Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/18, 3:16 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got clobbered by Toronto for six earned runs (seven total) off seven hits (three home runs) and three walks over three innings.

Our View: Guthrie has struggled mightily in spring thus far. Given that he's a borderline AL-only commodity regardless, this could be reason not to draft him altogether.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/13, 3:08 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got tattooed by the Yankees on Saturday, allowing eight hits and four runs in just 3.1 innings of work.

Our View: His spring ERA is now 5.87. He's not exactly begging to be proclaimed a solid sleeper for 2010. Monitor him only in AL-only leagues for the time being.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 2/12, 4:21 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie has agreed to a one-year deal with the Orioles to avoid arbitration, according to MLB Fanhouse on twitter. It is believed to be worth $3MM.

Our View: Guthrie held a poor 5.04 ERA over 200 innings with Baltimore in 2009, and will be looking to bounce back in 2010 - especially while trying to land a longer-team deal.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 10/4, 4:46 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie held the Blue Jays to four runs on nine hits and two walks over seven innings on Sunday, but did not earn a decision as the O's won it 5-4 with a run in the 11th.

Our View: 2009 represented a disappointing follow up to two pretty good seasons for Guthrie. After posting ERA totals of 3.70 and 3.63 in 2007 and 2008 respectively he finished this year with a depressing 5.04 mark.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/29, 9:40 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie gave up three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 3-1 loss at Tampa Bay. He had one walk with four strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie had a decent outing, but was handed a loss due to poor run support. He is 0-4 over his last four starts, and is 10-17 for the season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/23, 8:59 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got lit up in Toronto on Wednesday night, allowing seven runs (five earned) in seven innings, as Baltimore lost 7-3.

Our View: Guthrie is now 10-16 with a 5.10 ERA on the season, a huge disappointment after the 3.63 ERA he posted in 30 starts last season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 9/18, 9:09 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie gave up three earned runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings in Friday's 3-1 loss to Boston at Camden Yards. He had three walks with one strikeout.

Our View: Guthrie had a decent performance, but was handed a loss due to poor run support. He allowed three or less earned runs in five of his last six starts.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/13, 4:19 PM CT
The Yankees were too much for Jeremy Guthrie on Sunday, but that's nothing new. The right-hander allowed five runs on 12 hits and three walks over just 5.2 innings in a 13-3 loss.

Our View: Guthrie is now 10-14 on the season and sports a 5.06 ERA. Last season he was 10-12, but the ERA was significantly better at 3.63. He's been a disappointment to say the least.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/6, 5:16 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie silenced the Rangers' potent lineup on Sunday, allowing no runs while striking out six in seven innings, as the Orioles blanked Texas 7-0 at home.

Our View: The solid outing brought Guthrie's ERA down below 5.00 for the first time since May 26. That fact should speak for itself.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/31, 9:05 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie only allowed two earned runs on four hits over six innings in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees at Camden Yards. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie pitched well tonight, but was forced to take a loss due to poor run support from his teammates. He had his two-game winning streak snapped, and is 9-13 with a 5.17 ERA.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/26, 10:27 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was in control from the hill in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Minnesota, as he only surrendered one earned run on six hits over seven innings. He had no walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie earned his ninth win of the season and is hot right now, as he only allowed one earned run in each of his last two starts (14 innings).
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/22, 12:09 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie held the White Sox to one run on six hits and two walks over seven innings on Friday, which was good enough to earn his eighth win of the season. He fanned a pair in the 5-1 victory.

Our View: Guthrie has a hard time putting together back to back solid starts, so you may want to bench him his next time out. Before Friday's outing he allowed seven runs over just 5.2 innings. Something to think about.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/16, 5:55 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got shelled by the Angels on Sunday. He allowed seven runs on ten hits and two walks over just 5.2 innings. The game was decided after 13 innings, so Guthrie did not factor in the decision.

