Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 3/13, 3:44 PM CT
Delmon Young went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts against the Phillies on Saturday.

Our View: He is now hitting just .200 this spring. As per usual, temper your expectations for him heading into 2010.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 2/25, 7:09 PM CT
MLB Network's Peter Gammons reports that Delmon Young is in the best "shape of his life," "figuring it out" and ready for a "breakout."

Our View: We have heard this before, but since the report is coming from Mr. Gammons, it could have some credence. You could do worse when it comes to late round fliers in mixed leagues.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 1/19, 2:48 PM CT
The Twins and Delmon Young have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.6 million deal, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Joe Christensen.

Our View: Young has been pretty disappointing in his career thus far, though he is still just 24 years old. With Carlos Gomez's departure, you can expect Young to play every day and have a chance at tapping into his considerable potential.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 10/4, 6:09 PM CT
Delmon Young continues to rake as the Twins march towards the postseason. He launched two solo homers in a 13-4 win over the Royals that earned them a one-game playoff against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Our View: Young waited until the end of the season to find his power stroke, but the Twins couldn't be happier. He has 12 long balls on the year, but three have come in the last three days and he's driven in ten over that stretch.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 10/3, 6:21 PM CT
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with three RBI in a clutch win for the Twins on Saturday. With their 5-4 victory over the Royals they sit just half a game behind Detroit, who plays later tonight.

Our View: Young appears to be on a late season tear. Not only does he own a seven-game hitting streak, but he's driven in eight runs in his past two games. If the Twins make the postseason, his recent surge will be a big reason why.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 9/30, 9:38 PM CT
Delmon Young fared well in tonight's tough 7-2 loss at Detroit, as he went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI.

Our View: Young has a hit in four straight games, and is batting .309 this month - which is good since he only hit .262 in August.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 8/20, 10:54 PM CT
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with a single and a solo homer off Derek Holland, and recorded the Twins' lone RBI in tonight's 11-1 loss at Texas.

Our View: Young is enjoying a power surge, as he hit a homer in three of his last five games. He crushed five homers so far in August, after only hitting one homer in each of the previous two months.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 6/19, 10:08 PM CT
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 5-2 win over the Astros at the Metrodome. Both of his knocks were doubles.

Our View: Young recorded his fifth multi-hit game of June, and is hitting better after struggling in May with a .236 batting average.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 6/12, 4:38 PM CT
Delmon Young had his second straight two hit game in the Twins 7-4 victory over the Cubs on Friday, and now has a six game hitting streak.

Our View: The underachieving former phenom has risen his average from .231 to .257 during the streak. If he continues to hit like this for a few more weeks, he might be worth a flier in deeper leagues.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 6/11, 11:15 AM CT
Delmon Young has a five-game hitting streak and has batted .333 (6-for-18) in that span, according to the Star-Tribune. He had three RBI in Tuesday's game. Ron Gardenhire says, "I talked to Delmon the other day about how we need him to get going...Because he can be a really good player for us if he gets rolling. That's all we're hoping for. He makes a big difference for our lineup if he gets swinging and drives in runs."

Our View: The 23-year-old is hitting only .244 this season after hitting .288 and .290 in his previous two seasons. His mother recently passed away, so he's obviously had a tough season off of the field. He's too good to hit this poorly over the course of the season, and there's a good chance that this current streak is a sign of things to come.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/21, 6:14 PM CT
Delmon Young has been activated from the bereavement list after mourning the death of his mother.

Our View: Young will rejoin the team on Sunday where his left field spot will be waiting for him. He was pulled off the list early because a player is only allowed to stay on the bereavement list for seven days.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 5/18, 6:30 PM CT
The AP reports that Delmon Young won't rejoin the Twins until Friday at the earliest. He originally left the team prior to Friday's game to be with his ill mother in Carolina.

Our View: We certainly hope Young's mother can get back to health. The Twins figure to have enough depth in their outfield to make it through until he is able to return.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 5/18, 1:03 PM CT
It is uncertain when Delmon Young will return from his leave of absence, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: The Twins want him to take all of the time he needs to be with his ailing mother in California. Young should remain held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 5/15, 10:16 AM CT
Delmon Young is taking an emergency leave of absence to deal with a family matter in California, according to MLB.com. The club recalled catcher Jose Morales from Triple-A to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View: The details regarding his family matter were not disclosed, but he is expected to be away for 3-7 days.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 4/12, 6:21 PM CT
Delmon Young went 1-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the White Sox.

