Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 2/8, 5:51 PM CT
Cliff Lee had surgery Friday to remove a floating spur in his left foot, according to Larry Stone's (Seattle Times) twitter page.

Our View: Lee is expected to resume normal baseball activities in around 2-3 weeks, and should remain a safe fantasy prospect for 2010.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 12/17, 7:38 PM CT
Cliff Lee was blindsided by his trade to the Seattle Mariners, and thought he would finish his career in Philadelphia, according to MLB.com.

Our View: "At first I didn't believe it. I thought we were working out an extension with the Phillies," he said. "I thought I would spend the rest of my career there. It is a business and you never know what's going to happen." Perhaps he will now have some extra motivation in Seattle next season. Pitching in the pitcher-friendly confines of Safeco Field in 2010, he will be as elite an option as ever.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 12/16, 2:24 PM CT
The Mariners officially acquired Cliff Lee on Wednesday afternoon, sending outfield prospect Tyson Gillies and pitching prospects Phillippe Aumont and Juan Ramirez to the Phillies, according to the Mariners' official site.

Our View: We've all known this was going to go down for the past few days, and now at least half of the three-team deal that will also send Roy Halladay to the Phillies is officially complete. Lee, along with Felix Hernandez, will provide one of the best one-two punches in the majors. While he'll surely miss the offensive support he received in Philadelphia, a shift from a hitter-friendly stadium to a pitcher-friendly one could potentially make his already gaudy numbers even better.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 11/6, 11:10 AM CT
MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports that the Phillies have exercised Cliff Lee's $9 million 2010 option.

Our View: File this one under "duh." Now the question is, will the Phils work out a long-term extension this winter. After picking up the win in both of the team's World Series victories this fall, the answer would seem to be a resounding yes.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 11/2, 10:31 PM CT
Cliff Lee wasn't his usual dominant self on Monday, but he was good enough as the Phillies stayed alive by defeating the Yankees 8-6. Lee pitched seven innings and allowed five runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out three.

Our View: Lee was very good until the eighth inning, when the Yanks put up three runs to get back in the game. The Phils are still alive, but they are heading back to New York down 3-2.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 10/30, 2:01 PM CT
Cliff Lee will not be starting game four of the World Series against the Yankees on short rest, according to MLB.com's Noah Coslov.

Our View: Lee threw 122 pitches in a complete game, game one victory. The Phils will instead counter the Yankees' CC Sabathia, who will be starting on three days rest, with Joe Blanton.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 10/28, 10:38 PM CT
Cliff Lee blew away the high-powered Yankees in game one of the World Series, striking out ten in a complete game 6-1 victory.

Our View: Wow. There's good, and then there's great, and Lee was positively dazzling on Wednesday. The Yanks better hope the next time they face him isn't in an elimination game.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 10/25, 12:10 PM CT
As was widely expected, Cliff Lee has been named the Phillies' starting pitcher for game one of the World Series on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Noah Coslov.

Our View: If the Yankees win tonight, he will face off with CC Sabathia. If they don't, it could be anyone from Andy Pettitte to John Lackey or Jered Weaver of the Angels.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 10/18, 10:36 PM CT
Cliff Lee was masterful yet again on Sunday as the Phillies destroyed the Dodgers 11-0 to take a 2-1 series lead in the NLCS. Lee pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed only three hits while striking out 10.

Our View: This guy is just really, really good. His team gave him plenty of run support, but this game was over after the first with Lee on the mound. He almost looks like a sure thing every time he steps on the hill, and he gave the Phils the all-important lead in the series.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 10/12, 9:02 PM CT
Cliff Lee threw 7.1 more dominating playoff innings on Monday night, but took a no-decision as the Phillies rallied for a late 5-4 win in Denver. The victory gave Philadelphia a 3-1 series win in the NLDS, and they will now square off with the Dodgers for the second straight season to decide the National League.

Our View: Lee has now allowed just two earned runs in 16.1 playoff innings this season, and should be a handful for the Dodgers' talented lineup.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 10/7, 4:32 PM CT
In his first ever postseason start, Cliff Lee went the distance in a 5-1 Phillies win that showcased his dominant left arm. Philadelphia now lead the Rockies 1-0 in the National League Division Series.

Our View: Manager Charlie Manuel was chided for starting Lee over last year's postseason hero, Cole Hamels, but it looks like he made the right move. The big lefty allowed just one run on six his over his nine innings of work and needed just 113 pitches (79 for strikes) to get the job done. He fanned five and did not walk a batter.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 10/6, 11:38 AM CT
Cliff Lee has been named the Phillies starter in the first game of their divisional series match-up with the Rockies on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.

