Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/8, 4:19 PM CT
The Royals are interested in Felix Pie, according to Bob Dutton's twitter page.

Our View: Pie would fill the Royals' need for a center fielder, but are having difficulty agreeing on a deal with a Baltimore.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/29, 11:25 AM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that outfielder Felix Pie could miss the remainder of the season due to tightness in his hamstring.

Our View: Pie has missed the last three games. He hasn't done much this season with a batting line .266/.326/.437 and 29 RBI.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/26, 6:16 PM CT
According to MASN.com, injured outfielder Felix Pie could return to the lineup next week.

Our View: Pie injured his hamstring in the seventh inning of Friday's game while trying to beat out a double play ball. The injury was originally thought to be more serious, but it looks like Pie will just need a few more days of rest. He's hitting .304 in his last 33 games.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 9/25, 8:19 PM CT
Felix Pie exited tonight's game against the Indians in the seventh inning with a left leg injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Pie clutched his upper leg after crossing first base on a double play, and fell to the ground in agony. He was assisted off the diamond after staying down for a couple of minutes. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/21, 9:21 PM CT
Felix Pie was productive in tonight's 9-2 loss at Toronto, as he went 1-for-3 with a single and two RBI.

Our View: The Orioles only had six hits, and Pie was their lone source of scoring. He was in need of a solid performance, as he only notched one RBI over his previous seven games.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/19, 9:52 PM CT
Felix Pie went 3-for-4 and hit his ninth homer of the season in an 11-5 loss at the hands of the Red Sox on Saturday.

Our View: Pie was hitting just .182 this month with one home run and two RBI before his bat woke up on Saturday. Unfortunately, he seems destined to be outdone by his own hype and has yet to live up to his potential.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/30, 5:02 PM CT
Felix Pie went 1-for-3 and cracked a two-run homer against the Indians on Sunday.

Our View: Pie has seen regular playing time in August and has made the most of it. He's hitting .333 with five homers and 13 RBI this month and three of his long balls have come in the last four games. Maybe he's finally putting together a stretch that mirrors his potential.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/30, 9:28 AM CT
Felix Pie was available on Saturday, but he did not play for precautionary reasons, according to MLB.com. Pie has been dealing with an injured hamstrng.

Our View: Pie filled in nicely while center fielder Adam Jones was out, but now that Jones is back Pie will move back to his utility role. The team hasn't indicated if he will be in the lineup on Sunday, but if his hammy is still tight he will likely sit.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/29, 9:14 AM CT
Felix Pie is dealing with a sore hamstring, according to the Baltimore Sun. He suffered the injury while slipping on wet grass in center field.

Our View: Pie has been performing very well while filling in for injured All-Star Adam Jones. Pie expects to be OK, but the Orioles are yet to update his status.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/26, 10:31 PM CT
Felix Pie went 1-for-2 with a solo homer off Nick Blackburn in tonight's 5-1 win at Minnesota. He also drew two walks and scored two runs.

Our View: Pie did a good job tonight while replacing injured All-Star Adam Jones (sore back) in center field. Three of his five homers for 2009 were hit this month.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/14, 9:39 PM CT
Felix Pie hit for the cycle in tonight's 16-6 win over the Angels at Camden Yards. He went 4-for-5 with four RBI, and his homer was a solo shot off Jered Weaver.

Our View: Pie hit for the cycle for the first time in 2009, and was only hitting .188 over 16 brief at-bats this month heading into tonight's game. He started in left field as Nolan Reimold worked in the DH role in place of Luke Scott.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/8, 8:02 AM CT
According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles are fielding trade offers for oufielder Felix Pie and infielder Oscar Salazar. The team will need a roster spot for the soon-to-be-activated Caesar Izturis, and both players are out of options.

