Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 10/7, 5:13 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers fully expect Rickie Weeks to be the team's starting second baseman in 2010.

Our View: Weeks will be fully healthy at the start of next season after missing all but 37 games in 2009, but that is hardly a guarantee that he will stay healthy. He was off to the most productive start of his career before getting injured this year, but he remains a very risky player, both for the Brewers and in fantasy leagues. The talent is there but the injury risk is beyond great and he has some mental hurdles to overcome. Don't waste anything more than a late flyer on him in next year's draft.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 8/27, 2:45 PM CT
MLB.com reports that injured second baseman Rickie Weeks has finally ruled out a return to the diamond this season.

Our View: Tell us something we didn't already know, Rickie. Weeks, who went down May 17th on an awkward swing, had wrist surgery three days later and the team pronounced him done for the year. With the Brewers well out of the race in the NL Central (12 games back), it seems foolish to try and rush him back in 2009. He will be arbitration eligible next season, and finished the year hitting .272 with nine homers and 24 RBI in 37 games.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/20, 4:48 PM CT
Rickie Weeks underwent successful surgery on his left wrist Wednesday, according to MLBlogs.com. Weeks will have the wrist immobilized for at least two months.

Our View: Weeks is still going to be out for the year, but at least nothing went wrong during surgery. He will have the wrist in a splint for the next two weeks and will then be in a long cast for about six weeks. Don't expect him to make a miraculous return at the end of the year, as the team has said he is done for 2009.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/19, 1:20 PM CT
Rickie Weeks has been placed on the 15-day DL, according to the Sports Network. The Brewers recalled infielder Hernan Iribarren from Triple-A Nashville to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View: As previously stated, Weeks is expected to miss the remainder of the 2009 campaign due to a tear in his left wrist. Weeks' long streak of bad luck with injuries continues.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/18, 5:20 PM CT
The Associated Press is reporting that Rickie Weeks is out for the season due to a tear in his left wrist. He will be replaced by Craig Counsell at second base for the Brewers.

Our View: This is bad news for the Brewers. They didn't think the injury would be this bad, so this news comes as a bit of a surprise. Counsell will get time at second base for now, but don't be surprised if the Brewers call up prospect Alcides Escobar in the near future.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/18, 12:09 PM CT
The Brewers are awaiting a diagnosis on Rickie Weeks' injured left wrist, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Soreness was the initial diagnosis, but the team would not have sent Weeks to a specialist 1,400 miles away in Arizona if they thought the injury was not potentially serious. The Brewers will make an announcement as soon as Weeks gets a more complete diagnosis.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/17, 6:06 PM CT
Updating a previous report, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Rickie Weeks is flying to Arizona to see a wrist specialist. He injured his left wrist during his first at bat on Sunday against the Cardinals.

Our View: Weeks has shown a lot of improvement this season, but the injury sounds like a serious one. He will not play on Monday and a trip to the DL is expected.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/17, 2:09 PM CT
Rickie Weeks exited Sunday's game at St. Louis in the first inning due to a sore left wrist, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Bill Hall came off the bench to cover third, and Craig Counsell replaced Weeks at second. The severity of Weeks' ailment is yet to be determined.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/13, 10:32 PM CT
Rickie Weeks was 3-for-5 with a homer, three runs scored and two RBI in the Brewers' 8-6 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

Our View: Weeks is finally having the breakout season fantasy owners have been waiting for since he broke into the league. He's now hitting .286 with nine homers and 24 RBI. Play him while he's hot.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/10, 10:25 PM CT
Rickie Weeks hit a leadoff home run in the Brewers 4-2 loss to the Cubs on Sunday. He finished 1-for-3 with two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Weeks already has 32 whiffs on the season and he is now up to 10 walks. He already has 21 RBI and seven home runs which is excellent production for a leadoff hitter. However, he is just 1-for-3 on stolen base opportunities this season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/4, 11:46 PM CT
Rickie Weeks dropped another bomb on Monday, helping the Brewers to a 7-4 victory over the Pirates. Weeks had two hits and three RBI on the night.

Our View: Weeks has shown the ability to hit for power this season, and that power is strengthening his fantasy value. Six homers is a big number for the position he plays, so he is a strong option in all leagues.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 4/27, 10:52 PM CT
Rickie Weeks was 1-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in Milwaukee's 10-5 win over the Pirates.