Our View: Cole Hamels will start game two. Lee was mostly dominant after coming to the Phillies in a deal at the trade deadline, but went just 2-3 with a 5.45 ERA after September 1. In his lone 2009 start against the Rockies, he limited them to one run over seven innings.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 10/1, 10:03 PM CT
Cliff Lee was rocky again in his final start of the regular season. The Phllies ace allowed four runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings, as Philadelphia lost 5-3 at home to the Astros.

Our View: After initially mowing down the National League like it was Triple-A, Lee has been very ordinary of late, going just 2-3 with a 5.71 ERA in six September starts. The Phils are going to need him to get right for the playoffs, as they attempt to become the first team since the 2000 Yankees to repeat as World Series champions.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/25, 11:31 PM CT
Cliff Lee was lit up for seven earned runs on nine hits over six innings in Friday's 8-4 loss at Milwaukee. He had no walks with six strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Lee had one of his worst performances of the season after allowing one or less earned runs in each of his previous two starts. Hopefully he will bounce back as the Phillies gear up for the playoffs.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/20, 5:51 PM CT
Cliff Lee tossed only four innings on Sunday due to a rain delay in Atlanta, and he did not factor into the decision as the Phillies beat the Braves 4-2. Lee allowed one run on five hits while striking out two in the game.

Our View: Lee's outing was cut short due to weather today, but he was pretty good again before he was removed. Lee has found his stride after a few rough outings, and he looks like the dominating pitcher the Phils traded for earlier this season.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/15, 9:11 PM CT
Cliff Lee dominated once again on Tuesday. He tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 win over the Nationals and allowed just six hits and three walks while striking out nine.

Our View: Lee now has seven wins with the Phillies this season and three of them have been complete games. He was lights out in his first five starts in the NL, but then stumbled badly in his last three. Looks like he's back on track.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/9, 9:28 PM CT
Cliff Lee narrowly got the win on Wednesday after two poor straight outings. The Philly ace allowed four runs in seven innings as Philadelphia beat the Nationals 6-5 on the road.

Our View: It wasn't a spectacular night, but Lee definitely looked back on track. Expect big things down the stretch.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/4, 10:31 PM CT
Cliff Lee got tagged for six runs on nine hits in just three innings of work on Friday as the Phillies fell to the Astros by a score of 7-0. Lee has now lost his last two outings, allowing 12 runs in just eight innings pitched.

Our View: We don't know if it is time for Lee owners to be concerned just yet, but his last two outings have been disasterous. We still expect him to rebound and be just fine, but it is worth monitoring him over his next few starts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/29, 11:33 PM CT
Cliff Lee finally lost a game as a member of the Phillies on Saturday night, getting tagged for six runs and three home runs in just five innings, as the Phillies lost 9-1 to Atlanta in a rain-shortened eight-inning game.

Our View: The rough night saw Lee's Phillies ERA skyrocket all the way to...1.80. We think he'll be just fine.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/24, 3:20 PM CT
Cliff Lee moved to 5-0 as a member of the Phillies on Monday afternoon as Philadelphia defeated the Mets 6-2. Lee went seven innings and allowed two unearned runs on six hits while striking out five.

Our View: Lee has been pretty much unhittable since coming over the the Phils, and it took two errors by his defense today to force him to actually give up runs. He has been one of the biggest deadline additions in baseball, and he is one of the main reasons the Phillies are considered by many to be the favorite in the NL.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/19, 8:59 PM CT
Cliff Lee was masterful on Wednesday as the Phillies pounded the Diamondbacks by a score of 9-1. Lee allowed one unearned run in his nine innings pitched while allowing two hits and striking out 11.

Our View: This is why the Phillies traded for Lee. He was dominating tonight, and the Phillies will remain one of the favorites in the NL if he keeps pitching like this. There is no reason to think last year's AL Cy Young winner won't keep it up.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/13, 4:09 PM CT
Cliff Lee improved to 3-0 as a Phillie on Thursday by dominating the Cubs at Wrigley Field. The tough lefty pitched eight innings on one run ball, striking out eight in the process, as the Phils won 6-1.

Our View: Lee has pitched even better for Philadelphia than the Phillies probably thought he would. In three starts, he's now 3-0 with a 1.12 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/6, 3:33 PM CT
Cliff Lee earned his first win in front of the home town faithful on Thursday afternoon. He allowed just six hits and a walk over seven innings and fanned nine in a 3-1 win over the Rockies.

Our View: Lee looked brilliant in this one and is now 2-0 since joining the Phillies with just two runs allowed in 16 innings. He has fanned 15 over that stretch.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/31, 11:59 PM CT
Cliff Lee only surrendered one earned run on four hits over nine innings in Friday's 5-1 win at San Francisco. He had two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Lee enjoyed a strong debut with the Phillies, and the reigning Cy Young winner looks to benefit from a fresh start in the NL with a contender. He improves to 8-9, and notched his fourth complete game.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/30, 7:49 PM CT
Cliff Lee is slated to make his first start with the Phillies Friday against the Giants at AT&T Park, according to Scott Lauber's twitter page.

