Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/17, 2:48 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-2 against Atlanta on Wednesday with an RBI and a stolen base, his second of the spring.

Our View: Ramirez was dealing with a tight groin earlier this week and has had a bit of a slow spring thus far, but there's really nothing to worry about when it comes to the stud shortstop. While Albert Pujols may be the best pure hitter in the game, Ramirez is probably the best at filling all five standard categories.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 3/16, 10:01 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez will be back in the Marlins' lineup today after being scratched on Monday with a tight groin, according to MLB.com.

Our View: We knew all along that Hanley was simply being held out yesterday for precautionary reasons, and given that he's back in action today, it's clear that that was the case. Feel free to take whoever you'd like, but owners that let Hanley fall past the No. 2 pick in their draft could very well be kicking themselves at season's end.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 3/15, 11:41 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez has been scratched from the Marlins' lineup today with a tight groin, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer.

Our View: He is being listed as day-to-day. Ramirez is being held out of action for precautionary reasons, as is the case with lots of superstars whenever they experience any bumps or bruises in spring, though this doesn't appear to be any sort of serious issue. Continue to draft Hanley as you normally would have, though don't expect him to be on the board after the first two picks.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/3, 5:56 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer in Wednesday's 19-3 clobbering of the University of Miami.

Our View: Ramirez gave the Fish a 3-0 lead before an out was even recorded, so this game was securely in the bag. Hanley should rake all spring and throughout the regular season for the Marlins and is arguably the best player to take in fantasy drafts behind the great Albert Pujols.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 11/30, 11:11 AM CT
Confirming earlier items, Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reports that the Marlins told the Boston Red Sox "weeks ago" that they have zero intention of moving superstar shortstop Hanley Ramirez.

Our View: The 2009 National League MVP runner-up will indeed be manning short in South Florida in 2010, and looking to improve on his blockbuster 2009 triple crown line of .342/24/106.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 11/29, 9:17 PM CT
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, there is "no truth" to rumors that the Marlins are listening to offers for Hanley Ramirez from the Red Sox.

Our View: Even though this is the Marlins we are talking about, file this one under "obvious." Hanley is locked up long-term, and very affordably at that, and Boston, or anybody else, doesn't have the prospects to land him in a trade.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 11/29, 3:56 PM CT
The New York Daily News is reporting that the Boston Red Sox are in discussions with the Florida Marlins about acquiring shortstop Hanley Ramirez. Ramirez was in the Sox minor league system before being traded to Florida.

Our View: The Sox are looking for a shortstop, and Hanley might be the best in the game. They have plenty of prospects to get this done if they are willing to put together a major package, but the cost will almost certanly be too high to get Hanley away from the Marlins.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 10/4, 9:26 AM CT
ESPN.com is reporting that the Florida Marlins are in communication with former Mets' manager Bobby Valentine about a position with the team. The report does not specify what position Valentine is being considered for.

Our View: Obviously the manager position seems logical here, but the Marlins just gave current manager Fredi Gonzalez a two-year extension before the start of this season. The team has contended both of Gonzalez's seasons as manager, and he was the 2008 Sporting News Manager of the Year. It doesn't look like he is going anywhere, so it will be interesting to see if these Valentine rumors have any legs.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 10/3, 5:33 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Hanley Ramirez was removed from Saturday's game against the Phillies with a bruised right knee.

Our View: It's thought that Ramirez injured the knee while stealing third in the first inning, and he's not expected to play in Sunday's final regular season game. It appears his batting average will remain at its current .342 mark, which should be good enough to win his first batting title.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 10/3, 2:26 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez is back in the lineup on Saturday after a scheduled off day on Friday, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View: His pursuit of the batting title resumes. With a ten point lead over Albert Pujols with two days to go, he likely has it in the bag.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/25, 9:40 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a single and a three-run homer off Tim Redding in tonight's 6-5 home loss to the Mets.

Our View: Ramirez crushed his 24th homer, and raised his NL-leading batting average to .351. He continues to pace the Marlins with 105 RBI as well.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/20, 3:05 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-4 with his 26th stolen base on Sunday, but the Reds easily beat the Marlins 8-1 at home.

Our View: Ramirez now has just one multi-hit effort in his past ten games. His balky hamstring could still be bothering him.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/13, 8:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals. The steal was his 25th of the season.

Our View: Hanley has his National League leading average up to .361 and is a lock to win his first batting title. The elite shortstop is having a marvelous season and has already set a career high in RBI and certainly will set one in average as well.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/11, 9:36 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was productive in tonight's 5-3 home loss to the Nationals, as he went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer off J.D. Martin. He also drew three walks.

Our View: Ramirez extended his hitting streak to eight games, with four homers over the span. He needs two more RBI to reach 100 for his first time in his career.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/8, 9:47 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4, htting his 20th home run of the season in the process, as the Marlins beat the Mets 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Our View: The National League's second best player will no doubt finish a decently close second to Albert Pujols in this fall's MVP balloting.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/5, 10:13 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez helped lead the Marlins offensively in Saturday's 9-5 win at Washington, as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. He hit a double and a two-run homer off Livan Hernandez.