Our View: Weeks has hits in each of his last five games, two of which were home runs. He is still striking out too much and he has just one stolen base on the season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 4/24, 11:04 PM CT
Rickie Weeks hit his third home run of the season in the Brewers' 5-2 win over the Reds on Friday. Weeks was 2-for-5 on the day.

Our View: Weeks is hitting .270 this season and has a serviceable average for the first time since 2006. If history has anything to say about it though, it will be much, much lower by season's end.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/22, 4:14 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Rickie Weeks will be in the lineup on Wednesday following a slight concussion suffered during a collision with J.J. Hardy on Tuesday.

Our View: This is somewhat surprising given how cautious team doctors have been regarding concussions over the past year or so. Regardless, Weeks is good to go and is safe to slide into your fantasy lineups.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/21, 8:18 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Rickie Weeks left Tuesday's game after colliding with J.J. Hardy on a play behind second base. Weeks complained of dizziness.

Our View: Hopefully he just got his bell rung and avoided a concussion. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow to determine his status.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/19, 4:14 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Mets.

Our View: Weeks is hitting .271, and he's shown some nice consistency to start the season. However, his 12-to-1 K/BB ratio is unsightly and could be a signal of another long season of poor plate discipline at the top of the Brewers lineup.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/15, 1:05 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is expected to return to the diamond for tonight's game against the Reds at Miller Park, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He was struck in the jaw by a Edinson Volquez pitch during Monday's game, but he feels fine and is ready to return to action. Weeks should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/14, 6:40 PM CT
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Rickie Weeks is recovering nicely from being struck in the jaw by a pitch on Monday night.

Our View: Manager Ken Macha said that he was planning on giving Weeks the day off today anyway, and the jaw injury just gave him an extra excuse. Weeks says he's sore, but could have played today if asked. Expect him to be in the lineup for the Brewers' next game.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/14, 4:32 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that Rickie Weeks is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Our View: Craig Counsell will take Weeks's place after Rickie was hit in the jaw in last night's game. He will be fine, but it is probably a little sore today, hence the day off.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/12, 10:52 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-5 while hitting leadoff for the Brewers in their 8-5 loss to the Cubs on Sunday. The second baseman hit a ninth inning solo home run off Kevin Gregg and scored three runs in the game.

Our View: Weeks was having another slow start prior to tonight. He had a terrific spring training and there's no doubt his owners would like for him to get hot again. Although he is hitting leadoff for the Brewers, he has only attempted one steal through six games this season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/30, 7:46 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored as the Brewers beat the Mariners 9-7 on Monday.

Our View: Weeks' spring batting average is up to .349 which certainly will appeal to his fantasy owners. However, he has never carried an attractive batting average throughout the course of a season, so don't get too carried away with this number. Also, Weeks has been caught stealing on three of his five attempts this spring.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/29, 7:54 PM CT
Rickie Weeks hit his third home run of the spring to give the Brewers a 1-0 win over the Giants on Sunday.

Our View: This may be a make-it-or-break-it season for Weeks, as far as fantasy owners are concerned. The 26-year-old has all the athletic ability in the world, but he is yet to hit above .280 in any one season and needs to begin putting up some numbers that match his talent level as he enters the prime stage of his career.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 3/7, 7:54 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 0-for-4 against the Cubs on Saturday with two strikeouts and left two runners on base.

Our View: Weeks is just 1-for-12 in spring training thus far, though he does have three walks compared to three strikeouts and has also been mysteriously hit by three pitches. He'll have to heat up before the season starts to have fantasy owners thinking he may finally be able to match his fine mix of power and speed with production on the field.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 2/17, 1:54 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is likely to bat leadoff under skipper Ken Macha, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Weeks can score 100 runs in the Brewers' potent lineup, and has 20/20 potential, but he needs to finally stay healthy to reach those figures. He is still worth targeting as a top-10 fantasy second baseman.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 2/3, 2:16 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers have avoided arbitration with second baseman Rickie Weeks by signing him to a one-year deal. The contract is reportedly worth $2.45 million, with an additional $750,000 available in incentives.

Our View: Weeks had demanded $2.8 million, while the Brewers countered with $2 million. Outfielder Corey Hart is now the lone Brewers player eligible for arbitration. His hearing is scheduled for the third week of February.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 1/31, 9:19 AM CT
Rickie Weeks and the Milwaukee Brewers have been slow to make progress on a new contract, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Weeks submitted a figure of $2.8 for arbitration, while the club gave a figure of $2 million. Weeks' arbitration hearing is not scheduled until late February.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 1/26, 9:15 AM CT
Rickie Weeks wants to avoid an arbitration hearing and is hoping to get a deal done with the Brewers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Weeks and the club are $800,000 apart.

