Shane Victorino is in the Phillies' lineup for Game 6 on Wednesday, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Todd Zolecki. X-Rays on his index finger were negative.

Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 11/3, 8:35 AM CT
Shane Victorino expects to play in game six of the World Series on Wednesday despite the bruised finger he suffered in game five, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Vicorino has been absolutely destroying the ball this postseason, and his average is at .368 in the playoffs. When Victorino is hitting, especally the long ball, the Phils stand a very good chance of winning games. He will need to carry this hot streak over to the World Series.

Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 8/7, 6:14 PM CT
Todd Zolecki reports that Shane Victorino was held out of the Phillies lineup on Friday due to "a little soreness in his quad."

Our View: Victorino is proving his worth as an All-Star as of late, as he is just destroying the baseball in July. Our View: This seems like a little bit of homerism on the part of Manuel, as Brad Hawpe and Justin Upton both have better overall statistics, but Victorino should still play solidly for the senior circuit in center.

Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/8, 9:38 PM CT

Shane Victorino had a huge day against the Reds on Monday, going 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI, five runs and a walk.

Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/26, 9:59 PM CT
Shane Victorino was 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in the Phillies' 5-3 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Our View: The Flyin' Hawaiian is hitting just .284 this season, but has a nine game hitting streak and has 15 hits over that stretch. He's not a good source of power, but if he gets the average up he's a solid fantasy contributor. He makes his bones on runs, steals and AVG.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/12, 3:43 PM CT
Shane Victorino has been moved to the leadoff spot in the Phillies' batting order for Tuesday's game. He is replacing shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who will hit fifth.

Our View: Victorino has been very good this year, and he is a perfect fit in the leadoff spot. His run totals should increase if he stays in the top spot, but his RBI may decline a bit. Victorino owners should monitor this situation over the next few games to see where he hits.

I want to turn the page and move forward. But I appreciate everybody's condolences. I got a lot of text messages, a lot of phone calls. I appreciate everybody's love and support. And not just for me, but for Charlie. But like my dad said, my grandmother would want me to be here."

Our View: Victorino started slowly this year but he has virtually matched last years production (.281-12-46-78-37) this year (.283-11-49-87-30) marking him as a very valuable depth play in mixed leagues and a stud in NL-only formats.

Victorino went 3-for-3 at the dish with two home runs (his 4th and 5th of the season) to total three RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Victorino is enjoying a nice bounceback effort this month, hitting .320 through July with three homers and 11 RBIs, a strong performance after hitting just .235 with no homers and four RBIs last month.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 7/11, 10:39 PM CT

Shane Victorino went 2-for-4 in the Phillies 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. They were his first hits in the series.

Our View: Victorino hit just .235 through June without a single home run and just four RBIs. This is the start of a new month and could be the beginning of a reversal of fortunes for the young outfielder.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/26, 5:52 PM CT
Shane Victorino was the only Philadelphia player to get a hit off of Oakland's Rich Harden, singling twice. He also stole a base in the Phillies 5-0 loss to the A's.

Our View: Victorino stole his twentieth base of the season in today's game. He has also scored 49 runs, and is hitting over .300 against right-handed pitching. Victorino is only hitting about .230 against lefties, however, so if your fantasy team is deep enough to play him in a platoon situation, that would be optimal.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 6/8, 5:17 PM CT

Philadelphia outfielder Shane Victorino was a monster in the 6-1 win over Colorado this evening, going 3-for-4 with walk at the plate, posting two stolen bases, and touting two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Victorino now has 12 stolen bases on the season, 11 of them coming in May.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 5/14, 7:55 AM CT
Shane Victorino started in right field on Tuesday night, a spot he hasn't played since last season. He had been holding down the center field job, but Jayson Werth started there. "Tonight, that's what I wanted to do," manager Charlie Manuel informs the Philadelphia Daily News. "I think I told you guys before that Werth will play some in center field. I said that in the winter, I said that in the spring, I said it right before Victorino came back."

Our View: It certainly doesn't sound like Victorino is being pulled from his duties in center. Fantasy owners should just be happy he's in the lineup.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/13, 9:02 PM CT
Shane Victorino had two hits, a run scored and his sixth stolen base of the season on Tuessday.

Our View: Victorino improved his average to .240 tonight, but he has to star running more to reward those owners who selected him this season given that he has attempted only seven steals in 26 games.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 5/8, 12:00 AM CT
Shane Victorino had only one hit on Wednesday night be he still scored a run, knocked in a run and stole his third base of the season for the Phillies.

Our View: Since returning to the starting lineup Victorino is 8-for-29 (.276) with six runs scored as he has begun to salvage what had been a terrible slow start to his season.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/2, 5:49 PM CT
Shane Victorino is starting in center field and hitting from the leadoff spot for the second straight night.

Our View: Victorino returned from the disabled list (strained right calf) on Wednesday, but didn't return to the regular duty until Thursday.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/2, 1:00 PM CT
Shane Victorino played center field and batted in the leadoff position on Thursday night, his first start since he went on the disabled list with a strained right calf, notes the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: Victorino has played in 15 games this season and has only scored five runs. But despite the recent roster shuffle and key injuries, the Phillies find themselves in first place. At this point Philadelphia has to be considered the team to beat in the NL East.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 4/29, 5:04 PM CT
The Phillies activated Shane Victorino from the DL Tuesday. The outfielder has been out since April 12 with a strained calf. T.J. Bohn was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room on the roster.