Our View: Young has appeared as a starter in four of seven games for the Twins and has three RBI through 15 at bats. He will continue to split time going forward as he is hitting just .133 to start the season.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 4/6, 4:24 PM CT
Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup on Monday as the Twins go to battle against Felix Hernandez and the Mariners. Denard Span started in left, Carlos Gomez in center, and Michael Cuddyer started in right. Jason Kubel is batting fifth in the DH role.

Our View: The five outfielders will probably take turns as a reserve on many nights. Young has been nursing a sore shoulder, so that may have played a part in the opening day decision. He has plenty of tools and potential to be an everyday starter, but it appears he will share a lot of at bats in 2009.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 4/3, 10:26 AM CT
Delmon Young has been nursing a sore right shoulder but is set to return to the Twins' lineup today, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He is projected to bat cleanup today against the Pirates. Barring a setback, he should be good to go for opening day.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 3/9, 2:46 PM CT
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's 4-3 win over the Rays. He hit a single and a two-run homer, his first of spring training.

Our View: This was a strong outing in his bid to earn a starting job in the Twins' crowded outfield. Young would have potential to join the 20/20 club in his second season with Minnesota.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 2/28, 7:35 PM CT
Delmon Young had a big day for the Twins on Saturday, going 2-of-3 with a double, and RBI, and two runs.

Our View: Young has shown flashes of power in his career, but only hit 10 home runs last season. His stock will be on the rise if he can show some more during the spring.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 2/20, 1:39 PM CT
Delmon Young has been adjusting his swing, according to the Star Tribune. Hitting coach Joe Vavra noted that the adjustments look promising.

Our View: The 23-year-old is expected to improve this season, and has the potential to join the 20/20 club. He should be drafted among the top-50 fantasy outfielders.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 2/12, 6:02 PM CT
Delmon Young signed a one-year, $1.15 million dollar deal with the Twins, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Young was disappointing last season, dropping from 93 RBI in 2007 to just 69 in 2008. Young will have to battle a bit in spring training to secure a lot of playing time this season.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 2/9, 8:54 AM CT
The Twins have a crowded outfield with Delmon Young, Michael Cuddyer, Denard Span and Carlos Gomez fighting for three spots, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Gomez and Span should be safe bets to start, with Young and Cuddyer competing for the final spot. The Twins were reportedly discussing a trade with Seattle to move Young. He hit .290 but disappointed with only 10 homers in 2008.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 2/4, 9:42 AM CT
The Twins and Mariners reportedly discussed a trade last week that would send outfielder Delmon Young to Seattle with catcher Jeff Clement and pitcher Jarrod Washburn going to Minnesota, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: The Mariners want to trim payroll and covet an outfielder after losing Raul Ibanez to Philadelphia. Young only hit 10 homers last season, and his power numbers could continue to disappoint with a potential move to pitcher-friendly Safeco. Young would have a less solid supporting cast if he left Minnesota for Seattle as well.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 12/9, 11:17 AM CT
ESPN.com is reporting that the Rays are talking to the Twins about a deal that would bring outfielder Delmon Young back to the Rays. Tampa Bay likely would deal away either Andy Sonnanstine or Edwin Jackson. But the trade could also involve a third team, because the Twins aren't looking to add starting pitching.

Our View: The Giants, Rockies and Phillies have also expressed interest making it seem unlikely that Young returns to the Twins next season. The Twins would like to add an infielder in return for the enigmatic outfielder.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 12/8, 4:19 PM CT
The San Francisco Giants may be interested in Twins outfielder Delmon Young, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: Young has immense talent, but lacks power. Going to San Francisco likely wouldn't help that much.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 12/8, 1:39 PM CT
The Phillies have inquired about Twins' outfielder Delmon Young, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: There is belief the Twins would want prized prospect Jason Donald (shortstop) in return for Young. He would fill the Phillies' void in left field left by Pat Burrell.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 12/8, 9:43 AM CT
The Rockies covet a slugging outfielder after dealing Matt Holliday to Oakland, and the club could be interested in Delmon Young, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: The Twins could ask for Huston Street as part of a deal, who would provide a strong setup man for closer Joe Nathan. Pat Neshek is expected to miss the 2009 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Young failed to tap his power potential with Minnesota, but he may be able to break out while playing his home games at launching pad Coors Field.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 11/30, 1:25 PM CT
The Twins covet an infielder for the left side in exchange for Delmon Young, according to BaseballProspectus.com.

Our View: That would allow the club to free up an outfield spot for Denard Span in the starting lineup. Young hit .290 for Minnesota last season, but was a grave disappointment in the power department with only 10 homers.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 10/15, 12:43 PM CT
The Twins may talk to the Giants about trading Delmon Young, according to the Pioneer Press.

