Royce Ring, P, New York YankeesTuesday 1/12, 9:55 AM CT
The Yankees have signed Royce Ring to a minor league deal, according to the New York Post.

Our View: The lefty failed to make it up to the bigs last year and posted an 8.46 ERA over 22.1 innings with Atlanta in 2008, needless to say his chances of making New York's roster aren't too great.

According to the Post Dispatch, the Cardinals have place left-handed reliever Royce Ring on waivers. He has the option of reporting to Triple-A or electing free agency.

Our View: Ring became obsolete after the Cards acquired relievers Trever Miller and Denys Reyes. Not many teams have a need for three lefty specialists and Ring is clearly behind the other two talent-wise.

Royce Ring retired all four Marlins hitters he faced while striking out two on Wednesday. He appeared against the heart of Florida's batting order, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Ring is competing for the lefty-specialist role with the Cardinals, and he took a nice step today. He holds next to no fantasy value.

Royce Ring has been designated for assignment by the Braves, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The left-handed specialist maintained a 8.46 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 22.1 innings of relief, and his designation holds no fantasy significance.

The Padres optioned Royce Ring to Triple-A Portland on Monday, according to the AP. "As disappointed as he was to go down, I let him know that, hey, there's good opportunity, at some point you'll be back up," manager Bud Black said.

Our View: He'll get a chance to return to the majors soon enough.