Our View: Ramirez launched his 20th homer of 2009, and is one away from the 100th of his career. He has two hits in each of his last two games, and raised his NL-leading batting average to .359.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/4, 3:16 PM CT
After missing two and a half games with a bum hamstring, Hanley Ramirez is back in the Marlins lineup on Friday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Apparently Hanley has gone from being just "10 percent" a few days ago to ready to rock and roll. Dan Uggla might want to watch out tonight on the first double play the two turn together.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/3, 10:42 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez didn't start the game on Thursday, but he did pinch-hit and drive in a run in the Marlins' 8-3 win over the Braves. Hanley was 1-for-1 in the game with an RBI single.

Our View: This is a very good sign for Hanley owners, as it looks like he should be ready to start again soon. It's good to see he hasn't lost his stroke, and he should come out hitting when he gets back in the lineup.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/3, 7:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was out of the Marlins' lineup for the third straight game on Thursday. Ramirez hopes to return to the lineup at some point this weekend.

Our View: Hanley is still suffering from a hamstring injury, but it looks like he should be able to return soon. He is not expected to hit the DL, which is great news for owners who are in or approaching the playoffs. Check back in the coming days to see if he will be in the lineup.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/3, 3:47 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez is out the Marlins lineup again on Wednesday with a strained hamstring, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: This will make it two and a half games Ramirez will have missed with the injury. Maybe Dan Uggla can whip him back into playing shape by the weekend.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/2, 5:12 PM CT
According to MLBlogs.com, Hanley Ramirez is now a late scratch for Wednesday's game against the Braves.

Our View: Hanley had a well documented fight with Dan Uggla on Tuesday over the shortstop's lack of effort recently, so it begs the question: is he out because of the hamstring or the ego? We may never know, but the bottom line is he's out, so find a quick fantasy replacement for today.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/2, 4:24 PM CT
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Hanley Ramirez and second baseman Dan Uggla got into it in the clubhouse after Hanley's early departure from Tuesday's game.

Our View: Uggla and some other teammates feel that Ramirez is phoning it in right now and is faking injuries to protect his league-leading .355 average while in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. They have questioned his commitment to winning and feel that he's no longer motivated since he already has a $70 million contract. Not a good clubhouse attitude for a team in the thick of the Wild Card hunt. Ramirez is insulted, but the rest of the Marlins seem pretty convinced.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/2, 3:55 PM CT
One day after leaving the team's game with a hamstring issue, Hanley Ramirez is back in the lineup and batting third on Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: They wouldn't be starting him if it was anything serious, so be sure to get the National League's batting leader back into your starting lineup tonight.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/2, 9:15 AM CT
The hamstring injury that forced Hanley Ramirez out of the Marlins game in the fourth inning on Tuesday is not considered serious, and the National League's batting average leader could be back in the lineup by as early as Wednesday night, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The team says the injury was just "severe cramping." If he says he feels good this morning, he will play tonight.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/1, 11:27 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez exited Tuesday's game after four innings with tightness in his left hamstring.

Our View: He was replaced at short by Emilio Bonifacio. It doesn't sound too serious and barring a different diagnosis tomorrow morning, Hanley shouldn't miss more than a couple games.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/29, 9:40 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 0-for-4 for the first time since July 30 on Saturday night, and unsurprisingly, the Marlins lost 7-4 to the Padres at home.

Our View: The hitless night was just his second since August 4. It's a safe bet he won't make it two in a row tomorrow.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/28, 10:04 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 in the Marlins' 9-5 loss to San Diego on Friday night for his 15th multi-hit effort this month, raising his league-leading average to an eye-popping .366.

Our View: If the season ended today, his .366 average would best his previous career high of .332 by an amazing 34 points.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/26, 9:03 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-3 on Wednesday to up his National League leading average to .365, as the Marlins beat the Mets 5-3 at home.

Our View: If Ramirez was hitting for just a little more power this season, he could conceivably be included in the discussion with Albert Pujols for who should be drafted first overall in next year's fantasy drafts. Regardless, he is now clearly the game's top shortstop.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/22, 12:15 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in the Marlins 5-3 win over the Braves on Friday.

Our View: Ramirez is cruising right now. He's hitting well over .400 for the month and currently leads the league in hitting with his .360 average. Friday's homer was his 19th and he's plated 85 teammates this season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/18, 11:11 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in the Marlins' 6-2 win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Our View: Hanley has his league leading average up to .359 and has been red hot lately. He's hitting .435 in August and has 11 multi-hit contests in his last 13 games.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/16, 4:47 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez kept his hot bat going on Sunday. The All Star shortstop went 3-for-5 and hit his 18th home run in the Marlins' 10-3 whipping of the Rockies.

