Dioner Navarro hit a two-run homer in the second inning to get the Rays going in an eventual 5-3 win over the Yankees.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 8/9, 7:26 PM CT
Dioner Navarro went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Ryan Rowland-Smith in Sunday's 11-2 loss at Seattle.

Our View: Navarro collected his seventh homer of the season, tying his total in 2008. He was in need of a solid performance, as he was hitless over his previous three games.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysFriday 7/17, 10:10 AM CT
According to the Tampa Tribune, Rays' catcher Dioner Navarro has pronounced himself fit to play.

Our View: Navarro practiced with the team on Thursday and said that he's sore, but is good enough to get back into games. He is still feeling the effects from taking a foul tip to the face mask last Saturday. Medical clearance hasn't yet been issued, but he should be good to go.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 7/12, 12:44 PM CT
According to ESPN.com, Rays' catcher Dioner Navarro does not have a concussion after undergoing tests Saturday night. Navarro hopes to return to the lineup after the All-Star break.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 7/11, 10:34 PM CT
Dioner Navarro is slated to undergo tests at a local hospital to determine if he suffered a concussion when struck on the side of his catching mask by a foul tip off the bat of Jack Cust in tonight's battle against Oakland at Tropicana Field, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He was woozy and not feeling well upon his exit from the game. We will keep you posted when Navarro's status is updated.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 7/9, 10:53 AM CT
Dioner Navarro is not in the Rays' lineup for their Thursday afternoon game against the Blue Jays. He will be replaced behind the plate by Michel Hernandez.

Our View: Just a day off because of the day game today for Navi, so no injury problems here. He is turning it around a bit at the plate lately, and there is a chance he could be a nice catching option in the second half. If he starts to get hot, jump on him if you need catching production.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 6/20, 1:55 PM CT
According to the Tampa Tribune, Rays catcher Dioner Navarro is not in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Mets.

Our View: Nothing to worry about here. Navarro played in the night game on Friday and day-night back to backers are rough on a catcher. This is just a day off. The game will most likely be rained out anyway.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysFriday 5/22, 10:12 PM CT
Catcher Dioner Navarro went 4-for-6, with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored as the Rays crushed the Marlins 15-2 on Friday.

Our View: Navarro may be on the verge of breaking out of his season long slump, and if you're looking for a second catcher, he is a very good option. He has seven hits in his last three games. He hit .295 a season ago, but is currently at just .211.

Dioner Navarro is set to return to the Rays' lineup tonight against Oakland after missing Tuesday's game with pink eye, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Dioner Navarro is suffering from a mild case of pinkeye, according to the Tampa Tribune. He will miss Monday night's game against Oakland and is considered day-to-day. Michel Hernandez will start in his place.

Our View: Navarro is not producing the type of numbers he put up last season and he is no longer owned in most leagues. We expect him to get hot at some point, so he's worth keeping an eye on.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysWednesday 4/15, 2:14 PM CT

Catcher Dioner Navarro was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in the Rays' 8-5 win over the Pirates Friday.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 2/10, 10:59 AM CT
Dioner Navarro has lost his arbitration case, according to the Tampa Tribune. That means Navarro will be paid $2.1 million in 2009, $400,000 less than he asked for.

Our View: He lost his case, but is still excited about reporting to spring training with the Rays and helping them make another run to the World Series. The 25-year-old has room to improve, and is worth targeting as a No. 2 catcher in mixed fantasy leagues.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysWednesday 2/4, 11:51 AM CT
Efforts to get a deal worked out with catcher Dioner Navarro have stalled for the Rays, and it appears he will head to arbitration, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 1/31, 11:31 PM CT
The St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Rays would like to avoid arbitration with catcher Dioner Navarro by signing him to a multiyear deal.

Our View: Navarro won't blow you away with his numbers, but you won't find too many catchers that hit .295 last season. In 427 at-bats, he collected 54 RBI, while walking 34 times and striking out on 49 occasions.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 1/27, 6:13 PM CT

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 9/16, 9:54 PM CT
Dioner Navarro hit a bases loaded single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rays a walk-off victory on Tuesday night. It was his only hit of the game.

Our View: Navarro was awful in August and has dealt with nagging injuries throughout 2008, but at .293, 47 RBI, and 24 doubles he has produced enough for a catcher to warrant fantasy acknowledgement. He is just 24 so he should be on the fantasy radar for a few more seasons.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 9/4, 9:57 PM CT
Dioner Navarro had four hits on Thursday night to boost his average to .297 for the Rays.

Our View: Navarro had an awful August hitting just .194 while dealing with some nagging injuries so it's great to see him bust out like this tonight. It's always hard to predict how a catcher will hold up over the course of a long season so we'll have to see how Navarro proceeds down the stretch.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 8/31, 12:43 PM CT
Dioner Navarro will get a few days off to rest his ailing hamstrings, as they ached after Saturday's game, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 8/30, 12:51 PM CT

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysFriday 8/29, 9:31 AM CT
Dioner Navarro said his hamstrings were improving, and the team is looking at Saturday as the day for his return, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: Navarro was available to come off the bench on Thursday, and he took some swings in the batting cage before the game. He has had a solid if unspectacular season, with an average of .290 with six home runs and 43 RBI.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 8/28, 7:43 PM CT
Dioner Navarro was again out of the starting lineup on Thursday due to the lingering cramps in his hamstrings, though he hopes to be able to return to action on Saturday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Navarro could be used in a pinch if needed, but the team is comfortable in giving him a couple more days off to make sure that this issue doesn't become a substantial concern.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 8/28, 2:05 PM CT
Dioner Navarro underwent a MRI on Wednesday after he had been suffering from some cramping hamstrings. According to The Tampa Tribune the results of the MRI showed nothing wrong and just a little rest should be the cure for the All-Star backstop.