Our View: Since either player would likely get pick up on waivers, the O's will try to get something for one of them through a trade. Pie seems a more likely trade candidate, as he has some tools that teams could find appealing and the O's have a good deal of depth in the outfield.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/7, 7:05 AM CT
Felix Pie exited Saturday's battle with Oakland after hitting a foul ball that bounced off the dirt and struck him in the throat, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Nolan Reimold replaced him in the outfield. It is yet to be determined if Pie will need to miss more time with the ailment.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 6/3, 12:16 PM CT
Orioles team president Andy MacPhail says that despite Felix Pie's struggles, the team is not considering sending him down to the minor leagues because he would have to clear waivers MASN.com is reporting.

Our View: Pie has struggled mightily this season, batting only .215 with a .278 on-base percentage. And with Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, Luke Scott and Nolan Reimold all ahead of him in the Orioles outfield, he should struggle for at-bats as well. In spite of all of his talent, under no circumstances, save for the deepest of keeper leagues, should he be on your team.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/13, 6:58 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Felix Pie is out of Wednesday's lineup due to a stomach illness.

Our View: Pie left Tuesday's game with the stomach problem and after initially thinking he would be fine for today's game, his condition worsened. He has been sent to the hospital for tests and will be reevaluated. The specifics of the illness are currently unknown.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/2, 2:23 PM CT
Felix Pie's grip on the left field job is slipping. The Orioles haven't given up on Pie, but manager Dave Trembley wants to five more time to Lou Montanez. "I don't think you grade Pie after 54 or 55 at-bats or whatever he's had, but competition is a healthy thing," Trembley tells the Baltimore Sun. "Right now, I'm just trying to find the right combination to see if we can get on track and win some games."

Our View: Fantasy owners can't be surprised by this news. Pie is hitting a meager .157. Montanez brings more pop, and the Orioles are confident his bat will come around. Mixed leagues owners should avoid this left field situation.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/17, 5:37 PM CT
Felix Pie will not be in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, according to the Baltimore Sun. Ryan Freel will get the start in left.

Our View: Pie is only hitting .217 so far in 2009, but he is a plus defender which keeps him in the lineup. He can steal a base and score some runs every once in a while, but his fantasy value is limited at best.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/13, 10:56 PM CT
Felix Pie went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI as the Orioles beat the Rangers 10-9 on Monday.

Our View: This was easily his best game since joining the Orioles in the offseason. His defense keeps him in the lineup, but if he figures out a way to get on base more and use his speed, he could still fulfill his fantasy potential.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/11, 8:52 AM CT
Felix Pie had two of the Orioles' seven hits Thursday and both of those hits went to left-center field, according to the Baltimore Sun. The outfielder has been concentrating on hitting the ball to the opposite field, and it appears to be working. "I'm working on making my swing a little shorter, work the other way and don't pull it," Pie said. "I've worked all spring training with the hitting coach, Crow. Stay and wait for the ball."

Our View: Pie has been taking early batting practice every day and appears dedicated to ridding himself of the pull-happy tag. He has all five tools and could be a fantasy force if he puts it all together.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/8, 1:30 PM CT
Felix Pie is expected to start tonight's game against the Yankees at Camden Yards, according to MASN Sports. He will roam in left field.

Our View: Pie should see enough playing time this season to be worth a look for AL-only leagues, but he holds a .223 average over 260 career at-bats in the majors.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/26, 3:32 PM CT
Orioles outfielder Felix Pie got one hit in his three at-bats in Baltimore's 11-6 loss to the Marlins, and he is now hitting .195 for the spring.

Our View: It's been a rough spring at the plate for Pie. His defensive acumen is not in question, but he'll need to start hitting soon if he wants to accumulate at-bats in Baltimore once the season gets underway. Getting his batting average over .200 would be a good start.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/14, 3:23 PM CT
Felix Pie went 2-for-2 with three RBI in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Red Sox in the Grapefruit League. He hit a single and a two-run homer, his first of the spring.

Our View: This was a good outing, but he is still behind in his bid to win a starting job in the Orioles' outfield.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/7, 3:42 PM CT
Felix Pie went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the Orioles fell to the Marlins 3-2 on Saturday.

