Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 10/1, 5:35 PM CT
Dan Haren's recent struggles continued on Thursday, as the dominant righty got tagged for five runs in six innings, as the Diamondbacks lost 7-3 in San Francisco.

Our View: The poor outing raised Haren's WHIP to 1.00, denying him the first sub-1.00 WHIP season since Johan Santana did it in 2006 for the Twins. After the All-Star break this year, Haren went just 5-5 with a 4.62 ERA in 15 starts.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 9/26, 11:56 PM CT
Dan Haren was roughed up in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Padres. The Arizona ace allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks over six innings. He fanned eight and did not earn a decision.

Our View: Haren's struggles in his last two outings have bumped him from the Cy Young conversation. With back-to-back five-run performances his ERA ballooned from 2.79 to 3.02. It's a frustrating stretch run of a great season by a very talented pitcher.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 9/20, 8:19 PM CT
Dan Haren was excellent for the first six innings on Sunday but the D-Backs fell to the Rockies 5-1. Haren went eight innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out seven.

Our View: Haren went deep into the game, and he was excellent up until the seventh. He allowed all five runs in his last two innings, and it just seemed like he started to wear down. Haren has been very good overall this season, and he remains one of the better pitchers in the National League.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 9/15, 11:56 PM CT
Dan Haren held the Padres to just two runs on five hits and a walk over eight innings on Tuesday. He fanned four and won his 14th game as the D-Backs doubled up the Pads 4-2.

Our View: Haren now has five quality starts in a row since getting blasted by the Phillies on August 19th. He'll be in the top five conversation for this year's Cy Young if he keeps it up. Especially since he leads the world in WHIP.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 9/10, 12:06 AM CT
Dan Haren struck out nine in 7.1 solid innings on Wednesday night, but took a no-decision, as Arizona rallied for a late 4-3 victory over the Dodgers.

Our View: Haren is back on track after a rough early August, and is now just three strikeouts away from his second straight 200-K season.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 9/4, 11:40 PM CT
Dan Haren was good on Friday, but his bullpen wasn't as the D-Backs allowed three runs in the final three innings to fall to the Rockies 5-4. Haren went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out eight.

Our View: Haren was good tonight, but unfortunately his bullpen couldn't deliver him a win. Haren has scuffled over the last month, and while he has fallen out of the Cy Young race, he has still had a very successful season in the desert.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 8/30, 9:33 PM CT
Dan Haren earned his 13th win of the season with a seven-inning, three-run performance on Sunday. He scattered six hits and a pair of walks and fanned seven in a 4-3 win over the Astros.

Our View: The win gave Haren his first since August 14th, and he has struggled in August (4.95 ERA) after being untouchable in the season's first four months.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 8/19, 9:06 PM CT
Dan Haren struggled again on Wednesday as the D-Backs fell to the Phillies 9-1. Haren lasted only five innings, and he allowed six runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out six.

Our View: Haren has not been very good in three of his last four starts, and he was victimized by a powerful Phillies' lineup tonight. It may be time to be a bit concerned that Haren isn't the dominating force he was for most of the season, but he still has the stuff to dominate every time out.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 8/14, 11:37 PM CT
Dan Haren rebounded from two straight poor starts with eight stifling innings on Friday night, limiting the NL-west leading Dodgers to just one run, as Arizona won 4-1 at home.

Our View: Now that's more like it. After allowing ten combined runs in his past two starts, Haren was back to dominating Friday night, and likely will be the rest of the season.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 8/8, 9:35 PM CT
Dan Haren got lit up by the Washington Nationals of all teams on Saturday. He allowed five runs on seven hits over six innings and was handed his seventh loss of the season after a 5-2 defeat.