Our View: Young hit .290 this season, but failed to provide much power with only 10 homers. He only notched 69 RBI as well. This story is speculation by the Pioneer Press, but it would seem reasonable to trade Young as the Twins will have a deep and talented outfield for 2009.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 9/16, 7:47 AM CT
Delmon Young is having trouble with his sore right ankle, and it is possible he may need surgery after the season, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Young had three hits on Monday, so he can still swing the bat. Still, fantasy owners should be cognizant of the fact that he may see a day off in the upcoming weeks.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/5, 8:48 AM CT
Delmon Young returned to the Twins' lineup Thursday after missing Wednesday due to a sore right ankle, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He will be able to continue playing, but will have to favor his ankle for a while. That decreases his fantasy value as he has actually been more productive in the speed department (14 steals) than the power department (only eight homers) this season.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 9/4, 8:27 AM CT
Delmon Young was out of the Twins lineup on Wednesday because of a sore left ankle, though the injury is not considered serious, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Young could have probably played, and should be ready to go soon. He continues to put up solid but unspectacular numbers for fantasy owners, who would like to see his power develop a little more next year.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/19, 7:14 PM CT
Delmon Young is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals. He turned an ankle on Monday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune notes. Jason Kubel got the call in left field.

Our View: Young is day-to-day and could be back as soon as Wednesday night.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 8/13, 3:30 PM CT
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 and crushed a three-run homer in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Yankees at home. His other hit was a single.

Our View: Young is enjoying a power surge, as he homered in two straight games, and in three of his last five outings. Young could serve as a solid sleeper down the stretch in the power department.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/12, 11:52 PM CT
The Yankees may have stolen the win in extra innings, but Minnesota outfielder Delmon Young was doing what he could to stop the bleeding. Young went 3-for-5 at the plate with his 21st double and sixth homer of the season, posting three RBIs and three runs scored, as well as his 13th stolen base of the season.

Our View: Young was hitting just .172 for the month of August coming into this battle, but he now has two homers and five RBIs over his last four games. It may serve to get him back on track at the plate.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 8/10, 5:42 PM CT
One night after homering and getting two hits, Delmon Young went 0-for-5 in the Twins loss to Minnesota.

Our View: Young has 12 stolen bases and a decent batting average, but his lack of power and poor plate discipline make him an iffy fantasy outfielder. If he could just get to 15-20 homers per year, his value would up exponentially.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 8/9, 10:47 PM CT
The Twins traveled to Kansas City this evening and picked up a much-needed victory, taking the Royals 7-3. For Minnesota, the heavy lifting was done by outfielder Delmon Young, going 2-for-4 with his fifth homer of the season, totaling two RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: It's been a little bit of a slow start for Young in August, but he has the tools needed to improve. If he can get his power numbers up, he'll be fine.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/19, 9:46 PM CT
Delmon Young was 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs and two RBI Saturday. The dinger was just his fourth of the year.

Our View: Young has two homers this month, which we suppose could be considered a power surge for him. He is batting .350 since June 1, but his lack of pop this year has been discouraging.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/19, 12:11 PM CT
Delmon Young was 4-for-4 with an RBI in Friday nights game. His average is up to .294.

Our View: Young hit .321 in June and is now .373 in July. He appears to be coming around and could be on his way to living up to his potential.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/16, 10:15 PM CT
Delmon Young is hitting a solid .286 on the year, but the shocking lack of power, he has only 17 doubles and just three home runs, has marked him as one of the most disappointing hitters in the fantasy game.

Our View: Young has hit .321 since the start of June with all three of his home runs and 10 doubles over those 33 games, so he has been useful of late. However, he has stopped running with only one steal in that time, so he will need to keep up the swing to overcome the lack of stolen base success.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/9, 4:18 PM CT
Delmon Young went 3-for-5 with a run scored in the Twins 18-5 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon. The Twins right fielder is warming up, just as he predicted, raising his average (.293) above .290 for the first time this season.

Our View: Young's average continues to climb, but his power numbers downright stink. The five-tool talent has only three home runs in 324 at-bats since coming up from Florida.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/4, 10:10 PM CT
Delmon Young went 3-for-5 with four RBI in Friday's 12-3 bashing of the Indians. Most of his damage came on a three-run homer, his third of the season.

Our View: Young is hot as he has recorded three hits in back-to-back games, and has homered in two of his last five outings. He raised his average a few more points to .289.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/2, 6:24 PM CT
Minnesota Delmon Young Delmon Young was doing his part in today's 7-0 win over the Tigers, going 3-for-4 at the dish with two doubles on the day, finishing with one RBI and one runs scored.