Our View: Hanley is the one thing keeping Albert Pujols from the triple crown this season. He seems to have a lock on the NL batting title, raising his average to .357 with Sunday's three-hit performance.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/15, 8:05 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez says he has excelled at hitting with runners in scoring position this season after getting some Spring Training advice from Albert Pujols, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Ramirez was famously bad with runner's in scoring position last season, batting just .239, but leads the National League in the category this year at .423. He won't say what Pujols told him, just that "it's an FBI secret." The thought of these two talking shop is scary.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/12, 9:57 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez held his league leading average steady at .351 on Wednesday night, and hit his 17th home run, but was no match for the explosive Houston offense which piled up 16 hits in a 14-6 victory in Miami.

Our View: The beat goes on for the majors' best shortstop.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/11, 10:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-6 with two RBI on Tuesday, helping the Marlins prevail 9-8 in an 11-inning marathon with the Astros.

Our View: The National League's top hitter is now batting .351, and making it hard to simply concede the league's MVP award to Albert Pujols.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/10, 9:16 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-5 with an RBI in tonight's 8-6 win against Houston. He hit a pair of singles, and also swiped a base.

Our View: Ramirez extended his hitting streak to six games, and continues to lead the NL with a .348 batting average. He stole a base in three straight games as well.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/9, 4:59 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez had a strong outing in Sunday's 12-3 win at Philadelphia, as he went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored. He hit a double and three singles, and also swiped a base.

Our View: The elite shortstop raised his NL-leading batting average to .348, and extended his hitting streak to five games. He also leads Florida with 74 RBI, 68 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/6, 4:30 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI on Thursday, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Marlins from getting swept in Washington D.C., as the Fish lost 12-8.

Our View: Hanley is still marching toward his first batting title, leading the NL in average at .344 through 100 games played. Expect some stiff competition down the stretch from Albert Pujols, but if Hanley doesn't win the title it will be because Albert takes it and not because he loses it.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/2, 7:28 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was not in the starting lineup for the Marlins Sunday, due to a bruised left knee, but appeared in the game as a pinch hitter.

Our View: The injury doesn't appear to be too serious and Hanley should be in the starting lineup of the Marlins' next contest. Feel free to keep him employed in fantasy lineups.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/1, 7:50 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez exited tonight's game against the Cubs with a bruised left knee after being struck by a pitch from Carlos Zambrano in the third inning, according to the Associated Press.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/29, 10:56 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez homered and raised his league leading average to .349 on Wednesday, as the Marlins beat Atlanta 6-3 at home.

Our View: Hanley is simply scary good in 2009. He's quickly rounding into the no-brainer number two pick in mixed fantasy drafts for next season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/26, 7:02 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez drove in three more runs on Sunday, bringing his season total to 65, as the Marlins beat the NL-leading Dodgers 8-6 in Los Angeles.

Our View: He also still leads the National League in hitting at .348. If not for a man named Albert Pujols, he'd likely be leading all NL-MVP talk.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/22, 12:04 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 on Tuesday in the Marlins 3-2 victory in San Diego, upping his league leading average to .348.

Our View: Hanley keeps on keeping on in 2009, and is fast turning into the most complete player in the major leagues not named Albert Pujols.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 7/18, 8:25 PM CT
Saturday's game between the Phillies and Marlins has been postponed after a 90-minute rain delay, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Florida was leading 2-0 in the second inning when the game was postponed. A makeup date is yet to be announced.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/12, 9:19 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez appears to be getting back on track. In Sunday's 8-1 win over the Diamondbacks he was 3-for-5 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Our View: This is great news for Hanley owners. After missing five straight games with a tight hip flexor he has at least one hit in his three starts since returning to the lineup. He leads the NL with a .349 average and it looks like he's healthy enough to run now, as referenced by his 13th steal on Sunday.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/10, 11:25 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a single in tonight's 8-0 loss at Arizona.

Our View: The Marlins only had four hits in the game, and stranded nine men on base. This is encouraging that Ramirez registered a hit, as he made his first start since last Saturday due to a tight hip flexor.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/10, 6:14 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez is in tonight's starting lineup at Arizona, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: He has not started since Saturday while nursing a tight hip flexor. He is at 75 percent health, and the elite shortstop should be safe to return to fantasy duty.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/10, 9:38 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez, who hasn't started for five straight games because of a strained hip flexor (he has pinch hit), could rejoin the Marlins lineup in Arizona tonight, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: This is great news for Ramirez owners. He was hitting better than anyone in baseball at the time of his injury, and will surely play at a high-level in the desert this weekend should he return. Be ready to start him tonight, but stay tuned for updates.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/9, 8:17 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez is out of the Marlins' lineup for tonight's game at Arizona while nursing a strained right hip flexor, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The elite shortstop is feeling better, and may be ready to return to the diamond Friday. Skipper Fredi Gonzalez also believes he should be fine to play in the All-Star Game next Tuesday at Busch Stadium. Emilio Bonifacio has been filling in at shortstop in his absence.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/8, 2:12 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez is not in the Marlins' lineup for the fourth straight game on Wednesday with a strained right hip flexor. He is being replaced by Emilio Bonifacio at shortstop.

