James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 9/23, 9:20 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Wednesday, as the Dodgers lost 5-4 in Washington D.C.

Our View: With just ten games remaining for the Dodgers in 2009, Loney needs to drive in a run a game to reach 100 RBI on the season.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/19, 7:37 PM CT
James Loney led the offensive charge for the Dodgers on Saturday. He went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI a 12-1 blowout of the Giants.

Our View: Loney only has 13 homers on the season, but he's still been extremely productive. He has 87 RBI, and with 12 already this month, he's just three away from his career high.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/12, 11:27 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-4 with his 12th home run on Saturday, as Los Angeles routed the Giants 9-1 in San Francisco.

Our View: With 85 RBI, Loney is now just five off the career-high he established last season.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 8/17, 11:58 PM CT
James Loney went 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI in tonight's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals at Dodger Stadium. He also swiped a base.

Our View: Loney is only hitting .227 over 53 at-bats this month, after holding a solid .311 average in July. Hopefully he will start to swing the bat well again down the stretch for fantasy owners.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/4, 12:25 AM CT
James Loney went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in tonight's 6-5 loss to the Brewers at Dodger Stadium. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: Loney has seven hits and five RBI over three games so far in August, and raised his season average to .293. He now currently leads the Dodgers with 68 RBI as well.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/30, 8:07 AM CT
James Loney went 4-for-7 with an RBI on Tuesday, but he couldn't will the Dodgers to overcome the Cardinals, who won 3-2 in 15 innings in St. Louis.

Our View: The RBI was vintage Loney, aka not a home run. His last 11 runs driven in all have come via methods besides homering.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/26, 6:56 PM CT
James Loney went 3-for-5 with three RBI on Sunday as the Dodgers tried to come back from an early 8-0 deficit, but they fell just short, losing 8-6 to the Marlins at home.

Our View: Loney drove in his runs in his usual fashion, not via the home run, and now has 62 on the season. He's a good candidate to post his first 100 RBI campaign in 2009.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/22, 12:28 AM CT
James Loney went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI on Tuesday, helping the Dodgers to a 12-3 rout over the Reds.

Our View: It was only Loney's second multi-RBI game of the month. He produces a decent amount of offense, but not the amount you would usually want from a first baseman.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 6/23, 10:56 PM CT
James Loney homered for the third time in four games on Tuesday after hitting only two in his first 68 games of the season.

Our View: Loney was due for a power correction soon, and should finish the season with somewhere around 13-15 home runs.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/4, 12:20 AM CT
James Loney hit third in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Arizona as Orlando Hudson got the night off. He came through as he scored the games only run. He went 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk.

Our View: Hudson is pretty beat up right now, meaning there could be some more appearances for Loney in the three-hole. He has been a strong run producer this season, as evidenced by his 41 RBI.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/3, 12:16 AM CT
James Loney carried the Dodgers in Tuesday's 6-5 win over Arizona at home, as he went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Our View: Loney has five RBI over his last three games. Loney is only hitting .284, but leads the Dodgers with 41 RBI.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/29, 4:49 PM CT
James Loney struck out four times in four at-bats on in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Cubs.

Our View: Loney wore the collar in this one, be he had been very good prior to getting worked over by Ted Lilly on Friday. The four strikeout performance snapped an 11-game hitting streak for the Dodger first baseman that saw his average climb from .264 to .298.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/27, 5:58 PM CT
James Loney was 2-for-5 and drove in four runs in the Dodgers' 8-6 win over the Rockies.

Our View: Loney has his average up to .293 and he's now driven in 36. He won't give you what most first baseman will in the power department, but he's a fine contributor in other categories.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/13, 9:58 PM CT
It took 130 at-bats, but James Loney finally hit his first home run on Wednesday. The Dodger first baseman was 3-for-5 with four RBI in a 9-2 win over the Philles.

Our View: Loney is off to a sluggish start this season hitting just .277, but he has driven in 25 runners despite his lack of power. Still, there are better first base options out there.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/26, 7:32 PM CT
James Loney was 3-for-5 with three runs driven in on Sunday in a losing effort as the Dodgers got blasted by the Rockies 10-4.

