Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/30, 9:28 PM CT
Adam LaRoche drove in his 39th and 40h runs since August 1 on Wednesday night, but couldn't propel the Braves to an absolutely essential win, as Atlanta lost 5-4 at home to the Marlins.

Our View: The free-agent-to-be has hit .347 in 53 games since being acquired by the Braves at the trade deadline, and there is a strong likelihood he will be back in Georgia in 2010.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/23, 9:44 PM CT
Adam LaRoche stayed hot on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with two RBI in the Braves' 5-2 win over the Mets.

Our View: LaRoche has been one of the most productive players in baseball since August 1, batting .355 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/21, 2:50 PM CT
After sitting out with a sore back on Sunday, first baseman Adam LaRoche will be back in the Braves lineup on Monday when they take on the Mets in New York, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Our View: LaRoche has been one of the hottest players in baseball in September, batting .344 with four home runs and 14 RBI.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/20, 11:38 AM CT
Adam LaRoche is out the Braves lineup on Sunday as he deals with a sore back, according to Mark Bowman on MLB.com.

Our View: No word on how serious it is, but he's likely day-to-day. Martin Prado will fill in for him at first base and will bat second.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/19, 9:38 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was 2-for-2 with a walk and a pair of RBI in the Braves 6-4 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Our View: LaRoche, notoriously a huge second half hitter, is living up to his billing. Since coming to the Braves at the trade deadline he's hitting over .350 with 12 homers and 33 RBI.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/15, 8:59 PM CT
Adam LaRoche had a monster day at the plate on Tuesday. The Braves third baseman went 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles, three RBI and four runs scored in a 6-0 win over the Mets.

Our View: LaRoche has been killing the ball since coming back to the Braves and has 11 homers and 30 RBI in just 40 games with his "new" club.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/13, 3:59 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI in the Braves' 9-2 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Our View: LaRoche has been outstanding since coming back to Atlanta this season, and he capped a vry good weekend against the Cards with his performance today. He is worth a look if you need first base help, as he looks comfortable back home.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/30, 12:28 AM CT
Adam LaRoche was forced to leave the Braves game early on Saturday with a sore right hip, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View: LaRoche doesn't expect to miss much time with the injury, however, and may even be in the Braves lineup tomorrow.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/17, 6:05 PM CT
Adam LaRoche led the Braves offensively in Monday's 9-4 win over Arizona at Turner Field, as he went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a two-run homer off Max Scherzer.

Our View: LaRoche recorded his fourth homer of August, and his 17th of the season. He is on pace to reach at least 20 homers for the fifth straight season.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/12, 8:58 PM CT
Newest Brave (for the second time) Adam LaRoche led the charge against the Nationals on Wednesday night. The Chop's first baseman went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI, as Atlanta won 6-2 at home.

Our View: With 16 home runs and 50 RBI, LaRoche is a great fill-in option in at first or utility in mixed formats, and, obviously, a must own in NL-only leagues during his second tour of duty with Atlanta.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/11, 3:10 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is not in the Braves' lineup for their Tuesday night game against the Nationals. Martin Prado will start at first in his place.

Our View: Just a night off against a lefty for LaRoche tonight, so get him out if you have another option. LaRoche has played pretty well since coming back to Atlanta, and he looks comfortable there.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/3, 11:52 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-2 with a solo homer off Mat Latos in tonight's 4-2 loss at San Diego.

Our View: LaRoche hit his 14th homer of the season, and his first as a member of the Braves. He also has a hit in all three games played with Atlanta, and is fitting in well.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/1, 2:13 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is in the lineup and batting fifth for the Braves on Saturday.

Our View: FYI for fantasy owners in daily transaction leagues. LaRoche might move down to the sixth spot in games where Brian McCann is playing. The stud catcher is getting a day off on Saturday.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/31, 2:56 PM CT
According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, the Red Sox have indeed flipped Adam LaRoche to the Braves for Casey Kotchman in a swap of first basemen.

Our View: This is good news for LaRoche owners as he looks to have a full time job at first once again. Quite the opposite for Kotchman owners though. He is now likely third on the Red Sox depth chart at first base behind Kevin Youkilis and Victor Martinez.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/31, 2:39 PM CT
According to Yahoo! Sports' Gordon Edes, the Braves have acquired expendable first baseman Adam LaRoche from the Red Sox.

