Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsWednesday 6/17, 10:08 AM CT
Jeremy Reed worked out at first base yesterday according to the New York Daily News, but manager Jerry Manuel said it was still just for backup duty and that he isn't supplanting Daniel Murphy.

Our View: Reed is hitting .313 in 64 at-bats this season, and could be worth a flier in deeper leagues if he does get an extended look at first and produces. That's a lot of ifs, though, and he shouldn't be considered for an add at this time.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsMonday 5/11, 3:24 PM CT
Jeremy Reed is slated to start in right field for the Mets in Monday's game against the Braves at Citi Field, according to Newsday.

Our View: Ryan Church will ride the pine. Reed is a career .258 hitter in the majors, and offers little speed and power. He does not merit fantasy consideration.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsTuesday 5/5, 3:32 PM CT
Jeremy Reed and Daniel Murphy took grounders at first base before Tuesday's game, according to Newsday.

Our View: Reed would likely play first only in a pinch, probably only gaining eligibility there in leagues that require just one game.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsSunday 3/22, 7:10 PM CT
Jeremy Reed was 4-for5 with two doubles, four RBI, and two runs scored as the Mets defeated the Braves 12-1 on Sunday. Reed is now hitting .426 this spring.

Our View: The Mets have a lot of depth in the outfield, but Reed's star has shined brightest this spring. He adds more value to the team as a solid defensive player, and if he could consistently do damage at the dish, he would be an every day player. However, with Ryan Church, Fernando Tatis, and Daniel Murphy all looking for at-bats too, Reed won't likely get the chance to play every game.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 5:53 PM CT
Jeremy Reed was 2-for-3 with a walk, and a strikeout in the Mets 6-2 loss to the Nationals on Saturday. He played all nine innings in center field.

Our View: Reed would like to land the everyday job, but nothing is guaranteed at this point. The Mets have good depth in the outfield, and it is more likely that Reed splits time in center this season. Should he land the everyday job, he holds the potential to still have a break through year at the age of 28.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsWednesday 12/10, 10:50 PM CT
Center fielder Jeremy Reed was dealt along with J.J. Putz from the Mariners to the Mets on Wednesday as part of a 12-player transaction, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Reed will be a part of the outfield rotation next season in New York. He will likely have a similar fourth outfielder-type role similar to that of Endy Chavez from last year. Chavez was dealt the other way in this trade.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsSunday 6/15, 10:09 AM CT
Jeremy Reed fielded balls at first base Saturday afternoon before batting practice, something manager John McLaren told the Seattle Times was in anticipation of playing in National League parks when the Mariners won't have a designated hitter.

Our View: The team will play at Atlanta starting June 20 and the staff wants to keep their options open in preperation for batting the pitcher and going without a designated hitter. It doesn't mean that Reed will see action at first base.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsTuesday 6/10, 8:28 PM CT
Jeremy Reed socked a solo homer on Tuesday night, but his teammates didn't help him out. The Mariners lost 3-1 to the Blue Jays.

Our View: Reed is one heckuva Triple-A hitter, but he's never been able to get it done in the majors. This solo shot was just his second extra-base hit over 46 at-bats this year.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsTuesday 5/20, 6:46 PM CT
When the Mariners begin a three-game series on Tuesday against the Tigers, Jeremy Reed will be with the team. Reed, who has been honing his skills at Triple-A Tacoma, was batting .349 before being called up today, this according to the team website.

Our View: Reed was a mainstay in center field in 2005, playing in 141 games and batting .254 with 45 RBIs. Reed was the regular center fielder in 2006 as well -- until July 2 when he broke his right thumb. Reed underwent surgery four days later and missed the remainder of the season. By the time he came back, the Mariners had moved Ichiro Suzuki from right field to center field and signed right-handed-hitting Jose Guillen to play right field.
Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsWednesday 5/7, 2:11 AM CT
Jeremy Reed went 3-for-5 with his fifth home run and sixth steal of the season for Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Our View: Reed is one of the biggest busts of the last five years among prospects, but we can’t give up on him yet. He is still only 26-years-old and hitting .375 for Tacoma. He is sure to get his chance as a backup with Seattle soon and has AL-only upside.

The Mariners optioned Jeremy Reed to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Reed never got back in the mix after breaking his thumb while playing defense in July.

Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsTuesday 8/29, 9:02 AM CT
It now appears unlikely that Jeremy Reed, who is out with a broken right thumb, will be able to begin a rehab assignment this week, according to the Seattle Times. "As of today, he's not quite ready," trainer Rick Griffin said. "We don't want him to be 75 percent or 80 percent. We want him to be 95 or 100 percent."

Jeremy Reed, LF, New York MetsWednesday 7/5, 9:10 PM CT
Jeremy Reed will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair his broken right thumb and will be out for eight weeks, according to the AP.