Our View: Guthrie has had just two quality starts in the last two months and his ERA sits at an unhealthy 5.66. He's a risky fantasy play in any format at this point.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/10, 10:09 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was rocked for five earned runs on 11 hits over 4.2 innings in Monday's 9-1 loss to Oakland at Camden Yards. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie falls to 7-12, and suffered a loss in each of his last four starts - allowing five or more earned runs three times over the span. He is only an option for AL-only leagues right now.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/5, 8:46 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie gave up three earned runs on six hits over 7.1 innings in Wednesday's 4-2 loss at Detroit. He had two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie suffered his 11th loss of the season with the struggling Orioles, and his ERA climbs to 5.28. He has taken a loss in three straight starts, allowing 14 earned runs over the span. He will remain an unstable fantasy option for his next trip to the hill.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/31, 9:05 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was lit up for six earned runs on nine hits over 6.2 innings in Friday's 6-5 loss to Boston at Camden Yards. He had two walks and four strikeouts, and was abused for three homers.

Our View: Guthrie falls to 7-10, and allowed five earned runs in three of his five starts in July. He is only worth using in AL-only leagues for his next start.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/29, 11:11 PM CT
There are several teams interested in Jeremy Guthrie, according to FOX Sports.

Our View: He is 7-9 with a 5.21 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, but the Orioles are believed to be unlikely to trade him. He held a more respectable 3.63 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 2008.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 7/25, 11:09 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie allowed five earned runs on eight hits and three walks over 6.2 innings and took the loss as the Orioles fell to the Red Sox 7-2 Saturday.

Our View: Guthrie now has a 5.21 ERA on the season, and despite a strong start on July 19th he's been bad pretty much all year. A few solid outings spread across four months isn't enough to keep him in fantasy rotations.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/19, 5:50 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was very impressive on Sunday in the Orioles' 10-2 win over the White Sox. Guthrie went eight innings and allowed two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out five. Guthrie is now 7-8 on the year.

Our View: Guthrie's ERA is still at 5.12 after this start, which shows that days like this are the exception rather than the rule. He has it in him to produce on regular basis, but he just hasn't found a way to put it together every time out. Pitching for the O's doesn't help much either, however.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/10, 4:09 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie will miss his next scheduled start Sunday due to a virus, according to MASN Sports.

Our View: Brad Bergesen will take Guthrie's turn in the rotation Sunday against Toronto. Baltimore is hopeful that Guthrie won't need to miss more than one start.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/8, 12:16 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie managed to throw 58 pitches in just 2.1 innings of work on Tuesday, but the Orioles still punished the Mariners 12-4.

Our View: Guthrie has been mediocre most of 2009, and isn't worth owning unless you are interested in seeing your team ERA and WHIP go up.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/2, 11:29 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was lit up for five earned runs on nine hits over seven innings in Thursday's 5-2 loss at the Angels. He had two walks and five strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Guthrie is now 6-8 with a 5.20 ERA. He had his two-game winning streak snapped, and was dealt a loss in four of his last six starts. He should only be used in deeper fantasy leagues for his next battle from the mound.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 6/27, 9:38 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was far from spectacular on Saturday, giving up three runs off five hits and three walks with just two strikeouts against Washington, but was still good enough for the win, improving to 6-7 on the year.

Our View: Baltimore's "ace" is a fringe fantasy player in most leagues, and he showed why with a mediocre performance against Washington following a dominant showing against the Phillies. Continue to start him with caution.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/21, 5:11 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was in control from the bump in Sunday's 2-1 win at Philadelphia, as he only allowed one earned run on three hits over seven innings. He had two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie improves to 5-7, and snaps a three-game losing streak. His five wins currently lead the Orioles, and he pitched like an ace today.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/16, 9:10 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie struggled in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Mets at Camden Yards, as he gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits over 6.1 innings. He had two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie falls to 4-7 for the season, and has lost in each of his last three starts. He should only be used in AL-only leagues for his next outing.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/5, 11:34 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was rocked for six earned runs on seven hits over a mere two thirds of an inning in Friday's 9-1 loss at Oakland. He had no walks or strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie now has a losing record at 4-5, with a 5.61 ERA. He remains too unstable to employ outside of deeper fantasy leagues.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/5, 8:53 AM CT
FoxSports.com is reporting that the Orioles are prepared to trade starter Jeremy Guthrie if the right opportunity arises. The team has said that they would only be willing to move Guthrie if they receive an overwhelming offer from another team.