Our View: The Brewers are willing to offer him a multi-year deal. Weeks has potential to break out, if he can just stay healthy.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 10/6, 12:08 PM CT
Rickie Weeks underwent surgery today to remove torn cartilage from his left knee, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The doctors said he had a "debridement" of the meniscus in that knee.

Our View: The procedure was performed by team physician William Raasch at Froedtert Medical Center. Weeks will begin therapy at home later in the week and is expected to be ready to go by spring training.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 10/5, 12:09 PM CT
Following up on an earlier report, Rickie Weeks is out of the NLDS with a torn meniscus in his left knee that will require surgery following the season, according to the AP.

Our View: Milwaukee still has not ruled him out for the World Series if they advance.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 10/5, 11:34 AM CT
Rickie Weeks has been removed from the Brewers' 25-man NLDS roster with a sprained left knee, the team's official website reports.

Our View: He has been replaced on the roster by top prospect Alcides Escobar. Ray Durham will start the remainder of the series at second base. Weeks is ineligible to return to the team until the World Series, should the Brewers advance.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 10/4, 7:14 PM CT
Rickie Weeks was forced to leave Saturday's critical Game 3 against Philadelphia in the fourth inning due to a sprained left knee, according to the AP. The Brewers trail the best-of-five series 2-0.

Our View: Weeks suffered the injury when he stepped awkwardly on first base trying to beat out a ground ball. We will keep you posted on his status.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 10/2, 2:11 PM CT
The Milwaukee Brewers will go with Ray Durham at second base in their game with the Phillies today instead of Rickie Weeks, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: The lineup has more to do with the fact that the Brewers are going with right-hander Brett Myers on the mound, but Weeks' error and two strikeouts probably made the decision pretty easy.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 9/30, 5:12 PM CT
Rickie Weeks will start and bat seventh in the Brewers lineup in Game 1 as the club will face lefty Cole Hamels, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Bill Hall will also start and bat second.

Our View: The Brewers will stick with the same game plan they have followed with two different lineups depending on who is pitching. When the club faces right-hander Brett Myers in Game 2, look for Ray Durham to replace Weeks at second base.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/26, 10:37 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Friday's 5-1 win over the Cubs.

Our View: Weeks has now homered in two of his last six games, and has 14 for the season, two away from tying his season-high.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 9/20, 6:45 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-3 with two RBI in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Reds. He hit a single, triple, and a solo homer, his 13th of the season.

Our View: He registered his first homer and RBI since September 2. He should remain reserved for the last week of the regular season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 9/20, 1:10 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is back in Milwaukee's lineup after receiving just two at-bats in the team's last six games, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Weeks has become the forgotten man in Milwaukee, as Ray Durham has taken over at second. He would likely be in the lineup today as well if not for a strained hamstring. Weeks has tremendous talent, but maybe he just can't get it done at this level. Fantasy owners should be wary of him, as usual.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 9/9, 7:34 PM CT
It was surprising to some that Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall were in the lineup Tuesday night against righty Ramon Ortiz. Ned Yost said that Weeks and Hall have not fared well against tomorrow's starter Bronson Arroyo and do not want to keep the two out of the lineup for the whole series against the Reds, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: It looks like Craig Counsell and Ray Durham will be in the lineup tomorrow against the Reds.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 9/2, 11:01 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 4-for-6 with a home run with two runs socred but the Brewers still lost to the Mets in extra innings, 6-5.

Our View: To show you how big this was for Weeks, just look at the fact that his batting average was raised six points, from .226 to .232. That rarely happens in September.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 9/1, 10:42 AM CT
The Brewers will start Rickie Weeks at second base and have him hit lead-off in their game today against Johan Santana and the New York Mets, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Although both Ray Durham and Weeks hit Santana well, Weeks has been better, going 4-for-5 with a triple, two home runs, and two walks off the lefty in his career. By all means, insert him in your fantasy lineup.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/29, 12:20 PM CT
The Milwaukee Brewers will face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates and pitcher Tom Gorzelanny Friday, which is generally bad news for Rickie Weeks. Weeks is just 1-for-16 in his career off the lefty.