Our View: Hanley said he is still pretty sore, and he may rest for a few more days. Check back tomorrow for an update on his status, but get him out today if you have another option.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/7, 6:13 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez will sit out again on Tuesday night, as he deals with a strained right hip flexor, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: This will be the third straight game the Marlins RBI machine has missed. He doesn't appear in any danger of going on the disabled list, so just take it day-by-day with your prized shortstop.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 7/6, 7:49 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez will be out for Florida for a second-straight day as he continues to deal with a tight right hip flexor, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: While the missed games are certainly not making any Hanley owners happy, they need not fret about anything serious. He remains day-to-day and should be back before long, possibly by Tuesday.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/5, 11:24 AM CT
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Marlins' shortstop Hanley Ramirez has been scratched from Sunday's lineup with a tight right hip flexor. He will be available to pinch-hit if necessary.

Our View: This doesn't sound all that serious, as it seems he is just a little tight today. Get him out if you have a replacement, and check back on his status for early this coming week.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 7/4, 8:00 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez hit another home run on Saturday, his 14th of the season, and contributed two RBIs as the Marlins beat the Pirates 5-3 on the Fourth of July.

Our View: Ramirez continues to be the second best player in baseball for the time being behind Albert Pujols, and now has 60 RBIs on the season, putting him on pace to shatter his career high of 81 established in 2007. He is also batting a robust .346 on year.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/1, 4:32 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez drove in two more runs on Wednesday as the Marlins finished off their third straight sweep of the Nationals this season, winning 5-3 in Miami.

Our View: Outside of Albert Pujols, no one is hitting as good as Hanley Ramirez right now. The Marlins shortstop now has 26 RBIs to go along with five home runs in his last ten games, and has seen his average rise from .328 to .345 in the process. If he wasn't already, he is now the premier fantasy shortstop in all of baseball.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/30, 10:49 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez carried the Marlins in tonight's 7-5 win over the Nationals, as he went 2-for-4 with four RBI. He hit a single and a two-run homer off Craig Stammen.

Our View: Ramirez is enjoying a power surge, as he generated five homers over his last nine games. He continues to lead the Marlins with a .341 batting average and 56 RBI as well.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/29, 9:54 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in tonight's 4-2 win over the Nationals at home. He hit a double and a pair of singles.

Our View: The elite shortstop has three hits in three of his last five games, and collected his 29th RBI of June.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/28, 5:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday in the Marlins' 5-2 loss to the Rays. Ramirez is now hitting .333 on the year.

Our View: The Marlins' offense was stifled by Rays' starter David Price today, but Hanley still managed to drive in a run. While he isn't performing up to his fantasy draft position due to injuries, he is still very good in all aspects of the game.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/26, 11:27 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was productive in tonight's 7-3 loss at Tampa Bay, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit a double and a solo homer off James Shields.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/25, 9:00 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez hit his third grand slam of the season on Thursday, and drove in five runs as the Marlins routed the Orioles 11-3.

Our View: Hanley is really heating up and there is no excuse to not be starting him every single day.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/23, 10:35 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs on Tuesday night as the Marlins defeated the Orioles 7-6 in 12 innings.

Our View: Hanley is putting up his usual excellent numbers in 2009, batting .329 with ten home runs and 40 RBIs. You should see him playing in next month's All-Star game in St. Louis.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/14, 3:01 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a sac fly, and a stolen base as the Marlins won 11-3 in Toronto on Sunday.

Our View: Ramirez was not in the starting lineup four games ago against the Cardinals. Since then he is 6-for-12 with six RBI. He is on pace to steal 23 bases this season after stealing 35 last season and 51 each of the two seasons before that.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/11, 10:27 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez is not in the Marlins starting lineup today according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: This is nothing more than a routine day off during a day game following a night game. He will be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 6/6, 10:31 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez crushed two doubles on Saturday as the Marlins beat the Giants 5-4. Ramirez went 2-for-4 with the doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI in the game.

Our View: Hanley may be injured, but he sure isn't showing it at the plate. He is an outstanding hitter, and when he gets fully healthy it is scary to think what he can do. Expect the numbers to get better once he starts to heal, so owners should believe that the best is yet to come.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/3, 7:43 AM CT
According to the Miami Herald, Hanley Ramirez will get a day off some time during the Marlins' 11-game homestand to rest his sore groin.

Our View: Hanley has been very good lately even though he's playing though pain, and he will not take kindly to sitting out. Regardless, expect him to sit in the near future for a game. Keep an eye on him this week, so you can pop in your backup for a day and then insert Hanley back in your lineup.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/2, 11:03 AM CT
Despite a sore groin and lingering soreness in the upper right side of his body, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Hanley Ramirez has no plans to go on the disabled list.

Our View: It is no secret that Ramirez has been playing hurt, but despite having swiped only two bases since May 10, he has still been a terror in an otherwise slumping Marlins lineup. He has gotten a hit in nine of his last 10 games, including eight in his last three. At this point, there is still no reason to not have him in your starting lineup every day.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/1, 9:58 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-4 win over the Brewers at home. He hit a double and two singles.