Our View: Pie is now 3-for-11 this spring with three singles, no steals, and one caught stealing. He'll need to do better if he believes he can be a starter in Baltimore.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 2/27, 4:32 PM CT
Felix Pie had an eventful day against Florida on Friday, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an outfield assist but also striking out once, getting caught stealing and committing an error in center field.

Our View: Pie is a former top-prospect turned bust from the Cubs' organization whom the Orioles acquired this offseason. With Nick Markakis in right and Adam Jones in center, Pie's best chance for playing time probably comes in left where Luke Scott is currently tabbed as the starter. Pie certainly has the tools to win the job at some point over the course of the year, but he'll have to provide more consistency.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 2/23, 8:20 PM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that outfielder Felix Pie has managed to clear up the problems with his visa and he is expected to report to Orioles camp on Tuesday.

Our View: Pie will have to impress this spring to land even the fourth outfielder spot in Baltimore. The 24-year-old has some nice tools, unfortunately making contact is not one of them.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 2/23, 2:30 PM CT
Felix Pie is yet to report to Orioles' camp due to visa issues in the Dominican Republic, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The club is hopeful the problem will be resolved in the next day or so. Pie is yet to prove he can be a good hitter in the majors, and will be fighting for a roster spot in a crowded Orioles' outfield upon his arrival, meaning he should be left for deeper AL-only leagues.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 1/18, 1:28 PM CT
Fox Sports reports that the Cubs have traded outfielder Felix Pie has been traded to the Orioles for Garrett Olson and Single-A right-hander Henry Williamson.

Our View: Pie enters another crowded outfield in Baltimore and while he should make the Major League roster, he will have to battle for a starting job. Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, and Luke Scott still would likely be their starting outfield barring injury. Pie is a career .223 hitter in the majors.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 1/14, 5:07 PM CT
The Daily Herald reports that outfielder Felix Pie is likely to be dealt before Opening Day. One of the main reasons cited is that the outfielder is out of minor-league options.

Our View: Pie plays good defense and has good speed, but he has not shown much ability to get on base. Regardless, there figures to be a number of teams interested in the center fielder.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/17, 8:14 AM CT
Once-promising Cubs outfielder Felix Pie will likely be moved at some point in the offseason, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: The team just signed speedster Joey Gathright to a contract, so there is scant room for Pie, who was once considered a top prospect, but has not shown enough offensive ability in his time with the Cubs.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 11/29, 8:21 PM CT
Felix Pie could be headed to the Orioles as part of the Jake Peavy deal which would involve Baltimore, Chicago, and San Diego according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Pie hit under .250 last year in just 43 games with the Cubs. Pie has a lot of potential and has been a top prospect of the Cubs for years, but they keep bringing in more players that move ahead of him on the depth chart. Perhaps in Baltimore, he could get more of a chance to see everyday play.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 10/1, 10:10 AM CT
The Cubs have reportedly selected Felix Pie over Micah Hoffpauir for the postseason roster in the opening round against the Dodgers, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: An official announcement regarding the roster is expected this morning. Pie provides solid speed off the bench and would help defensively in the outfield with Mark DeRosa dealing with a calf strain.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/23, 9:19 AM CT
Felix Pie is battling Micah Hoffpauir for a spot on the playoff roster when the team likely drops a pitcher, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Casey McGehee is also said to be in the mix.

Our View: Pie could hold an edge, as he was on the Cubs' postseason roster in 2007, and provides speed and defense off the bench.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/9, 5:35 PM CT
Felix Pie has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa and will join the Cubs in St. Louis, according to Sportsnetwork.com.

Our View: Even though Pie has been recalled to the big leagues he will have no fantasy value for any team.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/3, 9:20 AM CT
Felix Pie has returned to Triple-A Iowa after rehabbing his injured hand, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was 2-for-4 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored in his first game back.

Our View: With Soriano still recovering from a broken hand, it is not unfathomable for Pie to get called up soon, especially if he stays hot.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/6, 9:14 AM CT
Felix Pie could potentially get sent down to the minors, according to the Arlington Daily Herald. Lou Piniella wouldn't reveal how long the Cubs would work with Pie on his hitting at the major-league level, but when asked if Pie could get sent down to Triple-A to work on his game, Piniella said, "Nothing's indefinitely. We'll just leave it at nothing's indefinitely."

