Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 11/16, 4:48 PM CT
The Mariners are reportedly interested in star outfielder Curtis Granderson, according to FOX Sports.

Our View: The Mariners are among the teams looking to add payroll, and would prefer to use Granderson in left with Franklin Gutierrez in center. This should be viewed as speculation for now.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 11/14, 10:51 AM CT
According to a report at the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are very interested in offering a prospect-heavy package to the Tigers for outfielder Curtis Granderson. The Angels and Yankees are also said to be interested in the outfielder.

Our View: A prospect-heavy package is exactly what the Tigers will want in return for Granderson, as they are in cost-cutting mode in a major way right now. A move to the National League might jump-start Grnderson, but the Cubs would be wise not to give up too much for a guy who is miserable against left-handed pitching.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 11/13, 9:43 AM CT
Newsday is reporting that the Tigers and Angels are discussing a possible Curtis Granderson deal.

Our View: The Halos would reportedly play Granderson in left field, leave Torii Hunter in center and either deal or DH Juan Rivera. The potential trade does not sound close to completion, however, and many other teams, including the Yankees, are said to be interested in the Tigers' power-hitting speedster.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 11/11, 2:04 PM CT
The New York Post is reporting that the Detroit Tigers have made center fielder Curtis Granderson available in a trade. The Tigers don't want to trade Granderson, but for the right price they would be willing to make a deal.

Our View: The Tigers are hurting for money, and they have nearly $100 million tied up in just 10 players for next season. The Yankees are said the be very interested, and they have the prospects to get a deal done. We will keep an eye on this situation.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/29, 9:16 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 with a single and a solo homer off Matt Guerrier in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Twins in the nightcap of their doubleheader.

Our View: Granderson homered in three straight games, and has 30 for 2009. He also collected 20 stolen bases, and has been a key reason why the Tigers sit atop the AL Central standings.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/29, 2:12 PM CT
Curtis Granderson homered to lead off the bottom of the tenth inning in a 3-1 game on Tuesday, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get, as they lost the first game of their double-header with Minnesota 3-2.

Our View: The home run extended Granderson's 2009 career-high total to 29. His .251 average, however, is a career-low for a full season.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 9/27, 3:59 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-4 with his 28th home run on Sunday, but couldn't stop the Tigers from starting a new losing streak, as they fell 8-4 to the White Sox.

Our View: Granderson's six hits the past two days have risen his average from an ugly .244 to a slightly less ugly .247. After he hit .280 last season, it's clear that his .302 average from 2007 was a fluke.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 9/26, 9:20 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-6, scored two runs and drove in three more in the Tigers explosive 12-5 win over the White Sox on Saturday.

Our View: Granderson tripled in Saturday's game, his eight of the season, and is now just two away from reaching double digits in doubles, triples and homers for the third consecutive year.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 9/18, 11:06 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 with a single and a double in Friday's 3-0 loss at Minnesota.

Our View: The Tigers only recorded five hits in the game. Granderson has two hits in two of his last three games, but holds a dismal .203 batting average in September.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 9/12, 11:51 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Tigers' coach Jim Leyland plans to play Curtis Granderson despite his recent struggles. Granderson is likely to be in the lineup nearly every day for the rest of the season.

Our View: Leyland makes the point the Granderson is too talented to sit on the bench, and nobody would deny his talent. He has to heat up eventually, and he can carry a fantasy squad when he does. For now, it would be wise to start another outfielder while Granderson's struggles persist.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 8/20, 12:24 PM CT
According to the Detroit News, Tigers manager Jim Leyland is sitting slumping outfielder Curtis Granderson for the next two games.

Our View: Granderson will be replaced in the field by Clete Thomas and Placido Polanco will hit leadoff for the Tigers. The team is hoping that a couple of days off will kick start the struggling outfielder and drive him out of his funk. He is hitting just .221 in August. Be sure to adjust your lineups.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 8/11, 10:53 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer off closer Jon Papelbon in Tuesday's 7-5 loss at Boston.

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 7/27, 10:15 PM CT
Curtis Granderson hit his 20th home run of the season on Monday and finished 3-for-4.

Our View: While the batting average has been less than ideal, Granderson continues to provide excellent fantasy value with his fine combination of power and speed. With 20 home runs and 17 steals, he has a shot to go 30-30 by the end of the year.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 7/23, 4:32 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-3 with a triple, and recorded the Tigers' lone RBI in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Seattle at Comerica Park.