Our View: Weeks has had a poor year and has not been playing well lately. He has collected a hit in just three of his last 19 at-bats. He can provide some stolen bases and pop to fantasy owners, but that average is hard to deal with.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/20, 1:14 PM CT
Rickie Weeks returned to the Brewers' lineup Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is battling a sprained left thumb.

Our View: Weeks is playing today, but should continue to be helped out by Ray Durham until his thumb is better.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 8/18, 4:49 PM CT
Rickie Weeks has said that he'll play through the thumb injury that he suffered Sunday, but he is not in Monday's starting lineup, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: Ray Durham is playing second despite the fact that the Astros are sending the left-handed Randy Wolf to the mound. We would expect Weeks and Durham to share playing time until Rickie's thumb is better.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 8/18, 11:29 AM CT
Rickie Weeks sprained his left thumb Sunday, but stated that he plans to fight through the injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He said, "It's just sore right now. It's just bruised. It has some pain to it."

Our View: Weeks has been hitting well as of late with hits in five of his last six games, but the injury could affect his swing and production, even though he feels he can play through it. Ray Durham would step in at second base if needed.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 8/17, 8:41 PM CT
Brewers second baseman and leadoff hitter Rickie Weeks left Sunday's game at Dodger Stadium with a sprained left thumb, the same digit that required surgery nearly three years ago, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Weeks suffered the injury during a fifth-inning strikeout in an eventual 7-5 loss to the Dodgers when he fouled off a pitch from Los Angeles lefty Clayton Kershaw. Weeks was replaced by Ray Durham in the bottom of the sixth, and Durham becomes the chief option should Weeks be sidelined. The veteran switch-hitter delivered a two-run single in Milwaukee's four-run ninth inning. The soreness is in a different area than the ligament he damaged late in the 2005 season, Weeks said. He required surgery for that ailment.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/9, 3:06 PM CT
Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks will not be in today's lineup when his team takes on Washington, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Seems like an odd time for Milwaukee manager Ned Yost to take Weeks out, as the second baseman is hitting .333 in August. He is 0-for-3 against Tim Redding, who will be pitching for the Nats, but that is hardly a large enough sample size to draw any conclusions from.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/6, 2:51 PM CT
Rickie Weeks was a key contributor in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Reds, as he went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI. All four of his knocks were singles.

Our View: He reached his highest hit total for the season, and registered multiple RBI for the seventh time.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/31, 4:27 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 1-for-4 and struck out three times as the Brewers were swept out of their home stadium by the Cubs.

Our View: For the month of July, Weeks had five more strikeouts (25) than he did hits (20). His time as the Brewers starting second baseman may soon come to an end, dropping his already low fantasy value down even further.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/29, 7:26 PM CT
Milwaukee second baseman Rickie Weeks is out of the lineup this evening, leading to further rumors of an end to his status as the starter at the position. However, manager Ned Yost assures reporters this is not the case, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Recently-acquired Ray Durham batted leadoff and played second base on Tuesday against Cubs right-hander Carlos Zambrano, a matchup that Brewers manager Ned Yost said he had envisioned for several days. Still, the switch was also notable because it was not clearly driven by the numbers. Weeks, a right-handed hitter, entered the night with a career .250 average (7-for-28) against Zambrano while Durham, a switch-hitter, was hitting .267 (5-for-15). This season, left-handed hitters were batting only three points higher against Zambrano than right-handers (.244 to .241). Yost has been a strong supporter of Weeks, who is hitting .224 with a .330 on-base percentage this season and leads the team with 66 runs scored. When the team traded two prospects to the Giants for Durham, Yost was clear that Weeks would remain the regular second baseman. So far that plan has held. Durham has started three of Milwaukee's nine games since the trade, including Tuesday's matchup against Zambrano and the Cubs.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/23, 10:32 PM CT
Rickie Weeks had three hits and an RBI on Wednesday night as he finished the game hitting .226 on the year for the Brewers.

Our View: Weeks has six hits in his last three games during which time he has knocked in five runs as he tries to avoid losing playing time to newly acquired second baseman Ray Durham.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/21, 9:58 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs, three RBI, and a walk on Monday against the Cardinals.

Our View: Weeks didn't have a three-RBI game this season prior to Monday, and he had gone deep only once since May 22. Do you think he noticed the Ray Durham trade? Maybe that move will spur Rickie to finally lock in at the plate.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/21, 4:59 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is starting at second base in Monday's game against the Cardinals and right-hander Joel Pineiro, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirms.