Our View: Guthrie has been very good at times for the Orioles this season, but he is inconsistent. Given the right opportunity, he could be a good fantasy pitcher, but it is doubtful the O's move him this season. He is still fairly inexpensive, so the team would have to get a very serious offer to even think about a trade. It is doubtful someone would be willing to give up enough to satisfy the O's.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/30, 9:25 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie gave up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Saturday's 6-3 loss to Detroit at Camden Yards. He had one walk and racked up 10 strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie left the game tied 3-3, and received a no-decision rather than a loss. He gave up two homers tonight, and already allowed 13 for the season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 5/25, 3:36 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie only allowed one earned run on seven hits over seven innings in Monday's 4-1 over the Jays at Camden Yards. He issued one walk and fired four strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie evened his season mark to 4-4, with three of his wins coming at home. Fantasy owners should be very pleased with his outing today.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/20, 9:11 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie struggled again on Wednesday as the Orioles fell to the Yankees' 11-4. Guthrie went seven innings and allowed five runs on five hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Guthrie wasn't terrible tonight, but he is still giving up too many home runs. Guthrie gave up back-to-back-to-back home runs in the second to Swisher, Cano, and Cabrera. Guthrie continues to underachieve, and until he proves he can put together consistent starts he should not be owned.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/14, 10:53 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got a lot of help from his offense on Thursday as he picked up his third win of the season. Guthrie went five innings and allowed four runs on six hits while walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Guthrie was sub-par again tonight, but his offense gave him nine runs of support. Guthrie has underachieved so far this season, and while he was once a mixed league option, he is now only an average AL-only pitcher.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/8, 9:45 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie gave up a three-run homer to A-Rod in the first inning, but settled in after that to have a nice start. He allowed just those three runs and scattered seven hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight. However, he was handed the loss as the O's fell 4-0 to the Yankees.

Our View: Guthrie has been sub par this season, but he showed some perseverance after getting down early today. The eight Ks were a surprising bonus for fantasy owners as he was sporting just a 4.79 K/9 coming into the game.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/3, 2:54 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie threw eight innings on Sunday, but he also took the loss as the Orioles fell to the Blue Jays 4-3. Guthrie gave up four runs on six hits while walking one and striking out three.

Our View: Guthrie was hurt by two long balls today, but it is getting to a point where he is losing value every time he pitches. If you have him right now, you may want to either find another option or play him in good matchups only.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/22, 9:13 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was pounded by the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing five runs on eight hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out two. His ERA now sits at 5.16 on the season.

Our View: Guthrie was hit with his first loss of the season today, but he has been a bit iffy in his last two outings. He is still an option in all leagues, but watch to see how he fares in his next few starts.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/11, 11:17 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was brilliant in his start against the Rays on Saturday. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and no walks while striking out two in the Orioles 6-0 win.

Our View: Guthrie was solid in his first start, but this one put him over the top. He looks sharp, but beware of the O's early season push. It usually evaporates after April and the team falls apart. Guthrie would likely fall with them.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/9, 9:55 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie will stay on regular rest and pitch Saturday against the Rays, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: That will delay Adam Eaton's season debut until Sunday. Guthrie earned a win on opening day against the Yankees.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/6, 8:32 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie scattered seven hits and three walks while allowing three runs in the Orioles' 10-5 win over the Yankees on Monday. He struck out three in the outing.

Our View: Guthrie managed a respectable 3.63 ERA a season ago and that was good enough to make him the default ace on the Orioles weak staff. He was roughed up throughout spring training but he has to consider today's start a successful start to 2009.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/1, 4:53 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got blasted by the Marlins on Wednesday, allowing eight runs on ten hits in only four innings. He was marked with his second loss of the spring.

Our View: Baltimore's "ace" was miserable once again this spring. He now has a 10.57 ERA since returning from the WBC and doesn't look like he even knows what he's doing out there. He may be Baltimore's best pitcher, but he'll be your worst if you draft him.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/27, 3:47 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie got rocked by the Marlins on Friday, giving up six runs of six hits and two walks while striking out five in 4.2 innings.