Our View: Young hit .321 last month with two homers and 13 RBIs and hopes to keep the good vibes going with more performances like this.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/29, 5:59 PM CT
Delmon Young had only one hit on Sunday, but it was a two-run homer, just his second long ball of the year. It came off Brewers ace Ben Sheets.

Our View: Young is hitting .325 with both homers and seven doubles in June. Overall, we are still disappointed, but Delmon is starting to come out of his shell.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 6/7, 11:02 PM CT
Delmon Young took only 233 AB in 2008 to hit his first home run in the Twins 11-2 loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

Our View: Oh happy times. Young has only 10 doubles as well in a shocking display of how not to record extra base hits. For a man with this much talent, the lack of production has been simply staggering.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 6/2, 9:34 PM CT
Delmon Young continues to search for that elusive first homer, but he did go 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI on Monday. He was also caught stealing.

Our View: Young will need a lot more of these days to wash the disappointing taste out of our mouths.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 5/30, 3:24 PM CT
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, left fielder Delmon Young was given the day off on Thursday due to his current 1-for-23 skid. Young had played in 217 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors until Thursday.

Our View: Young's average has dropped from .286 to .258 in his last 23 at-bats.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/29, 5:15 PM CT
Delmon Young will not be in the starting lineup for the Twins on Thursday night putting his 217 consecutive games played streak in jeopardy, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Young certainly could use a day off as his production this season has been simply awful. Drafted for his power and speed combination, Young has come through with eight SB, but he has gone 198 AB without a home run and is batting a poor .258. The talent is still there, and Young makes an attractive buy low candidate, but it's clear that a breakout will not occur until at least 2009.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 5/28, 9:00 PM CT
Delmon Young was back in the lineup Wednesday despite a rough night Tuesday. Young went 0-for-6 at the plate and made a costly defensive mistake in the ninth that sent the game into extras. It is the outfielder's 217 consecutive game played. "Tonight is a night where Delmon needs to be back out there," manager Ron Gardenhire said on MLB.com. "He had a tough night last night, and you put confidence in him by putting him back out there. Let him get rid of that feeling. I don't want it staying around with him a couple of days. Get back out there and play."

Our View: Young is batting just .262 and has yet to homer this year, so perhaps it would be better if he sat out. The only saving grace for his fantasy owners thus far is he's managed to swipe eight bases.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/18, 5:41 PM CT
Delmon Young had two hits on Sunday and now has seven hits over his last three games to push his average to .287.

Our View: Young has been a terrible disappointment this season going 164 AB without a single home run, so unless he pushes that average up to .350, he better start jacking some long balls.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 5/17, 7:06 PM CT
Delmon Young, who was 3-for-4 on Friday night, added 13 points to his average. In 15 May games he has six multi-hit games.

Our View: Young raised his average from .260 to .276 and currently the Twins outfielder is all or nothing in games played.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 5/14, 9:28 AM CT
Delmon Young started on Tuesday night despite a sore left ankle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune notes. He twisted the joint on Monday. "I told him to be honest, go out there and if you can run that's fine. If you can play that's fine," manager Ron Gardenhire says, "but if you're going to be limping around out there I'll take you off the field." Young went 0-for-4.

Our View: The 22-year-old outfielder continues to struggle in his new digs. Delmon seems too good of a hitter to not turn it on at some point, but we have to wonder if AL pitchers generally have his number right now.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/1, 7:07 PM CT
Delmon Young is finally finding his comfort zone with the Twins, according to the AP. "We’re just trying not to put too much pressure on him where he feels like he has to hit 40 home runs," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Just play and play the game the right way. And he’s done that."

Our View: Young has already stolen six bases after swiping only 10 all of last year, which helps to make up for the slow start in the power categories this year (zero HR, eight RBI). Young still has tremendous upside in all facets of the game, but he is still a ways away from tapping into all of that talent on a regular basis.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 4/14, 9:52 PM CT
Delmon Young went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs, two RBI, and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Tigers.