Our View: Lee was only 7-9 with the struggling Indians this season, but the reigning Cy Young winner could have a strong second half with the defending World Series champs, assuming he can handle pitching his home games at launching pad Citizens Bank Park.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 1:05 PM CT
According to Ken Rosenthal at FOXSports.com, the Phillies and Indians have agreed on a deal that will send pitcher Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco to Philadelphia in exchange for Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco and two other prospects.

Our View: Knapp is considered to be the main ingredient in the trade and the Tribe takes in a decent haul, but the Phillies got their big name starter and now have to be considered the favorites in the National League to return to the World Series. Lee should see an increase in wins with the Phillies' lineup at his disposal, and if he can keep the ball in the park in Philly his fantasy value should increase significantly.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 12:30 PM CT
According to the Associate Press, the Phillies have made an official offer to the Indians for Cliff Lee.

Our View: The package is said to include Single-A righty Jason Knapp, Triple-A righty Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson. Knapp is the centerpiece, but the real key to the deal is that the Phils get to keep J.A. Happ and Kyle Drabek (something they couldn't have done if they wanted to land Roy Halladay). This appears to be a much more affordable option. More updates to come as this deal is really heating up.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 11:09 AM CT
According to FOX Sports, the Phillies are the new front runner for Indians' ace Cliff Lee.

Our View: The Phillies would have to give up significantly less for Lee than they would for Roy Halladay, so this may be the more realistic of the two options. Single-A starter Jason Knapp is considered to be the centerpiece of the deal, which would also include Carlos Carrasco (who was scratched from his Triple-A start today). Lee would considerably help a struggling Phillies' rotation and his fantasy value would likely increase (more wins) if he can keep the ball down the band box the Phillies play in.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/27, 11:32 PM CT
The Angels are another team that are apparently in relatively heavy pursuit of Cliff Lee, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Second baseman Howie Kendrick would apparently be part of a possible deal that would likely include at least one or two other prospects, and possibly a starting pitcher, as well. It remains to be seen whether or not Cleveland will move Lee, but you can bet that the rumors will continue to be rampant as the trade deadline approaches.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/27, 5:18 PM CT
The Yankees apparently had a scout in attendance for Cliff Lee's start against Seattle on Sunday, according to AOL Fanhouse.

Our View: Lee continues to be one of the main sources of trade rumors, and with a contract through the 2010 season, it remains to be seen whether or not the Indians will move him. Lee's stock would certainly increase if he moved to a contender and got more opportunities to win ball games.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/26, 10:57 PM CT
Both teams have "strongly denied" reports that the Indians and Dodgers have been discussing a blockbuster deal that would send Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez to L.A. for one of the Dodgers young rotation mainstays and James Loney, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View: The word blockbuster is overused in sports, but this would truly be a blockbuster, an earth-shattering trade in the world of baseball. It's hard to believe the Dodgers would be willing to trade either Clayton Kershaw or Chad Billingsley, but Lee and V-Mart are both in the primes of their careers and relatively cheap. Stay tuned.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/26, 6:36 PM CT
Cliff Lee won his third straight start on Sunday, allowing just two runs in seven innings, as the Indians routed the Mariners 12-3 in Seattle.

Our View: Lee, who has famously received very little run support this season, is now 7-9. With the trading deadline coming this Friday, Sunday could have been Lee's last start in an Indians uniform. Were here to actually be traded, you could expect him to double his first half wins total.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/23, 5:29 PM CT
The Rays have reportedly discussed a trade with the Indians involving Cliff Lee, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Our View: The two sides were not close to a deal as of Wednesday night. The Indians want multiple top prospects in exchange for Lee, and would like to acquire Wade Davis as the featured blue chip in a potential trade with Tampa Bay. The reigning Cy Young winner has been a disappointment this season - but could finish strong with a much-better supporting cast if dealt to the defending AL champs.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/22, 11:30 AM CT
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers are scouting Indians' ace Cliff Lee.

Our View: The Brew Crew sent a scout to watch Lee pitch against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night and were treated to a nine-inning, one-run performance by the Tribe's ace. The Brewers desperately need pitching and they likely don't have the prospects to land Roy Halladay (after trading most of them away for a CC Sabathia rental last season), so Lee would be a more feasible option.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/21, 8:52 PM CT
Cliff Lee was in control from the hill in Tuesday's 2-1 win at Toronto, as he only issued one earned run on seven hits over nine innings. He had no walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Lee has allowed one earned run in each of his last two starts, and trimmed his ERA to 3.17. The reigning Cy Young winner is pitching like an elite hurler again since coming off the All-Star break. He notched his third complete game of the season tonight.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/16, 8:57 PM CT
Cliff Lee went the distance on Thursday night, scattering nine hits as the Indians silenced the Mariners 4-1 in Cleveland.