Our View: Haren, arguably baseball's best pitcher this season, had a rare off night. He's now allowed five runs in each of his last two starts after being virtually flawless all season. His ERA jumped from 2.19 to 2.57. Don't let that scare you though, he's a safe bet to rebound.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 8/3, 9:03 PM CT
Dan Haren gave up five earned runs on eight hits over seven innings in Monday's 6-5 win at New York. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: The ace hurler did not have a solid outing, but the Diamondbacks provided enough run support for him to claim his 11th win of 2009. He snapped a two-game skid without a win.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 7/29, 12:06 AM CT
Dan Haren was hit with his sixth loss of the season on Tuesday as the Diamondbacks fell to the Phillies 4-3. Haren went five innings and allowed two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out five.

Our View: Not a typical dominant Haren performance tonight, but he still wasn't terrible. If this is a bad start for Haren, fantasy owners will gladly take it every once in a while. Expect him to dominate his next time out, as he is too good to struggle two outings in a row.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 7/18, 10:10 PM CT
Dan Haren enjoyed another strong outing, as he only allowed one earned run on four hits over eight innings in Saturday's 4-2 win at St. Louis. He has two walks and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: Haren earned his 10th win of the season, and the 75th of his career. The ace hurler recorded a win in four straight starts, and allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last 10.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 7/10, 11:12 PM CT
Dan Haren was dominant in Friday's 8-0 win over the Marlins at Chase Field, as he only allowed four hits over nine shutout innings. He issued one walk and racked up 10 strikeouts.

Our View: Haren has collected a win in three straight starts, and leads the Diamondbacks with nine victories and a 2.01 ERA for the season. The ace hurler has three complete games and recorded his first shutout as well.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 7/5, 7:57 PM CT
Dan Haren allowed three runs (only one earned) on seven hits over six innings in Sunday's close 4-3 win at Colorado. He had no walks and racked up six strikeouts.

Our View: Haren has claimed a win in four of his last five starts, and leads Arizona with eight victories for the season. He also leads the club with a 2.16 ERA and 119 strikeouts. These are strong numbers considering the Diamondbacks are 33-49.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 6/30, 9:18 PM CT
Dan Haren was in control from the hill in Tuesday's 6-2 win at Cincinnati, as he only issued one earned run on four hits over seven innings. He had one walk and racked up nine strikeouts.

Our View: Haren enjoyed another strong outing, and trimmed his ERA to 2.19. He has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last seven starts, and would likely have more than seven wins if he played for a better team than Arizona (31-46).
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 6/30, 4:36 PM CT
Dan Haren is not on Arizona's trading block, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: A team spokesman noted that he could not imagine a trade proposal that would motivate the club to deal Haren. The 28-year-old hurler holds a rock-solid 2.25 ERA and 0.81 WHIP.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 6/24, 11:56 PM CT
Dan Haren only allowed two earned runs on four hits over seven innings in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers at Chase Field. He had one walk and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: Haren pitched well tonight, but was forced to take a loss due to poor run support from his teammates. He is now 6-5 despite a solid 2.25 ERA. His fantasy stock would be higher if he pitched for a better team than the Diamondbacks (30-42).
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 6/18, 10:39 PM CT
Dan Haren was his usual dominant self on Thursday night, going seven innings while allowing only two earned runs and striking out six. The D-Backs even managed to get him a win this time, and he is now 6-4 on the season.

Our View: In 14 starts this season, Haren has only not had a quality start three times. He is an elite fantasy player.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 6/12, 11:20 PM CT
Dan Haren was dominant in Friday's 8-1 win over the Astros at Chase Field, as he only allowed one earned run on two hits over nine innings. He had two walks and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View: He now has a winning record at 5-4, and collected his first complete game of the season. He is pitching great right now as he allowed one earned run in each of his last three starts.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 6/8, 11:02 AM CT
The Arizona Republic is reporting that Dan Haren has become frustrated with the Diamondbacks bullpen.

Our View: The D-Backs ace has every right to be frustrated, even livid, with the Backs porous pen. Two games in a row now, Haren has departed after seven innings with a five run lead, only to not earn the victory. While still an elite fantasy option, he would be even better if the D-Backs relievers could ever nail down a win for him.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 6/7, 9:27 PM CT
Dan Haren allowed just one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings of work on Sunday. He struck out five but did not factor in the decision as Arizona eventually won the game in the 18th inning 9-6 over the Padres.

