Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/9, 5:03 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that Carlos Quentin underwent successful surgery to remove a pin from his wrist and visited a foot doctor to re-examine his ailing left foot.

Our View: The doctor found no abnormalities and Quentin was cleared to proceed with his offseason conditioning. He will begin swinging a bat in 30 days and looks to be 100 percent healthy at the start of spring training. With all Quentin's ailments behind him, expect him to have a season more like 2008 that the disappointing showing he had this year.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 10/5, 6:28 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is slated for surgery Tuesday to remove a pin from his surgically repaired right wrist, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: The Tribune also suggests that the star outfielder could benefit from a slight weight loss to take stress off his leg, namely his left foot.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 10/3, 9:29 PM CT
Carlos Quentin double and homered in the White Sox 5-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday.

Our View: Quentin was 2-for-3 on the day and also scored two runs and stole his third base of the season. His injuries must have finally subsided because the slugger has homers in back to back games and four in his last five contests.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/2, 9:08 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with two RBI in tonight's 8-0 win at Detroit. He hit a single and a solo homer off Edwin Jackson.

Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Sunday, helping the White Sox to an 8-4 win over Detroit at home.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/26, 9:27 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit a three-run homer in the 4th inning on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Sox got blown out by the Tigers 12-5.

Our View: Quentin has three homers and 14 RBI this month, but is hitting just .250. Still, that doesn't seem so bad considering his average on the season is just .233. He'll be happy when this injury plagued season is in the books and he can start fresh next year.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/19, 9:25 PM CT
Carlos Quentin crushed a grand slam in the fifth inning of Saturday's 13-3 pounding of the Royals. He was 2-for-4 on the day.

Our View: Quentin hasn't exactly sizzled in September. He's hitting just .269 with two homers and ten RBI on the month, and most of that came from Saturday's big swing.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 9/17, 2:32 PM CT

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 9/13, 5:59 PM CT
Carlos Quentin provided the offense for the White Sox on Sunday but it wasn't enough. He drove in two with a 1-for-4 effort, but Chicago fell 3-2 to the Angels.

Our View: Quentin just can't seem to get it going at the plate since returning from injury this season. He hasn't hit .300 by a long shot in any month this year and in September he's hit just one home run and had only driven in four runs all month before Sunday's two-RBI game.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 8/22, 10:25 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI in the White Sox's 4-1 win over the Orioles.

Our View: Quentin has been slowed by injury as of late, and he has not put up the huge numbers he did last season with the team. Quentin is now hitting .233 on the season, and fantasy owners should make sure they don't play him in front of a better player just because of the season he had last year.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 8/22, 3:16 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is in the White Sox lineup Saturday night against the Orioles, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/6, 12:32 PM CT

Carlos Quentin had a nice afternoon on Friday, but the White Sox fell to the Tigers by a score of 5-1. Quentin went 2-for-3 with a double in the game.

Our View: Quentin looks pretty good after his return from injury, and when he is healthy he is still an elite hitter. Don't expect the major home run power that he showed last year, but overall he can be a very solid fantasy outfielder going forward in the second half.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/21, 10:14 AM CT
According to MLB.com, White Sox' manager Ozzie Guillen removed outfielder Carlos Quentin in the ninth inning of Monday's game for defensive purposes. Guillen plans to be cautious with Quentin as he continues to recover from plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Our View: Quentin has already missed two months of the season, and Guillen doesn't want to take any chances with him right now. Expect Quentin to get periodic days off and to be replaced later in games for the next few weeks or so. He may miss out on a few at-bats, but overall it will have no effect on his fantasy value.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/20, 10:38 PM CT
Carlos Quentin (foot) went 1-for-4 in his return from the DL for the White Sox on Monday.

Our View: It had been rumored that Quentin wouldn't be ready to be activated when he rehab stint ended at the end of the week, but apparently he is feeling good enough to rejoin the team tonight. He may still be a little banged up, but he could be a nice boost for those of you who held onto him.

Our View: The Sox probably wish he could have played the field, but the fact that he is playing at all is encouraging. Quentin should return to the lineup at some point in the near future, but don't expect him to put up the numbers he did last season. He will be dealing with this foot injury all season.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 7/9, 11:25 AM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that White Sox' outfielder Carlos Quentin is not expected to return to the team for a while. Quentin is 4-for-8 in his first three rehab games, but coaches believe he is still having trouble running.

