Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/17, 7:04 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 16-14 slugfest against the Padres.

Our View: Callaspo is now hitting .448 this spring, and may have hit his way into the Royals opening day lineup. He'll likely start at third in place of the injured Alex Gordon, but has been much more effective in spring than second baseman Chris Getz, who was brought in to replace him.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 12/1, 10:30 PM CT
The A's have inquired about Royals' infielder Alberto Callaspo, but talks reportedly did not go well, according to FOX Sports.

Our View: The Athletics would have used Callaspo at third base with Mark Ellis staying at second. Discussions ended when the two sides could not agree on a player that would get shipped to Kansas City in exchange for Callaspo. The Royals feel they can move Callaspo after acquiring second baseman Chris Getz from Chicago.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 9/26, 11:03 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo doubled, homered, scored twice and drove in two for the Royals on Saturday in their 11-6 loss to the Twins.

Our View: Callaspo is tearing the cover off the ball this month. He's hitting .357 with three homers and 22 RBI. To put it in perspective, that's just three less RBI than Ryan Howard has in his monster September.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/22, 10:13 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in tonight's 5-1 win over the Red Sox at Kauffman Stadium. All three of his hits were singles.

Our View: Callaspo recorded multiple hits in six of his last 10 games, and raised his season batting average to .302.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/15, 10:10 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-4 with four RBI in tonight's 11-1 win at Detroit. He hit a double and a three-run homer off Jarrod Washburn.

Our View: Callaspo remains hot in September, as he is hitting .366 with two homers and 12 RBI over 41 at-bats. Tonight's homer was his 10th of 2009.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 9/4, 11:05 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-4 with an RBI in tonight's 2-1 loss to the Angels at Kauffman Stadium. He hit a single and a triple.

Our View: Callaspo continues to swing a hot stick, as he extended his hitting streak to six games, with one double and three triples over the span. He has six triples for 2009.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/2, 6:11 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in Wednesday's 10-4 loss at Oakland.

Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/1, 12:27 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo was productive in Monday's 8-5 loss at Oakland, as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI. He hit a single and a triple.

Our View: Callaspo has a hit in three straight games, and closed out August on a high note. He only hit .255 this month, after batting .316 in July.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/31, 10:01 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 1-for-4 with a single and two runs scored in tonight's 8-2 loss at Tampa Bay.

Our View: The Royals only had five hits in the game, and Callaspo was their only player to cross the plate. He extended his hitting streak to 13 games as well, and is worth employing in AL-only leagues while swinging a hot stick.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 7/19, 6:31 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo knocked three hits on Sunday in the Royals' 4-3 loss to the Rays. Callaspo went 3-for-5 with two RBI in the game.

Our View: Callaspo has his average up to .299 on the year, but he is not a big power threat hitting at the end of the Royals' order. He is a good on-base guy, and his 43 runs scored are a solid number for an AL-only second baseman.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/4, 5:13 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo paced the Royals to a 6-4 victory over the White Sox on the Fourth of July, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Our View: Callaspo is now hitting over .300 and has quietly drive in 31 runs for the season. There are certainly better options at second base in most formats, but Callaspo could serve as a decent fill-in.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 6/13, 12:06 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo led the Royals offensively in Friday's 4-1 win over Cincinnati at Kauffman Stadium, as he went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer off Matt Maloney.

Our View: Callaspo is enjoying a power surge as he hit a homer in two of his last three games. He is riding a six-game hitting streak as well, and he should remain employed in fantasy lineups while he is hot.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 6/10, 9:00 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo was a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and three singles as the Royals crushed the Indians 9-0 on Wednesday. He had four RBI and two runs scored in the win, but he was also caught stealing in his first attempt of the season.

Our View: Callaspo has a hit in each of his last four games, and a total of eight in that stretch. However, tonight marked his first RBI since May 16, a span of 20 games.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/16, 9:39 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo drove in both of the Royals' runs on Saturday in their loss to the Orioles. Callaspo was 2-for-4 in the game with a double.