Our View: Haren's ERA is down to 2.33 on the season and he looks as dominant as ever in 2009. He has three quality starts in his last three outings.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 5/28, 11:28 PM CT
Dan Haren was lights out on Thursday as the Diamondbacks defeated the Braves 5-2. Haren went eight innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. He did not walk a batter and he struck out eight.

Our View: Haren has been one of the only bright spots out in the desert this season, and he continued his solid season tonight. Haren's ERA is at 2.54 on the year, but his record is only at 4-4 due to his team's lack of offensive pop. He is still a very strong play going forward.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 5/18, 10:02 AM CT
Dan Haren will be kept on his normal schedule and will take the hill Monday at Florida, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Sunday's game was rained out. Jon Garland was to pitch yesterday, but will now go on Tuesday. The club did not announce any starters beyond Haren and Garland.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 5/7, 6:32 PM CT
Dan Haren did not factor into the decision on Thursday as the Diamondbacks fell to the Padres in ten innings. Haren went six innings and surrendered three runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out four. He also managed to go 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Our View: This could be considered a bad start for Haren, which says a lot about how good he has been this season. His record is only 3-3, but his ERA is an impressive 1.84 and he has a very good strikeout ratio. If his team can find a way to give him some run support, he is one of the best pitchers in fantasy baseball.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 5/2, 8:41 PM CT
Dan Haren only allowed one earned run on four hits over eight innings in Saturday's 4-1 win at Milwaukee. Haren fired 11 strikeouts with two walks.

Our View: Haren is hot as he has won three straight starts, and has racked up 21 strikeouts over his last two outings.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 4/27, 11:39 PM CT
Dan Haren went the distance as the Diamondbacks beat the Cubs 7-2 on Monday. He struck out 10 batters while allowing just three hits, although two of those were home runs.

Our View: Despite the long balls, this was the fifth strong outing by Haren this season. However, he boasts a 2-3 record because of the poor offense behind him on most nights. Haren has struck out 36 batters against only five walks through 35 innings and has arguably been the best pitcher in the game in the early going.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 4/22, 5:53 PM CT
Dan Haren struck out nine hitters in seven shutout innings of work. He scattered six hits and two walks on his way to earning his first win of the season.

Our View: Haren has gotten a grand total of three runs of support in his four starts this season. He has pitched very well, but he has been perhaps the unluckiest of starters this April.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 4/18, 12:13 AM CT
Can a guy buy a little run support? Dan Haren held the Giants to five hits and one run over six innings on Friday night, but the Diamondbacks lost 2-0. He walked none, struck out six, and is now 0-3 despite a 1.89 ERA.

Our View: One. That's how many runs the Diamondbacks have scored in Haren's three starts. We wish Bob Uecker was here to make this situation sound funny. Right now, it just seems sad.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 4/12, 6:56 PM CT
Dan Haren fell to 0-2, despite a second solid outing in Arizona's 3-1 loss on Sunday. Haren allowed two runs in six innings on four hits and three walks.

Our View: Haren only struck out two while battling a loaded Dodgers lineup. Despite the two losses, he has looked good through two starts. Haren owners should just remain patient.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 4/8, 1:33 AM CT
Dan Haren was the hard-luck loser on Tuesday night. He surrendered just one run and three hits in seven innings while fanning nine in a 3-0 loss to Colorado.

Our View: Haren's only blemish of the night was a fifth-inning home run to Troy Tulowitzki. Other than that, he was truly dominant, sporting a strike-to-ball ratio better than 2:1.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 4/1, 6:16 PM CT
Dan Haren was good, not great on Wednesday as he allowed two runs on three hits over five innings. He struck out five on the day.

Our View: Haren is having sort of an up and down spring, but we expect him to have it all put together when the regular season starts up next week. He has a low ERA and a high K-rate. What's not to love?
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 3/27, 5:58 PM CT
Dan Haren was phenomenal on Friday against the Angels. He threw seven innings allowing only two hits and one run and struck out ten.