Our View: Rumor has it that the deal is a straight swap of LaRoche for Casey Kotchman. Why the Sox would trade one expendable first baseman (with no spot to play him) for another is puzzling.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/31, 1:19 PM CT
According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Red Sox may need to flip Adam LaRoche if the pending deal for Victor Martinez is completed.

Our View: The Sox would have a messy platoon situation between Martinez, LaRoche, Kevin Youkilis, Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek and even David Ortiz if the deal goes through. Flipping LaRoche would help, but it may be tough to find takers. The Marlins have already stated they aren't interested.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/28, 4:47 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is not in the Red Sox lineup on Tuesday, as Mike Lowell will return to play third. Kevin Youkilis will move from third to first, putting LaRoche on the bench.

Our View: The Sox have an interesting platoon going between these three guys, and Lowell figures to be the one to see more time on the bench than the others. Expect LaRoche to be in the lineup on a mostly regular basis, but if you have him get him out tonight.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/25, 10:58 PM CT
Adam LaRoche homered in his debut at first base for the Red Sox on Saturday. The homer was a two-run shot and he finished the day 1-for-4.

Our View: Looks like LaRoche is adjusting to his new digs pretty quickly. He's a big-time second half performer and could be worth starting in mixed leagues as long as you monitor closely what days he starts.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/25, 4:38 PM CT
According to the Boston Globe, newly acquired bat Adam LaRoche will make his Red Sox debut at first base on Saturday.

Our View: Kevin Youkilis gets the day off as LaRoche will hit seventh and play first against the Orioles. Fantasy owners are hoping he takes advantage of the Green Monster.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/24, 6:46 PM CT
Adam LaRoche has been activated by the Red Sox, according to the Associated Press. He was acquired via trade from Pittsburgh Wednesday.

Our View: LaRoche will see action at first base, with Kevin Youkilis spelling Mike Lowell at third. LaRoche is an option for AL-only leagues, namely with a strong supporting cast in Boston.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/22, 11:25 AM CT
According to WEEI.com, multiple sources have the Pirates sending Adam LaRoche to the Boston Red Sox for Double-A shortstop Argenis Diaz and Single-A pitcher Hunter Strickland once the deal is finalized.

Our View: LaRoche will see some time at first base, with Kevin Youkilis playing third due to Boston's concern over Mike Lowell's health. He likely won't play every day, but should see a decent number of at-bats as the Sox need some left-handed pop to help curb their struggles against right-handed pitching this season. LaRoche is hitting just .247 with 12 homers and 40 RBI to this point, but is notorious second half performer.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/22, 11:08 AM CT
According to Ed Price of MLB Fanhouse's Twitter account, the Pirates have traded first baseman Adam LaRoche.

Our View: No details or destination yet, but the Pirates' clubhouse is apparently buzzing about it. No lineup has been posted for today's game, but it seems like LaRoche will not be in it. Stay tuned as we try and figure out where he's headed and who the Buccos are getting in return.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/20, 11:10 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in tonight's 8-5 win over the Brewers at PNC Park. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: LaRoche was in need of a solid outing, as he only had one hit over his previous six games (23 at-bats). He is only hitting .129 so far this month, after batting .344 in June.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/10, 9:21 AM CT
Like they are with Freddy Sanchez, the Pirates are "pushing hard" to trade Adam LaRoche, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: This is not surprising in the slightest, but there is apparently little interest in the free agent to be and the 2009 money remaining on his $7 million deal. He is hitting just .259 in 2009, but does have 12 home runs. If he is dealt, it will likely be closer to the deadline when teams are more desperate.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/6, 8:43 AM CT
The San Francisco Giants have had discussions regarding Pirates first baseman Adam LaRoche, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: LaRoche's contract is up after this season is over, so the Giants interest is not all that surprising. They are said to prefer a right-handed bat at first base, though, making the lefty hitting LaRoche unideal. He also has nearly $3.5 remaining on his 2009 salary as well, making him tougher to trade than some other Pirates players.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/2, 4:49 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was productive in Thursday's 9-8 loss to the Mets at PNC Park, as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. He hit a single and a two-run homer off closer Francisco Rodriguez.