Our View: The Sox were hopeful they would have Quentin by the weekend, but it looks like it will be after the All-Star break for sure at this point. He will probably not be 100 percent for most of the year, but he is worth keeping on your roster and activating when he returns.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 7/5, 9:39 PM CT

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 7/2, 10:36 AM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, injured outfielder Carlos Quentin is "getting closer" and could be headed for a Minor League rehab assignment in the near future.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/26, 6:16 PM CT

Quentin ran the bases, fielded some grounders and engaged in batting practice today, and he said, "I was a little winded, but it went well. Nothing spiked or elevated as far as the pain. It was kind of a dull ache, and that is what we expected, so we will go from there."

Our View: Quentin remains optimistic of returning to Chicago at some point around the All-Star break. The slugger shall remain patiently stashed on fantasy rosters.

Sounds like he won't be ready for a while.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/21, 7:45 AM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, injured outfielder Carlos Quentin (plantar fasciitis) is moving a round better, but still needs to wear a protective boot after workouts.

Our View: Sounds like Quentin is still a ways off. Plantar fasciitis is a lingering ailment and even when he returns to the lineup it may still very well affect his performance. Still, keep him stashed on your roster as his potential is worth the risk.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/16, 9:36 PM CT

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/10, 5:18 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that manager Ozzie Guillen does not believe Carlos Quentin will be available until the all-star break. He reports that Quentin tore a tendon in his foot on May 25 and just recently began jogging.

Our View: This is tough news for Quentin owners as he was eligible to return this week. It now appears as though he will miss another month. Scott Podsednik and Brian Anderson will fill in for him until he is able to return.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/9, 10:38 AM CT
Carlos Quentin, suffering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot, does not believe he will be ready to be activated from the disabled list when he is eligible on Wednesday according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Quentin has not played since May 25. After his breakout year in 2008, he is hitting only .229 in 38 games this season. He has still hit 8 home runs and gathered 29 RBIs though, and should remain a decent fantasy option once he returns from the DL.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/6, 7:59 AM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, the plantar fasciitis in Carlos Quentin's foot is improving.

Our View: There is still no return date for 2008's surprise slugger, but he's been taking swings and says that with each passing day the injury is getting better. Quentin's return would mean a big boost to the White Sox offense and fantasy rosters as well.

Our View: Quentin could be heading to the DL, but the team will wait to find out the results of his tests. Manage Ozzie Guillen seems concerned, so owners should prepare to be without him, at least until Monday.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/25, 11:34 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit an RBI double in his first at bat on Monday against the Angels, but he irritated his plantar fasciitis injury while running the bases. He was lifted for pinch-runner Brian Anderson.

Our View: Quentin has already missed a week's worth of action due to the injury, and he could be looking at some more missed time. This type of injury tends to linger so it may be wise to keep him out of your lineups until he returns to the starting lineup.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 5/22, 6:07 PM CT
Carlos Quentin will serve as the White Sox DH on Friday night, according to the Chicago Tribune. He has missed a week's worth of action due to plantar fasciitis. He has been fitted with insoles to ease the pain.

Carlos Quentin is expected to miss another game Wednesday while still recovering from a sore left foot/heel, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/19, 3:05 PM CT
Carlos Quentin will miss another game Tuesday while recovering from a sore left foot/heel, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Scott Podsednik will replace him in left field when the Sox start a series with the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. It is uncertain when Quentin may return, and should remain held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/18, 11:53 AM CT
Outfielder Carlos Quentin (heel) is out of the lineup again for Monday's game in Toronto. He returned to Chicago on Sunday to receive shockwave treatment on his sore left heel/foot.

Our View: We are waiting to hear another update on the injured slugger. The Sox didn't seem to be too worried about this heel problem last week, but it continues to linger. We can't help but wonder if this is a bigger deal than everyone is letting on.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/17, 11:47 AM CT
Carlos Quentin is expected to return to Chicago to receive treatment on his sore left foot, according to the Chicago Tribune. The pain has moved from his heel to the mid-foot area.

Our View: He will not play today at Toronto, but the Sox do not expect him to miss significant time, and noted that the ailment did not get worse. Scott Podsednik is covering left field today in his place.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/16, 1:05 PM CT
After being originally slated to hit sixth in Saturday's contest, Carlos Quentin was a late scratch.