Our View: Callaspo has hit the ball very well this season, and he is a doubles machine. He is a decent value second baseman in AL-only leagues and he could be worth a look in mixed leagues if he is still available.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/2, 11:08 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo went 3-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 10-7 win at Minnesota. He had two doubles and a single.

Our View: 11 of Callaspo's 29 hits this season have been doubles, and he raised his season average to .382. He is riding a four-game hitting streak, with seven hits over the span.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 4/25, 10:31 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo went deep on Friday night, his first home run in 445 ABs at the major league level. He is also hitting a robust .370 through 46 ABs on the year.

Our View: Is a Silver Slugger award in his future? Hardly, but Callaspo has been a great offensive bonus to club that has been without middle of the presence weapons Jose Guillen and Alex Gordon. Dating back to the start of last season Callaspo has hit .317, and that marks him as one valuable middle infield option in AL-only leagues.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 9/26, 6:42 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo returned to the lineup Friday night after missing Thursday's game with a thigh ailment, according to the KC Star.

Our View: He enters the game against Minnesota with a 16-game hitting streak.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/23, 6:18 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo was not in the Royals lineup on Thursday because he injured his thigh while sliding into home on Monday, according to Royals.com.

Our View: The injury is not serious, and Callaspo will return to the lineup for the team's final series of the year against the Twins.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/21, 4:13 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo had a pinch hit single on Sunday to extend his hitting streak to 15-games. David DeJesus also had a hit in the game to extend his streak to 12-games.

Our View: That's a whole lot of hitting for that duo. With this run of production, Calaspo has actually seen his average barely increase as he is hitting .314 in September and .313 overall. He makes a fine final week fill-in if you have a need in the middle infield.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 9/19, 10:33 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a double on Friday. David DeJesus drove him in later in the inning.

Our View: Callaspo is hitting .309 in 68 games this season. The middle infielder has little power but a good eye. He has drawn 17 walks to just 13 strikeouts.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/14, 3:39 PM CT
Callaspo went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, three runs scored and a steal for the Royals on Sunday.

Our View: He has had plenty off-the-field controversies in his past, but Callaspo definitely has baseball skills. He is now hitting above .300 and has an eight-game hit streak. He could help AL-only owners down the stretch.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/9, 3:06 PM CT
The Royals have been pleased with Alberto Callaspo and he is among the players getting an extended look in the final month of the season, according to the KC Star. Manager Trey Hillman said, "The thing I’ve seen that surprised me a little bit isn’t the contact ratio right-handed, but the authority of the contact right-handed. I mean the hard contact. He’s driven a couple of balls right-handed that we didn’t see in spring training, that we have not seen in evaluating his right-handed swing."

Our View: He could be the Royals' second baseman of the future, but the club is believed to be targeting a middle infielder in the off-season free agent market.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/24, 4:25 PM CT
Royals second baseman Alberto Callaspo went 3-for-3 and walked once, raising his batting average to .302 in the Royals 7-3 win over Detroit.

Our View: In over 100 at-bats, Callaspo has on home runs and just four RBI, so his fantasy value is not particularly high, but he may be of use in AL-only leagues should his average continue to stay around the .300 mark.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 8/23, 4:28 PM CT
The Royals activated Alberto Callaspo from the DL Saturday. He had been out with an unspecified medical reason after being cited for DUI.

Our View: Callaspo could get some significant time at second. He's worth an AL-only spot.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/18, 2:17 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo is slated to begin to rehab assignment after working himself into playing shape at Triple-A Omaha, according to the KC Star. Callaspo was placed on the DL June 28 for undisclosed medical reasons one day after being cited for a DUI.

Our View: He hit .290 over 100 at-bats with the Royals this season, and would be worth a look in deeper AL-only leagues when he gets activated.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 6/28, 4:32 PM CT
The Royals placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the disabled list, this according to the KC Star. It appears that after Callaspo was arrested for DUI last night and spent seven hours in lockup the team has asked him to undergo evaluation and treatment

Our View: The club filled the roster vacancy by recalling first baseman/DH Billy Butler from Class AAA Omaha.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 6/27, 3:42 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo was arrested for DUI last night and spent seven hours in prison, reports the Kansas City Star. He was stopped at about 3 A.M. and released around noon.