Our View: LaRoche ended a seven-game skid without a homer, and leads the Pirates with 12 for the season. He snapped a four-game drought without an RBI as well.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/24, 10:36 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Indians at PNC Park.

Our View: He has homered in back-to-back games, and hit four so far in June. He is batting .357 (25-for-70) this month as well.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/23, 9:48 PM CT
Adam LaRoche started a four-run ninth inning rally on Tuesday night, hitting a two-run home run off of Indians reliever Matt Herges, but the Bucs fell just short as the Tribe held on for a 5-4 win.

Our View: LaRoche has been underwhelming in 2009, hitting just ten home runs while batting .259, but is still great trade bait for the perpetually rebuilding Pirates and likely will not be in a Pittsburgh uniform after the trade deadline has come and gone.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 6/22, 1:23 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is not about to traded, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: There had been some speculation LaRoche was on the way out after the team recently promoted Steve Pearce, but general manager Neal Huntington says there is nothing to the rumors. Sadly, usually when there is smoke, there is fire with the Pirates and would it not be at all surprising if LaRoche is moved sometime before next month's trading deadline to serve as a contending team's backup or fill-in first baseman.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/17, 10:30 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Twins. He has raised his average 20 points in the last four games.

Our View: LaRoche looks to be heating up again, and he has shown in the past that he can put together some very productive streaks. He is 8-for-15 in his last four games with two home runs and two doubles.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/10, 9:11 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBI as the Pirates defeated the Braves 3-2 on Wednesday.

Our View: After hitting only .200 in May, LaRoche is up to .313 through 32 June at bats. He has also drawn nine walks against only six strikeouts, indicating that he is becoming more disciplined at the plate. There's a good chance he is on your waiver wire, and if you're looking for a corner infielder, you could certainly do worse than LaRoche.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 5/21, 8:45 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and two RBI in the Pirates' 5-4 loss to the Nationals on Thursday.

Our View: LaRoche now has seven homers this season, but is hitting just .232 on the year. LaRoche is a notorious slow starter and does most of his damage after the All Star break. The seven homers so far aren't bad, but the average needs to greatly improve to warrant fantasy consideration beyond deep NL-only leagues.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 5/13, 8:03 PM CT
According to USA Today, Adam LaRoche became the first player to have a home run taken away by instant replay on Wednesday.

Our View: LaRoche blasted a shot in the first inning that appeared to hit a railing above the 21-foot wall in right field. It was called home run, but after review was reversed almost immediately. The umps made the right call and LaRoche was awarded a double.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/26, 8:28 PM CT
Adam LaRoche blasted two home runs on Sunday in the Pirates' 8-3 win over the Padres. He was 2-for-3 with four RBI, a pair of walks and three runs scored.

Our View: LaRoche has been a notorious slow starter throughout his career, but is breaking his chains this season. He now has five homers and 14 RBI to go along with a .288 average. Like the rest of the Pirates, he continues to surprise.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/22, 2:50 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-4 win over Florida at PNC Park. He collected three doubles and a single.

Our View: He raised his season batting average to .304, with seven doubles and 10 RBI over 14 games. He has struck out 15 times, but is having a solid season overall so far.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/13, 3:48 PM CT
Although he has struggled so far in 2009, Adam LaRoche had a nice game at the plate Monday against the Astros, going 3-for-4 with a double, home run, and two RBI.

Our View: This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as LaRoche will show good power at times. Still, he is more likely to have less of these games than more of them.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/9, 12:07 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is being held out of today's lineup against the Cardinals due to a stomach virus, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: Eric Hinske will cover first for today, and skipper John Russell is hoping LaRoche's virus will only last for a couple of days.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/3, 3:26 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Friday's 4-4 tie against Minnesota. That marks his third homer of the spring.

Our View: LaRoche has potential to be a solid fantasy first baseman, but he needs to stay consistent over the course of the season, and not just heat up down the stretch, as he did in 2008.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 3/7, 3:20 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the spring in the Pirates 10-1 win over Minnesota.

Our View: The two hits improved his spring average to .211. Could this be the season that the elder LaRoche shows up before the all-star break? We wouldn't bank on it, but there's a lot to love about his .297/.360/.548 second half.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/28, 6:08 PM CT
Adam LaRoche struggled on Saturday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Astros.