Our View: Detroit only mustered three hits in the game, and stranded 10 runners on base. Granderson has a four-game hitting streak, with two triples over the span.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 7/18, 1:08 AM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI in the Tigers' 5-3 loss to the Yankees. Granderson is now hitting .257 on the year.

Our View: Granderson has 19 homers on the season, and although his average it a bit low he is still a very good option. He is driving in runs and stealing bases, so he still has solid value.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 7/10, 11:37 AM CT
Curtis Granderson is out of the Tigers lineup this Friday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: It is simply a "rest" game, and he should be ready to go for the Tigers against the Indians in their final two games before the All-Star break this weekend.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 6/28, 5:48 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, a run scored, and an RBI in the Tigers' 4-3 win over the Astros. Granderson is now hitting .263 on the year.

Our View: Granderson's average is still a bit low, but his 18 home runs and 13 stolen bases are more than serviceable in fantasy circles. He is a very good play, just as he has been for the last several seasons.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/17, 10:10 PM CT
Curtis Granderson was 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, a walk, two RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored as the Tigers fell 4-3 in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Our View: Granderson was hitless in his last three games, so it's good to see some life in his bat. His 16 home runs places him sixth in the American League. Both of his homers came in the leadoff spot tonight.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 6/13, 5:57 PM CT
Curtis Granderson is out of Saturday's lineup at Pittsburgh, according to MLive.com.

Our View: He is not injured and skipper Jim Leyland just wants to give him a breather. He could enter the game for late-inning defense if needed. Ryan Rayburn will roam center field in his place.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 6/11, 7:09 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 4-3 loss at Chicago. His other hits were a single and a double.

Our View: His two-run blast tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the ninth inning, but reliever Joel Zumaya blew the game by giving up a game-winning RBI single to Scott Podsednik in the bottom of the frame. Granderson remains a strong source for power, as he now has 14 homers.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/3, 9:36 PM CT
Curtis Granderson was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to Boston.

Our View: Granderson's drop to No. 5 in the order may be a permanent one. He is hitting 13-for-39 (.394) in that spot this season. He was hitting just .249 as the leadoff hitter. He has 11 hits in his last six games. The move figures to boost his fantasy value as he will have a lot more RBI opportunities.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/31, 3:49 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer on Sunday in the Tigers' 3-0 win over Baltimore. Granderson hit in the clean-up spot for Detroit today.

Our View: There wasn't much offense in this game, but Granderson did provide a homer for the second straight day. He is hitting in the middle of the order, and his fantasy numbers could improve if he keeps hitting for power like this.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 5/30, 9:21 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Saturday's 6-3 win at Baltimore. His other knock was a single.

Our View: Granderson snapped an eight-game drought without a homer, and now has 12 for the season. Six of his homers were hit away from Comerica Park.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 5/28, 4:35 PM CT
For the second game in a row, Curtis Granderson will be hitting fifth in the order, according to the Detroit News. This will be the fifth time Granderson has hit fifth this season.

Our View: Granderson has experience hitting fifth, and he should get plenty of RBI opportunities hitting in the middle of the order. Don't expect a huge change in fantasy numbers, but the RBIs may increase if he starts to hit fifth on a regular basis.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/26, 10:42 AM CT
Hitting coach Lloyd McClendon noticed something in Curtis Granderson's swing and he wants him to put in extra work prior to Tuesday's game, according to MLive.com. Granderson said, "Something is just not clicking from the time I get ready to go and actually make contact. Right now I just happen to be in one of those spells and who knows where I am going to finish up. But I know there is still a lot positive the rest of this season."

Our View: Granderson is only hitting .250 with a .332 OBP, but fantasy owners should not mind as he generated 11 homers and 27 RBI over 43 games.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 5/25, 4:45 PM CT
Curtis Granderson goes 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, two runs scored, and an RBI as the Tigers defeated the Royals 11-1 on Monday.

Our View: Granderson had just one hit in his last 19 at bats, all coming in Detroit. On the season, he is hitting .302 on the road and only .200 at home. Five of his six stolen bases have also come away from Detroit.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 5/21, 3:06 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer off Kevin Millwood in Thursday's 4-3 win over Texas at Comerica Park.

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/17, 3:25 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 11-7 win against the A's at home. He was walked three times, but did not attempt to steal a base.