Our View: Quentin has been bothered by a sore heel lately and it likely flared up enough to yank him from the lineup. We'll update his status as soon as we know the extent of the injury.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/13, 11:16 AM CT
Carlos Quentin, who injured his left heel during the first game of a doubleheader on April 28, said that a cortisone shot made him feel better and he expects to return to the diamond Friday night at Toronto, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/9, 10:20 PM CT
Carlos Quentin broke out a bit on Saturday with two doubles and an RBI in three trips as the White Sox nipped the Rangers 3-2.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/29, 4:20 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hammered out his eighth home run of the season in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Mariners. He finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Our View: Eight of Quentin's 19 hits have left the ballpark. He is hitting just .253 but he has been a phenomenal source of power in the early going.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/26, 4:40 PM CT
Carlos Quentin was just 1-for-4 on Sunday in Chicago's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays. His average is sitting at a pedestrian .246.

Our View: The big worry with Quentin was that his power would disappear after the wrist injury, which clearly hasn't happened. But the new concern is his extremely low average. Nearly half of his hits are home runs, so if he's not going deep, he's not doing much of anything.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/24, 4:35 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is back in the lineup for the White Sox after being hit in the hand with a pitch on Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: The X-rays were negative on Quentin's hand, so he is safe to deploy in all fantasy leagues. Quentin has seven home runs on the young season, proving his huge 2008 campaign wasn't a fluke.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/24, 12:23 PM CT
Carlos Quentin suffered a bruised left hand in the eighth inning of Thursday's battle with Baltimore, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/19, 5:30 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his seventh home run of the season in Sunday's 12-2 win over the Rays. It was his only hit in four at bats, and he finished with two RBI.

Our View: Quentin has hit a home run in three straight games and it looks as if he has picked up where he left off last season. Obviously that's pretty great news for his fantasy owners as he was in line to win the AL MVP before suffering a broken wrist in September.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/18, 9:42 PM CT
Carlos Quentin had a big day at the dish on Saturday as the White Sox downed the Rays 8-3. He was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. The homer was his sixth.

Our View: Quentin has now homered in back-to-back games and looks like the premier power hitter of last season. Concerns of his power being sapped by a wrist injury (see Derrek Lee) and no longer an issue. He's gotten the average up too, hitting .308.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/17, 10:47 PM CT
Outfielder Carlos Quentin socked his fifth homer of the season on Friday night. It was a solo shot and his only hit against the Rays.

Our View: Quentin is only batting .257 thus far, but we're not worried about his average. We had some lingering concerns about his power coming back this season. Those worried have been erased.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/14, 12:29 PM CT
The White Sox game at Detroit today has been postponed due to rain.

Our View: We will keep you posted when a makeup date is set.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/13, 3:30 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 3-for-4 with four RBI in Monday's 10-6 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park. He hit a single and two homers.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/11, 7:15 PM CT
Carlos Quentin was 2-for-4 with a home run on Saturday as the White Sox whipped the Twins 8-0. The home run was his second in as many games.

Our View: Qentin got off to a slow start, but appears to be figuring it out. There was concern that the wrist injury he suffered at the end of last season would sap his power, but he looks to be snuffing out any doubt that he lost his pop.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/25, 6:16 PM CT
Carlos Quentin had a rough day at the plate Wednesday, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and left four runners stranded. He's now hitting .264.

Our View: There are still concerns about Quentin's power being sapped by a wrist injury last season, and he's having a rough spring, but he's still a very talented player and should be a lock to reach the century mark in RBI if he stays healthy.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/22, 8:23 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his second home run of the spring on a 2-for-3 day against the A's. He also had a double to go with two runs scored and four RBI.

Our View: Quentin's first home run came on Thursday, but prior to that, he was missing the pop that made him such a breakout star last season. He will hit in the heart of the White Sox order in 2009 and should easily reach 100 RBI if healthy.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/19, 6:08 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his first home run of the spring in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Giants. The solo shot was his only hit in four at-bats.

Our View: Quentin's lack of power this spring has raised some concerns regarding how much he had lost after his left wrist surgery. He hit 36 round-trippers in just 480 at-bats a year ago, but it seems unlikely he will return to that rate in 2009.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/15, 7:02 PM CT
Carlos Quentin was 2-for-6 with a triple, four RBI, and two runs scored as the White Sox beat the Mariners 15-5 on Sunday. He played all nine innings in left field.

