical flaws in his between-game bullpen session and it showed tonight. He was smooth in his delivery and efficient in his pitch count for the most of five innings.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 4/27, 5:43 PM CT

Ricky Nolasco , on pace to become a starter of significance for a hurting Florida rotation, suffered through a difficult outing in the Marlins’ 8-2 loss to the Mets in Grapefruit League action today, according to the Associated Press. Nolasco pitched two innings, surrendering seven hits and a whopping six runs with two walks and a strikeout. The Marlins may be struggling for comfort at this point as several of the team’s primary starters are suffering from injury and Nolasco was viewed as one of the few healthy-and-capable arms in the rotation. Today’s outing shows he may not be ready for the show just yet. Meanwhile, RHP prospect Burke Badenhop looked strong, allowing just three hits through four innings without a run scored. It seems like a long shot, but with the woes that have already become an issue, Badenhop may be in the mix for a starting job.
Ricky Nolasco, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/9, 4:43 PM CT

"It is a lot easier to know that I can concentrate on one thing that comes the most natural to me," he said. "But even if the time comes down the road where they want to push me to the bullpen, that's fine." Nolasco, who is projected as the club's No. 4 starter, was touched for four runs in five innings by the Astros Thursday. The Marlins originally toyed with the idea of giving the right-hander a look in the closer role this spring, but those plans came to a halt when it was learned that Josh Johnson would miss at least the first two months of the season.