Our View: Lee rebounded from a few mediocre outings in a row on Thursday, and now has two complete games on the season. He's not dominating like he did in 2008, but still has a 3.31 ERA and is the among the AL league leaders in many categories.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/10, 9:22 PM CT
Cliff Lee gave up three earned runs on five hits over seven innings in Friday's 5-1 loss at Detroit. He had two walks and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: The reigning Cy Young winner suffered his ninth loss of the season, and is winless over his last five starts. His fantasy stock continues to be hindered while pitching for the struggling Indians (34-53).
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/5, 3:32 PM CT
Cliff Lee struggled a bit again on Sunday as the Indians fell to the A's by a score of 5-2. Lee went six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out three.

Our View: Lee wasn't nearly as bad today as he was in his last start, but Lee owners should be concerned about his recent play. He has been good for a majority of the season, but he is far from the Cy Young winner we saw last season.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/30, 10:23 PM CT
Cliff Lee was lit up for seven earned runs on 11 hits over a mere three innings of work in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the rival White Sox at Progressive Field. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: This was a nightmarish performance from the reigning Cy Young winner. He falls to 4-7, and continues to disappoint fantasy owners. He has gone three straight starts without a win.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/25, 9:18 PM CT
Cliff Lee only surrendered two earned runs on four hits over seven innings in Thursday's 3-2 loss at Pittsburgh. He issued three walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: It was a solid outing for Lee other than the three free passes, but he was forced to take a no-decision due to poor run support from his teammates. The reigning Cy Young winner remains at 4-6, despite a 2.92 ERA. The struggling Indians continue to hinder his fantasy stock.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/24, 7:25 PM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports indicates that the Dodgers had internal discussions regarding a trade to acquire Indians' ace Cliff Lee.

Our View: The Indians are not going to let the reigning Cy Young winner go for a low price, and it remains to be seen if the Dodgers are willing to part with the top prospects it would likely take to acquire him. Lee's fantasy stock could improve if he did leave the struggling Indians for a solid team, such as the Dodgers.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/19, 6:43 PM CT
Cliff Lee allowed three earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Friday's 8-7 loss at the Cubs. He had three walks and five strikeouts, and gave up two homers. The battle lasted 10 innings.

Our View: Lee took a no-decision, and remains at 2-0 over four starts in June. Lee is not as dominant this season as he was when he claimed the Cy Young award in 2008, and continues to hold a losing record at 4-6.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/14, 11:50 PM CT
Cliff Lee took a no-hitter into the eighth inning Sunday night against the Cardinals. Lee pitched a complete game shutout and he gave up three hits while walking two and striking out six.

Our View: Lee sure looked like a Cy Young winner tonight, and he had the Cards' hitters absolutely baffled all night. Lee has been a bit of a disappointment this season, but after tonight's start he looks to be right back on track. Expect good things in his future.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/9, 9:17 PM CT
Cliff Lee struggled in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Royals at Progressive Field, as he gave up four earned runs on 11 hits over six innings. He had one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Lee is lucky the Indians provided enough offensive support for him to avoid a loss. He has been inconsistent this season, and is not the same pitcher that won the Cy Young in 2008.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/3, 10:22 PM CT
Cliff Lee allowed just one run over eight innings as the Indians won 10-1 in Minnesota on Wednesday. He gave up seven hits and a walk while striking out five.

Our View: Lee has put together a long string of strong outings since a couple rough starts to begin the season. Since then, he has allowed just 16 earned runs in 72 innings and his ERA is now down to 2.96.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/29, 10:57 PM CT
Cliff Lee had another quality outing, but ended up with yet another hard luck loss. He allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings in a 3-1 loss to the Yankees.

Our View: It seems like nothing is going right for Lee and the Indians this season. Lee now has nine quality starts in a row and owns a 3.16 ERA, but is just 2-4 during those starts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/24, 4:15 PM CT
Cliff Lee scattered eight hits and a walk, allowing three earned runs over six innings against the Reds on Sunday. He struck out four, but did not factor in the decision as the Indians fell 4-3 in the 11th.

Our View: Lee has been very good since getting off to a miserable start to the season that followed up an even more miserable spring. He has not allowed more than three earned runs in an outing since his second start of the season and has seen his ERA dip from 9.90 to 3.04. Looks like last year's Cy Young winner has it figured out once again.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/19, 10:21 PM CT
Cliff Lee was very good on Tuesday, but he was betrayed by his bullpen in the Indians' 6-5 loss to the Royals. Lee went eight innings and allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out three.