Our View: In 33 at-bats this spring, Quentin has yet to go deep and we're starting to believe that maybe the wrist surgery he had did in fact zap a little of his power. In only 480 at-bats last season, he belted 36 home runs. A lot of his value comes from playing at The Cell, and that won't change. However, it is unlikely he hits four-baggers with such regularity this season.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 3/9, 7:27 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is still struggling for the White Sox, going 0-for-2 with a walk on Monday.

Our View: Quentin has been held to a .222 average this spring and may take a bit longer to regain his form from last season than previously hoped.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/5, 5:21 PM CT
Carlos Quentin was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers. Slumping for most of the spring, he raised his average to .214.

Our View: It's nice to see Quentin start hitting. However, fantasy mavins are still waiting to find out if that wrist injury sapped his power. If healthy, Quentin will rake.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 2/25, 11:51 PM CT
Carlos Quentin signed a one-year deal with the White Sox on Wednesday worth $550,000, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Quentin was a top candidate for the AL MVP before a wrist injury forced him to miss the last month of the season in 2008. He's expected to be a big part of the White Sox lineup in 2009, assuming his power remains the same.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 2/16, 5:44 PM CT
MLB.com reports that White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen believes that slugger Carlos Quentin will avoid a sophomore slump with the team because he hits to all fields, has a good batting eye, and will not be relied upon to carry the team's offense.

Our View: Sophomore slump? By our count, this will be his fourth season in the majors. Perhaps Ozzie was referencing the fact that it is just his second season with the White Sox. Our concern is the nature of his wrist injury and whether or not his explosive power will still be evident. To date, he has not reported any limitations.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 1/30, 8:14 PM CT
Carlos Quentin will be ready for spring training, according to the Associated Press. Quentin broke his wrist in September, which required him to have surgery and forced him to miss the remainder of the season, including the playoffs.

Our View: Quentin will certainly be hot commodity in fantasy this year after he cranked 36 home runs and 100 RBI in just 480 at-bats while hitting .288.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 1/28, 8:38 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox have the right to remove Carlos Quentin from the World Baseball Classic if he were to make the team. He is currently slated to train with Team USA.

Our View: Quentin broke his wrist in September, which derailed him from a possible MVP award. He has been hitting since November and he is expected to be at full strength.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 11/14, 1:54 PM CT
Carlos Quentin has resumed participating in batting practice last week and indicated that he felt no ill effects from the right wrist fracture that ended his season in early September, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Quentin broke out with 36 homers and 100 RBI in 2008 in only 130 games, and will be among the top fantasy outfielders for 2009 if he can bounce back healthy.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 11/13, 5:25 PM CT
Carlos Quentin won his first career Silver Slugger award on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Quentin had a breakout season in 2008. He nearly won the AL home run title even after missing the last month of the regular season with a broken wrist. Quentin also reached 100 RBI while batting .288 and should be a reliable fantasy option in 2009.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 10/6, 7:16 PM CT
Carlos Quentin (wrist) took BP on Monday for the second straight day and even did some light throwing, according to the Associated Press. “Yesterday it felt great and today I threw long before BP, and it felt really good,” he said.

Our View: The majority of Quentin's fly balls fell short of the wall on the warning track, but the fact that he is swinging as well as throwing is a great sign that his wrist has greatly improved. Still, he hasn't played since September 1st and wrist injuries are notorious for sapping hitters pop, so it remains to be seen if he will be activated should the Sox move on.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 10/6, 9:29 AM CT
Carlos Quentin could be ready for the ALCS if the Sox can get past the Rays, according to the Chicago Tribune. He looked good while ripping line drives Sunday in pregame batting practice.

Our View: He is recovering from a broken right wrist, which is still painful, but would try to play through it if the Sox advance. He would provide a boost as he hit 36 homers over 130 games in the regular season prior to going down.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/3, 9:38 AM CT
One day after White Sox slugger Carlos Quentin said it was possible he could return if the team made it to the ALCS, manager Ozzie Guillen shot that report down, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "Not going to be easy for him. When you get a pin in your body and you're going to hit, that's why I say I don't expect him to play until next year in spring training," Guillen said.

Our View: Quentin said his broken wrist was still painful, but that he would try to play through it. Right now, the Sox need to worry about beating the Rays, who took down Chicago in Game 1.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 10/2, 7:48 AM CT
White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin said he is feeling good enough that he believes he will be ready to go if the team makes it to the ALCS, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 10/1, 8:16 PM CT
Carlos Quentin has been left off the White Sox playoff roster according to the AP.

