Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/24, 11:11 PM CT
Fred Lewis went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in tonight's 3-1 win at Colorado. He hit a single, double and a triple.

Our View: Lewis was in need of a solid performance, as he was hitting .167 over 24 at-bats this month heading into tonight's game. He is only an option for deeper fantasy leagues.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 6/20, 12:44 AM CT
Fred Lewis led the Giants in Friday's 6-4 win over the Rangers at AT&T Park, as he went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer off Scott Feldman.

Our View: Lewis ended a 16-game drought without a homer, and now has four for the season. He also snapped a 12-game skid without an RBI.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 5/13, 7:53 AM CT
Fred Lewis sat out Tuesday's game while nursing a toe injury, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was available to pinch-hit if needed.

Our View: The Giants did not disclose if he will return to the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. He is hitting .286 with a .390 OBP, but is yet to launch a homer and only swiped two bases. His 36 strikeouts over 105 at-bats are hurting fantasy owners as well.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/2, 12:26 PM CT
Outfielder Fred Lewis has been dropped out of the leadoff spot and will now hit sixth in the order, the San Francisco Chronicle confirms. Randy Winn will be the new leadoff hitter.

Our View: Lewis is hitting .300 and has a .417 OBP, but he has hit only .129 (4-for-31) in the top spot and is striking out way too much. This move will hurt Lewis' run potential and give a little boost to Winn.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/26, 1:18 PM CT
Outfielder Fred Lewis will get the day off on Sunday against the Diamondbacks, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Randy Winn slides over to left field and will bat leadoff, and Nate Schierholtz will get his first start of the year.

Our View: Nothing against Mr. Lewis, but it's about time that the Giants gave Schierholtz a start. The Giants still envision Nate as a future starter, but he continues to be blocked by Lewis, Winn, and Aaron Rowand.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 4/9, 10:13 PM CT
Fred Lewis was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored Thursday against the Brewers in the Giants' 7-1 victory.

Our View: Lewis batted in the three slot in the lineup, and it appears that he won't be moving from that spot any time soon. He batted nearly .400 in the spring and now has five hits in nine at-bats this season. His average currently sits at .556.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/1, 7:52 PM CT
Fred Lewis was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored on Wednesday. He is now hitting a sizzling .387 this spring.

Our View: The man who replaced Barry Bonds actually had a pretty productive season last year. He's a nice option for steals in NL-only leagues, but he won't hold much mixed value unless he ups his home run total from last year (nine), something that may not happen with his extreme groundball rate.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/9, 12:27 AM CT
Fred Lewis went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI Sunday as the Giants defeated the A's 10-1 in a split squad matchup.

Our View: The 28-year-old Lewis flourished in his first full season in the bigs in 2008, batting .282 with 132 hits in 133 games. He should be that much more confident in every phase of the game with a year now under his belt.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 2/25, 7:44 AM CT
Fred Lewis, who underwent bunion surgery last season, will be the only regular member of the Giants to sit out today's exhibition game against Cleveland, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The club is being cautious with him, and skipper Bruce Bochy expects Lewis to participate in the home opener against the Dodgers on Thursday. Nate Schierholtz will start in his absence.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 2/23, 7:24 AM CT
Fred Lewis, who underwent bunion surgery last season, is set to participate in today's base-running drill, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Skipper Bruce Bochy expects Lewis to be ready for the Cactus League opener against Cleveland on Wednesday. Lewis should bat leadoff for the Giants if healthy, and should hit for a solid average and be a nice source for stolen bases. He is worth drafting among the top-30 fantasy outfielders.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 9/30, 7:11 AM CT
The Giants are hoping Fred Lewis can begin running by mid-December or January, according to the SF Chronicle. He is recovering from bunion surgery.

Our View: Lewis will wear a protective boot for another six or seven weeks before he gets into sneakers. He previously indicated he is confident he will be fully healthy by spring training.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 9/25, 9:20 AM CT
Fred Lewis, coming off recent bunion surgery on his right foot, is confident he will be fully healthy come spring training, according to the AP.