Our View: Loney's three hit day boosted his average to .319 and he's now driven in 14 on the season, but the Dodger first baseman has yet to hit a ball out of the park. Loney is an asset to LA, but is a player with little power at a stacked fantasy position. His value is suspect in mixed leagues as long as he's manning first base.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 4/17, 6:53 PM CT
Mark Loretta will start at first base on Friday against the Rockies and southpaw Jorge De La Rosa, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. James Loney is on the bench.

Our View: Loney is only 1-for-8 against southpaws this season, but it's still a little frustrating to see him on the bench tonight. He is 5-for-9 against De La Rosa in his career.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/6, 9:18 PM CT
James Loney was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 4-1 win over Jake Peavy and the Padres. He hit sixth for the Dodgers.

Our View: Loney won't blow you away with power numbers, but he is a reliable hitter with a good batting eye and outstanding glove. He is an average fantasy first baseman, but he holds more upside than most of the other players in his tier.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/5, 7:58 PM CT
James Loney was 2-for-2 with a double and drove in the Dodgers' lone run in the Cactus League finale on Sunday against the Giants.

Our View: Loney is a good contact hitter and run producer, but lacks the big pop that fantasy owners are looking for out of their first baseman. Unfortunately his position handcuffs him. Were he a second baseman he'd be fantasy gold. Now he'll have to settle for pyrite.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 3/10, 6:15 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored Tuesday against Arizona.

Our View: Loney put up solid stats a season ago (.289, 13, 90), but he lacks the elite numbers that characterize the host of top-notch first basemen across the NL (Pujols, Berkman, Howard).
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 10/5, 12:15 AM CT
James Loney went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of the NLDS at Dodger Stadium.

Our View: The Dodgers swept the Cubs 3-0 and will await the winner of the other series between Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Loney only hit .214, but collected six RBI over the three wins.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 10/1, 8:54 PM CT
James Loney hit a grand slam on his only hit of the night as the Dodgers took home field advantage from the Cubs in a 7-2 victory on Wednesday.

Our View: The shot came in the fifth off of Ryan Dempster and put the Dodgers ahead for good. Loney had 13 regular season homers in 161 games.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 9/15, 9:17 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's win over the Pirates.

Our View: Loney could end this season at .300 and with around 100 RBI, but it hasn't been the breakout year fantasy owners envisioned. The first baseman simply hasn't developed much power yet. Loney is only 24, though, so maybe he can grow into more homers next year.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 9/12, 11:20 PM CT
James Loney stepped into the lineup after lefthander Jeff Francis was pulled and went 2-for-2 with three RBI on Friday night.

Our View: Manager Joe Torre may continue to start Nomar Garciaparra against lefties as Loney has struggled against them in the second half of the season.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 8/30, 12:52 AM CT
James Loney went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-3 loss to Arizona. His hit was a single.

Our View: Loney maintains a .300 batting average, and has extended his hitting streak to nine games, with five RBI over the span.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/21, 5:03 PM CT
James Loney returned to the Dodgers lineup today and sparked the offense with a home run and two RBIs to help the Dodgers defeat the visiting Rockies 3-1.

Our View: The arrival of ManRam has changed the face of this offense, expect Loney to continue hitting for average with plenty of opportunities for RBIs.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/20, 8:47 PM CT
James Loney is not in tonight's starting lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The team will square off against the Colorado Rockies and hurler Jeff Francis.

Our View: Nothing serious like an injury, it's just that Loney is 1-for-15 in his career against Francis, including fire strikeouts.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/12, 12:38 AM CT
James Loney had three hits and three RBI on Monday night as Matt Kemp also had three hits for the Dodgers.

Our View: Loney has slid under the radar this year because of his lack of long ball power (nine home runs), but he is hitting .299 with 67 RBI, and those clearly are passable totals.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 7/21, 11:49 PM CT
James Loney led the Dodgers in their 16-10 romp over the Rockies on Monday. The first baseman went 3-for-6 with a triple, two runs, and five RBI.