Our View: The elite shorstop is hot as he racked up three hits in back-to-back games, and has eight hits over his last three. He is still dealing with soreness in his right hand though, which likely was to blame as he also made his fourth fielding error of the season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/1, 10:17 AM CT
The Miami Herald is reporting that Marlins' manager Fredi Gonzalez was pleasantly surprised at the speed shown by Hanley Ramirez on Sunday "considering how gimpy he looked in pre-game warmups and batting practice." Ramirez is still struggling with soreness in his right hand, elbow, shoulder, and thigh.

Our View: Hanley is not nearly 100 percent right now, but he is good enough to play, and a limited Hanley is still pretty good. He needs to get healed up, and when he does expect even better production from him than you are getting right now.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/31, 3:09 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez had a nice day at the plate for the Marlins on Sunday in their 3-2 loss to the Mets. Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Our View: Hanley has his average up to .330 now, and he is really starting to turn it on. He is still a top fantasy option, and expect him to continue to pile up the numbers as the season goes on.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/30, 10:54 AM CT
MLB.com reports that Hanley Ramirez is back in the lineup for Saturday's tilt with the Mets. He had missed the previous two games with a hamstring injury.

Our View: Ramirez is hitting .318/.399/.547 this season as he has adjusted to hitting third in the order. However, he only has 22 RBI in the spot and that improvement does not equal his loss of value in stolen bases. He has eight steals on the season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/30, 8:53 AM CT
The Miami Herald reports that Hanley Ramirez looked good in batting practice prior to Friday's game but his fielding is still not up to par. He has missed the Marlins' last two games. He is day-to-day with a sore groin.

Our View: Ramirez's power has come on in May as he has hit six home runs compared to just two in April. He remains questionable for the weekend, but we expect him to be a solid play next week.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/27, 5:41 PM CT
According to the Miami Herald, Hanley Ramirez could return to the lineup on Friday at the earliest.

Our View: His hammy is still apparently pretty sore and tight. He could be used as a pinch hitter, but then the Marlins would have to pinch run for him as well. He's better off just coming back when he's 100 percent.

Our View: Hanley is now hitting .327 with six bombs and 17 RBI and is producing well, but isn't looking like the number one overall pick that he was in most fantasy drafts. An alarming stat: he has just four steals and has been caught for times. Expectations are high for this superstar, and right now owners are expecting more.

"It pinches each time I swing, but I've got to go with it," Ramirez tells the Miami Herald. "I feel it every time I grab the bat. But I can swing. The swelling is a little bit better."

Our View: This situation sounds far from ideal, but the Marlins seem unable to hold Hanley back any longer. We have to be a bit worried that his power could be down as long as he continues to have pain in the wrist.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/1, 11:10 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez wants to return to the diamond, but the Marlins are holding him out of Friday's starting lineup, according to the Palm Beach Post. Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/29, 12:41 PM CT
The Marlins believe there is a good chance that shortstop Hanley Ramirez (hand/wrist) will be back in the lineup on Thursday. "I'd say it's 80-20 for tomorrow," manager Fredi Gonzalez informs MLB.com. The All-Star continues to have some swelling in his sore right hand.

Our View: Gonzalez seems to be awfully optimistic about Thursday considering he also admits that he is not sure he'd risk using Ramirez as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday. Anyway, fantasy owners should keep Hanley out until we are more certain about his return.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/29, 10:15 AM CT

Our View: This is certainly a relief as a broke wrist could have soured many hopes in the world of fantasy baseball. We wouldn't be surprised if he missed another start or two, but Hanley shouldn't be out of the lineup for long.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/27, 7:20 PM CT
The Palm Beach Post reports that Hanley Ramirez left Monday's game after being hit by a pitch on his right wrist. He appeared to be in immediate pain and was replaced in the lineup by Ross Gload. Alfredo Amezaga took over at shortstop.

Our View: Ramirez figures to play through the injury, but he may continue to struggle to hit the ball deep until the issue is cleared up (he has two home runs in 68 ABs). This news may also explain why Hanley is only 2-for-5 on steal attempts this season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/10, 10:11 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was 3-for-4 with his second home run of the season in the Marlins 5-4 win over the Mets.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/8, 2:25 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Nationals. Both of his knocks were singles.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/6, 6:19 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez got off to hot start on Monday as the Marlins beat the Nationals 12-6. He finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, five RBI, and a walk.

Our View: Ramirez is among the best when it comes to fantasy baseball and it appears that he won't lose much value as the No. 3 hitter in the Marlins order. He did not have a good spring, but he should be one of the game's top producers.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/1, 4:34 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored on Wednesday as Florida crushed Baltimore 13-2.

Our View: Hanley is starting to see the ball better. He was mired in a brutal slump when he first returned from the WBC, but seems to be pulling out of it. He's only hitting .186, but he's been able to drive people in, posting 12 RBI in limited duty.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/29, 4:24 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez hit his third home run of the spring Sunday against the Nats. He finished the game 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Our View: Ramirez appears to have broken out of the slump that has gripped him since his return from the WBC. It looks as if the Marlins will bat him in the third spot in the order, so you can count on Ramirez to be a prominent run producer among NL sluggers.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 3/27, 3:51 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-4 with his second home run of the spring, a two-run shot off Jeremy Guthrie in the first inning.