Our View: Quentin led the AL in home runs when he broke his right wrist on Sept. 1 after slamming it on his bat in frustration. He has not given up on playing again should the White Sox advance in the postseason, and was hitting off a tee.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 9/26, 8:13 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is making strides in his recovery from wrist surgery, according to the AP. He was re-evaluated Friday and the X-rays of the fracture Quentin suffered on September 1 looked great and he was definitely making progress.

Our View: This is encouraging news, but there's still no timetable set for Quentin's return.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/23, 11:36 PM CT
Carlos Quentin did his most extensive work yet since his wrist surgery, and though he would not commit to a return at any point this season, he was happy with his progress, according to WhiteSox.com. "I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it heals as quickly as possible," Quentin said.

Our View: Quentin did not completely rule out coming back in the postseason, but it does not seem likely at this point.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 9/19, 7:49 PM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, Carlos Quentin took dry swings Friday for the first time since suffering the injury September 1. He said the wrist feels stiff but not painful. Quentin said he has tried various methods of accelerating the healing to be ready "as soon as possible," such as taking several vitamins, using a bone stimulator and spending time in a hyperbaric chamber. Quentin's wrist looked red and somewhat puffy.

Our View: Don't expect him back this season, but he could be ready for the postseason if the White Sox make it. The outfielder was having an MVP-like season before breaking his wrist and his 36 home runs and 100 RBI still lead the team.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 9/18, 6:25 PM CT
The White Sox are hoping that Carlos Quentin can return to the team during the playoffs, according to the AP. On Wednesday, Quentin had his cast removed and will resume baseball activity on Friday.

Our View: Before Quentin went down with an injury, he was making a strong case for the AL MVP. If the Sox can get him back for the playoffs it would be a huge bat back in their lineup.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 9/17, 7:35 PM CT
Carlos Quentin will rejoin the White Sox in Kansas City on Friday and will be able to test his right wrist with swings according to the Chicago Tribune. An examination revealed that the fracture has lined up but, as expected, hasn't completely healed. A soft cast was removed and Quentin was allowed to resume baseball work. He started range of motion drills Wednesday and will resume swinging on Friday. He is being examined daily.

Our View: Quentin was arguably the AL MVP before breaking his wrist due to his exceptional power (.571 slugging percentage). It would be optimistic to think he will return so soon and produce such prolific numbers. Ozzie Guillen has been adament about not rushing him back and it is entirely possible that he does not hit again for the rest of the regular season.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/9, 7:05 PM CT
The White Sox are holding out hope that outfielder Carlos Quentin could return for the playoffs, the AP reports. He underwent surgery on Monday to stabilize his broken right wrist. "It’s going to take awhile," manager Ozzie Guillen says. "Hopefully, if we make the playoffs, we can count on him in the playoffs. Right now, to get to the playoffs, I don’t think he can help out."

Our View: Quentin certainly won't be able to help fantasy teams any more this season. The White Sox still have some work to do before they can start making postseason plans.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/9, 12:18 PM CT
Carlos Quentin underwent surgery Monday on his broken wrist, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He had a pin inserted into the wrist, and was placed in a soft cast.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 9/5, 2:35 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Carlos Quentin is going to undergo surgery on his broken wrist Monday and could miss the remainder of the season, according to the AP.

Our View: A screw will be inserted into the wrist, and he will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks. This is a critical blow to the AL Central contending Sox, as well as fantasy owners, as Quentin leads the AL with 36 homers.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 9/5, 1:11 PM CT
Carlos Quentin's season could be in jeopardy after the team received MRI results on his left forearm and wrist Friday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: It's not clear yet exactly what is wrong with Quentin, but obviously this would be a massive blow to the White Sox and fantasy owners alike. We'll keep you updated on his status.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 9/4, 8:24 AM CT
White Sox MVP candidate Carlos Quentin should be ready to play on Friday, as should Ken Griffey Jr., according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Quentin had been dealing with a sore left forearm, and Griffey with back issues.

Our View: The sooner Quentin can return to the lineup for fantasy owners, the better. He has been fabulous this season, and could win the AL MVP, as he is closing in on 40 home runs while already accumulating 100 RBI.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 9/3, 12:36 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is out of Wednesday's lineup due to a sore left forearm, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Manager Ozzie Guillen said, "Quentin tried swinging the bat, he was not swinging the bat well and I don’t want to put him in a bad situation where he gets four at-bats and it gets worse. That’s the way he feels. When he says he’s sore, that means he’s very sore. Today we’ll make the decision."

