Javier Lopez, P, Boston Red SoxSunday 5/17, 7:08 AM CT
Javier Lopez has cleared waivers with the Red Sox and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Pawtucket, according to the Providence Journal. He was designated for assignment earlier in the week.

Our View: Lopez held a dismal 9.26 ERA over 11.2 innings of relief, and was not worthy of holding a spot in Boston's bullpen. He was not worth owning in fantasy leagues either.

Our View: The lefty reliever held a poor 9.26 ERA this season over 11.2 innings with Boston, and held no fantasy value.

Our View: Lopez struggled over 11.1 innings with Boston this season, as he allowed 16 hits, eight walks and seven earned runs. The lefty reliever held no fantasy value.

Javier Lopez will represent Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: Manager Terry Francona wants to make sure the lefty does not pitch on back-to-back days in the tournament. Lopez would not hold much fantasy value as a middle reliever with Boston this season.

The Red Sox recalled Javier Lopez from Triple-A to bolster their bullpen, according to the Boston Herald. However, his stay with the Sox is likely to be a short one, as he's expected to get sent back down once David Wells is activated from the DL next week. In 14 appearances with Boston this year, Lopez holds a 4.32 ERA.