Our View: We'll see how much the calf ailment holds back Victorino in the running game, since he obviously derives most of his fantasy value from his steals.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/28, 12:07 PM CT
Shane Victorino is eligible to return from the DL on Tuesday, in time to play against the Padres, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Manager Charlie Manuel commented that he will proceed with caution when using Victorino. Manuel wants to make sure Victorino's calf, which bothered him last season, doesn't nag him.

Our View: He would return to center field, or would move to right. Jayson Werth has been hot with five homers and 12 RBI over 72 at-bats, and could remain in center upon Victorino's return. Victorino would play either way, and Geoff Jenkins would be the odd man out.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 4/22, 9:51 AM CT
Shane Victorino, who is recovering from a calf strain, will make his first rehab appearance at Class-A Clearwater today, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: He is expected to be ready to come off the DL when he is first eligible on April 28, barring a setback. Jayson Werth would slide back into his bench role upon his return.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/14, 10:42 AM CT
Shane Victorino is ready for rehab on his strained calf, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He is confident that his injury won't keep him out any longer than his 15 days on the DL. The team is going to take a wait-and-see approach with him, and Trainer Scott Sheridan noted that if everything goes well, he could make a minor league rehab start in about 10 days. But a lot depends on how he responds to treatment. Sheridan stated, "Certainly, you don't know. We'd like to hope that in two weeks he is doing well. If he continues to improve like he did today, that's what you are going to find." Victorino added that his MRI exam revealed a small tear in his meniscus, but Sheridan noted that it was likely a pre-existing condition and not the cause for his current pain. He was placed on the DL Saturday, and won't be eligible until April 28.

Our View: Jason Werth notably started in his place on Sunday against the Cubs.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/13, 11:46 AM CT
Following a story from yesterday, Philadelphia OF Shane Victorino has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after leaving Saturday’s game in the 7th inning with a right calf strain, according to the BeerLeaguer.com. This same injury plagued the young outfielder last season, well respected as one of the top up-and-coming fielding gems in the major leagues.

Our View: Manager Charlie Manuel has admitted worry about Victorino’s struggles to maintain health after last season and had stated he would give the kid just 125 starts this season, but the injury to Jimmy Rollins may have forced his hand as Victorino has made every start this season. Now he’s hampered again and the team has not released a timeline for his return.

Shane Victorino was forced from the Phillies game on Saturday night in the 7th inning because of a right calf strain, this according to the AP.

Our View: Victorino was 2-for-4 before being removed, and there is no clear cut explanation as to when he suffered the injury.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 4/11, 9:33 AM CT
Shane Victorino's job in center field is not in jeopardy, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He is only hitting .175 over 40 at-bats, with eight strikeouts, but Manager Manuel stated that he does plan on dropping him out of the lineup, as he plays great defense. Hopefully his bat will come around soon.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/2, 8:43 PM CT
Shane Victorino went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is now 0-for-7 on the young season. A lot is expected from Victorino this year, but as long as he can find some way to get on base, hitting from the second hole, he would seem like a lock to score 100 runs with Chase Utley and Ryan Howard batting directly behind him.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 3/8, 6:42 PM CT
Shane Victorino continued to spread the positive emotions for '08 in the Phillies' 5-9 loss to Cleveland today, batting 1-for-3 with a stolen base. The young up-and-comer provided fantasy owners with a strong 37 stolen bases in '07 and thus far it looks like he will continue to progress moving forward.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 2/29, 5:29 PM CT
Shane Victorino tripled, singled and scored a run Friday in Grapefruit League play. His triple could have easily been an inside-the-park homer, but Victorino wisely didn't push it this early in the spring. The outfielder gave owners 37 steals and 12 homers last year, and if he can stay healthy for the entire 2008 season, he could be a poor man's Carl Crawford at a fraction of the price.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 9/21, 5:38 AM CT
Shane Victorino was back in the lineup Thursday, his first start since Sept. 10 and only his fifth since injuring his right calf July 30. "He says he's well, and so does our trainer," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told the AP. "I'm looking for him to get on base some, and he'll bring energy to our team." Of course the problem with Victorino playing right now is that it forces the sizzling Jayson Werth to the bench; Werth wound up pinch-hitting Thursday, hitting a three-run homer. It's hard for us to imagine Victorino playing full-time over the final 10 days.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/13, 11:39 AM CT
Shane Victorino said he felt fine after he tweaked his right calf Tuesday, but manager Charlie Manuel said he didn't think about playing Victorino Wednesday night. "He keeps going back and forth," Manuel said in the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I definitely don't want to hurt him. Every time he gets in a game, he grabs his calf. It's not that I don't want to play Victorino. When I see a guy grab his leg and hobbling around, I think he's hurt."

Shane Victorino was forced to exit Friday's game in the eighth inning after aggravating his strained right calf. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said that Victorino probably will sit out Saturday's game, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He just came off the disabled list on Wednesday, so hopefully this is just a minor setback and not something that will force him to miss significant action.
Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/22, 4:32 PM CT
The Phillies activated Shane Victorino from the DL on Wednesday, according to the AP. He had been sidelined with a strained right calf. It remains to be seen if the calf injury will limit Victorino's stolen base attempts upon his return, but owners should at least prepare themselves that he might be not quite as aggressive on the basepaths for the next week or so.

Shane Victorino, CF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 8/10, 10:40 AM CT
Shane Victorino felt some more tightness in his strained right calf on Thursday and may not be able to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. "The only way I'm going to know [if the calf is 100 percent] is if I get in a game situation," Victorino tells the Philadelphia Inquirer. "That could be either Saturday or Sunday to at least [pinch-hit]." He is eligible to come off the DL on August 15.