Our View: Pie is only hitting .231 over 52 at-bats, with 18 strikeouts. The Cubs have Reed Johnson ready to play every day in the outfield, and the team could afford to send Pie down. Pie isn't helping fantasy teams right now either, so a demotion wouldn't hurt.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/24, 7:20 PM CT
Felix Pie was the only Cub batter who had more than one hit on Thursday as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI against the Rockies.

Our View: Pie is still hitting just .237 and with 12 K and just one BB, and he is still searching for his legs at the major league level. At this point, he just doesn't excite us at all in terms of his fantasy potential this season, especially with Reed Johnson hitting so well.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/9, 11:58 PM CT
Felix Pie's two-run single in the top of the 15th inning allowed Chicago to somehow outlast the fiery Pirates on Wednesday night. Chicago beat Pittsburgh 10-8 in 12 innings in the previous game Monday, meaning they have played 27 innings in two games. Pie, who appears to have lost his starting gig to Reed Johnson, came off the bench to lead the Cubs in Wednesday win.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/6, 1:16 PM CT
Felix Pie sat out another game on Sunday, likely due to his sore right hand. Reed Johnson will once again fill his spot in the starting lineup.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/6, 7:02 AM CT
Felix Pie was benched in favor of Reed Johnson on Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Manager Piniella wanted to experiment with the lineup so he moved Johnson up to the number two spot in the batting order, and moved Ryan Theriot down to eighth. Piniella stated, "Your bench has to help you at times win baseball games and the only way to do that is by getting a chance to play. If they sit too long, they lose their sharpness." Johnson played well as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI in a 9-7 win over Houston.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/4, 3:54 PM CT
Felix Pie started on Friday despite a bruised right hand/wrist. He went 0-for-4 against the Astros. Maybe he should have taken a day off, huh?
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/4, 8:53 AM CT
Felix Pie bruised his hand/wrist when he was hit by a pitch on Thursday. He stayed in the game and didn't need X-rays, but Reed Johnson may start in his place on Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times notes.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/26, 6:19 PM CT
Felix Pie enjoyed one of his best outings of the spring against the Angels on Wednesday as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and two stolen bases. He displayed his solid speed today, but could remain at the bottom of the batting order with Theriot and Soriano unlikely to drop.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/24, 8:15 PM CT
Felix Pie went 3-for-3 on Monday with two runs scored from the eight spot in the Cubs batting order. Pie just may hit enough to maintain a spot in the Cubs lineup, but if he continues to hit at the bottom of the order, and there is no reason to think he will not, his upside appears to be limited.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/21, 7:48 PM CT
Felix Pie, the likely starter in CF for the Cubs, went 1-for-4 with a double on Friday, and he finished the game with a .256 batting average this spring. Pie has long been a thorn in the side of minor league pitchers, but he has struggled when facing the competition in the big leagues. We're not sure if we should expect more than a .250 mark from Pie this season, and if he does hit that low will he be able to hold on to the Cubs starting CF job?
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/17, 7:45 AM CT
It looks like you can consider that competition between Felix Pie and Sam Fuld in center field to be over. "There was a little competition in center between [Felix] Pie and [Sam] Fuld, but I know Pie is going to end up playing the position," manager Lou Piniella said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Pie still is recovering from surgery that corrected a twisted testicle, but should he be fine and starting at the beginning of the season.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/15, 7:45 AM CT
The Cubs likely will hold Felix Pie out of action until Tuesday, but manager Lou Piniella didn't expect the absence to affect Pie's battle with Sam Fuld in center field, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I would think as long as he's fine that what we have here in camp will be our center fielder," Piniella said. Pie is recovering from surgery that corrected a twisted testicle, but it appears that he'll be ready for the start of the season.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/11, 7:32 PM CT