Our View: Lee got the job done, but unfortunately his closer didn't. Although he didn't pick up the win, this makes his second straight excellent start. Fantasy owners should expect more good things to come from Lee.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/13, 1:35 PM CT
Cliff Lee hurled seven scoreless innings with six hits allowed in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the division rival White Sox at Progressive Field. He issued one walk and fired nine strikeouts.

Our View: This was a strong outing for the reigning Cy Young winner. He snapped a personal four-game skid without claiming a win.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/8, 8:36 PM CT
Cliff Lee lost again on Friday, but it wasn't due to a poor outing. He threw eight innings, allowing just one run on seven hits and two walks, but Justin Verlander proved too much for Cleveland's offense. Lee dropped to 1-5 as the Tigers took home a 1-0 victory.

Our View: Lee has been good lately after a dreadful start to the season. Today's strong outing dropped his ERA to a season-low 3.45 and he racked up his fifth quality start in a row.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/3, 3:11 PM CT
Cliff Lee picked up another loss on Sunday dropping his record to 1-4 on the year. He went seven innings and allowed three runs on twelve hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Lee found a way to work out of quite a few jams today, but his offense couldn't figure out how to solve Justin Verlander. Lee has pitched well as of late, but he has nothing to show for it.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/28, 12:20 AM CT
Cliff Lee threw eight shutout innings in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Red Sox. He struck out five while allowing only five base runners.

Our View: Lee has given up just three earned runs in his last 22 innings of work, but he has just one win to show for it. He clearly looks like he has recovered from the awful pitching that plagued him in his first two starts of the season.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/23, 6:50 PM CT
During a radio spot, ESPN's Peter Gammons reported that he doesn't think the Indians will trade last year's CY Young winner Cliff Lee. He has been the focus of trade rumors lately.

Our View: Gammons is the baseball guru and his instincts are usually right on, but why the Indians would want to keep Lee is a bit of a mystery right now. He had a dreadful spring and is off to a poor start this season as well. He is 1-3 with a 5.25 and a colossal 1.75 WHIP.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/23, 7:00 AM CT
There is a rumor circulating that the Indians are willing to trade Cliff Lee, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. An official close to the club said, "I think they would love to trade him."

Our View: The Indians are not sure that Lee is an ace hurler at the top of their rotation, and are also uncertain of what type of contract to offer him in the future. He is off to a poor start with a 1-3 record and a 1.75 WHIP.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/22, 9:35 PM CT
Cliff Lee was very good on Wednesday night, but his offense couldn't give him any support as he took the loss against the Royals. Lee threw eight innings, allowing only two runs on nine hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Our View: Lee has been very good in his last two starts, and he appears to be regaining his form from last season. Lee owners should feel much more confident in him after these last two outings, and you should expect him to keep this up.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/16, 4:30 PM CT
Cliff Lee picked up his first win of the season on Thursday, lasting six innings while surrendering one run off seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts against the Yankees.

Our View: While the outing was by no means a jaw-dropping performance, it was still very nice to see Lee log a successful start after a rough first two showings to start the season. Hopefully you didn't freak out too much and sell him ultra-low on him prior to today.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/11, 3:32 PM CT
Cliff Lee was blasted for four runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings Saturday in a loss to Toronto.

Our View: Well, this was better than his first outing, but that's not saying much. Lee is better than this, but his ability lies somewhere in between the 2007 and 2008 versions.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/6, 4:07 PM CT
The Rangers tore through Cliff Lee's repertoire of pitches in a 9-1 win over Cleveland on Monday. The reigning AL Cy Young allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs through five innings of work.

Our View: Lee was popularly seen as the one player who wouldn't come close to matching his 2008 level of production. So far that assumption appears to be dead on. In 2008, he allowed four total earned runs over his first seven starts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/1, 7:15 PM CT
Cliff Lee was roughed up again Wednesday as he allowed seven runs on nine hits in just five innings. His spring ERA is now a bloated 12.46.

Our View: It seems like ages ago that Lee won the Cy Young because of how dreadful he has been this spring. His big season last year came out of nowhere, so it could have been a fluke. Buyer beware this season.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/27, 6:46 PM CT
Cliff Lee was atrocious on Friday, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits over five innings. His lone bright spot on the day was six Ks.

Our View: That Cy Young is looking more and more like a fluke. Lee now has a 12.42 ERA this spring. Take a deep breath before you draft him.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/23, 12:01 AM CT
Cliff Lee lasted five innings while allowing six hits and two earned runs as the Indians fell to the Rockies 4-3 on Sunday. He struck out three while walking none.