Our View: It'll be interesting to see how manager Ned Yost eventually works Ray Durham into the mix. Durham is hitting .318 with a .843 OPS against righties, while Weeks is at .201 and .648 in those situations.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/21, 1:57 PM CT
Manager Ned Yost defended Rickie Weeks as his starting second baseman following the acquisition of Ray Durham from the Giants, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Yost said, "Rickie's doing fine. I'll play Ray a couple of days a week, maybe. We'll just see how it goes. I'm not setting anything in stone. We'll take it day by day. Veteran, quality depth is what it gives us."

Our View: Weeks has been struggling with a .216 average, but Yost insists that Durham was added namely for depth and a solid bat off the bench, rather than a replacement for Weeks. So while Weeks will likely play less every week with starts given to Durham, the vet isn't a threat to replace Weeks as the regular starter at second.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/11, 2:46 PM CT
Rickie Weeks has been struggling, but will remain in the leadoff spot in the order, according to Brewers.com. Manager Ned Yost said, "I've seen Rickie when he's good. He's a guy that can be a real igniter at the top of that lineup. He caught fire late last year and did a nice job. There could be a lot of offensive production at the top of that lineup when Rickie gets going."

Our View: Weeks is only hitting .218, but scored 57 runs, and should continue to be productive in that category while hitting at the top of the Brewers' potent lineup that features Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. Seven of his runs were scored over his last four games.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/10, 4:27 PM CT
Rickie Weeks had two hits, scored two runs, knocked in his 24th run of the year and stole his 12th base.

Our View: Weeks continues to struggle in with his batting average (.218), but he has seven hits in his last four games, so perhaps he is finally ready to raise his average to a respectable level.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/25, 2:58 PM CT
Rickie Weeks has played well in the four games since his return from the DL. He is 5-for-15 with two doubles and a triple. There should be no concerns about his sprained left knee.

Our View: Perhaps more importantly, the free-swinger has just one strikeout in that stretch.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/22, 2:11 PM CT
Milwaukee second baseman Rickie Weeks is back in the lineup for the Brewers today, activated from the disabled list this morning after missing two weeks with a sprained left knee, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Manager Ned Yost was cautious in bringing Weeks back, having been on the DL since June 7th and spending the last 15 days rehabbing his knee through strength-building exercises and baseball-related activities. Weeks showed no ill effects fielding his position in the top of the first inning on Sunday and hit a long fly ball for an out in his first at-bat.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 6/21, 5:43 PM CT
Rickie Weeks passed all of his workout test with flying colors Saturday and is expected to be activated before Sunday's game, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Weeks is coming back from a sprained left knee. "I'm ready," said Weeks. "The knee feels good."

Our View: Hernan Iribarren will be returned to Nashville to make room on the roster.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 6/20, 6:13 PM CT
Rickie Weeks (knee) took ground balls before the Brewers game on Friday and there is a growing belief that he will be ready to be activated from the DL on Sunday when eligible, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: This is tremendous news for Weeks' owners since the belief was the he would likely miss at least three weeks with the injury. Monitor his movement when he's activated as a lot of his value is generated by those legs.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 6/17, 5:47 PM CT
Rickie Weeks said that his sprained left knee is improving, though his work today was limited to taking ground balls, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Manager Ned Yost said Weeks may not be ready to return from the DL on Sunday when he's eligible, but that it shouldn't be long after that.

Our View: We'll let you know how Weeks fares in his workouts over the next few days. It sounds like he should be back to action sometime next week.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 6/9, 4:49 PM CT
The Brewers placed Rickie Weeks on the DL Monday with a sprained left knee. Hernan Iribarren was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to replace him on the roster.

Our View: It's not clear at this point as to the severity of the injury. The team had been saying Weeks was just day-to-day, which would lead you to believe it's not too serious, but we'll let you know for sure when more info is available.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 6/9, 3:08 PM CT
It has been revealed that Rickie Weeks has a sprained left knee, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: Weeks is listed as day-to-day and the team did not indicate whether a trip to the DL is being considered.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 6/7, 3:58 PM CT
Rickie Weeks will ride the pine tonight against Colorado, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Craig Counsell gets the start at second base, and is going to bat leadoff.