Our View: Loney hasn't emerged as hoped this year, but we can't forget that he hit .316-12-51 in 72 games after the break last year.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/20, 8:14 PM CT
The Dodgers struggled to get to Brandon Webb today, but they found the offense needed against relief pitching to earn the 6-5 win over Arizona with a five-run flurry in the top of the ninth. The effort was led by first baseman James Loney , going 3-for-4 with his 26th double of the season to post two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Outfielder Andre Ethier hit a homer to get the Diamondbacks going in the right direction late in that game, but Loney set the tone by showing the Dodgers had hits to chase. He needed a lift, hitting just .267 with two homers and 10 RBIs this month.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/6, 6:57 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-4 with three RBI on Sunday.

Our View: Loney has remained a consistent force in fantasy and should continue throughout the second half. His seven home runs are disappointing, but his .302 average and 47 RBI provide plenty of value.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/26, 5:43 PM CT
James Loney went 0-for-4 on Thursday to end his 12-game hitting streak. Loney hit .400 during the streak going 20-for-50.

Our View: Loney is hitting .383 for the month of June as he has reached base via a hit in 21 of 23 contests. He could still stand to knock the ball for a bit more power, but through 734 career AB he owns a .316 average, more than enough to cover up for less than ideal power at a corner infield spot.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/25, 11:43 PM CT
James Loney extended his hitting streak to 12-games on Wednesday night with a single in four trips to the plate. He also stole his third base of the season.

Our View: Loney is hitting .020 points higher than vaunted offensive force Matt Kemp (.310 to .290), though he lacks Kemp's athleticism and all-around game. Still, Loney has the makings of a solid corner infielder in mixed leagues.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/22, 8:27 PM CT
James Loney had two hits on Sunday to extend his hitting streak to 10-games. He is now hitting .310 with 39 RBI on the year.

Our View: Loney still hasn't developed the power which is looked for in most first basemen, but that doesn't mean he can't be an effective hitter worthy of consideration in mixed leagues.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/18, 9:06 PM CT
The Dodgers posted a nice offensive showing this evening, winning 6-1 over the Cincinnati Reds. The effort was led by first baseman James Loney , going 2-for-3 with a walk and his sixth home run of the season, totaling two RBIs and one runs scored on the night.

Our View: Loney is playing a major role for the Dodgers and is getting it done at the plate, hitting .380 this month (though his three RBIs over that spand leaves little to be desired).
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/20, 4:36 PM CT
James Loney has now hit safely in 12 of his last fourteen games, and he is hitting .314 with one home run and three RBI during that span.

Our View: Loney has 20 runs, 28 RBI, one stolen base and is hitting .287 on the season. Respectable numbers from a young player that will only get better.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/17, 2:24 PM CT
James Loney is riding a nine-game hitting streak and will try to extend it to 10 today against undefeated hurler Ervin Santana (6-0) and the Angels, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Loney has three multi-hit games over the streak, with five runs scored. He raised his batting average to .290 and his fantasy stock remains on the rise.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/3, 11:19 PM CT
James Loney went 2-for-5 and racked up six RBI in Saturday's 12-7 win over Colorado. He hit a three-run homer and a double.

Our View: Loney is hitting .276 and has recorded 25 RBI over 30 games this season. His fantasy stock will continue to rise.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/1, 11:55 AM CT
James Loney sat out at first base in favor of Mark Sweeney today, according to MLB.com. Manager Joe Torre just wanted to get Sweeney some at-bats and practice for his pinch-hitting duties.

Our View: Loney cooled off following a hot start, but he is still having a good season overall, as he holds a .283 average over 27 games, with two homers and 19 RBI.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/20, 10:52 PM CT
After starting the season on fire, and recording a career best 12-game hitting streak, James Loney was 0-for-12 with five strikeouts in a series sweep by the Braves.