Our View: LaRoche is the most likely candidate to be Pittsburgh's starting first baseman, after hitting 25 homers with 85 RBI and a .270 average in 2008. Everyone has days like he had on Saturday, especially early in spring training.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 2/13, 9:12 AM CT
Catcher Ryan Doumit endorses Adam LaRoche to have have a good 2009 campaign, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Doumit said, "Adam LaRoche is the man. And this is the year."

Our View: LaRoche has been working through the off-season with hitting coach Don Long, and will be looking to change his track record of getting off to a slow start. LaRoche should be drafted as a reserve and employed in lineups when he hits his stride.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/20, 9:32 AM CT
The Pirates have avoided salary arbitration with Adam LaRoche by signing him to a one-year deal for $7.05 million, according to ESPN.

Our View: He will be the Pirates' second-highest paid player behind Jack Wilson, who will earn $7.25MM in 2009. LaRoche earned the deal by leading the Pirates in home runs (25) and RBI (85) in 2008.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 10/3, 8:15 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Pirates and first baseman Adam LaRoche are working on a new contract, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "As we pencil our club forward. Adam is the guy we pencil in there," said Pittsburgh GM Neal Huntington.

Our View: LaRoche hit .270 with 25 home runs and 85 RBI this season. His OBP was .341 and he struck out 122 times in 492 at-bats. He will once again be a useful player for fantasy owners, though far from an upper-echelon option.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/28, 6:50 PM CT
Adam LaRoche hit his 25th home run of the season on Sunday as the Pirates won in San Diego 6-1. He was 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Our View: LaRoche, as typical, struck again in the second half of the season. Before the All-Star break he hit .251 with 11 home runs. In the 48 games since then, he hit .301 with 13 round-trippers.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/24, 7:54 AM CT
Adam LaRoche is dealing with a tight left hamstring, but he may return to action as early as tonight, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: LaRoche admitted that the injury has bothered him off and on for around two years. LaRoche has been hitting well as of late with four homers over his last six games.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/23, 5:33 PM CT
Adam LaRoche's sore hamstring is better, but he will get Tuesday's game off, anyway, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Hopefully, he'll be able to finish the season," manager John Russell said. "The extra day off should really help."

Our View: LaRoche has been red hot lately, so owners are hoping to get him back as soon as possible.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/21, 10:25 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is day to day due to hamstring tightness, according to the Pirates Official Website. "His hamstring started getting tight [Saturday]," Pirates manager John Russe'l said. "And it just continued to get tight. We'll see how he is Tuesday."

Our View: This comes at a terrible time for LaRoche owners as he has been on fire in September hitting .350 with five home runs and 22 RBI in the month, the RBI total being the third highest mark in the majors (Ryan Howard has 27, Manny Ramirez has 24).
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/17, 10:08 PM CT
Adam LaRoche hit two home runs and drove in five runs in the Pirates' 15-8 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday night.

Our View: During the month of September LaRoche has turned it on with 21 RBI and an average of .348. Even though LaRoche has had some recent success, his 2008 season has been a disappointment for fantasy owners.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/15, 9:11 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: LaRoche has 16 RBI in 13 games this month, but his fantasy owners will all tell you that it's too little, too late. Yes, Adam is having a strong second half, but his season still looks like a disappointment.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/14, 4:57 PM CT
Adam LaRoche had another two hits on Sunday on his way to knocking in three runs to boost his total to 73.

Our View: Here we go again. In 12 September games LaRoche has been held hitless only three times on his way to hitting .357 on the month. He has also knocked in 13 runs in yet another mad dash to the finish line for the first baseman.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/10, 10:50 PM CT
Adam LaRoche socked his 19th home run of the year on Wednesday night as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Pirates.

Our View: LaRoche has two hits in five of his last seven starts as he is once again proving to be a tremendous late season performer. Though he has spent some time on the DL since the break, he still has hit .315 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 34 post break games.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/7, 9:50 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Pirates tied the record for most consecutive losing seasons in the history of professional sports with their loss on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pirates have not had a winning record in 16 years.