Our View: We're still waiting for Delmon's first homer as a Twin, but maybe this strong outing will get him going.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 3/6, 10:16 AM CT
Delmon Young has been fitting in well with his new club, according to the Star Tribune. The staff is gaining confidence in him and think he is going to make an impact in 2008. Manager Ron Gardenhire has stated, "He is very excited to be here, and has done everything we have asked. He has a chance to keep working and be a really good ballplayer. He has a lot to learn, but he is growing as a hitter, getting better and better. He has a lot of talent".
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 3/5, 7:13 PM CT
Delmon Young hit a home run and went 2-for-3 for the Twins on Wednesday. “He’s very excited to be here. He’s done everything we’ve asked," manager Ron Gardenhire said in a report on the AP. "[He] said he’ll do whatever we need him to do, and that’s been the way he’s gone about everything.” Young certainly needs to grow as a ballplayer, especially with his plate discipline, but he still hit .288 with 93 RBI as a rookie last year and figures to build on those numbers moving forward.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 2/25, 1:31 PM CT
Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire has decided that Delmon Young will man left field this season, according to TwinCities.com. The report mentioned that Gardenhire met with Delmon Young on Sunday to tell him he has decided to leave Michael Cuddyer in right field and use him in left.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 11/29, 10:20 AM CT
The Twins completed their deal for Delmon Young Wednesday, sending Matt Garza, Eduardo Morlan and Jason Barlett to Tampa Bay for Young, Brendan Harris and Jason Pridie. Young is expected to start in left field and bat in the middle of the Twins' order. In 162 games in 2007, Young hit .288 with 13 homers, 93 RBI and 10 steals. He doesn't draw many walks (26), but the hope is that he'll develop into a consistent 30 HR threat.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 11/28, 2:28 PM CT
La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the Twins are closing to completing a deal for Delmon Young. The proposed deal, which could be completed sometime today, would be Young, Brendan Harris and Jason Pridie for Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and Juan Rincon. Stay tuned.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSunday 9/30, 1:57 PM CT
Delmon Young didn't start Sunday, but he is expected to pinch hit in the contest. It was thought that Young wouldn't play at all today after he reacted angrily to being removed from Saturday's game for not running out a grounder, according to the AP. "I want to see him get 162 games," manager Joe Maddon said. "That's been one of our goals all along. Now he's got the opportunity to do that."
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 9/29, 8:10 PM CT
Delmon Young probably won't play Sunday after he reacted angrily to being removed from Saturday's game for not running out a grounder to third in the top of the inning. "I'm not the only one doing it," Young said in the AP. "I play every day. I don't complain about going out there. I'll see you guys next year because I'm shut down tomorrow."
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsThursday 8/23, 5:01 AM CT
Delmon Young was out of the starting lineup for just the second time this season Wednesday, the AP reports. The rookie had gone hitless (0-for-13) in four straight starts for the first time this year. "I've just seen signs he's wearing down a little bit," manager Joe Maddon said. It's been a solid if unspectacular rookie year for Young, who's at .286 with nine homers and seven stolen bases. Keep in mind he doesn't turn 22 until the middle of September.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 5/4, 3:39 AM CT
Delmon Young was given a routine day off Thursday, the AP reports. He started the first 27 games of the year prior to this break.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 4/16, 10:22 PM CT
Delmon Young saw his 12-game hitting streak end on Monday, as he went hitless in four at-bats. His batting average thus far still stands at .321, though, and he has a total of 10 RBI and nine runs.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/29, 7:22 AM CT
The day off for Delmon Young Thursday was his first since joining the Devil Rays at the end of August, the Tampa Tribune reports. "I think he's gotten a little bit tired, I really do," manager Joe Maddon said. "And he got sick last weekend, and I think that bothered him a little bit, and he still played through not feeling well. I think he's still just off, just a click. That's what I'm seeing. So, giving him tonight off, that's part of it. The other part is to make sure he doesn't get too many at-bats. But I just think he needed a break." The Devil Rays didn't want Young to pass 130 at-bats, so he could retain his rookie status for next year.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/29, 9:22 PM CT
Delmon Young homered in his major league debut Tuesday night for the Devil Rays, two months after serving a 50-game suspension in the minors for throwing his bat at an umpire. He started in right field and batted eighth.
Delmon Young, LF, Minnesota TwinsMonday 8/28, 10:10 PM CT
As expected, the Devil Rays called up Delmon Young from Triple-A Durham on Monday, according to the AP. Young, who hit .318 with eight homers, 57 RBI and 22 RBI in 86 games at Triple-A, will join the team in Chicago for the start of a three-game series Tuesday night. It looks like the Devil Rays won't even wait until rosters expand to recall Delmon Young from Triple-A Durham, according to the St. Petersburg Times. They appear ready to call him up and insert him in the lineup for Tuesday. He'll replace the injured Jonny Gomes on their roster.

The Devil Rays have yet to decide whether or not they're going to promote Delmon Young to the big leagues once rosters expand in September, according to the Tampa Tribune. "I'd love to see him out there. There's no doubt he's going to be a very good major-league player. He's all of that," manager Joe Maddon said. "We just want to make sure, like we've said before, that everybody understands the right way of doing things and contributes to the group and wants to be part of the group. That's my biggest concern." Young is hitting .325 with eight homers, 54 RBI and 22 steals in 76 games with Triple-A Durham this year.