Our View: Haren represents half of arguably the best one-two punch in the National League. He has struggled this spring, but looks to be coming around now. Expect him and Webb to be dominant again.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 3/22, 7:55 PM CT
Dan Haren allowed nine hits, including two home runs, and five earned runs over five innings of work against the Padres on Sunday. He struck out five in the effort.

Our View: Haren has not been overly impressive this spring, but there's no reason to think that he won't be among the better pitchers in the NL once again this season. However, last season he appeared to wear down in August and he has thrown nearly 900 innings over the last four seasons. There might be more risk tied to him than perceived at first glance.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 3/17, 7:12 PM CT
Dan Haren looked sharp on Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing only one run over 4.2 innings. He did not allow a walk and struck out three in the effort.

Our View: Haren has had an up and down spring, but is most likely just shaking off the rust and toying with pitches and arm angles. Consider him a top fantasy starter.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 3/12, 6:33 PM CT
Dan Haren had an overall successful outing against Oakland on Thursday, giving up one run off a hit and three walks while striking out four in three innings of work.

Our View: Haren did stuggle a bit with his control, the opposite of his start against the Angels five days ago when he failed to walk anyone but surrendered seven hits in just two innings. Still, there's little to worry about with Haren who is a notorious quick starter and should be in top form by the season's commencement.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 3/7, 6:29 PM CT
While he did strike out four batters, Dan Haren still got rocked by the Angels on Saturday, giving up four runs off seven hits in two innings.

Our View: Don't feel any need to worry about Haren, who was barely touched in his first two spring training outings and remains a sure-fire top-10 pitcher.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 3/5, 8:25 AM CT
Dan Haren has expressed displeasure with Randy Johnson for what he feels were critical remarks made by the former Arizona pitcher toward catcher Chris Snyder, according to the Arizona Republic. "I didn't like the things he said and I thought it was a shot at Snydes, without ever saying his name," Haren said. "It was kind of surprising when I read that."

Our View: Johnson said to reporters Tuesday that he thought highly of Snyder's backup, Miguel Montero, because he was "eager to learn" and "listened to me."
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 3/2, 6:00 PM CT
Dan Haren was effective again as he mowed down Cub hitters Monday, throwing two hitless innings with two strikeouts and a lone walk. His preseason ERA stands at 2.25.

Our View: If early spring is any indication, Haren seems poised for another solid season. With Haren entering his prime the D-Backs have as good a one-two punch as any team in the league with him and fellow ace Brandon Webb.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 2/26, 7:01 PM CT
Dan Haren went two innings Thursday, allowing one earned run on one hit in a 15-9 win over Cleveland.

Our View: Haren will likely give fantasy owners yet another solid season in 2009. The 28-year-old hurler has had back-to-back solid seasons and now enters the prime of his career. Anything less than another 16-win campaign would have to be considered a bit of a disappointment.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 12/30, 10:38 PM CT
Dan Haren reportedly will not pitch for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Arizona Republic. "I wouldn't want to jeopardize anything for the season," Haren said. "My No. 1 priority is the Diamondbacks."

Our View: This is good news for Arizona, as Haren struggled a bit down the stretch for Arizona last year. Hopefully for the D-Backs this means that he will be stronger in the latter part of the year in 2009.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 9/26, 9:07 AM CT
Dan Haren already has a career-high 16 victories this season, now he is in search of his first 200-K season, according to The Arizona Republic. "When I'm throwing balls exactly where I want it, I tend to get more strikeouts," he said. "As the year went along and I was really throwing the ball well, it was when I had my best command."

Our View: Haren has 197 K, already a career best, and he will pitch tonight against the Rockies needing just three punchouts to reach his goal. Only six others have hit the 200 mark this season, so it's some pretty rarified air these days.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 9/21, 7:05 PM CT
Dan Haren picked up his 16th victory of the season on Sunday with six decent innings against the Rockies. Haren allowed three runs, struck out four and didn't walk a batter.