Our View: The Pirates tied the 1933-48 Philadelphia Phillies for the dubious mark. And it is entirely possible that they will hold the record for themselves after next season.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/24, 5:22 PM CT
Pirates first baseman Adam LaRoche was ejected, along with manager John Russell, for arguing balls and strikes during the Pirates 4-3 loss to Milwaukee. Up until his ejection, LaRoche was 1-for-3 on the day.

Our View: LaRoche was replaced by Doug Mientkiewicz, who went 0-for-2 the rest of the way. LaRohe has had a solid August, with hits in five of his last six games.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/18, 2:52 PM CT
Adam LaRoche led the Pirates in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets at home, as he went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. His other hit was a single.

Our View: LaRoche is past his ribcage injury and looks to be a solid contributor down the stretch.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/15, 8:55 PM CT
Adam LaRoche's first game back from the DL was not good, but his second game back was, as he picked up three base hits in a loss to the Mets.

Our View: Hopefully LaRoche can get hot over the final six weeks to make his 2008 digits look a little more respectable.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 8/14, 9:20 PM CT
Adam LaRoche returned from the disabled list for the Pirates on Thursday, and responded by going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in his team's 3-2 loss to Cincinnati.

Our View: LaRoche had not played since July 27, so some rust may have been expected. Don't hesitate to use him in your fantasy lineup.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 8/14, 10:45 AM CT
Adam LaRoche has been activated from the DL following his bout with a strained rib cage, according to the Arizona Star. Jose Bautista was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the roster.

Our View: - LaRoche is worth consideration in mixed leagues, as he registered multiple hits in three of his last five games prior to landing on the DL, with three homers over the span. He may be rusty in his first few games back, but should be fine to use for the next fantasy week.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/13, 8:54 AM CT
Adam LaRoche is expected to return to the Pirates today after playing a second rehab game Tuesday night, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Manager John Russell said LaRoche has had no issue with the pulled rib muscle that has kept him out since July 27.

Our View: LaRoche is worth consideration in mixed leagues, as he registered multiple hits in three of his last five games prior to landing on the DL, with three homers over the span.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/10, 11:56 PM CT
Adam LaRoche will play a couple more rehabilitation games in the minor leagues and should return to the Pirates on Wednesday, and not Tuesday when he is eligible to return, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: LaRoche said he felt great, so it seems likely he will be back Wednesday. Be sure to adjust your fantasy rosters accordingly.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/10, 8:07 AM CT
Adam LaRoche, who is recovering from a right intercostal strain, wants to play Tuesday when he is eligible to come off the DL, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: While LaRoche continues to feel great and took live batting practice Saturday night, the Pirates want to be careful with him because of the nature of his injury. It is probable LaRoche will play in one or two minor league rehab games beginning Monday.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/8, 5:24 PM CT
Adam LaRoche, eligible to return from the DL on Tuesday from a ribcage strain, hopes to take some swings in the batting cage on Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: Adam may not travel with the team on Monday in order to play in a one game minor league rehab assignment. Baring a setback, he should be back at first early next week for a club that desperately needs his power bat.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/4, 7:40 AM CT
Adam LaRoche did his first running since injuring his rib cage muscle eight days ago and could begin swinging a bat Wednesday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: There is no set timetable for his return, but he is likely to be out until late August. He was hitting well prior to getting hurt, with a .390 average in July with six home runs and 18 RBI.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/30, 7:47 AM CT
Adam LaRoche, who is battling a strained intercostal muscle that runs through the ribs on the right side of his back, hopes to come off the DL when first eligible August 12, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said, "I want to be back the first day I can, but we'll see."

Our View: He will need 7-10 days of rest before he can begin swinging a bat. LaRoche feels a pinching pain when he rotates, and that must subside before serious activity resumes. It is a shame that he is injured, as he was hitting .390 in July with six homers and 18 RBI.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/29, 2:39 PM CT
The Pirates officially placed Adam LaRoche on the DL Tuesday with back spasms. Brian Bixler replaced him on the roster.

Our View: It's a shame LaRoche had to come down with an ailment now that he's finally starting to heat up. Doug Mientkiewicz will see the bulk of the playing time at first.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/29, 12:29 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Adam LaRoche is headed to the 15-day disabled list with back spasms. LaRoche had been batting .390 in July, with home runs in his past three games. Jose Bautista will likely get starts in his place.