Our View: Weeks holds a four-game hitting streak, but hasn't hit a homer since May 22, and only has one RBI over his last seven outings. He could use a day off.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 6/5, 5:18 PM CT
Jemile Weeks, brother of Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks, was drafted 12th overall by the A's in the 2008 MLB Entry Draft, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Jemile was a dynamo for the Miami Hurricanes hitting .366-11-57 with 19 SB and a .447 OBP in his final college season. The A's hope he will develop into a 20/20 threat like his brother though he is a bit small at 5'9", 180 lbs.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/1, 11:04 AM CT
The Brewers lineup has a "backup" feel on Sunday. Manager Ned Yost is starting Joe Dillon at second base, Gabe Kapler in center, Mike Rivera behind the plate, and Craig Counsell at shortstop, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel notes. They are replacing regular starters Rickie Weeks, Mike Cameron, Jason Kendall, and J.J. Hardy.

Our View: Fantasy owners looking to set a Sunday lineup will want to note these changes. All of the regulars are simply getting a day off.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/28, 9:44 PM CT
The Brewers struggled for offense, but they made the best of the three hits they found against Atlanta to emerge with a 1-0 victory. That one run was driven in by leadoff man Rickie Weeks , going 2-for-4 with his second triple of the season, hit in the eighth inning of a scoreless tie.

Our View: The run proved to be the game winner and could boost the struggling Weeks, batting just .208 thus far this season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/22, 9:36 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went deep on Thursday hitting his sixth home run for the Brewers. The run he scored on the long ball was his 38th of the year.

Our View: If you don't look at his batting average, Weeks would have some pretty solid production this year. He continues to get on base at a decent clip in relation to his batting average with a .340 OBP, but he just isn't having any luck at the plate with a .222 BABIP.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/14, 3:35 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is getting the day off on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Craig Counsell is starting in his place.

Our View: Maybe a day of rest will help Weeks get that average back above .200. We're all pulling for you, Rickie.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/8, 7:28 PM CT
Despite a batting average under .200, Rickie Weeks will continue to remain the Brewers leadoff hitter, according to MLB.com. "We don't have a ton of leadoff-type guys, but we do have some guys with on-base percentages at .360 or better," manager Ned Yost said. "You could move some of those guys up to the top of the lineup. We're not there yet."

Our View: Weeks is sporting a .320 OBP which isn't too bad considering his poor average, and he has scored 29 runs in 33 games. Perhaps the team might consider Corey Hart in the spot, but Weeks is really better suited to the leadoff role if he can just pick up his hitting a bit.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/7, 9:39 PM CT
The Brewers failed to post a single player capable of posting multiple hits in this evening's loss to the Florida Marlins, 6-2, leaving leadoff man 2B Rickie Weeks as the lone player of note. Weeks went 1-for-4, hitting his 5th home run of the season to total two RBIs.

Our View: Weeks has struggled mightily, now hitting just .194 on the season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/3, 10:15 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 1-for-4 with one RBI and collected his fourth homer of the season in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Houston.

Our View: Weeks is only hitting .197 with nine RBI over 30 games, but has scored 26 runs.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/30, 11:12 PM CT
Rickie Weeks had two hits and scored another three runs on Wednesday night for the Brew Crew.

Our View: How does a guy scored 24 runs in 27 games when Ryan Braun is hitting .273 and Prince Fielder is hitting .250? Hell, Weeks is only hitting .202, so you can just imagine what could happen if all three improve their work at the plate to where history says it should be.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/22, 4:42 PM CT
Rickie Weeks had a productive afternoon on Tuesday. He went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs, three RBI, a walk, and a steal against the Cardinals. Weeks is doing a good job of scoring runs (18), but he is batting only .192 thus far.

Our View: Weeks continues to be a frustrating talent for fantasy owners to monitor. He has all the skills in the world, but the 25-year-old second baseman hasn't quite been able to put everything together.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/13, 4:33 PM CT
Rickie Weeks did a little bit of everything on Sunday against the Mets. He hit a solo homer, walked once, stole a base, and scored three runs. All in all, not too shabby for a 1-for-4 day.