Our View: The 16 wins are a new career-high for Haren after totals of 14, 14 and 15 the past three seasons. Haren will also set a career best in WHIP provided he isn't tattooed in his final start as his current mark 1.12 of is better than the 1.21 mark he posted in each of the past two seasons.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 9/16, 10:55 PM CT
Dan Haren tossed a gem Tuesday, shutting out the Giants while allowing only four hits and two walks with 12 strikeouts in a 2-0 win.

Our View: Brandon Webb will probably get more Cy Young votes with his 20 wins, but Haren has had the better season.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 9/10, 6:30 PM CT
Dan Haren needed 99 pitches to complete four wild innings on Wednesday before he was removed from the game against the Giants. Haren held the Giants to just two runs, one earned, but he allowed six hits and three walks in the outing.

Our View: With the team struggling, Haren really needed to step up today. He didn't. Though he threw 99 pitches, it was pretty surprising to see him pulled after four innings raising the possibility that he is injured, something that could be easily inferred from his lack of performance in his past three outings (0-2, 7.07 ERA, 2.07 WHIP).
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 9/6, 12:21 AM CT
Dan Haren had his fourth consecutive poor outing, and this one was the worst. He allowed five earned runs over four innings in a big game against the Dodgers on Friday night. He walked four and struck out just two.

Our View: Haren has given up 17 runs over his last four starts. Sure it's not terrible but it's below Haren's high standards. His ERA has risen from 2.96 to 3.41 over that span.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 8/30, 11:46 PM CT
Dan Haren was rocked for five earned runs on 10 hits over six innings in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Dodgers, with no walks and five strikeouts. He gave up two home runs, one to Manny Ramirez and the other to Jeff Kemp.

Our View: Haren has allowed at least five earned runs in three of his last five starts, but closed out August with a winning record at 3-2.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 8/25, 11:55 PM CT
Dan Haren did not figure in the decision in the Diamondbacks 4-2 loss to San Diego, but he threw well, going seven innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out 11.

Our View: Haren has had a difficult August, but a few more performances like this and his ERA will be back below 3.00 soon.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 8/22, 7:49 AM CT
Dan Haren gave up five earned runs on 11 hits in his last start against the Padres and is aiming to make adjustments when he faces them again at PETCO Park next week, according to the Arizona Republic. The Padres had success against him while aggressively swinging early in the count, and manager Bob Melvin said, "The Padres definitely are a team that's pretty aggressive but surprised me a little last night. Haren just doesn't walk anybody. As dominant as he's been, I think it was a pretty good approach for them. They'll have to face him again at their place, and Danny's pretty good about making adjustments and can throw breaking stuff for strikes early in the count. So we'll see how adjustments go on both sides."

Our View: Haren is 14-6 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.06 WHIP and looks to fare better in his next outing against San Diego.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 8/20, 11:24 PM CT
The much-hyped pitching match-up between Dan Haren and Jake Peavy never materialized, as both pitchers struggled, though Haren and the Diamondbacks wound up getting the 8-6 win. Haren went six innings, surrendering five earned runs on 11 hits.

Our View: Despite his performance, Haren remains one of the top pitchers in fantasy baseball, and will continue to be for a number of years.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 8/14, 4:56 PM CT
Diamondbacks pitcher Dan Haren threw a great game against the Rockies, going eight innings and surrendering just two runs while striking out nine and gaining his 13th victory in the team's 6-2 win.

Our View: Haren's ERA shrunk below 3.00 for the season, and he remains one of the most unappreciated starters in fantasy.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 8/9, 11:47 PM CT
With Arizona taking the fall in depressing fashion against the Braves, 11-4, ace Dan Haren has taken a loss, pitching 5 1/3 innings with six runs (all earned) on 10 hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Haren drops to 12-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.00. This is his first loss in six starts, though his last four outings have gotten progressively shorter with more runs surrendered than the previous game in each.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 8/5, 4:51 PM CT
The Diamondbacks have signed Dan Haren to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in the desert through 2012, MLB.com reports. Haren will make $31 million over the 2011 and 2012 seasons, and the club owns a $15.5 million option for 2013.