Our View: LaRoche should be able to return when he is eligible and once he does, expect solid production from him as usual in August and September.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/27, 6:51 PM CT
Adam LaRoche left Sunday's game with back spasms. He is listed as day-to-day. He was 1-for-3 with an RBI. It's unknown if he will go on Monday.

Our View: LaRoche had been enjoying a rather hot bat as of late but its likely he takes a few days off to get this under control. Jose Bautista will see starts when LaRoche is unable to go.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/26, 9:16 PM CT
Adam LaRoche homered for the second consecutive game, and after going 2-for-5 on the night, the first baseman is hitting .378 (14-for-37) since the All-Star break.

Our View: LaRoche is having a superb July, so if he is laying around on the waiver wire somewhere, the prudent move would be to acquire him.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/25, 8:52 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-3, scoring three runs and knocking in two in the Pirates loss to San Diego.

Our View: LaRoche is scorching in July, hitting .391 for the month. The first baseman is only hitting .259 on the season, so it's possible he may still be on the waiver wire. If so, pick him up if you are in need of a first baseman.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/17, 10:58 PM CT
Adam LaRoche started off the second half in usual fashion. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Colorado on Thursday.

Our View: It might be a good time to pick up Laroche if you are needing a first baseman in a deep league. He tends to hit very well in the second half...and now he's in a contract season.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/13, 1:55 PM CT
Adam LaRoche did not start today's game against St. Louis due to a right thumb contusion, but he is available to pinch-hit, according to Pirates.com.

Our View: LaRoche is hitting well lately, so this comes at a bad time. In his last 10 games, he is 13-for-34, an average of .382, and has three home runs during that time. NL-only fantasy owners should take note.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/7, 9:49 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-2, reached base four times, scored twice and recorded an RBI in the Pirates 10-7 win over the Astros on Monday night.

Our View: LaRoche is beginning to see the ball better. The first baseman hit his ninth home of season on Sunday and followed that with a two-hit performance on Monday night. LaRoche raised his average to .243 with the performance.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/6, 10:18 PM CT
Adam LaRoche hit his ninth homer of the season on Sunday. He recorded two RBI and scored two runs.

Our View: LaRoche is notorious for being a second half player. Expect this season to be no different.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/1, 10:30 PM CT
It took 11 innings but the Pirates found the offense needed to earn the 6-5 win over Cincinnati, giving first baseman Adam LaRoche the star of the evening. LaRoche went 2-for-3 with two walks and his 15th double of the season to total one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View: LaRoche hit just .253 through June with two homer and 10 RBIs, a far cray from the five homers and 19 RBIs he totaled in May. The Pirates are hoping this gets him moving back towards more positive results.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/22, 4:34 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-4 on Sunday with a run scored though he continues to languish at the plate with a paltry .217 average and seven home runs for the Pirates.

Our View: To think, just two years ago this guy produced 32 home runs and 90 RBI for the Braves. Even last years somewhat minor production (.272-21-88) appears out of reach for the lefty, though he has long been known as a second half performer.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/15, 10:56 AM CT
After a two-game absence, Adam LaRoche was back in the lineup yesterday as the Pirates designated hitter. Doug Mientkiewicz started at first base. This afternoon, expect to see Ryan Doumit in the designated hitter role and Raul Chavez behind the plate. LaRoche likely will be at first base.

Our View: Playing LaRoche at DH was done to give the slumping first baseman time to focus on his swing.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 6/14, 9:47 PM CT
Pittsburgh didn't have to travel far to get their interleague fix, but they can't be happy with the results, falling 8-7 to the Baltimore Orioles. Designated hitter Adam LaRoche did what he could to jump start the drive, but the effort fell short. LaRoche went 2-for-4 with his seventh homer of the season to total two RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: LaRoche is hitting just .176 through June, hitting his first homer since May 27th this evening.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSaturday 6/14, 10:02 AM CT
Adam LaRoche sat out on Friday for the second straight day. He is hitting .176 (6-for-34) this June. "I think the biggest thing Adam needs to do is just relax," manager John Russell tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "He's trying to do so much that he's not seeing the ball well."

Our View: LaRoche showed glimpses of breaking out in May, but he remains one of this season's bigger disappointments. He should be on your bench if you can afford to wait.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/18, 4:33 PM CT
Adam LaRoche hit his fifth home run of the season leading to a three RBI day for the Pirates.