Our View: You know the story by now. Weeks has the talent to be a serious fantasy baseball contributor, but it's all about steering clear of injuries and figuring out how to hit for a decent average.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 4/4, 1:47 PM CT
Rickie Weeks scored in the first inning on Friday. It's the 17th straight game with a run, which is a new franchise record. Fantasy owners are simply happy that Weeks has played in 17 consecutive games without suffering an injury.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/2, 5:07 PM CT
Rickie Weeks went 1-for-6 while leaving seven runners on base on Monday, but he also hit a home run in the Brewers victory over the Cubs. Weeks, who with health figures to be a top-10 second baseman this season, could be a poor man's Alfonso Soriano this season with the potential to change a game with his power, or speed, from the top of the lineup.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/23, 7:22 PM CT
Rickie Weeks returned to the spring starting lineup on Sunday and went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer. Weeks had missed the last week of spring work and after spending Saturday on a minor league assignment return to camp claiming his injured right hand was healthy. Weeks was struggling this spring with half of his at-bats resulting in strikeouts.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 3/21, 10:07 AM CT
Rickie Weeks has missed three straight games with a sore right hand, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Manager Ned Yost said he expects his second baseman back in the lineup Sunday. This doesn't sound like anything to worry about, as long as Weeks does come back this weekend.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 3/19, 9:53 AM CT
Rickie Weeks was once again unavailable for action on Tuesday due to a sprained right hand, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. Weeks suffered the injury on Sunday and is day-to-day.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 2/10, 12:02 PM CT
Rickie Weeks is a prime breakout candidate in 2008, just ask manager Ned Yost. "I consider it almost a done deal," said Yost. You saw what he can do in August and September last year. It was unbelievable, the difference in how he swung the bat [after finally getting healthy]." Weeks will bat leadoff for the Brewers and after hitting .273-11-17-44-15 over his final 43 games, Weeks is certainly in line to be a big-time performer this season. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 1/16, 10:42 AM CT
Rickie Weeks feels like he's finally fully recovered from his wrist injury. He had surgery on the wrist in August of 2006, and it bothered him throughout the 2007 season, but Weeks thinks he's now completely healthy. "I think it's pretty much good to go right now," Weeks told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I've been able to do everything I need to do this winter. I'm working out, staying in shape, getting ready for spring training. I feel I can do more now than in the past. (Going through physical therapy) wears on you a little bit mentally. You want to go to spring training injury-free and work on some things you couldn't do in the past."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/21, 5:29 AM CT
Rickie Weeks had a home run and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to Atlanta. He's been very productive since rejoining the Brewers last month, hitting .278 with 29 runs, six homers and 12 steals over 32 games. He's also walked 28 times over that span, and for the year he's 22-for-24 on the basepaths. Weeks still has time on his side (he turned 25 this month), so look for him on a lot of breakthrough lists next season.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/10, 10:14 AM CT
The Brewers recalled Rickie Weeks from Triple-A on Thursday to replace the injured Tony Graffanino on the roster. Weeks was hitting .455 (10-for-22) since being sent to Triple-A, which is encouraging, although it's possible that his wrist could still be an issue for the rest of the year.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/7, 10:33 AM CT
Rickie Weeks is off to a fast start at Triple-A Nashville, picking up seven hits in his first 15 at-bats. Manager Ned Yost hasn't given any thought yet to whether that would mean a quick recall back to the majors for the second baseman who was demoted after hitting .212 in 259 at-bats. "Rickie's doing a nice job down there," Yost said in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's doing exactly what we want him to do. We just want him to keep doing it."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/1, 9:52 AM CT

Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/19, 12:34 AM CT
Rickie Weeks went 0-for-4 Wednesday and is now in a 2-for-31 slump. Ned Yost said earlier in the week that Tony Graffanino and Craig Counsell will also see playing time at second base.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/18, 2:18 AM CT
The slumping Rickie Weeks was held out of Tuesday's lineup, though GM Doug Melvin said there is no plan to send Weeks to the minors to get straightened out, the Brewers official site reports. Tony Graffanino started Tuesday, and for now Ned Yost plans to divide starts at second base between Graffanino, Craig Counsell and Weeks. "It's tough, but we're in a stage where production really matters," Yost said. "We're not in the business of developing right now. It's the second half of the season, we've got a job to do and I've got to put the most productive players on the field that I can . . . Rickie is still going to get his opportunities to play and get himself out of it, and I explained that to him. But it's been a real, real struggle for Rick." Weeks is batting just .148 since coming off the disabled list on June 18.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/8, 6:42 AM CT
Rickie Weeks went 0-for-2 with a walk Saturday, dropping him into a 2-for-37 slump. "Rickie has no luck," Ned Yost told the AP.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/3, 10:25 AM CT
The Brewers gave Rickie Weeks a night off on Monday. He is 7-for-36 (.194) since coming off the disabled list. "He's not letting the ball come to him," hitting coach Jim Skaalen tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's a little quick going forward. We're trying to get him to forget the pull side of the field completely. (After the wrist injury) he's still concerned about getting beat on the fastball." Weeks has missed time in each of the past two campaigns due to right wrist ailments. He also dealt with a thumb injury in 2005.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 6/18, 4:54 PM CT
The Brewers activated Rickie Weeks from the disabled list on Monday. He had been sidelined since June 1 with tendinitis in his right wrist, according to the AP. Weeks should be back in the starting lineup tonight, but it is worth noting that Weeks is expected to deal with wrist issues for the rest of the season, so there's still quite a bit of risk here.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/17, 8:32 AM CT
Rickie Weeks got through a simulated game Saturday without any problems. The Brewers plan to activate him from the disabled list on Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Weeks has been out with a sore right wrist, but it's safe to put him back into your active lineup for next week.