Our View: So, drinks are on Dan's tab tonight? The D'Backs have one of the best 1-2 punches in all of baseball, and the local fans should be in for a long run of Haren and Brandon Webb working together.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 8/5, 3:39 PM CT
The Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday will announce a contract extension for All-Star right-hander Dan Haren, according to PA Sports Ticker.

Our View: In his prime at 27 years old, Haren owns a career record of 61-49 with a 3.65 ERA in 153 games.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 8/4, 11:49 PM CT
Dan Haren won his 12th game of the year, putting up six innings and surrendering four earned runs while striking out eight against the Pirates.

Our View: Haren had a sub-2.00 ERA in July, and he has won his last four starts, so he is clearly pitching very well.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 7/30, 11:55 PM CT
Dan Haren did what he always does and that is he gave the D'backs a chance to win which they did for the 55th time this season in Haren's 11th victory of the year.

Our View: Haren allowed three runs in seven innings, but as his his M.O. he didn't walk anyone while striking out six. The guy is simply money as he has allowed as many as three earned runs only twice in his last 11 starts.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 7/19, 10:04 PM CT
Dan Haren kept the Dodgers' bats in check Saturday, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

Our View: Brandon Lyon tried to blow Haren's win in the ninth but hung on. Haren is 9-5 on the year.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 7/15, 10:06 PM CT
Dan Haren threw two scoreless innings for the National League in the All-Star Game, giving up two hits, walking one, and not allowing any runs.

Our View: Haren faced his old American League compatriots and set them down to do his part to help the National League.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 7/10, 10:23 PM CT
Dan Haren dominated the Nationals for eight innings allowing only two runs, one earned, in a no-decision. Haren walked two on the night with nine K.

Our View: Haren left without allowing a run, but you can thank Brandon Lyon (and Mark Reynolds) for blowing Haren's outing by allowing two inherited runners to score. Haren enters the All-Star break at 8-5 with a 2.72 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP in a spectacular first half season in the NL.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 7/10, 2:11 PM CT
Arizona pitcher Dan Haren, who starts tonight against the Nationals, is on a roll. He has thrown seven innings in each of his last four outings, and has given up just 18 hits and three earned runs in that time.

Our View: If you have Haren on your fantasy squad, make sure he is in your lineup, as the Washington Nationals are one of the worst offensive teams in baseball.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 7/4, 11:50 PM CT
Dan Haren only surrendered two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Padres, with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Our View: He pitched well enough to win, but a lack of run support dropped his record to 8-5. He only allowed one earned run over his previous three starts heading into tonight, and should remain a must-start in all fantasy leagues.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 7/2, 4:21 PM CT
Dan Haren has been named the NL Pitcher of the Month for June, according to the AP. who went 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA over 41 innings in the month, with 36 strikeouts.

Our View: Haren is 8-4 overall, with a 2.85 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, and will remain a must-start in all leagues.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 6/29, 3:11 PM CT
Dan Haren pitched well in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins, as he only surrendered one run (not earned) on five hits over seven innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts. He ended the day with a no decision.

Our View: His no decision snapped a two-game winning streak, but fantasy owners should still be very pleased by today's performance. He has only allowed three total earned runs over his last four starts.

Dan Haren is 0-3 in three career starts at Fenway Park. He hopes to reverse that trend tonight when he squares off against Josh Beckett.

Our View: Haren is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his last four starts but this mathup does not bode well.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 6/18, 11:43 PM CT
Arizona RHP Dan Haren got plenty of offensive support this evening in the Diamondbacks' 11-1 win over Oakland, but the motivation to put his old employer to the gutter ruled the night and gave Haren the drive for a top performance. Our View: Haren moves to 7-4 with an ERA of 3.26, now sitting at 2-0 over four starts this month. In that span through June, he has allowed just six combined earned runs with five walks versus 24 strikeouts.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksThursday 6/12, 4:28 PM CT
Dan Haren worked six strong innings on Thursday permitting the Mets to score only two runs in a no-decision. Haren, as always, exhibited tremendous control walking none while striking out five.

