Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/3, 2:44 PM CT
Ryan Shealy has been outrighted to Triple-A Omaha by the Royals, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He was hitting .262 with four homers in spring action, but did not have room for him on the roster. He hit .301 with seven homers over 73 at-bats last season, and it is a shame he will have to start the season in the minors.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 3/29, 11:35 PM CT
Ryan Shealy cracked his fourth homer of the spring Sunday versus the Mariners in a 17-12 Royals' win.

Our View: With the likes of Mike Jacobs, Russ Gload, and Billy Butler all vying for some time at first, Shealy will probably end up manning the DH role for most of the season. Not helping Shealy's cause any is the fact he's never played in more than 56 games in any one season.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 2/27, 8:26 PM CT
Ryan Shealy started at first base and hit 1-for-2 as the Royals beat the Giants 6-1 on Friday. He had a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View: Shealy is in a crowded competition for first base in Kansas City. His shot at landing the job will have everything to do with his performance this spring, as well as the performances of Mike Jacob, Billy Butler, Ross Gload, and Kila Ka'Aihue
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/30, 8:46 PM CT
Ryan Shealy was named Kansas City's player of the month of September, according to the Royals Official Website. In 20 games on the month Shealy hit .301 with seven home runs and 20 RBI.

Our View: Shealy has long tantalized with his talent at the plate, but he has never been able to earn a full-time role at the major league level. At this point, it is pretty doubtful he ever will.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/28, 3:02 PM CT
Ryan Shealy left Sunday's game due to apparent hamstring tightness, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He went 0-for-1 against Minnesota prior to leaving.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/28, 12:37 PM CT
Ryan Shealy has 20 RBI over 19 games since his September 2 call-up from Triple-A Omaha, according to the KC Star.

Our View: Shealy has finished strong in his bid for the starting gig at first base in 2009. He will be pushed by top prospect Kila Ka'aihue.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/14, 3:37 PM CT
Shealy had a huge game for the Royals on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs. He is now 7-for-10 with three homers in his last two games.

Our View: He has had a very disappointing season for fantasy owners, but Shealy is still trying to stake his claim for the first base job next season. That will be difficult to do with top prospect Kila Ka'aihue competing for the job.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/4, 4:09 PM CT
Even though Ryan Shealy is battling for at-bats with fellow rookie Kila Ka'aihue he is grateful the Royals are giving him a shot. Shealy homered on Tuesday night against the A's. according to Royals.com.

Our View: Shealy homered against the A's but he has not fantasy value for any type of fantasy league.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 9/1, 6:19 PM CT
Ryan Shealy was one of the many Royals called up to the bigs on September 1st as major league rosters expanded, according to the Kansas City Star. Other Royals called up include Yasuhiko Yabuta, Devon Lowery and Kila Kaaihue.

Our View: Shealy, once a top-flight prospect with a bright future, hit .282-22-65 in 111 game at Triple-A this season. He is out of options at the end of this year meaning that the Royals will need to keep him on the roster next season or release him. He will likely have to battle Kaaihue for at-bats down the stretch.

Ryan Shealy collected his eighth home run in Triple-A Omaha's 4-1 loss at Sacramento on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Shealy is only hitting .213, but has 13 RBI.

Our View: Shealy is displaying good power in Triple-A, but with Billy Butler, Ross Gload, and Mark Teahen firmly set on the Royals' roster, Shealy has a limited shot to get called up, unless one of them gets hurt.

Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 3/6, 8:53 PM CT
Ryan Shealy homered for the second straight game on Thursday as he attempts to work his way back into the Royals' plans this season. Shealy hit .280-7-36 in 193 AB for the Royals in 2006 before slumping to .221-3-21 in 172 AB last season. Given the fact that Ross Gload and Justin Huber are also around, Shealy will have to prove himself with a solid spring to break camp with the club.

Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 2/17, 4:33 PM CT
Ryan Shealy used the off-season this year to implement a new "old" stance in his attempt to overcome an extremely disappointing 2007 season filled with injury according to MLB.com. "I tried to eliminate my stride. I tried to spread out, kind of like [Albert] Pujols does a little bit. I found that I couldn't let the ball get there. Offspeed [stuff] was just eating me up." Shealy is in an uphill battle for playing time at 1B with Billy Butler, Ross Gload and even Mark Teahan likely to see time there rendering Shealy as nothing more than a speculative play in AL Only leagues at the moment.

Ryan Shealy is coming off a hugely disappointing, injury-plagued season in which he hit just .221 with three homers and 21 RBI in 52 games, but the Royals aren't giving up on him yet, according to the Kansas City Star. “I was just talking with (hitting coach) Mike Barnett about Ryan the other day,” Royals GM Dayton Moore said. “And he reports that Ryan is in great shape, and he looks good swinging the bat. We still believe that Ryan can be a valuable part of this team. Last year you can just throw out. He had the hamstring problems, the broken bone in his foot. He was never himself. You can’t make any judgments off that season.” Shealy will have to battle Ross Gload, a career .294 hitter, for at-bats at first base in KC this season.
Ryan Shealy, 1B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/30, 9:47 PM CT
The Royals recalled Ryan Shealy from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. Unfortunately, it was just a paperwork move, as they immediately placed him on the 60-day disabled list, formally ending his season in the process. Many had hoped that Shealy would break out this year, but a bum hamstring and a .221 batting average nixed that notion.