Following up on an earlier story, Felix Pie has returned to the Chicago Cubs, one day after undergoing what is being described as an outpatient procedure for a minor groin injury, according to the Associated Press. Earlier reports indicated Pie would be gone for three to five days, but has missed just one day and is expected to return to game action on Friday. Pie is fighting to join the major league roster and work as a regular in the Cubbies' outfield. Returning so quickly from this minor setback certainly helps his cause.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/10, 3:52 PM CT
Felix Pie will miss about three to five days of action, according to ChicagoSports.com. He will need to undergo surgery to correct a personal problem called testicular torsion and the ailment is not expected to compromise his bid to be the Cubs starter in center field.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/10, 1:26 PM CT
Felix Pie has taken a sizable lead over Sam Fuld to be the Cubs starting center fielder, according to the Chicago Tribune. Pie is hitting .321 with two home runs so far this spring and said,"I just want to do my job every day and change the manager's mind. It's Piniella's decision, so all I can do is play." Piniella also mentioned that he would like to see Pie raise his on-base percentage and limit his strikeouts, which he has done so far.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/5, 6:54 PM CT
Centerfield hopeful Felix Pie was a depressing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against Arizona in the Cubs' 4-5 loss in Cactus League action today, according to the Associated Press. Pie is battling with Sam Fuld for the starting job in center. Today's performance did little to help his cause.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/4, 11:42 PM CT
Felix Pie went 1-for-3 with one run in the Cubbies’ loss to the Brewers in the Cactus League on Tuesday.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/2, 6:30 PM CT
Felix Pie cracked his second homer of the spring and also drew a walk Sunday. That's the good. The bad is that he also got picked off on the basepaths after the base on balls, which undoubtedly drew the ire of manager Lou Pinella. Pie is very talented and is a clear front-runner for the Cubs center field job, but he needs to cut down on his strikeouts and mental mistakes.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 2/28, 7:37 PM CT
Felix Pie went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI for the Cubs on Thursday. The team really hopes that Pie is able to earn the starting spot in CF because if he doesn't he might end up with the dreaded Four-A label of a player who is great in the minors but not good enough to make it in the majors.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 2/28, 9:53 AM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that Felix Pie has a slight lead over Sam Fuld for the starting job in center field. The rumors that the Cubs are still considering obtaining Boston's Coco Crisp could change the plans. Pie and Fuld are both considered defensive players so whomever hits this spring could win the job. Expect Pie to win the opening day role absent a complete spring meltdown.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 2/15, 9:42 AM CT
The center field job is Felix Pie's to lose, according to the Chicago Tribune. Pie is confident he'll win the job despite his struggles last year. "The pitchers here are much better, more intelligent," he said. "[But] baseball is baseball. The more time I had up here, the more I learned. This will be the best year of my career." Sam Fuld will compete with Pie in spring training, but Fuld figures to back up at all three outfield spots.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/6, 10:28 AM CT
The Cubs will likely recall Felix Pie from Triple-A Iowa to replace the injured Alfonso Soriano on the roster. Pie is hitting .302 since July 24 and .357 overall for Iowa, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/13, 9:10 AM CT
The Cubs will option Felix Pie to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Pie, 22, is hitting .216 and hasn't started since June 29.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/5, 9:51 AM CT
Felix Pie, who was recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, will be given a prolonged chance to establish himself in the No. 2 spot in the Cubs lineup. "I like the idea of a left-handed hitter in the 2 hole with all the right-handed hitting we have," Piniella told the Chicago Tribune. "So he fits in there rather nicely." In 59 at-bats with the Cubs this year, Pie is hitting .237 with a homer and five RBI.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/10, 1:45 PM CT
The Cubs optioned outfielder Felix Pie to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday and promoted outfielder Angel Pagan, MLB.com reports.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/24, 9:14 AM CT
Felix Pie might need to play really well to avoid being sent down when the Cubs need a fifth starter next week, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Pie was not in the starting lineup Monday, with Alfonso Soriano starting in left, Jacque Jones in center and Cliff Floyd in right. Pie has hit .200 (5-for-25) in his time with the team.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/22, 5:22 PM CT