Our View: Granderson collected his 10th homer of the season, with four coming at hitter-friendly Comerica Park. He is on pace to reach a new season-high in homers, which stands at 23 (2007).
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/5, 6:23 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Curtis Granderson will be hitting fifth in the order on Tuesday. He will hit behind Miguel Cabrera.

Our View: The Tigers are putting together a bit of a make-shift lineup tonight after they made several roster moves today. Granderson could provide more RBI from the five hole, so this move could be beneficial for fantasy owners.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 5/2, 6:20 PM CT

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/29, 9:21 PM CT
Curtis Granderson hit a three-run home run off of Mariano Rivera in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Yankees. It was his only hit in four at bats and he also drew a walk in the game.

Our View: Granderson has already pumped out seven home runs this season and remains in the leadoff spot. Rivera did not seem to have his best stuff in his brief appearance, and Granderson was able to take advantage. However, the center fielder is hitting just .241 on the season.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/25, 8:58 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk as the Tigers beat the Royals 9-1 on Saturday.

Our View: Granderson is riding a power surge right now that has seen him blast five home runs in his last five games. For now, he remains the Tigers leadoff hitter, but if Josh Anderson can pick up his offense, he could take over the leadoff spot and Granderson may be dropped down into a more favorable RBI spot.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/22, 1:09 AM CT
Curtis Granderson was 2-for-4 with two solo home runs as the Tigers fell to the Angels 4-3 on Tuesday.

Our View: Granderson has hits in his last five games, but it has not done much for his struggling batting average. He went 1-for-5 in three of those games. He has four home runs through 56 at bats.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 4/9, 2:31 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-5 in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. He hit a single and a homer.

Our View: Granderson hit two homers over four games with Toronto, despite playing at a pitcher-friendly park. This is encouraging regarding his power potential for 2009.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 4/6, 11:35 PM CT
Curtis Granderson was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk as the Tigers fell 12-5 to the Blue Jays on Monday.

Our View: Granderson provides a lot of pop for a lead off hitter. Last season, he slugged .494 in what many considered a down year. With the Tigers addition of Josh Anderson, they finally have another option to hit at the top of the order. Should Granderson drop in the order, he probably would get a boost in fantasy value.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 4/5, 9:00 AM CT
Manager Jim Leyland said that Curtis Granderson, who will typically serve as Detroit's leadoff hitter, could be moved into the middle of the Tigers' lineup on days when Carlos Guillen doesn't play, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View: Most of Detroit's big hitters are right-handed, so Leyland said that Granderson could be moved lower down to ensure a left-handed bat is still present in the middle of the order when Guillen doesn't start, which could be roughly one game per week. Such a move shouldn't effect Granderson's fantasy value much, as it might serve for a slight decrease in his runs but also result in a slight boost to his RBI totals.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/1, 3:25 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 and raised his spring average to .344 in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the Braves. The center fielder hit his third home run of the spring while collecting two RBI and another run scored.

Our View: Granderson seems poised for another strong season in Detroit. He was held to 141 games a season ago due to a broken bone suffered at the end of spring training. Hopefully he can avoid such an injury, as well as some untimely slumps, in 2009.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 3/31, 5:31 PM CT
Curtis Granderson was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals.

Our View: Granderson is an exciting fantasy player due to his contribution in every statistical category. His numbers suffered a bit last year due to an injury early in the year, but he looks healthy and ready to contribute this season. Expect lots and lots of runs scored in that loaded Tigers lineup.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 3/29, 3:48 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Braves. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: Granderson is hitting .320 in spring training, and should come through as a top-5 fantasy outfielder for 2009.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 3/26, 8:17 PM CT
Curtis Granderson was 2-for-4 with a home run and four runs scored in Thursday's 6-3 win.

Our View: Granderson should once again be a complete fantasy player and looks to be injury free this season. He is a quality outfield option as he can help in every offensive category.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 3/1, 7:51 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 2-for-3 on Sunday with a solo home run, a walk, and two runs.

Our View: Granderson had 40 more strikeouts than walks last year. If he could get these numbers closer together, he would be even more dangerous than he already is.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 2/28, 5:43 PM CT
Curtis Granderson didn't have any official at-bats on Saturday, but he did have an impact. He collected three walks and scored a pair of runs in a 7-2 win over the Mets.

Our View: Granderson's combination of speed and power will make him a great asset in 2009 if he can stay healthy.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 2/14, 12:53 PM CT
Curtis Granderson only swiped 12 bases in 2008, and manager Jim Leyland is going to talk to him about being more aggressive this season, according to the Detroit News. Leyland said, "Some of that is my fault, not ordering the steal. But I think he is probably a little too tense. He needs to be a bit more relaxed over there."

