Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 8/5, 5:06 PM CT
Aaron Miles has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Our View: Miles had been out since June 21 with a hyperextneded elbow. He was batting just .203 when he went down, and hasn't been a Lou Piniella favorite in 2009. Expect him to have very limited value in NL-only leagues.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsTuesday 8/4, 7:29 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Cubs plan to recall infielder Aaron Miles at some point this week. The move could happen as soon as Wednesday.

Our View: Miles will return to his role as a utility man off the bench for the Cubs, and he doesn't look to be in line for much playing time. Miles has been a major disappointment for the Cubs this season, and there is no reason to believe he will be much better this time around.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsMonday 6/29, 9:50 AM CT
As expected, Aaron Miles has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a hyperextended right elbow, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Outfielder Sam Fuld has been called up from Triple-A Iowa to take his roster spot. Miles has been used sparingly in 2009, and is not a fantasy option in almost every format.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSunday 6/28, 10:44 PM CT
According to ESPN.com, the Cubs plan to place infielder Aaron Miles on the 15-day DL Monday with a hyperextended right elbow. It is expected that the team will announce the move before Monday's game in Pittsburgh.

Our View: No word yet on the corresponding move, but it is expected that it will be either Bobby Scales or Sam Fuld. Miles didn't hold much fantasy value, so this move shouldn't make much of an impact in the fantasy world.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSunday 6/28, 12:39 PM CT
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Aaron Miles is out of the lineup for Sunday's contest with a hyperextended right elbow.

Our View: Miles had x-rays taken on his elbow. The results still aren't available, but he is out of action for the remainder of the weekend.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsFriday 6/26, 6:37 PM CT
Aaron Miles received X-rays on his hyperextended right elbow today, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He injured his elbow while taking batting practice Wednesday. He is day-to-day until the results of his X-rays come back.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 6/10, 8:10 AM CT
The Cubs will activate infielder Aaron Miles (shoulder) from the 15-day DL on Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune confirms.

Our View: Mike Fontenot has heated up just in time. Miles will work in at second base, but he is not worth using outside of larger NL-only leagues.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSaturday 6/6, 8:03 AM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that Aaron Miles is set to begin his rehab stint in Triple-A.

Our View: Miles, who is suffering from a bum shoulder, will be eligible to come off the DL next Wednesday. The light-hitting utility infielder has virtually no fantasy value due to lack of playing time and a poor start to the season.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/27, 12:51 PM CT
Aaron Miles has been placed on the 15-day DL by the Cubs with a strained right shoulder, according to TSN.

Our View: The utility man was only hitting .204 over 98 at-bats with no homers and three stolen bases, and he won't hurt fantasy owners while on the shelf.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/15, 12:10 PM CT
Aaron Miles will get another start at second base in Wednesday's game, reports the Chicago Tribune, as Mike Fontenot moves to third in place of the injured Aramis Ramirez.

Our View: Miles only has seven at-bats so far this year, but when he plays he can cause other teams problems. He is not much of a fantasy option unless he sees more time, however.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsFriday 3/27, 6:11 PM CT
Aaron Miles was 3-for-4 with an RBI on Friday. He's now hitting .314 on the spring.

Our View: Miles is a pesky hitter that can be effective from both sides of the plate. However he'll most likely bounce around the infield behind Fontenot and Theriot. If he does earn a starting spot, beware of him getting over exposed.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsThursday 3/19, 6:48 PM CT
Aaron Miles was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored while hitting leadoff in the Cubs 9-2 win over Seattle on Thursday.

Our View: The doubles were his first extra base hits of the spring, despite hitting .342. Miles has proven to be a very reliable switch-hitter in recent seasons, but he will likely back up Mike Fontenot and Ryan Theriot in Chicago this season.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsMonday 3/16, 11:26 AM CT
Aaron Miles is expected to return to Cactus League action Tuesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He has been nursing a sore right shoulder.

Our View: This is good news for Miles, as he is in a battle with Mike Fontenot for the starting gig at second base. Miles could hit for a solid average, but won't offer much speed or power.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsFriday 3/13, 9:25 AM CT
A sore right shoulder will keep Aaron Miles sidelined through the weekend, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Our View: Meanwhile, Mike Fontenot is coming off a 2-for-2 performance against Japan on Thursday and is also 12-for-33 with four doubles, two triples and a home run in spring training thus far. It looked as though Miles was the favorite to enter 2009 as Chicago's starting second baseman based on what manager Lou Piniella had been saying prior to spring training, although it's looking more and more like Fontenot may end up winning the job, which would relegate Miles to a utility infield role.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 3/4, 6:57 PM CT
Aaron Miles had an ugly day for the Cubs on Wednesday, going 0-4 with just one RBI while he stranded five runners.

Our View: Miles has seen his Cactus League average dip to .188 as he competes with Mike Fontenot for the Cubs' starting gig at second base. He still has a lot of the spring left to turn it around, but he might want to start soon to have a shot at starting routinely.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSaturday 2/28, 8:23 PM CT
Aaron Miles went 1-for-2 with a walk on Saturday. He also scored a run for the Cubs in a blowout win over the White Sox.

Our View: Miles is off to a good start for the Cubs, batting .333 in the Cactus League. He'll be competing with Mike Fontenot for the starting job at second base this spring.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSaturday 1/3, 9:00 AM CT
St. Louis manager Tony LaRussa isn't thrilled that the Cardinals let Aaron Miles get away to the Cubs, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We took a big hit with Miles. ... This guy was really good for us. It was paining for him to leave us, and he left, and that's a tough loss," LaRussa said.