Our View: He is considered day-to-day, and may be out until the weekend. Ken Griffey Jr. is also dealing with a sore back, as is third baseman Joe Crede.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/2, 6:40 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday. The left fielder is still suffering from a sore left forearm.

Our View: Jerry Owens get's his first start in center field with Ken Griffey Jr. also ailing.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/27, 7:52 PM CT
Carlos Quentin was noticeably absent from White Sox pregame drills and batting practice on Wednesday at Camden Yards, but it was an absence ordered by White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, according to MLB.com. The intense young outfielder has played in 126 of the team's 132 games entering the series finale against the Orioles, posting statistics worthy of serious American League Most Valuable Player consideration. But when Guillen decided to give Quentin the day off before Thursday's scheduled break, he wanted to make sure Quentin didn't arrive at the ballpark until about one hour before game time. Otherwise, the Sox fear he would ignore their demands to take a full day off and would be taking BP regardless.

Our View: With a .398 on-base percentage, Quentin started Wednesday tied with Alex Rodriguez for fifth in the AL in this category. It shows Quentin's keen batting eye at the plate. But Quentin also has a .385 average and 11 home runs when putting the first pitch of a particular at-bat in play, exhibiting his aggressiveness on offense.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/24, 4:42 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit home run number 36 on the year and drove in two runs, giving him 99 on the season, in helping lead the White Sox to a 6-5 win over Tampa.

Our View: It's hard not to think of the Diamondbacks and how terrible of a trade it was for them to make when they shipped him out, especially since they had to trade prospects to get an inferior hitter who gets paid a lot more in Adam Dunn. Quentin is an MVP candidate.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/17, 6:30 PM CT
The pitching was getting the work done, but MVP-candidate Carlos Quentin made sure the deal was done in pushing the offense for the 13-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. Quentin went 2-for-3 with his 34th homer of the season, totaling four RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Quentin's name is starting to look more and more attractive to MVP voters. He's hitting .375 through August with six homers and 12 RBIs after totaling nine homers and 22 RBIs in July.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/14, 6:31 PM CT
White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin was hit by a pitch on Thursday for the sixth consecutive game, and is the only player to have "accomplished" the feat since 1920, according to the AP.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 8/12, 7:04 PM CT
White Sox left fielder Carlos Quentin was scratched from Tuesday night's lineup because of general soreness from getting hit by pitches in five consecutive games, according to ChicagoSports.com. He is listed as day-to-day.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/10, 4:35 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his 32nd home run of the season, a two-run shot, and the White Sox took down Boston.

Our View: Quentin was always a good prospect, but Arizona soured on him, and shipped him to Chicago, who is now reaping the rewards right alongside fantasy owners.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/6, 12:20 AM CT
Carlos Quentin continues to put the White Sox on his shoulder. He went 4-for-7 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI in Tuesday's 14-inning win over the Tigers. His 29 long balls lead the AL.

Our View: If not for the efforts of Josh Hamilton, more people would probably be talking about Quentin as the year's most surprising offensive talent. He could be in the MVP discussion once it heats up.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/30, 10:11 PM CT
The White Sox put the hurt to Minnesota tonight, turning 15 hits into eight runs for the dominating 8-3 win. For Chicago the effort was led by outfielder Carlos Quentin , going 3-for-5 with his 19th double and 28th homer of the season, posting four RBIs and one run scored on the night.

Our View: That's an amazing nine home runs for 22 RBIs thus far through July. Add 20 runs scored and you have to rank Quentin as one of, if not the, hottest bats in the game right now.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 7/26, 9:28 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with a hoome run and two RBI in the White Sox victory over Detroit. Quentin is now hitting .363 since July 11.

Our View: Quentin has been among the most pleasant of surprises for fantasy owners, and he now has 27 homers on the year, and could make a push for 40 by year's end.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/23, 5:58 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit two home runs, including a game winning shot off of Rangers closer C.J. Wilson on Wednesday. This was the third time this season that Quentin has hit two home runs in a game.