Our View: No word on if the Royals plan on disciplining Callaspo, who is hitting .290 with four RBI and eight runs scored in 100 at-bats. If he is on your fantasy roster for some reason, keep an eye out for any potential punishment coming his way.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 4/12, 3:33 PM CT
Alberto Callaspo will start at shortstop against the Twins tonight, according to the Star Tribune. He will bat leadoff as well.

Our View: The utility man has fared well in the early going as he is hitting 5-for-14, with two extra base hits, and one RBI. He is yet to strike out as well.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 4/7, 3:06 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo started at second base for the Royals on Sunday. He had two hits, including a double, in four at-bats. He is hitting .333 with one RBI after appearing in three games. The utilityman has no fantasy value outside of deep AL-only formats.

Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 12/14, 4:59 PM CT

"The addition of Alberto continues to increase the versatility on our team," Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore said. "He is a young, tremendously skilled player with a great eye at the plate and very solid defensive skills at three infield positions." Callaspo figures to be used in a utility role in KC.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 6/15, 11:46 AM CT
The D'Backs optioned Alberto Callaspo to Triple-A Tucson after Thursday's game. Augie Ojeda had his contract purchased from Tucson. Callaspo is hitting just .206 in 126 at-bats this season and hadn't been getting much playing time lately. "I just want to get some at-bats down there, get hot and come back here," Callaspo told the Arizona Republic.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/20, 6:19 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo rejoined the Diamondbacks yesterday. The club reinstated him from the suspended list, and he entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning, according to the Arizona Republic. Callaspo was arrested on May 10 after allegedly assaulting his wife after which time he was suspended by the Diamondbacks. The club considered sending him to the minors after activating him Saturday but took the advice of an independent counselor, who concluded that Callaspo was "fit for work" and recommended he undergo counseling, which Callaspo agreed to do. He was hitting just .211 before the incident and still has charges hanging over his head, so he's not exactly an enticing fantasy option going forward.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 5/18, 10:32 AM CT
The Maricopa County Attorney's office did not file formal charges against Alberto Callaspo in an alleged assault case. The case has been referred to the City of Phoenix prosecutor's office, which handles misdemeanors, so it would appear that Callaspo has avoided any felony charges, according to the Arizona Republic. Callaspo was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting his wife.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/13, 6:40 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo's agent said the players union will file a grievance on behalf of his client Monday over the Diamondbacks' decision to place Callaspo on the restricted list, a designation that costs Callaspo salary, according to the Arizona Republic. The move came after Callaspo was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife. "Under the collective bargaining agreement, it's clear it's not an appropriate action," agent Mark Gilling said. "The Diamondbacks, in making this decision, have forced him to have to file a grievance, because he is entitled to be paid." Gilling added that they can release Callaspo if they don't want him to play for them. Of course, the club could also option him to the minors. For now, you can keep Callaspo and his .215 batting average out of your lineup, too.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 5/11, 10:02 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo was arrested Thursday by Phoenix police on suspicion of assault on his wife and criminal damage, according to the Arizona Republic. The Diamondbacks took immediate action, prohibiting Callaspo from making the road trip, although no announcement was made on how the club will proceed. Callaspo could be optioned to Triple-A Tucson, suspended or put on the restricted list. "We do not feel that he should be with the team due to the allegations," D'Backs President Derrick Hall said. "We understand he has rights, and we respect those rights, but we obviously do not condone the behavior he has been accused of. We need this time to gather our facts and determine what exactly took place and what further action is needed, if any."
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 3/25, 7:11 AM CT
Alberto Callaspo saw his first action in the outfield this spring yesterday, as he increases his versatility, according to the Arizona Republic. The switch-hitter has a .438 batting average this spring and could get some starts in the outfield when the Diamondbacks are facing a right-handed starter.
Alberto Callaspo, 2B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/6, 6:10 PM CT