Our View: This performance lowered his ERA to a robust 12.34 this spring. No one really thought that Lee would make another run at a Cy Young, but if this spring's any indication, than last season may have been a complete mirage. Keep your expectations in check regarding the Indians ace.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/17, 8:17 PM CT
Cliff Lee was rocked again by the team he will see on Opening Day. The Rangers tattooed him for ten runs on 11 hits over just 2.2 innings. His spring ERA is now just south of 20.00.

Our View: Last year's Cy Young winner has had a dreadful spring. We'd like to think Lee would be a solid option again this season, but last year's numbers did come out of nowhere. If you draft him, pray he's not an incredible flash in the pan.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/17, 10:02 AM CT
Cliff Lee will make his third spring start today against Texas, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Lee could use a solid outing today, as he allowed five earned runs and eight hits over four innings so far, and the opposition is batting .444 against him. He is expected to meet the Rangers again on opening day April 6.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/11, 6:09 PM CT
Cliff Lee's second outing of the spring was as forgettable as his first. He gave up four runs, three earned, five hits, and a walk in three innings of work. He also made his first error of the spring and the Indians lost 5-0 to the Rockies.

Our View: It seems impossible for Lee to recreate the 22-win Cy Young performance from a season ago. In fact, the thought of completely imploding might be more probable. Lee should have a solid season, but don't consider him a Top 10 pitcher after one good season. Just two seasons ago, Lee carried a 6.29 ERA in 97.1 innings of work.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/6, 7:34 PM CT
Cliff Lee gave up two earned runs on three hits in an inning of work Friday's 17-7 loss to the Brewers.

Our View: It's anybody's guess as to which version of Lee will appear in 2009. It could very well be the one that posted 22 wins in '08, but then again, it could just as easily be the version that recorded 19 wins over '06 and '07 combined.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/6, 10:34 AM CT
Cliff Lee is set for his first start of the preseason today against Milwaukee, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Lee won't likely win 20 games again this season, and may not be a solid source for strikeouts, so he shouldn't be overvalued on draft day. Target him among the top-30 fantasy hurlers.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 1/8, 6:17 PM CT
Cliff Lee still has two more years to think about it, but he is willing to sign a contract extension with the Indians if the terms are right, according to the Indians Official Website. "If they want to discuss it, we're open to the discussion," said Darek Braunecker, Lee's agent. "That ball's in their court, in that regard."

Our View: Lee is scheduled to make $5.75 million this year and has an option for $9 million for 2010. Given the uncertainty surrounding pitchers and long term deals, in addition to the fact that Lee never pitched like a superstar prior to last year, we would be surprised to see the two sides come to an agreement in the near future.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 1/7, 5:15 PM CT
Cliff Lee will not pitch in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: By avoiding the WBC, Lee will be able to remain on his traditional schedule to get prepared for the season. The lefty won the AL Cy Young last season after posting a 22-3 record.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 11/13, 1:31 PM CT
As expected, Indians hurler Cliff Lee has been named the winner of the 2008 American League Cy Young Award, according to the AP.

Our View: Lee was dominant this season, going 22-3 with a 2.54 ERA and 1.11 WHIP while striking out 170 batters and walking just 34 in 223.1 innings. Roy Halladay came in second place.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 11/9, 4:44 PM CT
Cliff Lee is the leading contender for the AL Cy Young award which will be announced on November 13th, according to MLB.com. The NL award, likely to come down to a choice between Tim Lincecum, Johan Santana and Brandon Webb will be announced on November 11th.

Our View: Lee will face his stiffest opposition from Roy Halladay of the Blue Jays, but given the fact that voters pay such close attention to records, Lee's 22-3 mark figures to give him the advantage over Halladay's 20-11 mark.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 10/24, 6:36 PM CT
Cliff Lee was chosen to the AL All-Star team as the starting pitcher as selected by the Sporting News, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: Lee was chosen over the likes of Roy Halladay for the top honor here, a deserving call given his 22-3 mark, 2.54 ERA and 1.11 WHIP for the Indians.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 10/23, 12:05 PM CT
Cliff Lee was given the 2008 Players Choice Award for Comeback Player of the American League, according to Newsday.com.

Our View: Lee dominated AL lineups in 2008, with a 22-3 record and a 2.54 ERA. Lee also won the AP's Comeback Player award for the AL, and is favored to win this year's AL Cy Young award, as well.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 10/20, 1:24 PM CT
Cliff Lee has been named the AL Pitcher of the Year by the Sporting News in a vote by over 300 of his peers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Lee was also named the AL's Outstanding Pitcher in the Players Choice Awards. Catcher Kelly Shoppach said, "He's always had the stuff, but this year he coupled that stuff with the ability to locate and trust his pitches. He had zero fear of throwing to either side of the plate, no matter who the hitter was."