Our View: Quentin has pushed his totals up to 26 home runs and 76 RBI, simply massive production from a bat that wasn't even believed to be worthy of starting at the beginning of the year (something Jerry Owens owners won't soon forget).
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/21, 10:13 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Rangers. He accounted for the team's only run.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 7/13, 7:35 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his 22nd home run of the season in Sunday's 12-11 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/9, 11:51 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit his 20th and 21st home run helping the White Sox to a 7-6 come-from-behind victory. Both home runs came off of KC starter Brian Bannister.

Our View: Quentin had one of his worst games on Tuesday leaving a half a dozen runners in scoring position. Forgetting his Tuesday struggles the young outfielder comes back and keeps his team in the game recording two runs and four RBI in the 2-for-3 performance.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/29, 9:58 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit a solo homer in Sunday night's win over the Cubs. It was his second straight game with a long ball, and he is tied with Josh Hamilton for the AL lead with 19 home runs.

Our View: Quentin's production has dropped off a little bit in June, but fantasy owners can hardly complain. When people drafted Quentin, they probably were only expecting 19 homers for the entire season.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/28, 6:23 PM CT
Carlos Quentin hit the go-ahead home run leading off the bottom of the seventh Saturday helping the White Sox made it two straight over the Cubs with a 6-5 victory. The home run was Quentin's 18th of the season.

Our View: Quentin behind in the count, 0-2, when Carlos Marmol threw a fastball over the outside of the plate allowing Quentin to literally punch the ball into the right field bullpen.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/27, 6:17 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI in Friday's 10-3 bashing of the Cubs at US Cellular Field. He had one double and three singles.

Our View: In 29 games in May, Quentin hit .290 (31-for-107) with seven homers and 27 RBI, with five doubles and 15 runs scored. He also hit his first career grand slam against the Angels on May 15. Quentin has proven to be among the best acquisitions of the off-season.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/1, 12:21 PM CT
Carlos Quentin will get the day off on Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Nick Swisher is starting in left field, and Brian Anderson is in center.

Our View: Quentin isn't injured, so fantasy owners shouldn't panic. The rising star has played in 54 of 55 games, and it's just a good time to take a breather.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/28, 2:21 PM CT
Carlos Quentin had only one hit against the Indians on Wednesday, but it was a two-run double. He also chipped in a sacrifice fly and finished with three RBI. The outfielder has driven in 26 runs over 26 games in May.

Our View: The 25-year-old Quentin continues his ascent up the fantasy rankings. We hate to sound like doubters, but it may be a good time to sell high on the former D'Back.

Our View: Over his last 18 games, he's batting .353 with six home runs and 20 RBI. He is batting .302 for the season with 14 homers and 44 RBI over 49 games. He has proven to be a steal for Chicago, as well as fantasy owners so far this season.

Our View: The kid has been impressive to say the least. Along with his 12 long balls the left fielder has 38 RBI and 31 runs scored. Throw in four stolen bases and the mix equals fantasy stud.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/18, 10:35 PM CT
Carlos Quentin had another in a long line of strong outings on Sunday as he blasted a deep home run on a 2-for-5 day.

Our View: Quentin looks like a monster at the plate this season almost as if his body is now possessed by someone other than the slug we saw on the field last year with the D'backs.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/11, 12:45 AM CT
The Chicago White Sox put the 8-4 whooping on the Seattle Mariners this evening, led (in part) by LF Carlos Quentin . Quentin went 3-for-5 with his ninth home run of the season, totaling three RBIs on the evening.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/8, 4:55 PM CT
Carlos Quentin had two hits, and RBI and stole his third base of the season for the Sox on Thursday.

Our View: The team announced that Jerry Owens is fully healthy but that they will leave him in the minors with Quentin playing so well, so breathe easy if you had been worrying about it.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/8, 1:44 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is batting second in the White Sox order today, according to the Star Tribune. Alexei Ramirez is leading off as well, while Nick Swisher moved down to sixth in the order.

Our View: The White Sox are 15-17 following a solid start, and Manager Ozzie Guillen wanted to change the lineup around for today. Quentin's RBI potential will be compromised from the two spot, but he has good potential to add to his eight season homers, while being protected in the order ahead of Jim Thome and Paul Konerko. His chances to score runs will increase from the second spot as well.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/3, 4:26 PM CT

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/26, 3:29 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 1-for-3 and registered Chicago's lone RBI in a 5-1 loss to Baltimore on Saturday, according to MLB.com. He now has 18 RBI over 20 games played this season.