Our View: Simply put, Haren is one of the best starters in baseball, and a tremendous number two option for Arizona. Haren has made 14 starts this year and 13 times he has allowed two or fewer walks, which goes a long way to explaining his success.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 6/7, 8:50 PM CT

Dan Haren registered his fifth win of the season on Friday as Arizona topped Detroit 4-3. Haren allowed three runs on six hits over seven innings, with no walks and four strikeouts. Most of the damage came on a two-run homer by Miguel Cabrera.

Our View: Haren held an excellent 0.99 WHIP over 50.1 innings prior to tonight's outing, and he only had one poor start all season, when he got rocked for five earned runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings against the Dodgers on April 23. Haren has played up to high expectations with the D-Backs so far this season.
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 5/9, 4:54 PM CT
Dan Haren allowed two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out five over seven innings, but suffered his second loss of the season to an even better Ted Lilly and the Cubs on Friday afternoon.

Our View: Haren was good enough to win in the day game at historic Wrigley field, but Ted Lilly was better. The Diamondbacks have hit a part of the schedule that will test their metal, with a road trip in Chicago before returning home to face a desperate Rockies team and then an innerleague series against Detroit.

Dan Haren allowed just three hits and a walk while recording an amazing 11 strikeouts during six scoreless innings pitched in a camp game today, but the team is more excited about his strength while hitting a target pitch count of 90, according to MLB.com. Haren has one more start scheduled before the regular season (slated to start the second game of the year), and the team has decided to use these last two outings to test Haren’s ability to go deep into games. Today’s performance is a good sign that the righty should be just fine. "I felt good," Haren said. "I tried to treat it like it was a real game. I was able to work with Robby for the first time, which was nice, and much needed, too. My arm continues to gain strength. Obviously, the results were good. I'm not necessarily looking for the greatest results. I just want to make sure all my pitches are crisp and there, and they were today. I'm sure that's why I had success today. I'm just glad I got my pitch count up to 90. I should be good to go next time for a full load."
Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 3/7, 7:22 AM CT
Dan Haren mostly threw sinking fastballs and splitters after joining the A's, but he's been working on elevating his fastballs this spring with the Diamondbacks, according to the Arizona Republic. "Going up in the zone, elevating, especially after throwing a few down there, can be useful," he said. "Changing their eye level . . . if they swing at it or not," he said, "just to change it and then maybe go back to the split or breaking ball from there, just change it up a bit." You have to love a 15-game winner, who carried a 3.07 ERA and 1.21 WHIP last season, who wants to keep improving his game.

Dan Haren, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 12/5, 11:57 AM CT
A deal is far from imminent, but the D'Backs are expected to make a strong run at A's ace Dan Haren. Not surprisingly, Oakland GM Billy Beane is expected to ask for a lot in return for Haren, but the D'Backs are one team that has the prospects to trade, according to the Arizona Republic. Minor league outfielder Carlos Gonzalez would likely be the first player included in any deal, but Arizona may have to give up as many as four youngsters to complete a trade.

I kind of figured the way it was lined up that I had that game," Haren said. "I'm not going to read too much into it. (Rich) Harden obviously was very deserving. As long as we both make 34 starts, we'll all be happy at the end of the year."

Dan Haren worked hard over the offseason to improve his cut fastball, according to the Contra Costa Times. He said he felt he had pretty good control of it during yesterday's exhibition outing. "It was probably my best pitch," he said. "I'm not ready to get overly excited yet, but ... I got a few swing-and-misses on it. A lot of it is trusting it, and it's hard to get that when it's crunch time in a game during the regular season. Hopefully, I can build some of that down here."

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reports that the Mets are wanting to trade for Dan Haren, not Rich Harden as previously reported. No deal is imminent here, however, as the A's probably don't even have much desire to deal Haren, considering he's under Oakland's control for the next four years.