Our View: Lewis was a solid leadoff hitter through 133 games this season. He hit .282, scored 81 runs, walked 51 times, and stole 21 bases. He would be greatly served if he could significantly cut down on his 124 strikeouts and play in front of some more threatening hitters.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/10, 1:50 PM CT
Giants outfielder Fred Lewis will have surgery on Friday to repair a bunion, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View: The surgery will end Lewis' season, and though he is expected to be fine for spring training next year, the paper notes that sometimes recovery can take up to six months.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/3, 12:07 AM CT
Fred Lewis went 2-for-4 and scored a run in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Padres at PETCO Park. He also chipped in a stolen base, his 20th of the season.

Our View: Lewis has registered two hits and a run in back-to-back games. He is now hitting .281 and should remain a solid source of steals and runs (66) for fantasy owners.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/27, 11:58 PM CT
Fred Lewis became the first left-handed hitter in history to record four hits off of LHP Randy Johnson. He was 4-for-4 with two stolen bases in the game.

Our View: Lewis is hitting leadoff for the Giants but not everyday. He is a good source of steals (19) and runs (63). If the Giants commit to him he could become a very solid fantasy contributor
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/21, 7:05 AM CT
Fred Lewis sat out Sunday's game due to pain from a bunion, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The team has discussed surgery, but will be a last resort because recovery can take eight months. The injury could bring Dave Roberts back to the club sooner, possibly this week.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 6/16, 9:23 PM CT
Fred Lewis is the Giants leadoff hitter, but he is acutely aware of some of the issues he has at the plate that might preclude him from excelling in the role long-term, according to MLB.com. "I'm not trying to get too deep in the count. I tend to strike out a lot," he said.

Our View: It's nice to see a player being self critical (he has 63 K in 69 games). Lewis is right, he should be hitting lower in the order at this point of his career, but with few other options, Lewis is doing his best to help the squad. He has value in mixed leagues with his speed, but he is really only an asset in NL Only leagues.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 6/12, 7:14 PM CT
Fred Lewis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI for the Giants in their 10-7 victory over the Rockies.

Our View: One of Lewis' hits was his fifth home run of the year as he continues to provide a decent level of overall production for an outfielder in mixed leagues.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 6/11, 11:15 PM CT
Fred Lewis had two hits and stole his 12th base of the season for the Giants on Wednesday night, though Bengie Molina was unable to hold onto his throw home on a Yorvit Torrealba game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Our View: Lewis has been a solid all-around hitter since entering the Giants lineup early on, and is likely at the start of a long and productive career even if he doesn't offer much at this point other than the stolen base.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/1, 8:51 PM CT
Lewis hit a two-run, game-tying triple off Trevor Hoffman, and scored the winning run on Jose Castillo's infield single as the Giants avoided a sweep by beating the San Diego Padres 4-3 on Sunday.

Our View: The ninth inning at-bat resulted in Lewis' first every pinch hit. The Giants outfielder is hitting .275 on the season with ten stolen bases and 34 runs scored.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 5/14, 12:04 AM CT
Fred Lewis was a home run short of the cycle on Tuesday night as he went 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Giants.

Our View: Lewis has seen his average tumble of late, but tonight's three hits pushed him back up to .298 on the season. Lewis continues to be one of the better free agent pickups of the early season, so continue to ride him until that average bottoms out.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/23, 12:05 AM CT
Giants LF Fred Lewis has all but secured a permanent position in the San Francisco outfield and reward his team as such with a big day at the plate in the 4-5 loss to Arizona. Lewis did all he could to influence a better outcome, going 3-for-5 at the plate with his seventh double of the season and two RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: That gives Lewis seven hits over his last three games, a solid start for a player on the rise.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 4/21, 11:33 PM CT
Fred Lewis had another solid outing on Monday night as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home runs against Arizona.

Our View: Lewis continues to be a nice surprise for the Giants as he is humming along with a .317 batting average. We would like to see him utilize his speed a bit better if possible but he does have two SB in three attempts on the year.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/19, 4:38 PM CT
Fred Lewis hopes that this season is the start of a long major league career as he continues to fill the leadoff role with the Giants with Dave Roberts injured, this according to MLB.com.

Our View: Lewis, who has only one SB, spoke about wanting to be more involved in the running game, but hitting over .400 in his last nine games still proves that Lewis can be a fine option in NL Only leagues at the moment.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/18, 11:24 PM CT
Fred Lewis stole his first base of the season and had a hit and RBI for the Giants in their loss to the Cardinals.

