The Phillies claimed Pete LaForest off waivers from San Diego on Tuesday. LaForest, who was designated for assignment on Friday, batted .360 (9-for-25) in 10 games for the Padres this season. He won't have any fantasy value in Philadelphia.

Pete LaForest was recalled from Triple-A Saturday, taking Michael Barrett's spot on the roster. LaForest was hitting for power in the minors (29 homers), though he's also got 72 strikeouts and a mediocre .230 average. He'll probably see limited time behind Josh Bard.