Our View: Granderson ranks as a top-5 fantasy outfielder for 2009, and it would not be that surprising to see him join the 30/30 club if he stays healthy.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 1/8, 1:23 PM CT
Curtis Granderson will represent the United States in the World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com. He accepted his invitation to the tournament today.

Our View: Fellow Tigers Carlos Guillen plans to represent Team Venezuela, along with Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera. Placido Polanco may play for the Dominican Republic as well.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 9/28, 5:31 PM CT
Curtis Granderson hit his 22nd home run and picked up four RBI in the Tigers' 8-7 loss to the Rays on Sunday.

Our View: He also struck out twice and walked twice giving him 110 whiffs on the season to go with 70 free passes. This is good news for Granderson who had 315 strikeouts over the previous two seasons and just 52 walks in 612 at bats last season. He had 10 steals were 16 less than last season. He also hit 10 less triples in 2008 than he had in 2007.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 9/25, 3:06 PM CT
Curtis Granderson did not start the game against Rays lefty Scott Kazmir, but he got into the lineup in the sixth inning and batted twice, hitting his 21st home run of the year in Detroit's 7-5 win over Tampa.

Our View: Granderson has had an inconsistent season. He started off slowly, only to get hot in the middle of the year before regressing to a .213 September batting average.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 9/20, 10:12 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 6-3 loss to Cleveland.

Our View: He reached at least 20 homers and 100 runs scored for the second straight season, and has scored a run in four straight games.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 9/6, 6:23 PM CT
Curtis Granderson hit a two-run home run in the eighth to tie up the game with the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers went on to win 6-4. He also added his 23rd double of the year.

Our View: The Tigers leadoff hitter is third on the team in home runs with 18 behind Miguel Cabrera and Marcus Thames. He has a .318 avg and a .983 OPS since the All-Star break.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 9/4, 10:55 AM CT
Curtis Granderson hits with enough authority that he may be moved down in the order - but not this sesaon, according to the Detroit Free-Press. "We don't have that guy (to hit leadoff), and it's exciting when he leads off with doubles and triples. It's still good for us when he leads off. But he's matured enough to where he can knock in runs," said Tigers manager Jim Leyland.

Our View: Granderson has 22 doubles, 13 triples, 16 home runs and 10 stolen bases this season, all while hitting .306 and driving in 53 runs. His RBI total would increase dramatically hitting behind a guy like Miguel Cabrera, so fantasy owners will have no qualms should the Tigers decide to make this move at some point down the road.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 8/30, 10:37 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Royals at Comerica Park. He just missed the cycle, as he hit a single, double, and a triple.

Our View: Granderson has recorded three hits in two of his last three games. He has five RBI over those three games as well, and looks to be headed for a solid final month of the regular season.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 8/29, 9:25 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 1-for-2 with a two-run triple in Friday's 6-3 win over the Royals in Detroit.

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 8/27, 9:56 PM CT
The Indians and Tigers waged war on the field this evening, but the fans in Detroit left disappointed with a 9-7 loss despite the efforts of outfielder Curtis Granderson. Granderson went 3-for-4 in the leadoff spot, getting one walk and his 16th homer of the season to post two RBIs and three runs scored on the night.

Our View: Granderson has started to pick up the power hitting, now touting five homers for 13 RBIs and 21 runs scored for the month of August.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 8/18, 10:59 PM CT
Curtis Granderson drove in a run with a triple in the seventh and three more with another triple in the eight Monday night. The four RBI give him 48 on the year.

Our View: Granderson's stolen bases have been down this year, but his owners have to be happy with the rest of his production.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 8/1, 8:18 AM CT
Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson had a terrific series against the Cleveland Indians, going 10-for-18 in the four game set, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: Granderson is again providing fantasy owners with a good season. He is hitting .309 with 11 home runs and 37 RBI, along with seven stolen bases.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 7/26, 7:05 PM CT
Curtis Granderson will remain the leadoff hitter against both righties and lefties, according to the Detroit News. "I'm going to etch that in stone. I've thought about it some more. He's our catalyst. He creates stuff for us, plus he's better against lefties now than he was," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said.