Our View: Guthrie has been awful for Baltimore since returning from the World Baseball Classic, as he looked equally helpless against Minnesota on Monday. He's the only semi-reliable starter on Baltimore's staff, so for the sake of the Orioles having a rotation ERA that doesn't reach double digits, they have to hope Guthrie can get past his issues by Opening Day.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/23, 3:17 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was rocked for four earned runs on five hits over 3.2 innings in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Twins, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: This was a tough outing for Guthrie, but the Orioles' No. 1 starter is still worth a look as a flier for mixed leagues.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/19, 12:24 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie has been asked to leave the World Baseball Classic by the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Guthrie is not expected to pitch this weekend for Team USA in the semifinals or finals of the WBC, so the Orioles want him to return so he can begin preparing to take the hill on opening day as their No. 1 starter.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/11, 11:15 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was hit hard in two innings of work as USA lost to Venezuela 5-3 on Wednesday. He gave up four earned runs on seven hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie is expected to be the ace of the Orioles staff, but that doesn't necessarily make him a stropng play in fantasy leagues. He finished last season poorly but he was the only Orioles pitcher to have a credible season in 2008.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/8, 11:24 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Orioles worth $650,000, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Guthrie is expected to be the ace of the Orioles' pitching staff this season, but he should not be overvalued on fantasy draft day, namely as he won't be a solid source for strikeouts or potentially even wins.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 1/17, 8:59 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie will be named to Team USA's 45-man roster for the World Baseball Classic, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Fellow starting pitchers Jake Peavy, Roy Oswalt and John Lackey have already committed to the team.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/28, 3:29 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie allowed three earned runs on six hits over a mere four innings in Sunday's 10-1 loss to the Jays, with one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: He failed to even his record as falls to 10-12. He still ends the season with a favorable 3.63 ERA. He held a solid 1.22 WHIP heading into the game as well.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/27, 5:00 PM CT
The Orioles activated Jeremy Guthrie from the DL on Saturday so he can make the start in the Orioles final game of the season on Sunday, according to the AP.

Our View: It has been since late August that Guthrie has started but fantasy owners who stuck with him will get one more start.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/25, 7:38 AM CT
Orioles hurler Jeremy Guthrie will make the start in the team's regular season finale against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Guthrie has not started since late August due to a shoulder impingement. Fantasy owners will get to utilize one more performance from his excellent season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/23, 10:31 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie, who is dealing with a right shoulder inpingement, threw a pen session Monday and is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Barring a setback, he'll take the hill for his final start this weekend against Toronto.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/21, 10:08 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie will have his next turn in the rotation skipped due to his shoulder issues, according to the Orioles Official Website. Alfredo Simon will start the second game of the Orioles double header with the Rays.

Our View: Guthrie, who has been out since late August, has expressed a desire to make one more starts, but would it make any sense for the club to risk it's top starter for one meaningless start?
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/20, 2:02 PM CT
Orioles right-hander Jeremy Guthrie threw a bullpen session on Saturday, and though he is supposed to make a start on Tuesday, it is possible that the team will skip his turn, according to Orioles.com.

Our View: Guthrie has been dealing with shoulder fatigue, and may choose to play it safe with their best pitcher. The team is completely out of any playoff race, so the smart thing to do may be shut him down for the year.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/18, 9:20 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie, who is on the DL with a right shoulder impingement, is slated to throw a bullpen session Saturday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The team remains hopeful he can return to Baltimore to pitch one of the games in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays. He holds a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 29 starts this season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/17, 9:11 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie is on the DL with a right shoulder impingement, but hopes to pith next Tuesday in one of the games in a doubleheader against Tampa Bay, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Guthrie held a favorable 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 29 starts this season, and it appears that fantasy owners may get one more game out of him.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/15, 8:33 PM CT
The Baltimore Orioles have placed starter Jeremy Guthrie on the 15-day DL because of an injured shoulder, according to the AP.

Our View: Guthrie has had a solid year, but it appears his 2008 season is over.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/14, 9:05 AM CT
The Washington Post reports Guthrie (tired arm) is hoping to throw a side session this week and return before the end of the season.

Our View: Until Guthrie is officially done for the year, he is worth hanging onto in fantasy leagues.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 9/12, 7:26 PM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that Orioles' manager Dave Trembley is getting close to shutting down starter Jeremy Guthrie for the year. Guthrie hasn't pitched in a couple of weeks, so he would have to have a sideline workout before making another start. Trembley said if that hasn't happened by the time the Orioles get to Toronto next week, that will probably be it for Guthrie in 2008.