Our View: Lee is also the favorite to win the coveted AL Cy Young Award, after nailing down 22 wins in 2008, with a 2.54 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/30, 12:30 PM CT
Cliff Lee has been named the AL Comeback Player of the Year while winning 22 games with a 2.54 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, according to the AP.

Our View: He was a lock for the award, as he is also a top candidate for the Cy Young Award. He won three more games than he had over his previous two campaigns combined.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/27, 6:49 PM CT
Cliff Lee has been scratched from his start Sunday due to a stiff neck, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Cy-young front-runner will end the season with 22 wins and ERA of 2.54 and a WHIP of 1.11.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/26, 7:41 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Cliff Lee remains questionable for his final start of the season due to neck stiffness, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The team will make their decision on Lee on Saturday, but it does not look like he will pitch since his neck is still bothering him today. The team will not put the 22-game winner in jeopardy of injuring himself worse. Bryan Bullington would take the hill Sunday in his place if needed.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/25, 6:25 PM CT
The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports that it's looking more and more as if Cliff Lee will miss Sunday's start against Chicago in the season finale. Lee didn't throw his scheduled bullpen session Thursday because of a stiff neck. "He's been feeling it for a while," said manager Eric Wedge.

Our View: Lee (22-3, 2.54) has already thrown a career-high 223 1/3 innings and has shown signs of fatigue in his last three starts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/24, 6:25 PM CT
Manager Eric Wedge said it's possible that American League Cy Young favorite Cliff Lee may not start Sunday's season finale against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "Let's just see what that game means," said Wedge. "As of right now he's starting." The White Sox are currently leading their division by 1.5 games.

Our View: Lee (22-3, 2.54) has already thrown a career-high 223 1/3 innings and has shown signs of fatigue in his last three starts. Assuming the game does mean something, Lee should get the call.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/23, 9:02 PM CT
Probable Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee was hit hard, giving up five runs on nine hits in seven innings as the Indians lost to the Red Sox, 5-4.

Our View: Lee is faltering just a bit, having given up four runs, three runs and now five runs in his last three outings. His ERA went up .13 runs in this outing alone.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/17, 10:08 PM CT
Cliff Lee, who seems to have the Cy Young locked up, gave up 10 hits and three walks against the Twins on Wednesday night. However, he limited the damage to three earned runs and avoided that dreaded third loss as the Indians rallied to win 6-4.

Our View: He's lost it. Ditch him. That's what we would tell you if we were in your fantasy league.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/12, 9:20 PM CT
Cliff Lee got plenty of run support in winning his 11th straight decision on Friday night. The Indians won 12-5 as Lee narrowly missed his fifth complete game of the season. He is now 20 games over .500. He allowed four runs in 8.1 innings and improved to 5-0 this season against Kansas City.

Our View: Cy Young. Can someone explain to me how this guy had to war his way through Spring Training to lock down the fifth starter's spot in the Indians rotation? Nearly all the predictions placed on the Indians have not come true in 2008, both the good ones and the bad.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/11, 7:26 PM CT
Cliff Lee is almost assured of winning the AL Cy Young award after his remarkable season that has resulted in a 21-2 mark with a 2.28 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP, according to The Plain Dealer.

Our View: Want some more numbers to speak to his effectiveness? Try these on for size. (1) He is 9-0 with a 2.15 ERA at home. (2) In 28 starts he has walked 28 batters. (3) He has allowed only eight home runs all year. Add that all up and he is not only the AL Cy Young favorite, he is also the favorite to wing the title of pitcher who returned the most value above his draft day cost.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/7, 4:34 PM CT
Indians pitcher Cliff Lee won his 21st game of the season by throwing 7.1 innings and giving up just one run on seven hits in the Tribe's 3-1 win over the Royals.

Our View: No fantasy owner could have possibly seen this coming, and who knows if he will follow it up in 2009 with a similar performance, but right now, he is arguably the best pitcher in the American League.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/3, 1:05 PM CT
Cliff Lee has been named the AL Pitcher of the Month for August, according to the AP.

Our View: The Indians' ace went 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA during the month, becoming the majors’ first 20-game winner with an overall record of 20-2. He also is the first Cleveland pitcher to win 20 games since Gaylord Perry did it back in 1974.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 9/1, 10:16 PM CT
Cliff Lee became the first Indians hurler since 1974 (Gaylord Perry) to win 20 games as he improved to 20-2 with his masterpiece over the White Sox, a complete game, five hit shutout.

