Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/26, 4:30 PM CT
Andy Phillips has reportedly inked a one-year deal worth $400,000 with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan's Central League, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The 32-year-old infielder is a career .250 hitter in the majors, and was currently playing in the minors with Triple-A Charlotte.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/29, 10:48 PM CT
Andy Phillips hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs for Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Our View: Not a bad day at the office for the minor league veteran. He is hitting .361-4-15 and is a good candidate to be called up should Jim Thome's heel injury leave him sidelined for a significant period of time.

MLB.com is reporting that the Pirates have traded Andy Phillips to the White Sox in exchange for pitcher Michael Dubee. Phillips had been playing in Indianapolis, the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate.

Our View: Phillips is expected to be assigned to the White Sox's Triple-A affiliate, so no fantasy impact for him. He became expendable when the Pirates acquired Delwyn Young earlier this week.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxFriday 3/6, 5:40 PM CT
Andy Phillips drove in three of the Pirates' five runs Friday in a loss to the Rays.

Our View: With an effective spring, Phillips may have a chance to land a utility role with the Pirates.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxMonday 12/22, 3:05 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Pirates have signed Andy Phillips to a minor league deal.

Our View: Phillips appeared with both the Reds and Mets last season. He hit .231 in 78 at-bats and hit three home runs with 10 RBI. He will have a chance of making the major league roster in spring training.

KyPost.com reports that the Reds claimed Andy Phillips off waivers from the Mets on Thursday. The report notes that the infielder is expected to arrive in time for tonight’s 7:10 p.m. game vs the Nationals…

The Mets are giving outfielder Andy Phillips his first start with the club against the Yankees today, lining him up in left field and hitting seventh in the order, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: The Mets claimed former Yankees first baseman Andy Phillips off waivers from the Reds on Wednesday. Only 3-for-21 with the Reds, nothing would be better than getting in the mix against his old mates today.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/25, 6:29 PM CT
The Mets claimed former Yankees first baseman Andy Phillips off waivers from the Reds on Wednesday, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Phillips, who was only 3-for-21 with the Reds, follows his former Mets GM Wayne Krivsky to the Mets. The Mets take on the Yankees in the Subway Series starting in two days, so it will be interesting to see if Phillips plays a role.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/28, 1:50 PM CT
The Reds called up Andy Phillips on Wednesday, the Cincinnati Enquirer notes.

Our View: The Reds needed a first baseman after booting Scott Hatteberg on Tuesday. Phillips, 31, is nothing more than a backup with an okay right-handed bat.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxFriday 5/9, 7:43 AM CT
Andy Phillips hit a home run for the third straight day in Triple-A, according to RedReporter.com. Thursday's homer went for a grand slam, and he now has 11 RBI on the season.

Our View: Phillips was competing for a reserve spot as an infielder with the Reds during spring training, but didn't make the cut. He is benefitting from the practice in Triple-A, and is among the Reds' hottest performers in the system right now.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxFriday 1/4, 5:47 PM CT
Andy Phillips signed a minor-league deal with the Reds on Friday. Phillips, who batted .292 with two homers in 185 at-bats in 2007, will compete for a reserve job in the spring.

Andy Phillips became a free agent Friday after declining an assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, according to the AP. Phillips, who hit .292 in 185 at-bats in 2007, will catch on somewhere this offseason, but he's unlikely to be viewed as anything more than a role player by potential suitors.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxMonday 12/3, 5:53 PM CT
The Yankees designated Andy Phillips for assignment Monday to make space on the roster for the newly-signed Jose Molina. Phillips hit .292 in 185 at-bats with the Yanks in 2007, but he never fit into their long-term plans. No matter where he lands, it's unlikely he'll be anything more than a role player.

The Yankees moved Andy Phillips from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL on Sunday. He was already expected to miss the remainder of the season following surgery that repaired a broken wrist, so this move just makes it formal.
Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/3, 2:59 PM CT
Yankees first baseman Andy Phillips will undergo surgery on his broken right wrist and likely miss the rest of the regular season. "It feels like somebody hit me a with a hammer," he told the Associated Press. Phillips was hit with a pitch during Sunday’s game against the Devil Rays. Andy Phillips, 3B, Chicago White SoxMonday 3/5, 9:00 AM CT
Andy Phillips has been away from the Yankees the past four days to be with his mother, who was seriously injured in a car crash on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News. Manager Joe Torre said Phillips' absence won't put him behind Josh Phelps in the competition to be part of the platoon at first base. "It's tough to say you're putting yourself in jeopardy when he's sitting at his mom's bedside," Torre said yesterday. "The competition is based on, if we have a better option than Andy. We have stuff in the bank with Andy. I guess you could say he has a little bit of an edge."