Our View: Here we go again. LaRoche, a notoriously slow starter, now has four home runs and 15 RBI in his last 17 games. Make a move to acquire him if he is still available.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/12, 2:58 PM CT
Adam LaRoche went 2-for-3 and blasted a two-run homer in Monday's 5-0 victory over Atlanta.

Our View: LaRoche is only hitting .212 for the season, but is playing very well right now, as that was his third homer in May, to go along with eight RBI in the month.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/4, 4:37 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was allowed to run around all four bases on Sunday when he hit something called a "home run." The first baseman said he is unfamiliar with the expression, since he has not swatted a ball over the fence since April 9. LaRoche also had two other hits against the Nationals. It was his first three-hit day of the season.

Our View: LaRoche is over .200! Can you believe it? His batting average hasn't been this high since April 2. Adam is a notorious slow starter, and we pray he is beginning to break out of his hibernation.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/17, 12:16 AM CT
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk on Wednesday in the Pirates loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: LaRoche has always been a slow starter, but he has just three RBI and a .143 batting average through 42 AB, and that isn't slow, it's glacial. Look for him to breakout of the slump soon, that is if he is over his recent bout with the flu.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/14, 8:45 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is not listed in Monday's lineup against the Dodgers. He is presumably still dealing with the illness that kept him out on Sunday. Doug Mientkiewicz will start at first.

Our View: LaRoche is a career .172 hitter in April, and this illness just gives fantasy owners an even better excuse to bench him.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/14, 12:33 PM CT
Adam LaRoche was a late scratch on Sunday due to flu-like symptoms, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: The severity of his illness is unknown, and hopefully he will be back in action soon.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/7, 12:29 PM CT
Adam LaRoche is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. He also sat out on Sunday due to a sore right thumb. "I can't even feel it until I try to swing," LaRoche informs the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "But I'd rather play it safe and take a day or two off (now)." He is day-to-day. Doug Mientkiewicz will start in his place.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/6, 11:37 AM CT
Adam LaRoche will not start on Sunday against the Marlins, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Manager Russell said that LaRoche has some tenderness in his right thumb and has been cheating a little bit on his swing, as he tried to fight through the ailment. He only recorded two hits over 22 at-bats, with 10 strikeouts so far this season, and hopefully he can bounce back when he returns.
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/24, 12:31 PM CT
Adam LaRoche, who was held out of the Saturday spring game, returned to the lineup Sunday and went 1-for-3 with a double, notes The Beaver County Times. LaRoche is coming off what most would consider a disappointing 2007 campaign, this after having a breakout season for the Braves in '06. The left-handed hitter is a perfect fit for the short right field porch in PNC Park. With any success this year, and avoiding a slow start like last spring, he should outperform his current ADP (15th round).
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/15, 10:59 AM CT
The Pirates avoided arbitration by inking Adam LaRoche to a one-year, $5 million deal Monday. The two sides will also continue discussing a long-term extension, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. LaRoche hit .272 with 21 homers and 88 RBI last year in his first season with the Bucs.

Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/6, 11:09 AM CT
Adam LaRoche will have his troublesome left knee examined after the season, and he's prepared to undergo surgery if that's what's needed, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We'll look at it when we're all done," LaRoche said. "But, if you do anything right now, that's your season. And it's just not that bad." LaRoche has been tearing the cover off the ball as of late, hitting .373 with four homers and 14 RBI over the last three weeks.

Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/13, 8:53 PM CT
Manager Jim Tracy said he is monitoring Adam LaRoche's ongoing problems with a sore left knee. "This is something that could rear it's head again," Tracy said in the AP. "It's a day-to-day thing that we're going to manage and monitor."
Adam LaRoche, 1B, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/8, 6:33 AM CT
Adam LaRoche was scratched shortly before Saturday's game because of lingering pain in his left knee, a problem he has had since the June 26-28 series in Miami, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. LaRoche pushed himself through the afternoon batting practice to try to play, but he and Jim Tracy agreed it was not a good idea. Sore knee or not, LaRoche has been smoking hot at the plate lately, in a 16-for-37 groove with five homers over his last nine games.
