Our View: Aardsma had a fantastic season as a first-year closer and it's surprising he didn't get a nicer payout from the Mariners. With 38 saves, a 2.52 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 71.1 innings, he was one of the better fantasy closers last year.

David Aardsma got blasted by the Orioles on Wednesday. The closer took a 3-0 lead in the ninth inning and quickly turned it into a 5-3 loss. He allowed all five runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk without recording an out.

Our View: This was just Aardsma's second blown save all season, but it was a rough one. To tell you how dominant he's been this season, after Wednesday's dreadful performance his ERA is still a stellar 2.11.
David Aardsma, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/10, 8:47 PM CT
David Aardsma earned his 10th save of the season in Wednesday's 4-1 victory in Baltimore. He did not allow a base runner while striking out one in the appearance.

Our View: Aardsma has not allowed a run in 18 of his last 19 appearances and has been among the most reliable closers in the game over the past six weeks. He appears to have a firm grasp of the Mariners closers job and we expect him to remain there for the remainder of the season.

David Aardsma picked up his third save of the season as the Mariners beat the Angels 9-8 on Saturday. However, he allowed a two-run blast to Torii Hunter before recording the final out.

Our View: Aardsma is expected to have another side session Friday, at which time the club will re-assess and perhaps map out a brief rehab assignment for him next week while the club is on the road. Once he returns, he should continue to be an effective middle reliever for the Sox. He has a 2.75 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 38 appearances this season.
