Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 2/28, 10:26 PM CT
Pat Neshek looked good while throwing batting practice Sunday, according to the Star Tribune. He threw hard and featured all of his pitches, including his change-up.

Our View: This is encouraging, as Neshek has not pitched in the bigs since May 2008 due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He could be a key contributor to Minnesota's pen this season if he can regain his solid velocity and movement on his pitches.

According to Kelly Thesier on Twitter, the Twins avoided arbitration with reliever Pat Neshek on Tuesday, agreeing to a one-year contract worth $625,000.

Our View: Neshek can earn an extra $75,000 in performance incentives. He missed all of last season and threw just 13.1 innings in 2008 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but the Twins are banking on him recovering and posting glossy numbers like the ones he put up in 2006-2007.

Pat Neshek, who is out for the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, is going to begin some light throwing in March, according to the Star Tribune. That will mark the start of a nine month rehab process.

Our View: Neshek only appeared in 15 games last season, but made an impact with 15 strikeouts over 13.1 innings, while maintaining a 1.20 WHIP.

Pat Neshek will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Neshek tore the ligament earlier this month while throwing at the Twins’ headquarters in Fort Myers. Fla., and is expected to miss the entire 2009 season.

Pat Neshek will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire 2009 season, according to sethspeaks.net. The surgery will likely take place next week.

Our View: Neshek partially tore a ligament in May and missed the rest of the season. That part of the ligament is fine now, however, he apparently tore the other side of the ligament off the bone. He'll be ready for spring training in 2010.

The Star-Tribune reports that Twins reliever Pat Neshek will undergo an MRI exam on his right elbow Tuesday after experiencing discomfort during his throwing program last week. He injured the elbow May 9 in Chicago and missed the rest of the season. Neshek began his throwing program in September and had hoped to be back to 100 percent by spring training.

Our View: Neshek is 11-5 with a 2.91 ERA in 121 career appearances with the Twins and has held opposing hitters to a .188 batting average. He is a nice reliever when healthy. We will keep you updated on his status.

The Star Tribune reports that reliever Pat Neshek, who missed most of the season rehabbing a torn ligament in his elbow, has been working out in Fort Myers and telling everyone how great he feels.

Our View: He’ll get to prove it next week, when he climbs on a mound for the first time since breaking down in May. He was an excellent middle reliever two seasons ago and a return to form would make him worth considering in deep leagues that value holds.

Twins reliever Pat Neshek, who had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his elbow, will be able to throw off a mound in about two weeks, according to the AP.

Our View: Neshek is expected to be able to pitch in mid-November in instructional league games before making his way to spring training with Minnesota.

Despite hope earlier in the month that he might make a return late this season, Twins reliever Pat Neshek will not make it back, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Neshek tore a ligament in his throwing elbow in Many and he has spent the summer recovering. He can continue his rehab in the offseason and he should be ready to go next spring.

Pat Neshek, who has been out of action since early May due to an acute partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, is not expected to return to the Twins this season, but is still not going to be counted out, according to the Star-Tribune. Neshek has started a throwing program in Florida. He's throwing from 60 feet but will soon move to 75 feet, then 90. He might throw off a mound by the end of the month. Manager Ron Gardenhire said, "If everything goes great and he feels nothing sure he can come back and be here in September or something. The problem is when you get to September, there is nowhere to pitch during a rehab stint. No place to go."

Our View: Neshek was solid as a setup man for the Twins this season, and would help their push to claim the AL Central division title, but fantasy owners should not be counting on him to return.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 5/10, 12:39 PM CT
Pat Neshek has been placed on the 15-day DL on Friday, after an MRI exam revealed an acute partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow, according to ESPN. Neshek will not be allowed to throw for a minimum of three months, which means the injury has ended his season. But he said he won't need surgery. Neshek said, "Obviously it's really bad, but it's good I can come back and rehab this and not have to go through surgery and sit out for a good year. So we're going to prepare for Opening Day next year. It just needs a little bit of time to heal and a little bit of rehab to build it back up."

Our View: The Twins' setup man held a 1.20 WHIP over 13.1 innings, with 15 strikeouts. Jesse Crain and Matt Guerrier will likely share the eighth inning role, until one of them outperforms the other.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 5/9, 8:31 AM CT
Pat Neshek will have his injured elbow examined by team orthopedist Dan Buss today, according to the Star Tribune. Neshek said he hadn't experienced any pain in the elbow before he threw a slider to Joe Crede of the White Sox in the eighth inning. Neshek said, "I just felt something tweak. The trainers came out, and we wanted to just play it safe and make sure nothing bad happened."

Our View: Neshek allowed 12 hits and seven runs over 13.1 innings, but still held a 1.20 WHIP. He racked up 15 strikeouts as well. He will be missed from the Twins' pen if he is to miss time. We will update you on his status following the results of his exam.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/8, 5:47 PM CT
Pat Neshek felt a pop in his elbow on Thursday and had to be removed from the game with a right elbow strain, according to the Associated Press. "I felt something tweak," Neshek said. "It kind of rolled over real quick like a snap. I'll get it checked out [Friday] morning and make sure nothing happened."

Our View: Uh oh. No further details are yet known, but after dealing with some arm issues toward the end of last season, this certainly could be bad news.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 4/7, 6:54 PM CT
Pat Neshek had an awful outing on Monday as he allowed three runs on three hits in just 0.2 innings to pick up his first blown save of the season for the Twins. Last season in 74 appearances, Neshek allowed three earned runs only twice so don't expect another repeat of this outing any time soon.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 9/22, 8:54 AM CT
The Twins have decided to shut down Pat Neshek for the remainder of the season due to his sore elbow. "It's the right thing to do," Neshek told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I can feel (pain) in there when I throw. I could keep going, but I'm not helping anybody by putting runners on base and giving up runs." Neshek will end his season with a 2.94 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, while striking out 74 batters in 70 1/3 innings.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 9/19, 11:36 AM CT
The Twins have shut down Pat Neshek for a few days for what they believe is a tired arm. "I don't know for how long, but I'm not going to pitch him for a while," manager Ron Gardenhire told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "We're going to give him a break here." Neshek holds a 2.94 ERA on the season, but he's struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 4.82 ERA, including a 6.00 mark in September. There's no reason to hold onto him for the final week.
Pat Neshek, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/27, 9:02 AM CT
Pat Neshek is going to start seeing some action in the eighth inning now. Manager Ron Gardenhire plans to work Neshek into the mix with setup man Juan Rincon, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Right now, Neshek's throwing lights out," Gardenhire said. "He's been really, really good." Neshek has a 1.48 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 30 strikeouts over 24 1/3 IP this season, while holding right-handed batters to a .133 BA and lefties to .148. The closer he gets to the ninth inning, the more likely he'll pick up a stray save. Regardless, his strikeouts and low averages make him helpful in any league.