Our View: Ramirez is still just 2-for-22 since returning from the World Baseball Classic, though he has been recovering from right shoulder tendinitis. Still, he should be better by Opening Day and remains a sure-fire top-four pick who's not just capable, but expected to go 30-30 while batting over .300.

Hanley Ramirez, who has been recovering from right shoulder tendinitis, is in today's lineup against the Red Sox, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 3/20, 1:08 PM CT
Skipper Fredi Gonzalez is optimistic Hanley Ramirez will be ready to return to the diamond Saturday against Boston, according to the Palm Beach Post. He is recovering from right shoulder tendinitis.

Our View: Barring a setback, Ramirez expects to be good to go for opening day, so he should not be downgraded in fantasy drafts.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 3/19, 5:50 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Hanley Ramirez expects to play on opening day. He has dealt with discomfort in his left shuolder over the past week and he is currently day-to-day. He attributes the injury to not being ready to play a full nine innings in the WBC. The injury is only a factor when he throws, not when he hits.

Our View: The 25-year-old has been durable throughout his young career, and there's little reason to think that the injury is any more than some general soreness.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/18, 7:31 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that Hanley Ramirez was scratched from the lineup Wednesday for the second straight day. He is experiencing discomfort in his left shoulder.

Our View: Ramirez hasn't played since Saturday, and that was only at DH. Keep a close eye on him as this doesn't sound like good news and Hanley is far too valuable a player to miss out on.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 3/16, 12:14 PM CT

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 3/13, 2:48 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez returned to Florida on Friday, going 1-for-2 with a double, a run and a stolen base from the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

Our View: Ramirez looks back to his studly ways after his Dominican team disappointed at the World Baseball Classic. He's been the overall No. 1 pick more often than not in drafts thus far and there's really nothing not to love with his combination of hitting prowess, power and speed.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 3/7, 2:22 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in the Domincan Republic's loss to the Netherlands on Saturday.

Our View: Of particular note was Ramirez's reluctance to steal second during a David Ortiz at bat. He was not being held on and there was just one out. Both of his walks were against Sidney Ponson.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 2/28, 4:29 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez's rough start continued on Saturday as he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout against Baltimore. He did manage to draw on walk. He also committed an error, which already gives him three during the spring.

Our View: Ramirez should hit his groove soon enough. He's one of the most valuable fantasy players in the majors as he's a shortstop that can be a 30-30 guy with a .300 average. We expect his RBI numbers to be on the rise too from his 67 last season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 2/26, 4:20 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was hitless in three trips to the plate Thursday afternoon in Florida's 9-0 loss to the Mets in a Grapefruit League game.

Our View: Word has it Ramirez has hit the weights this offseason, adding nearly 25 pounds of muscle to his lean frame. Expect the all-world shortstop to play at least 155 games this season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/25, 4:18 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez belted a two-run home run as the Marlins tied the Cardinals on Wednesday. He hit No. 3 in the lineup and finished 1-for-2 with two RBI, a walk and an error.

Our View: Ramirez hit 33 home runs last season while hitting leadoff, and he has added some bulk in the offseason. Look for him to be a nice source of power this season, but his steals will likely take a dip due to his spot in the lineup. Regardless, Ramirez will once again be one of the game's elite players.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/18, 7:40 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez is adding upper-body strength and his torso is noticeably thicker, according to FishBytes.com.

Our View: Ramirez is going to drop to third in the Marlins' batting order, and we may see a slight boost in his power numbers as he crushed 33 homers in 2008.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 2/17, 4:52 PM CT
Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez signed a contract extension through the 2011 season, according to the Associated Press.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 2/15, 8:39 PM CT
The Miami Herald reports that Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez has gained nearly 25 pounds of muscle this offseason to better handle the rigors of a 162-game schedule. Ramirez, who played in 153 games a season ago at 200 pounds, hopes to play all 162 games in 2009 at a svelte 224 pounds.

Our View: Ramirez reportedly worked out for an hour a day, five days a week, and swam laps in his swimming pool to help strengthen his troublesome left shoulder.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 2/15, 3:18 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that Hanley Ramirez will hit third this season as opposed to leadoff. Either Cameron Maybin or Emilio Bonifacio will hit first.