Our View: Quentin also collected five homers over the 20 games this season, and the team will have a tough decision to make in their outfield when Jerry Owens is ready to be activated from the DL. A platoon seems likely between the pair.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 4/17, 9:45 PM CT
Carlos Quentin is having quite a week. After going 1-for-3 with a home run in a 4-1 win over Oakland on Tuesday, the outfielder was 2-for-3 on Thursday, with both hits coming in the form of home runs.

Our View: Quentin raised his average to .244, has four home runs, 11 runs and 15 RBI on the season. Not bad for a player that was going to fill a platoon or utility role heading into the season. Once Jerry Owens is activated from the disabled list, the team has a tough decision to make. What do they do with Quentin? Maybe the question should be what do they do with Owens? It's possible that Swisher will remain in center field and Quentin in right leaving Owens on the bench.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/15, 3:52 PM CT
Carlos Quentin went 1-for-3 and blasted a three-run homer in a 4-1 win over Oakland on Tuesday. That was his second home run of the season, and he notably racked up 13 RBI over 11 games.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/4, 3:43 PM CT
Carlos Quentin collected his first homer and RBI of the season on Friday, thanks to a two-run shot off of Nate Robertson. Quentin did not play in the first two games and is 3-for-9 over the last two outings. He figures to be part of a platoon in the crowded White Sox outfield.

Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 3/28, 7:38 AM CT
Carlos Quentin has locked up a spot on the White Sox's 25-man roster, according to the Chicago Tribune. He had a slow start this spring due to his recovery from shoulder surgery and a bout with the flu, but he has seven hits in his last 15 at-bats. Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 3/10, 11:27 PM CT
Carlos Quentin returned to game action on Monday after spending some time on the sidelines to rest his surgically repaired shoulder, this according to MLB.com. Quentin went 2-for-5 on the day. "Am I there yet?" Quentin asked. "No, I'm not there as far as getting my timing down. But strength-wise, my shoulder feels even better." Quentin is in a battle for the starting LF role this season and he would appear to be the teams top choice to man the spot if he can prove that he is healthy.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/5, 3:24 PM CT
The White Sox will shut down Carlos Quentin for a few days in order to rest his surgically repaired left shoulder. "This kid is going to be here for good and I think he was creating bad habits with his swing and it led to some soreness, but he'll be fine," manager Ozzie Guillen tells the Chicago Tribune. We're beginning to wonder if Quentin's shoulder will cause him to open the year back in the minors. He remains an intriguing long-term prospect, but this injury and a crowded outfield cloud his 2008 value.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 12/3, 12:29 PM CT
The White Sox are expected to announce today they've acquired Carlos Quentin from Arizona in exchange for first baseman Chris Carter, according to MLB Radio. Quentin hit just .214 in 81 games in 2007 due to injury problems, but he still has good upside and could find regular playing time in Chicago's outfield. Carlos Quentin stated Wednesday that he would likely undergo surgery after the season to repair a torn labrum he suffered during spring training, according to the Arizona Republic. "I figure I might as well," he said. "When the off-season comes around, fix it. We'll confront that when the season ends. When you get an opportunity to fix something you should fix it so mentally and physically you know nothing's wrong with you." Quentin, who hit just .210 in 200 at-bats with the Diamondbacks, is batting .375 (10-for-32) in 10 games since being sent down to Triple-A.

And when he doesn't, he can get down on himself a little bit." Scott Hairston replaced Quentin in the lineup.

"We were trying to push it for opening day and that was a little too fast," Quentin said. "Mostly, we're ahead of schedule. I'm trying to build up strength, do all the necessary steps. The best-case scenario is to rehab it for two, three weeks and I won't feel it."

"If we get a little deeper than that and we don't feel we can get him enough at-bats to get ready for the start of the season, then you look to backdate (place him on the DL). But we haven't come to any conclusions as far as that goes."

An MRI has showed that Carlos Quentin has a small tear in the labrum of his non-throwing shoulder, according to MLB.com. Quentin will not be swinging a bat for approximately 10 days. "He will continue to do all his throwing and his running," said manager Bob Melvin. "The only thing he can't do is hit." The injury puts Quentin's status for opening day in question, but Melvin isn't ruling him out yet. "We'll start him with some batting practice, and then see if we can get him in some game situations," said Melvin. "Once it calms down, it becomes how quickly we can get him in a cage and start swinging. We'll see where we are at somewhere around the 26th and see if we can get him ready to start the season."