Our View: In Guthrie's two major league seasons with Baltimore his numbers look good but his record represents the type of team he is stuck on. His ERA is just 3.63 but his record is a meager 17-16 despite 55 starts.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/11, 11:00 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie has been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday due to a tired arm. Garrett Olson will get the start in place of Guthrie on Saturday, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: With only a few starts left for Guthrie the Orioles might just go ahead and choose to shut him down for the year. He has already thrown a career-high 186.2 innings.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/11, 9:22 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie threw in the bullpen on Thursday but it is doubtful to make his scheduled start on Saturday because of his sore/tired shoulder, according to the Baltimore Sun. As of now no starter has been announced.

Our View: Guthrie has already thrown a career-high 186.2 innings, so the Orioles will certainly not rush him back to the hill. If this situation lasts into next week, the team might as well shut him down to avoid damaging the arm of their best hurler.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/10, 7:50 AM CT
Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie missed his last start with tonsillitis, but he is also dealing with a tired right shoulder and may miss his next start, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Despite his mediocre 10-11 record, Guthrie has been solid for fantasy owners because of his peripherals. The right-hander has an ERA of 3.57 and WHIP of 1.22.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/9, 8:32 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie has been scratched from Tuesday's start against the Indians due to the flu, according to the AP.

Our View: Guthrie is missing his second straight start as his last outing was skipped due to arm fatigue. Radhames Liz will replace Guthrie today.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/2, 7:51 PM CT
The Orioles will skip Jeremy Guthrie's next start, this according to the team website. The move is precautionary. The staff wants to make sure that they don't overwork their opening day starter.

Our View: Lance Cormier appears to be the most likely candidate to replace Guthrie.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/18, 10:03 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie walked five batters Monday but still managed a solid outing, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out four over seven innings. He was outdueled by Jon Lester, though, and picked up his ninth loss.

Our View: There might not be a more underrated pitcher in baseball than Guthrie. He lowered his ERA to 3.15 tonight and has a 1.16 WHIP to go along with it.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/13, 9:26 PM CT
Baltimore RHP Jeremy Guthrie was strong off the hill in support of the O's 6-1 win over the Cleveland Indians tonight, pitching seven innings to allow one run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: That's four consecutive wins for Guthrie, going at least six innings in all with just one earned run allowed in each.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/9, 8:20 AM CT
Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie has been on fire as of late, and in his last three starts he is 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA, according to the Washington Times. “The guy's getting recognized as a legitimate, top-of-the-rotation guy for any team in the big leagues," O's manager Dave Trembley said.

Our View: People pay little attention to Guthrie, but it will be hard for fantasy owners to ignore his over 3.26 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/8, 9:23 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie allowed just one run in over seven innings on Friday night as he and the Orioles defeated the Rangers 9-1.

Our View: Guthrie continues to be one of the most unheralded hurlers in the league despite a 9-8 record. With the victory Guthrie lowered his ERA to 3.26 and his WHIP to 1.17, standout numbers for a guy who gets little love.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/2, 11:46 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was dominant on the hill in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Mariners, as he only allowed one earned run on four hits over nine innings, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: He evened his record to 8-8 and notched his first complete game of the season. He has only allowed one earned run in back-to-back starts, and should remain active in fantasy lineups for the upcoming week.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/28, 10:12 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie beat the Yankees on Monday night by allowing just one run in 6.1 innings. He struck out four and allowed three hits while lowering his ERA to 3.49.

Our View: Its good to see Guthrie get some run support. He has pitched well enough this season have a much better record than his 7-8 mark. He continues to be a very good major league pitcher.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/24, 12:34 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie went 5.2 innings and allowed just two earned runs, but picked up his eighth loss of the season on Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Our View: Guthrie's ERA is a mere 3.52 but he carries a 6-8 record thru 22 starts. Such is the life of an Orioles pitcher.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/18, 9:14 PM CT
Baltimore RHP Jeremy Guthrie wasn't terribly impressive on the mound this evening, but he pitched well enough to get his Orioles the 7-4 win over Detroit. Guthrie pitched six innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on 12 hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: That's three wins and two no-decisions for Guthrie over his last five starts. However, in all three wins he has surrended four earned runs.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/10, 9:37 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie wasn't involved in the decision on Thursday, but he still held the Blue Jays to two runs, one earned, over seven innings.