Manager Lou Pinella said he still hasn't decided what he will do with his outfield situation, according to the AP. With Alfonso Soriano slated to move to left field from center when he returns to the starting lineup Monday, the Cubs could keep top prospect Felix Pie around to start in center. Under that scenario, Matt Murton, Cliff Floyd and Jacque Jones would be vying for playing time in right field. "He (Pie) is going to need to play every day, whether it's here or in (Triple-A) Iowa. We'll talk about our outfield situation here over the next day or two," Piniella said.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/20, 8:25 AM CT
Felix Pie was moved down to eighth in the batting order Thursday and went 0-for-4. He's now 2-for-14 through three games with the Cubs.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/17, 8:42 PM CT
Felix Pie made his major league debut for the Cubs on Tuesday. He batted leadoff and played center field. Pie went 1-for-6 with a double, a run scored, and also had an RBI.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/17, 12:20 PM CT
The Cubs are expected to recall Felix Pie from Triple-A Iowa to replace the injured Alfonso Soriano on the roster, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Pie, who is hitting .444 for Iowa this year, will be in the lineup today, batting leadoff and playing center field when the Cubs go up against Greg Maddux at Wrigley.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/17, 8:59 AM CT
If Alfonso Soriano were to need a trip to the DL, top prospect Felix Pie could be called up, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Pie is hitting .444 (16-for-36) with a homer and six RBI in 11 games for Triple-A Iowa. If the team decides not to bring Pie up quite yet, Angel Pagan could be recalled, which would likely mean Jacque Jones would start in center, Cliff Floyd in left and Matt Murton in right.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/9, 8:43 AM CT
Although Felix Pie is hitting .421 through seven spring games, the Cubs seem to prefer him playing center field everyday in the minors versus him making the big club and being a part-timer, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "Right now my plans are [Alfonso] Soriano [in center], and that's it," Lou Piniella said Thursday after another two-hit game from Pie. "I'm not going to deviate from those plans for now." For what it's worth, Pie also had a dazzling outfield assist Thursday.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/5, 8:44 PM CT
Felix Pie batted leadoff against the Mariners on Monday and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. He's hitting .500 this spring (5-for-10) with two steals. Pie is expected to begin the year at Triple-A, but he could force the issue if he continues to perform well.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/5, 8:36 AM CT
The Cubs will not recall top prospect Felix Pie from Triple-A this year due to service time and the fact that the team doesn't want to rest Juan Pierre, according to the Chicago Tribune. Pie could potentially become a free agent in 2012 if he is brought up this year, but he wouldn't become one until 2013 if the team waits until next year. Pie has hit .283 with 15 homers, 57 RBI and 17 steals with Iowa this year.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/3, 7:04 AM CT
It remains unclear whether the Cubs will recall Felix Pie next week, according to the Daily Southtown. "It's up to our minor league people and (general manager) Jim (Hendry)," manager Dusty Baker said. "The decisions are made by them, because they see them all the time." He is hitting .279 with 13 homers and 16 steals for Triple-A Iowa this season.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/26, 6:53 AM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that while the Cubs haven't made a formal decision, all signs point to them calling up Felix Pie during their next homestand, which begins next weekend. He's hitting .282 with 13 homers and 55 RBI with Triple-A Iowa. Manager Dusty Baker recently said that Pie wasn't ready to be called up, but he worked with Iowa hitting coach Von Joshua and appears ready now.
Felix Pie, LF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/11, 8:43 AM CT
Manager Dusty Baker would prefer not to call up top prospect Felix Pie from Triple-A Iowa when the rosters expand, according to the Chicago Tribune. "Maybe," Baker said. "But at .270 … you guys have been talking 'Felix, Felix, Felix,' but Felix has to be the Felix you're all talking about if you're going to bring him up. I'd like to see him do a little more. I'd like to see everybody do a little more. I'd like to see everybody get here not only on name, but on merit at the same time." Pie is hitting .275 with 10 home runs and 51 RBIs for Iowa.