Our View: Navarro got Wednesday off and looks like right now he will be out of the lineup tonight also.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysWednesday 8/27, 6:36 PM CT
Dioner Navarro was out of Wednesday night's starting lineup, but Rays manager Joe Maddon said the backstop was available off the bench if necessary, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The club's starting catcher, Navarro left Tuesday night's game in the bottom of the sixth inning with cramping in both hamstrings. Fortunately, the already injury-plagued Rays caught a break when an MRI on his legs came back clean. Although Maddon said he wanted to "back up" by giving Navarro some rest, the skipper didn't rule out using the switch-hitting Navarro if necessary during Wednesday's contest against the Blue Jays.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysWednesday 8/27, 5:11 PM CT
Dioner Navarro's MRI revealed no serious problems to his hamstrings, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: His status is day-to-day, he shouldn't miss any extended period of time. Look for this All-star to get back on track whenever he returns to the lineup.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 8/14, 7:18 PM CT
Dioner Navarro hit a single in the 12th inning that put the Rays up 7-5 over Oakland, and it wound up being the game winner as Tampa would go on to a 7-6 victory. Navarro was 2-for-4 with two RBI on the day.

Our View: Navarro saw his average in August rise 30 points, from .179 to .209 with his performance today. Navarro had really struggled producing runs in July, but his eight RBI this month are now twice the amount he had in July.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 8/5, 10:11 PM CT
Dioner Navarro went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs, and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Rays catcher Dioner Navarro did what he could to get his team moving towards a win but failed as Tampa Bay fell 8-4 to Cleveland. Navarro went 2-for-3 on the night with his 16th double of the season, totaling two RBIs along the way.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 7/1, 9:12 PM CT
The Rays continue to stay hot, tonight pushing through a pitcher's duel to emerge 3-1 over the Boston Red Sox. Catcher Dioner Navarro led the way, going 2-for-4 at the dish with two RBIs on the night.

Our View: Navarro is now hitting .316 on the season but has fallen over the last month, hitting just .253 through June after hitting .333 in May. However, he's showcasing power along the way, hitting three homers with 13 RBIs through June.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysFriday 6/20, 11:40 PM CT
Dioner Navarro went deep for the fourth time on the year, his only hit in a 1-for-4 outing against the Astros.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 6/3, 6:48 PM CT
With Carl Crawford out of the lineup, hot-hitting catcher Dioner Navarro was penciled into the No. 2 spot Tuesday. "He reminds me a lot of Carl Crawford," manager Joe Maddon told MLB.com with a chuckle. "The thing about that is, [Navarro is] a switch-hitter. There's a lot of things you can do with him. He plays a pretty complete game. He's not fast, but he's a very good baserunner. If you look at his on-base percentage hitting left-handed [.404], I'm just trying to get people on base in front of the three, four, five guys."

Our View: Navarro would be leading the AL with his .352 batting mark if he had enough at-bats to qualify. He's been a nice late-round bargain so far, though his power numbers (one homer, 18 RBI), aren't anything to write home about.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 5/18, 5:17 PM CT
Dioner Navarro went 1-for-4 on Sunday and finished the game with a .368 batting average.

Our View: Admit it, you hadn't realized he was hitting that well did you? Navarro hit .355 in 31 AB in April and is now hitting .346 in 52 AB in May. He may offer little in the power categories, but there may not be a better number two catcher to roll with right now.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 5/13, 9:58 PM CT
It took 11 innings to get the job done, but the Tampa Bay Rays emerged victorious 2-1 over the New York Yankees. Few of the batters let their best effort loose at the plate, but catcher Dioner Navarro went 2-for-3 with a walk, and while none of those offerings led to a run scored, they set the tone for a hard-fought win.

Our View: Navarro is on a bit of a role, suffering just one strikeout over his last nine games, going 11-for-28 during that same span.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysThursday 5/8, 10:25 PM CT
Dioner Navarro hit a grand slam in the 13th inning to help the Rays to an 8-3 victory over the Jays. Navarro had three hits and two runs on the night.

Our View: Navarro has been sharing time with Shawn Riggans in the early going but he has now boosted his average to .368 which calls for some more AB don't you think?
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 4/22, 9:17 PM CT
Dioner Navarro wasted no time in rediscovering his swing. The backstop went 3-for-4 with one run and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays. Navarro was also caught stealing. He came off the DL on Tuesday night.

Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 4/22, 4:32 PM CT
As expected, Dioner Navarro is listed as the starter for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, the Tampa Tribune reports. The backstop is returning from a stint on the DL due to finger lacerations. Navarro went 4-for-10 during his minor league rehab stint.

Dioner Navarro finished his rehab following his hand injury and is expected to be activated from the DL today, according to the AP. The team is also expected to designate backup catcher Mike DiFelice for assignment.

Dioner Navarro batted six times in an extended spring training game on Thursday and should be able to rejoin the Rays on Tuesday, the Tampa Tribune reports. He is out due to lacerations on the middle and ring fingers of his right hand.

Dioner Navarro was able to play in an extended spring training game on Wednesday and though he didn't bat because of his injured hand, he did throw out a runner trying to steal, this according to the St. Petersberg Times.

Our View: There is still no timetable for his return to the Rays, but when he is recalled it is not clear whom the Rays will demote be it either Mike DiFelice or Shawn Riggans.
Dioner Navarro, C, Tampa Bay RaysMonday 4/14, 5:38 PM CT

Our View: Navarro followed up a strong spring with a 3-for-9 start, and we hope the injury won't cause him to turn back into a useless hitter. We'll continue to update his status.