"After those four days off, I really wanted to get back to the game and help the team any way possible," said Weeks. "I can't stand to be away from the game for a long period of time, and all the frustration just built up."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/21, 10:02 AM CT
Rickie Weeks expects to be in the lineup on Monday. He has missed the last four games due to soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist. "It's just scar tissue trying to break up," Weeks tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I think it's helped. The main thing is to come back, and I'll be ready to go tomorrow."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/19, 8:27 AM CT
Rickie Weeks has missed the past two games because his surgically repaired right wrist is bothering him. He's been advised to rest the joint a little longer, too, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Constitution. "It's just scar tissue, that's all," said Weeks. "(Team physician William Raasch) said in a few days it should be all right. They just want it to calm down. It's been bothering me some. It's frustrating but it's still early in the season. We've still got a lot of games left. It'll be all right in a couple of days." Weeks has just four hits in his last 27 at-bats, so it seems the sore wrist has been bothering his swing. Hopefully, a little rest will clear up the problem. Keep him benched today.

Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 2/28, 9:20 AM CT

Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 2/21, 9:37 AM CT
An examination of Rickie Weeks' surgically repaired wrist revealed no structural damage, and the doctor that performed the surgery stated that the soreness Weeks is feeling is normal for this stage of recovery, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "The doctor just wanted to knock out the residual soreness," assistant general manager Gord Ash said. "The X-rays were normal. It's just part of what you have to go through. So, actually, the news was quite good." Weeks received a cortisone injection and will be held out of hitting drills for a few days.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 2/19, 9:18 AM CT
Rickie Weeks had some soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist while swinging a bat recently, so he won't swing again until he sees a specialist, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We want him to see the operating surgeon before he progresses to live hitting," GM Gord Ash said. "He is experiencing a little bit of pain and soreness and we want to make sure it's nothing serious. We don't think it is. Any time a player is coming off surgery, you want to take it slow. We don't consider it a red flag."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 10/3, 9:03 AM CT
Despite speculation that he may be converted to an outfielder, Rickie Weeks will remain at second base, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/9, 8:32 PM CT

Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/5, 8:41 AM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Rickie Weeks hit balls off a tee yesterday. However, he experienced more pain in his injured right wrist and had to stop after just a few cuts. It's possible that his season may be over. "It didn't go too good," manager Ned Yost said. "It's still hurting. We'll give it a little more time. We're trying to figure it out. We're not ready to give up on it yet."
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/1, 11:05 PM CT
Rickie Weeks, on the DL with an injured tendon in his right wrist, will start hitting off a tee Friday, according to the AP. "We want to see where he's at," manager Ned Yost said. "He's already taking ground balls." There has been some talk that Weeks could be sidelined for the rest of the year, but that doesn't appear likely at this point.
Rickie Weeks, 2B, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/30, 11:16 AM CT
Rickie Weeks, placed on the DL Saturday with an injured tendon in his right wrist, could be sidelined for the rest of the season, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "That's a possibility," said general manager Doug Melvin when asked if Weeks had played his last game for the Brewers this year. "We're going to wait 10 days or so to see if it can heal enough and he can tolerate it." Surgery to repair the wrist would result in a recovery period of six to eight weeks, so Weeks could wait until after the season to have the procedure. Tony Graffanino should continue to fill in at second while Weeks is out.