Our View: This is a pretty big move, and one that could mess with Ramirez's unquestionably successful approach. In 56 at-bats last season in the three-hole, Ramirez hit only .268. He will certainly have the opportunity to drive in well over 100 runs, but there's little chance that he scores 125 runs again. Also, more situations may prohibit him from steal attempts, meaning his stolen base total could dip from the 35 swipes he had last season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 2/12, 5:24 PM CT
The Marlins face a crucial vote on Friday that would determine whether or not they will be able to break ground on a new stadium, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: The poor economy has threatened the deal that would put the Marlins, who would be renamed the Miami Marlins, in a new $515 million dollar stadium.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/11, 9:21 AM CT
Though he has seen his errors decrease in each of his three full major-league seasons from 26 to 24 to 22, Florida shortstop Hanley Ramirez said he still needed a lot of work on his defense, and he did just that during every day of the offseason, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Ramirez has a career fielding percentage of .964, which is far too low for an everyday shortstop in the bigs. Fantasy owners are far more concerned with his offense, however, and after a 30-30 season in 2008, he should be one of, if not the, top pick in fantasy drafts.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 1/4, 8:12 AM CT
The Marlins apparently told the Red Sox that Hanley Ramirez was untouchable and that the teams never got into discussions of what players might return him to Boston's system, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Josh Beckett is still pitching and pitching well for the Red Sox, so that deal wasn't a complete disaster even with Mike Lowell's bad hip, but it still looks like the Marlins got the better end of it now.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/30, 6:59 AM CT
The Red Sox inquired about Marlins' shortstop Hanley Ramirez after missing out on Mark Teixeira, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 11/13, 6:13 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez won his first career Silver Slugger on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Ramirez is arguably the top offensive shortstop in the majors. He hits for more power than Mets counterpart Jose Reyes, with a similar average. Reyes does hold an edge in stolen bases, but Ramirez still gives fantasy owners significant production in that category.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/28, 11:50 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez is not in Sunday's lineup, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: He reaggravated a left shoulder injury while diving for a ground ball on Saturday. He will only be available to run, but will be facing unfavorable field conditions as it continues to rain at Shea. Rookie Cameron Maybin will lead off and roam center field and Alfredo Amezaga will start at short.

Hanley Ramirez hit his 33rd home run of the season off of Tim Redding on Wednesday night in the first at bat of the game. He finished the evening 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Our View: The 33 home runs is a career-high for Ramirez. He continues to solidify himself as an absolute fantasy stud from the leadoff position but he may get more RBI opportunities in 2009 if Cameron Maybin proves a legitimate leadoff option.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/22, 3:30 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Monday's 7-5 loss to the Reds.

Our View: He missed four games with a strained left shoulder, and hopefully he will fare better the rest of the week, assuming he plays. Manager Fredi Gonzalez deemed him healthy enough to return to the lineup, but Ramirez was clearly rusty.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/22, 12:53 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez returned to the starting lineup for Monday's contest against the Reds, according to the Miami Herald. He is batting leadoff as well.

Our View: He missed four games with a strained left shoulder, but took batting practice Sunday and manager Fredi Gonzalez felt he was healthy enough to return to the starting lineup.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/21, 10:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez was named the 2008 Marline MVP, the second straight year he has been awarded the honor, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: As great as Ramirez has been (.298-32-66-119-33), the report states that several players privately commented that they thought the award should have gone to Jorge Cantu who has been a savior at the hot corner hitting .279-29-93 to help make up for the loss of Miguel Cabrera. The fantasy MVP is clearly Hanley, but in real life perhaps the honor would have looked best on the fireplace of Cantu.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/21, 3:09 PM CT
Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez took batting practice on Sunday, and believes he will be back in the starting lineup on Monday, according to FloridaMarlins.com.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/20, 6:22 PM CT

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/19, 10:58 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez may remain out of the lineup Friday due to continued soreness in his left shoulder, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: He does not believe the injury is serious, but is not going to rush himself back into action. He doesn't expect to sit out more than a game or two. Alfredo Amezaga would likely cover shortstop in his place.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/18, 4:19 PM CT

Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Nationals.

Our View: He reached 30 homers for the season, and the Marlins now have three infielders with at least 30, joining Dan Uggla and Mike Jacobs. The Marlins are the first National League team to reach the milestone.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/8, 2:40 PM CT
The Marlins are reaching a milestone as Hanley Ramirez only needs one more homer to give the club their first trio with 30 home runs, according to FishStripes.com. Mike Jacobs blasted his 30th on Sunday and Dan Uggla reached 30 on Saturday.

The Florida Marlins took another step closer to get a new stadium as Miami residents voted into public office numerous local politicians who have lended their support to a new retractable-roof stadium to be put in Little Havana, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Each politician who voted in favor of a new stadium won their election, seen as a positive sign for Miami as they try and get a new stadium built. Hopefully, that will entice more fans to come out than the 5,000 people who usually do.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/31, 9:34 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez faces off against the Mets and hurler Pedro Martinez on Sunday, which is not necessarily a great thing for Ramirez. Against Pedro, the young shortstop is just 2-for-12 (.167) with three strikeouts.

Our View: Under no circumstance should you remove Ramirez from your fantasy lineup, but don't be shocked if he does not have a big day.

Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two strikeouts in Florida's 4-1 win over Atlanta.

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/24, 11:28 AM CT
Marlins star shortstop Hanley Ramirez , who had missed the team's last two games with a bruised right thumb, returned to the lineup on Saturday night and had a solo home run among his four at-bats, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Ramirez hopes to get his Marlins back on track today against Arizona. Saturday's loss was Florida's 10th in its last 15 games. The slide has dropped the Marlins into third place in the NL East standings and six games behind the division-leading New York Mets.