Our View: Miles makes a lot of contact and scatters singles, but doesn't run well, doesn't hit for any power and is an average fielder with average range. Still, he'll start at second for the Cubs, and receive nearly $5 million over two years to do so. He's a fantasy option in NL-only leagues, but it's tough to recommend him in any type of mixed league.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsWednesday 12/31, 11:39 AM CT
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Cubs have come to terms on a two-year, $4.9 million contract with infielder Aaron Miles.

Our View: The deal will pay the 32-year-old super reserve $2.2 million this coming season and $2.7 million in 2010.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsMonday 12/22, 8:08 PM CT
The Orioles are interested in Aaron Miles, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Miles was a reliable utility man for the Cardinals last year, batting .317 in 379 at-bats. He could have some fantasy value depending on what role he would play for his new team.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSaturday 12/13, 1:08 PM CT
The Cincinnati Reds could be interested in Aaron Miles, according to MLB.com. "Miles, if we don't sign [Jerry] Hairston," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said.

Our View: Miles is a solid utility player who is only useful in deeper NL-only formats.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSaturday 12/13, 7:28 AM CT
Infielder Aaron Miles was not tendered a contract by the Cardinals and thus has become a free agent, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Our View: Miles hit a solid .317 with four homers and 31 RBI in 379 AB last year. He doesn't have much fantasy value, other then in deeper league-specific formats.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsMonday 10/13, 9:31 PM CT
It is likely that the St. Louis Cardinals will bring back second baseman Aaron Miles next year, according to StLCardinals.com.

Our View: Miles is as good a utility guy as there is. He hit .317 in 379 at-bats, and though he is not someone who should play every day or will be of much use in fantasy leagues, he is a solid fill-in.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsThursday 9/11, 5:13 PM CT
Now that the injuries are starting to pile up for the Cardinals, it will be another new left fielder in the lineup tonight. Normally a middle infielder, Aaron Miles will make his first start in left field, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: Miles has been a good part-time player for the Cardinals this year, hitting .315, but it is a surprise that Miles isn't at third and Felipe Lopez in left.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSunday 7/20, 7:08 PM CT
The Cardinals were as efficient as any team in the league today, producing nine runs on 10 hits to get the 9-5 win over San Diego. The path to riches was led by middle infielder Aaron Miles , going 3-for-5 at the dish with his third home run of the season to post four RBIs and three runs scored on the day.

Our View: Miles made it exciting, hitting the homer in the ninth with three men on to seal the deal. After hitting .337 last month, Miles is going at just .302 through July, but he has more than doubled his run production and seems to be working towards better power numbers as well (two homers in his last five games).
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSunday 7/13, 3:56 PM CT
Aaron Miles continues to hit, and he went 3-for-5 with five RBI against the Pirates today. Miles collected a triple and home run on the day.

Our View: If Miles can do anything, it's slap the ball around. His average is now .317, and though he will not provide power or many RBI (despite today's efforts), NL-only owners could do worse if they need a boost in average.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsThursday 7/3, 12:14 PM CT
Aaron Miles has stretched his hit streak to 14 games. He entered Wednesday's game hitting .421 over his previous 13 games and is hitting .396 out of the two-hole this season.

Our View: Miles is making a strong case to become an everyday player. It will be interesting to see what Tony La Russa will do once Cesar Izturis returns from the DL. Brendan Ryan and Adam Kennedy make four middle infielders on the roster.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsMonday 6/30, 1:32 PM CT
Aaron Miles is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He has 20 hits over the span, and is hitting .321 for the season overall.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsTuesday 6/24, 6:48 PM CT
Entering interleague play, you may want to consider Aaron Miles. He is MLB's all-time best hitter during interleague play, coming in at .367. Cesar Izturis' recent trip to the DL further increases Miles' value.

Our View: Miles was 10-for-19 in his four starts against AL teams last week, including his first home run of the season.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsSunday 6/22, 6:36 PM CT
Aaron Miles started at second base for the Cardinals before shifting over to shortstop, as he went 5-for-6 from the plate to boost his average to .313 in 162 AB.

Our View: Miles offers no power with just six extra base hits (one home run), and hasn't stolen a single base, but that batting average certainly is useful if you can overlook his deficiencies.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/22, 4:44 PM CT
Aaron Miles had his best outing of the season on Tuesday. He went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI against the Brewers. Miles' average jumped from .250 to .317.

Our View: What a difference an afternoon makes, huh? The bigger news for Miles could be the injury to Cesar Izturis, which we're still waiting to hear about. Miles could step into more playing time if Izturis were out for a while.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/22, 12:33 PM CT
Aaron Miles gets the nod at second base today over Adam Kennedy, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The team will battle left-handed hurler Manny Parra and the Brewers.

Our View: The utility man is hitting 9-for-36 with two RBI and is set to bat seventh in the order. He could surprise today, as he hit .290 over 414 at-bats in 2007.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsFriday 1/4, 1:36 PM CT
Aaron Miles re-signed with the Cardinals Friday on a one-year deal, according to the AP. "Aaron has shown a great deal of versatility with our club over the past two years," said Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak. "He has proven to be a quality player both as a starter and off the bench and the value of a player like Aaron who can play several positions and hit from both sides can not be understated." Miles, who hit .290 in 414 at-bats last year, could once again serve in a utility role, although it's also possible he'll see the majority of the action at second base if Adam Kennedy doesn't rebound.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsThursday 12/13, 11:32 AM CT
The Cardinals non-tendered Aaron Miles Thursday. Miles played pretty well in a utility role last year, hitting .290 in 414 at-bats while playing mostly second and shortstop.
Aaron Miles, 2B, Chicago CubsThursday 8/23, 5:35 AM CT
Aaron Miles left for California to be with his expecting wife, the AP reports. Tony La Russa said Miles could be back with the club Thursday.