Our View: Granderson is actually hitting better (.306) against lefties this season than he is against right-handed pitchers (.291). Fantasy owners would like him to get closer to the 26 stolen bases he had a year ago, but otherwise he remains a good play.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/8, 9:02 PM CT
Curtis Granderson led off again on Tuesday, despite a southpaw on the mound. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI.

Our View: Granderson's average is up to .300, more than 60 points higher than it was a month ago. Granderson was awesome in the second half of last season and he may still meet the high expectations that were on him prior to the season.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/2, 12:41 PM CT
Curtis Granderson has been heating up over the last couple weeks, he raised his BA over 40 points in the month of June, while also tallying 22 runs and four stolen bases.

Our View: Grandrson is the catalyst of the Tigers, one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. Look for him to remain hot as Detroit is finally starting to perform at the level everyone thought they could. Until he slows down, Granderson is a must start in all formats.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 6/27, 9:03 PM CT

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/25, 10:26 AM CT
Curtis Granderson is riding a 12-game hitting streak. In that time he has raised his batting average from .240 to .265.

Our View: Granderson had a dismal May in which he hit just .226 while accumulating 25 strikeouts in 106 at bats. He is hitting .284 with just nine whiffs so far in June. Much of that can probably be attributed to his reduced role against lefties.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 6/21, 1:16 AM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-4 with a home run from the leadoff spot for the Tigers on Friday night.

Our View: Granderson also stole a base on the night, his fourth, though he was caught stealing for the third time, this after being nabbed just once in 27 attempts last season.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/18, 2:39 PM CT
Curtis Granderson will hit in the eighth spot again on Wednesday. It's his second straight day near the bottom of the order, and it's also the second straight day that the Tigers are facing a left-handed pitcher. The outfielder is a career .204 hitter against southpaws.

Our View: Jim Leyland previously noted that he's committed to using Granderson against lefties, and it looks like this revised lineup with Curtis near the bottom is the solution. Hey, at least he's playing.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersFriday 5/30, 11:53 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over Seattle. One of his hits went for a double.

Our View: That was his eighth multi-hit game in May, and his second straight.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 5/28, 10:02 PM CT
Curtis Granderson has often sat out when the opposing team has a lefty on the mound. That's not going to be the case anymore. Manager Jim Leyland has decided that Granderson will be an everyday player going forward. "He's a catalyst for us," Leyland said. "We've got to get him going. That's important."

Our View: Granderson has a career .202 average against southpaws, so he'll definitely have to pick it up if this is going to end up looking like a smart decision by Leyland.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 5/26, 2:21 PM CT
Curtis Granderson is hitting well again, according to MLB.com. He is hitting .333 (9-for-27) over his last eight games, after batting .097 over his previous eight.

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/25, 12:11 PM CT
Curtis Granderson is riding the pine today, according to the Star Tribune. Ryan Raburn started in center field and is batting leadoff.

Our View: Granderson is only hitting .207 in May, with only eight runs scored and one double. Hopefully he will benefit from the day off to get back on track.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 5/19, 6:33 PM CT
Curtis Granderson started this season well after getting healthy and back out on the diamond, but things have turned south of late, according to MLB.com. Granderson is just 5-for-37 with 14 K and no extra base hits of late.

Our View: Granderson will certainly snap out of his slump, and given that he missed as much time as he did at the start of the year, it's really not surprising to see him struggle a bit to find his groove. Continue to be patient.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersMonday 5/19, 8:06 AM CT

Curtis Granderson, who went 0-for-4 on Thursday night and is now 0-for-10 in his last two games, is on the bench for Friday's game against New York. Ryan Raburn, who opened the season with the Tigers, is starting in center field.

Our View: Granderson has never faced Yankee starter, Kei Igawa, so his absence from the lineup isn't a matchup issue.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 5/8, 9:21 PM CT
Curtis Granderson went 0-for-4 on Thursday night and is now 0-for-10 in his last two games.

Our View: Don't be too alarmed as all hitters struggle from time to time. Granderson already has five home runs, three doubles and a triple on the year, so about the only thing he hasn't done yet is run (he is one for two on steal attempts).
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/4, 4:59 PM CT
Curtis Granderson flexed his muscles again on Sunday. He swatted a leadoff homer against the Twins. He later added a single and swiped his first bag of the year.

Our View: We're used to seeing Granderson do a bit of everything, and it's nice to see a line like Sunday's. He's a stud.