Our View: Nothing like a manager overreacting to a small sample size. It's clear that Hanley is the team's best hitter, and given his skill set he should be batting third. However, he seems to have a mental block that keeps him from excelling unless he bats leadoff, so leadoff he will bat.

That brings Ramirez to a batting average of .337 through 98 at-bats, touting eight stolen bases, 18 RBIs, and 22 runs scored thus far.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/26, 9:17 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with his eighth home run of the season on Saturday.

Our View: Ramirez owners have to be ecstatic with his start to the season. He is hitting .337-8-18 with eight steals, putting him on pace to become baseball’s first 50/50 man, but obviously it’s still very early. He also ranks first in the NL in runs scored. Ramirez has hit five home runs over the last week.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/24, 2:02 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez has a poor track record against Chuck James, tonight's opposing hurler for Atlanta, according to MLB.com. Ramirez is 0-for-9 over his career against the Braves' lefty.

Our View: He played up to his ranking as a top three fantasy performer today.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/18, 9:37 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez had a hit and scored two runs for the Marlins on Friday, but it was the two SB he picked up that caught everyone's attention.

Our View: Ramirez doubled his SB output tonight, though he has still attempted only four steals in 16 games. He will need to run a lot more than this to have any shot at a third straight 50-SB season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/16, 9:19 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez responded from his first hitless game since opening day by picking up two hits with two RBI on Wednesday.

Our View: Hitting .386, Ramirez still has only two SB attempts in 14 games and his owners have to be getting a bit nervous that the team has asked him to curtail his running a bit this season.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsTuesday 4/15, 3:13 PM CT

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/11, 11:08 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a HR and two RBI and saw his average drop to .410 on Friday night. It's pretty crazy when you have two hits and your average goes down, but that just shows you how amazing Hanley has been on the young season, though he still has just two SB attempts through 10 games.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/10, 10:11 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez lost two points to his batting average (.412) with a 2-for-5 night against the Nationals. The All Star shortstop scored two runs and when at the plate only had one running in scoring position the entire night. HanRam added a stolen base, his second of the season.

Hanley Ramirez upped his average to .440 with three hits in five AB on Monday night. Ramirez blasted his second dinger of the year and had two runs scored and three RBI on the night. Maybe he doesn't need Miguel Cabrera to be successful? It's certainly a long year but nothing he has done up until this point has painted him as any thing other than a top fantasy player this season, though he does have only one SB in seven games.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/2, 7:22 AM CT
Hanley Ramirez was hit hard on the elbow by a Pedro Martinez pitch on Tuesday, but he is reportedly fine, according to the Palm Beach Post. He was able to stay in the game and showed no ill effects after being hit.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 3/31, 9:38 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez, in the home opening loss to the Mets, hit leadoff and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. There is more than one fantasy outlet who believe that not only is Ramirez the best shortstop in the league, but one of the best players, period. His production can't help but take somewhat of a hit without the big bat of Miguel Cabrera in the Marlins lineup.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/26, 2:14 PM CT
If manager Fredi Gonzalez has his way, Hanley Ramirez will run less. When asked if Ramirez would steal 50 bases this year, Gonzalez responds to MLB.com, "I hope not. The reason being, the more your body gets banged up -- the wear and tear. He's a guy who hits .300, he hits you 30 [home runs], and has a chance to drive in a lot of runs. I'm scared, because the more you attempt to steal, even if you don't steal, you're diving back to first base. You're getting beaten up pretty good... Hopefully, the home runs go up and the stolen bases go down." Speak for yourself, Fredi. Fantasy owners are still hoping to see Hanley swipe 50 bags this year.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsMonday 3/24, 10:06 AM CT

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/27, 8:22 PM CT
Hanley Ramirez will stay in the leadoff spot this year, this according to a report on MLB.com. "If the season starts tomorrow, we will lead off with Hanley," manager Fredie Gonzalez said. "We are going to leave him in that position. I think he's comfortable, and he likes it there. We'll see. If we feel like we're struggling with that middle of the lineup, then we'll address it like we did last year." If Ramirez does indeed lead off he likely will keep running as he did last year when he stole 51 bases. However, the leadoff spot would obviously hamper his ability to produce a large RBI total, but the again, if Jeremy Hermida can stay healthy and Dan Uggla can put the bat on the ball more often, Ramirez could once again score a ton of runs.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsSaturday 2/16, 1:47 PM CT

Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida MarlinsThursday 12/6, 11:31 AM CT
With Miguel Cabrera now in Detroit, the Marlins have a gaping hole in the third spot in their order. That spot could be filled by Hanley Ramirez. "I've always said that, one day, Hanley's going to be a middle-of-the-lineup type guy, maybe in '08," manager Fredi Gonzalez said in the Miami Herald. Ramirez hit third 39 times in '07 but has been used mainly in the leadoff spot. A move to the three hole would obviously increase Ramirez's RBI chances, but his runs scored and perhaps his steals totals would take a hit.