Our View: Guthrie has only five wins on the year, but he has been one of the most solid AL starting pitchers this season with a 3.49 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Guthrie continues to operate as a below the radar innings eater worthy of running out there every start.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/4, 7:05 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie allowed four earned runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings in Friday's 10-4 win over Texas at Camden Yards, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Guthrie improves to 5-7, and is 2-0 over his last four starts.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 6/18, 9:09 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out eight over eight innings on Wednesday night.

Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 6/2, 9:14 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie had another sharp outing on Monday. He held the Red Sox scoreless for five innings before allowing a run in the sixth and seven frames. Guthrie finished with eight hits and two runs served up over 6.1 innings, but he took a no-decision. It was his fifth straight quality start.

Our View: The run support for Guthrie has been terrible this year. The Orioles scored 2, 0, and 1 runs in his previous three showings, and they waited until the eighth inning to get hot on Monday. Guthrie is a decent back-end option in larger mixed leagues despite the 2-6 record.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 6/2, 11:31 AM CT

Jeremy Guthrie picked up the no-decision on Wednesday as he allowed four runs over 5.2 innings to the A's. Guthrie struck out six while allowing eight base runners.

Our View: Guthrie had gone six straight starts allowing three or less runs, and this was the fourth straight time he has put up at least five K. Look for him to continue to post solid but unremarkable numbers.

Jeremy Guthrie struggled on Friday as he allowed four runs and eight hits in just 4.2 innings in his first game in nine days, this according to the AP. “I was a little rusty out there, but for the most part I threw strikes,” Guthrie said. “I had a tough time putting a couple guys away and that led to a couple hits, but not walking anybody was real good." Guthrie is about as good a starter as the Orioles have this season, but his production this season is a big time concern after he fell apart after the all-star break (5.03 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) last year.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 1/17, 10:23 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie agreed to a one-year, $770,000 contract with the Orioles on Wednesday. Guthrie sported a fine 3.70 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 32 games (26 starts) in 2007, but a 5.03 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in the second half last year is certainly cause for concern.

Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/12, 10:45 AM CT
The Orioles are hopeful that Jeremy Guthrie, who is battling a rib cage injury will pitch again before the season ends, according to the Baltimore Sun. It's still unclear as to when he might be able to rejoin the Orioles.

Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/10, 5:23 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie was forced to exit Sunday's game due to a strained oblique muscle. "It's just unfortunate that it happened," Orioles manager Dave Trembley told the Baltimore Sun. "Guthrie's had a great rookie campaign. It's unfortunate that the timing of this is at this point in time in the season when our pitching has been so thin." Exactly. With only a few weeks left in the season, it's highly unlikely that he will be able to pitch again in a game.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 6/16, 6:33 AM CT
The Orioles are keeping a close eye on Jeremy Guthrie, so he doesn't get burned out. He pulled himself out of Thursday's game after throwing 92 pitches, according to the Baltimore Sun. "You're not going to force a guy - especially as good as he's been pitching - to go back out there and hurt himself," manager Sam Perlozzo said. Guthrie had already made it through seven innings and allowed one run on those 92 pitches, and he's worked at least seven innings each of his past seven starts, which shows why the Orioles plan to baby him when necessary. They want to keep him fresh for the long haul.

Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/15, 5:41 AM CT
Jeremy Guthrie will start Sunday for the Orioles, replacing the injured Jaret Wright, according to the Baltimore Sun. However, there's a realistic chance the game could be rained out, in which case his start might simply be skipped. Guthrie's posted a 3.19 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings this season.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/12, 5:01 PM CT
Jeremy Guthrie is the leading candidate to fill in for the injured Jaret Wright on Sunday, according to the AP. Guthrie has a 3.18 ERA over 5 2/3 innings this season. "If I start, great. Hopefully I can pitch as well as Jaret did his last outing," Guthrie said. Guthrie threw three innings on Tuesday in his last appearance, and would be ready to start Sunday if not forced into action on Thursday or Friday. "If he has to pitch long, then we'll have another plan to make," manager Sam Perlozzo said.
Jeremy Guthrie, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 1/31, 10:21 AM CT
The Orioles claimed Jeremy Guthrie off waivers from the Indians last week, and there's a good chance he'll make the team, according to the Baltimore Sun. If Guthrie is not placed on the opening day roster, he'll have to be exposed to waivers before being sent to the minors, and he probably would not clear waivers. Guthrie will most likely compete for a bullpen job, but there's an outside chance that he could beat out Adam Loewen for the final rotation spot.