Our View: Lewis is a lower tier mixed league option in the outfield, but if the Giants continue to run him out there every day in the leadoff role, his value could grow.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/13, 7:04 PM CT
Watch out, Earl Webb. Fred Lewis is coming after you. The Giants outfielder went 2-for-4 with a double and a run on Sunday. Lewis has ripped six doubles over the last four games.

Our View: We're joking, of course. Lewis is not going to threaten Webb's record of 67 doubles in a single season, but Fred could help a lot of NL-only league fantasy teams while Dave Roberts remains out.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/12, 6:42 PM CT
Fred Lewis, batting leadoff, produced three hits, one RBI and one run scored on Saturday.

Our View: Lewis should continue to see the majority of AB in LF with Dave Roberts on the DL, but it should be noted that Rajai Davis did enter the game late for John Bowker to steal his fourth base of the season, so he could steal some of Lewis' at-bats.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/11, 7:49 AM CT
Fred Lewis fared very well in his left field start against St. Louis on Thursday, as he went 2-for-4, with a double and a triple, while scoring two runs. He is attempting to replace the injured Dave Roberts, and that was a great effort in his bid to keep the left field job.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 4/7, 3:55 PM CT
Fred Lewis is starting in right field on Monday. It's his second straight day in the lineup after coming off the bench in the first five games. Lewis is only 1-for-9 this season, but he is one of the team's few younger options.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 3/13, 6:19 PM CT
Fred Lewis went 2-for-4 on Thursday with an RBI, his eighth of the spring. He continues to hit well as he fights for a spot in the Giants' outfield.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/11, 8:49 PM CT
Fred Lewis is making some noise in an attempt to earn consideration for a job in the Giants' outfield, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Lewis was used in spots last year but struggled to earn significant playing time with Dave Roberts on the field. Roberts is still there, but Lewis is also getting time in right field where he is battling Nate Schierholtz for attention. Schierholtz has been a promising minor league player and would seem to have the edge, but today's game could help Lewis make an argument.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/26, 7:55 AM CT
Fred Lewis has been sidelined since Aug. 13 due to a sprained ankle. He wore a boot for a week but has been doing rehab work recently, according to the Contra Costa Times. The Giants optioned him to the minors earlier this month, and it appears unlikely that he will be healty enough to rejoin the team when rosters expand Sept. 1.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/1, 7:00 AM CT
Fred Lewis was activated off the 15-day disabled list Saturday. He's coming back from a strained muscle in his right side, and he was strong in a week-long rehab assignment at Triple-A, going 13-for-34 with two homers and 12 RBI. Lewis doesn't appear to have a regular spot with the Giants now that Dave Roberts is back, however; he was used as a pinch hitter Saturday, striking out.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/24, 7:56 AM CT
Fred Lewis began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Saturday, according to the Contra Costa Times. Manager Bruce Bochy said there wasn't a timetable for his return. "We just need to let him get his timing back," he said. Lewis is recovering from a strained muscle in his side and won't offer much even when he's ready to play.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 6/12, 11:50 PM CT
Fred Lewis, who is on the DL with a strained right side muscle, is in less pain now after getting injured Friday night, according to the AP. He is working to get his motion back and doing a lot of stretching and treatment. "The way I feel, it shouldn't be any longer than two weeks," he said. "But I don't want to rush into things."
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 6/9, 10:55 PM CT
Fred Lewis went on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained right oblique. Dave Roberts, fresh off the disabled list himself, will go back into center field on most nights for the Giants.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/13, 4:58 PM CT
Four days after being recalled from Triple-A, Fred Lewis hit for the cycle on Sunday against the Rockies. It was the 24th cycle in Giants history. Lewis went 5-for-6 on the day with four RBI and three runs scored while batting in the leadoff spot. With Dave Roberts sidelined for up to six weeks, Lewis should continue to get the majority of the playing time in center field for the Giants.
Fred Lewis, LF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/10, 9:28 PM CT
The Giants recalled Fred Lewis from Triple-A Fresno on Thursday. He was hitting .263 for Fresno and will see action in center field, since Dave Roberts is out for about a month due to surgery on his elbow.
