Doug Waechter, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/8, 6:53 PM CT
Doug Waechter has been transferred to the 60-day DL by the Royals, according to TSN.

Our View: Waechter is done for 2009 following right shoulder surgery to repair his labrum. He held a poor 8.44 ERA over 5.1 innings of relief this season.

Royals beat writer Bob Dutton is reporting on his Twitter page that the team has placed pitcher Doug Waechter on the 15-day DL with a strained right elbow. Waechter's roster spot will be assumed by the newly activated Gil Meche.

Our View: Waechter has thrown only 5.1 innings this season, and he allowed three runs in 0.1 innings pitched in his last appearance on Tuesday. No word on the severity of the injury, but he has no fantasy value regardless of whether or not he returns this season.

Doug Waechter has started a throwing program and will report to the Royals' complex in Arizona at some point this weekend, according to the Associated Press. He is recovering from a strained right elbow.

Our View: The 28-year-old has a 5.29 career ERA in the majors, and is not worth waiting for as a middle reliever.

Doug Waechter has suffered a setback in his recovery from a strained elbow, as he was forced to exit a rehab appearance with Triple-A Omaha Tuesday due to discomfort in his left side, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: He had a chance to return from the DL this weekend, but he will now likely be delayed. He has little fantasy value as a middle reliever, but we will keep you posted on his status.

Doug Waechter, out with an elbow strain, said that his elbow feels fine after throwing in a rehab assignment a few days ago, according the MLB.com.

Our View: Waechter was effective last season with a 3.69 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 63.1 innings last season, but even when healthy his value is merely an average major league arm that shouldn't be counted on.

Doug Waechter was encouraged that his strained right elbow is improving after throwing 30 pitches in a bullpen session today, according to MLB.com. He said, "It felt great, it felt good. I was pumped, really excited how I felt and it was real encouraging to me. I feel as good as I did coming into spring training before I had the finger issue."

Our View: Skipper Trey Hillman indicated that Waechter will likely start a minor league rehab assignment when he is ready to pitch. He could return to Kansas City in mid-May, but his fantasy value is limited as a middle reliever.

Doug Waechter has been placed on the 15-day DL with a lateral strain in his right elbow, according to MLB.com. He will be replaced on the roster by Brian Bannister.

Our View: Waechter has given up two runs, both solo shots, in his four innings of work so far this season. He told the Royals he could pitch through the injury, but the team opted to put him on the DL.

Doug Waechter has signed with the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star. GM Dayton Moore said, "Doug Waechter has power to his game. He’s primarily been a starter for his whole career. Last year was his first year in the bullpen and right-handers hit .216 against him. Our scouts feel he has better days ahead of him." His deal is worth $640,000 and includes performance bonuses.

Our View: The 27-year-old righty held a decent 1.33 WHIP over 63.1 innings of relief with Florida in 2008. This looks to be a favorable signing for the Royals' bullpen.

Marlins reliever Doug Waechter was taken off the team's 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Waechter was not bad this year for Florida, throwing 63.1 innings with an ERA of 3.69 and WHIP of 1.33. He can elect to become a free agent instead of report to the minors, and the guess here is that is exactly what will happen.

Doug Waechter has been activated from the DL following his bout with right rotator cuff inflammation, according to the AP. The Marlins placed lefthander Renyel Pinto on the 15-day DL as the corresponding move.

Our View: Waechter has fared well with the Marlins this season (1.21 WHIP over 56.1 innings) and is worth consideration in deeper NL-only leagues that use middle men.

Doug Waechter was placed on the DL on Monday because of right rotator cuff inflammation, according to the Associated Press. Logan Kensing has been recalled to take his roster spot.

Our View: Waechter has been a solid contributor this year with a 3.51 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 2.32 K/BB mark, so his loss will certainly be felt in Florida, that is unless youngster Kensing comes through.

Doug Waechter hasn't pitched since last Wednesday as he is dealing with a sore right shoulder, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: He may not pitch again soon, but is hoping the rest will allow him to avoid the DL.
