The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Orioles have signed outfielder Victor Diaz to a minor league deal. Diaz will join the team's Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk.

Our View: Diaz looks like nothing more than organizational depth for the O's at this point, and he has bounced around the league for a few years now. It would be a surprise to see him in a major league uniform this season, even for the lowly Orioles.

Victor Diaz has been cut by the Astros, among others. This according to the Houston Chronicle. Other notable players cut were pitchers Mike DeJean and Mark McLemore. With Diaz gone, the final outfield spot is being fought for by Reggie Abercrombie and Jose Cruz.

Victor Diaz is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Friday when Mark Teixeira comes off the DL, the Dallas Morning News reports. Diaz did not travel with the Rangers to Anaheim.

Victor Diaz was optioned to Triple-A on Friday. Diaz hit .308 with two homers in 26 spring at-bats, but the presence of Sammy Sosa made it next to impossible for Diaz to make the club out of camp.

Rangers manager Buck Showalter said there are no plans to bring Victor Diaz up to the big leagues at this time, according to the Star-Telegram. Diaz was acquired from the Mets on Wednesday and assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma.

The Rangers acquired Victor Diaz from the Mets on Wednesday in exchange for minor league catcher Mike Nickeas, according to the AP. Diaz will be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma, but he'll be called up once rosters expand. Diaz hit just .182 (2-for-11) with the Mets this season.