As expected, the Tigers have activated Curtis Granderson from the DL, according to The Detroit News. Granderson has missed the first three weeks of the season while rehabbing a broken bone in his hand. To make room on the roster, the team optioned outfielder Clete Thomas to Triple-A Toledo.

Our View: Granderson will likely be rusty in his first game back, but it shouldn't take long before he rewards fantasy owners for their patience who drafted him, however.

Curtis Granderson feels relatively fine at the plate and he's batting .385 in three games since retreating to the farm system for a brief stint of rehab, this according to the Detroit News. Granderson is expected to rejoin his teammate this week, for his first big league game of the season. And it would not be surprising to see him back in a Tigers uniform as early as Wednesday's game against Texas at Comerica Park.

Our View: Granderson does not have his game legs but will be thrust into the leadoff role upon his return and asked to get in shape, on the job.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/19, 6:12 PM CT

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersThursday 4/17, 9:16 AM CT
Curtis Granderson could be back in the Tigers' starting lineup as early as next week, according to the Detroit News. Granderson notably had a second successful day of batting practice before Wednesday's Tigers-Indians game. He could leave as early as this weekend for a rehab stint in the minor leagues. Manager Jim Leyland commented, "Tentatively, possibly, he could be playing this weekend. I don't think it will be long. I think he'll be playing with the Tigers very shortly."

Our View: This is great news, and the fantasy owners who drafted him should be rewarded for their patience soon.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/16, 7:26 PM CT
Curtis Granderson, who had a solid BP session on Wednesday, will be sent out to the minors for a rehab assignment this weekend if he has another BP session without incident on Thursday, in the hope that he will be ready to return to the Tigers sometime next week, this according to MLB.com.

Our View: Granderson is close to a return, and when he does make it back to the field look for the playing time of Clete Thomas to vanish and the AB of Brandon Inge to diminish substantially.
Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/16, 9:45 AM CT
Curtis Granderson had a favorable first session of batting practice on Tuesday, according to the Detroit News. Granderson commented, "Pretty much free of pain, just a little bit here and there. It felt all right, but everything looked kind of funny, being outside for the first time with the cage around me and hitting coach Lloyd McClendon behind me yelling at me about this, that and the other. But it was definitely positive. Hopefully, I'll continue to move forward. There were a few timing issues with my swing though. I could probably play right now, but it's a combination of the pain/ready issue. There's no way I'd be able to jump in there right now. I'd be overmatched." Manager Jim Leyland added, "We're happy with the progress he's making, but we're not going to rush it."

Our View: This is good news for Granderson, but the team will need to find a way to keep the hot hitting Brandon Inge in action when he returns.

Curtis Granderson is swinging and throwing for the first time since injuring his hand, according to the Detroit News. Granderson was satisfied Tuesday with his first session of baseball activity since he went on the DL, but called his progress "baby steps". Prior to the the Tigers' game against Boston, Granderson gripped a bat for the first time in more than two weeks, also swung for the first time, though not against live pitching. He commented that his hand felt better toward the end of the session. He added, "Swinging-wise, I was still kind of babying it. Throwing with my hand taped felt better than without. Swinging and actually hitting a ball off a tee felt better than dry swings. I'm happy with today. Hopefully it won't swell up and will feel better again Wednesday." This is positive news but he remains about 10-14 days away from returning.

Curtis Granderson is going to get an X-ray on his broken hand on Saturday, according to Detroit News. Granderson said when referring to the X-ray, "I'm excited and nervous about it. I don't want to go in there and find out it's worse. I'm not 100 percent excited about it, because I'm being cautious in my thoughts. I know a normal break is 4-6 weeks and I'm coming up on the 2-week mark. It's kind of hard to look at it and say I could be ready to go in two weeks. But you never know." The team will soon be able to determine an exact date for his return.

Curtis Granderson, CF, Detroit TigersSaturday 3/22, 4:56 PM CT
Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson planned on having precautionary X-rays on his right hand after being hit by a pitch Saturday afternoon, but he is expected to be fine, according to MLB.com. Granderson was leading off the fourth inning when a fastball from Phillies left-hander Travis Blackley ran in on Granderson and hit him near the base of his hand. Athletic trainer Steve Carter attended to Granderson, who stayed in the game at first base for the next batter before heavy rains halted the game. If the x-ray shows nothing of significance, there is no reason to believe Granderson won't be on the field in quick order. We'll update his situation if there is reason for concern.

"Lefties are hitting .151 off this guy and Granderson is in a great groove," manager Jim Leyland told the Detroit News.