Our View: Loney failed on a number of occasions to assist the Dodgers offense. He struck out when all he need to do was put the ball in play and left more than 10 runners in scoring position during the series.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/14, 3:25 PM CT
James Loney is riding a career-best 12-game hit streak, and will look to extend it tonight against lefty Zach Duke and the Pirates, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is hitting 17-for-44 overall, and Duke holds a solid 2.13 ERA. This should be a good match-up to follow.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 4/9, 6:58 PM CT
James Loney hit his first home run of the season on Wednesday. The Dodgers first baseman has now scored four runs and registered three RBI in the first week and a half of the '08 campaign.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 3/31, 10:11 PM CT
James Loney was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Dodgers shutout win over the Giants on Monday. Loney is a true sleeper. The first baseman has a good shot at out producing his ADP this summer.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 3/30, 6:58 PM CT
James Loney had a tough day at the plate in the spring training finale against Boston on Sunday as he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, while leaving three men on base. The Dodgers' starting first baseman ended spring training with a .258 batting average and hopefully he can bounce back in the team's season opener.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 9/14, 12:13 AM CT
James Loney went 3-for-4 with four RBI in Thursday's win over the Padres. The sizzling Loney is having a monster month, hitting .438 with five homers and 17 RBI.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/8, 6:59 AM CT
James Loney went 4-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's loss to Florida. Loney's now hitting .397 for the year, with 29 hits in 73 at-bats. He has been shaky in the field, however, making four errors in his short time with the club.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/27, 12:04 AM CT
In his first start as the Dodgers' regular first baseman, James Loney fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in three runs Tuesday night. Loney hit a two-run homer in the second, an RBI double in the fourth and a single in the eighth.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/21, 9:39 PM CT
James Loney was available to play on Thursday, though he didn't make it into the game, according to the AP. He had been out of the mix the previous two games due to a bruised right knee.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/17, 7:27 PM CT
James Loney bruised his right knee when he crashed into an unpadded section of the wall in the eighth inning of Sunday's game. He was taken off the field on a cart and will undergo precautionary X-rays, but at this point he is considered day-to-day, according to the AP. "I had a fear that he hit his head, but as it turned out, he didn't," manager Grady Little said. "The knee situation looks like just a bruise from where he made contact with the wall. They were moving it around good there in the outfield, and he was walking around after the game. So those are all positive signs."
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/10, 3:10 PM CT
The Dodgers have recalled James Loney and designated Brady Clark for assignment. Loney hit hit .279 with one homer and 32 RBI for Triple-A Las Vegas. He batted .284 with four dingers and 18 RBI last year with LA. "Coming into the season, we had plans to give Nomar more regular days off," manager Grady Little said in the AP. "So far, we haven't been able to do that. What we're looking at is September and October."
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 3/27, 9:45 AM CT
James Loney is expected to begin the year in the minors, according to the LA Times. Loney will spend most of his time in Triple-A in the outfield, as that is the position where he is expected to earn the most playing time at in the majors. Loney is hitting .455 this spring, but his roster spot was essentially lost when the team acquired Brady Clark Monday.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 3/10, 8:40 AM CT
James Loney is hitting .500 this spring, which is good enough that the Dodgers are trying to find a way to keep him with the team when they break camp -- though circumstances could dictate otherwise, according to the LA Times. "(Hitting .500 in spring would) be hard to ignore, of course," manager Grady Little said. "But we can't put all the stock in what goes on here in spring training. We've got to take a look at the whole big picture."
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/31, 9:47 PM CT
James Loney will be called up by the Dodgers on Friday, according to the AP. He hit .264 with six RBI in 72 at-bats before being sent down to Triple-A Las Vegas earlier this month.
James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 8/18, 10:34 PM CT

James Loney, 1B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/30, 3:57 PM CT
James Loney was expected to only be with the Dodgers for a day or two, but he'll stay with the big-league club now that Nomar Garciaparra is on the disabled list with a knee injury, according to the AP. He'll see some action at first while Nomar is sidelined.