Our View: Lee has lasted at least five innings in every one of his 27 starts this season, he has allowed two or fewer runs 21 times, and in 10 games he hasn't walked a single batter. He can dust a spot off on his mantle for the Cy Young award.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/26, 9:30 PM CT
The Indians and Tigers put more than a few hits on the board this evening, but Cleveland found better efficiency and earned the win, 10-4. The effort, as is oftent the case, was led by ace Cliff Lee, going 7 2/3 innings to allow just two runs (both earned) on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Lee moves to 19-2 on the season with a 2.43 ERA. That puts Lee at 5-0 for the month of August, going at least seven innings in each with a combined total of eight earned runs with seven walks and 20 strikeouts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/21, 3:04 PM CT
Cliff Lee allowed two earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Royals at Progressive Field, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Lee improves to 18-2, and is 4-0 in August, with two or less earned runs allowed in all four outings.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/15, 9:00 PM CT
Cliff Lee added another chapter to his storybook 2008 season Friday, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts over all nine innings. It was Lee's third complete game of the season, and he now has an improbable record of 17-2.

Our View: Those that thought they could "sell high" on Lee at the All-Star break are likely regretting the decision, as he's still been dynamite.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/10, 3:46 PM CT
Cliff Lee hurled another gem in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jays, as he notched eight scoreless innings, with eight hits allowed, to go along with no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Lee improves to an American League-leading 16 wins, and lowered his ERA to 2.45.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/4, 9:19 PM CT
Cleveland hurler Cliff Lee won his 15th game of the season, downing the Rays 5-2. Lee threw seven innings, allowing just two earned runs.

Our View: Lee's Cy Young season continues. Lee gave up eight hits and walked just two with a bounce back effort after he gave up six earned runs in his last start.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/20, 8:56 PM CT
Cleveland LHP Cliff Lee continues to roll, lifting his Indians to a 6-2 win over Seattle today with his third complete game of the season. Lee pitched all nine innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on 11 hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Lets go over some impressive numbers. For starters, Lee has pitched five starts, going at least six innings in each, without giving up a homer. During that same stretch, he has surrendered six walks versus 34 strikeouts. During that stretch, he's allowed a combined total of nine earned runs.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/15, 8:24 PM CT
Cliff Lee threw two scoreless inning for the American League after starting the All-Star Game. He struck out three batters, including the first two he faced, and gave up just one hit, to Chipper Jones.

Our View: Lee showed why he was the starter, striking out Hanley Ramirez and Chase Utley to start the game, and later getting Ryan Braun on strikes.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/14, 11:19 AM CT
Cliff Lee has been given the honor of starting the All-Star Game for the American League, according to the AP.

Our View: This is impressive considering he was demoted to the minors last season. Lee is currently 12-2 with a 2.31 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/11, 9:26 PM CT
Cliff Lee added his 12th victory to go with six more shutout innings on Friday against the Rays. He struck out seven in the effort.

Our View: Lee is 5-0 with a 1.62 ERA in seven home starts.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/6, 6:07 PM CT
Cliff Lee picked up his first loss since May 18 when he swuared off against the red-hot Twins on Sunday. He lasted seven innings and struck out six while giving up four earned runs on six hits and a pair of walks.

Our View: This is a bump in the road for Lee, who only gave up seven earned runs in his previous 30 innings. It will be interesting to see if he can possibly keep the momentum from a dominant first half after the All-Star break.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/5, 2:30 PM CT
Cliff Lee will be the AL starter for the 2008 All-Star game, the New York Post reports. The southpaw is 11-1 with a 2.26 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 93 strikeouts this season.

Our View: This news isn't too surprising. Lee seemed like the favorite, although we liked the idea of Mariano Rivera working the first inning of the festivities at Yankee Stadium.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/1, 10:14 PM CT
Cliff Lee only allowed one earned run on six hits over eight innings in Tuesday's close 3-2 loss to the division rival White Sox, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: He had another strong outing, but was dealt a no decision due to a lack of run support. Lee is 5-0 over his last seven starts, and has only surrendered one earned run in three straight.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/26, 10:21 PM CT
Cliff Lee once again flashed his dominating form on Thursday night with a career-high 11 strikeouts in eight innings to defeat the Giants for his 11th victory of the season. Lee dominated the Giants hitter throwing 79 of 111 pitches for strikes while holding them to just four hits and a BB.

Our View: Every time we are just about ready to write him off and say the run has ended, he bounces back with an outing like this. As long as he keeps throwing strikes and doesn't walk anyone, he should continue to be one of the best hurlers in the junior circuit.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/21, 1:19 AM CT
Cliff Lee pitched spectacularly on Friday allowing the Dodgers just one run over seven innings though his reward was a no-decision. Lee walked one and permitted six hits on the night.

Our View: 14 starts and this big lefty still has a rock bottom ERA of 2.45. From the minors to possibly starting the All-Star game in nine months, what an incredible journey.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/20, 3:51 PM CT
Cliff Lee will be shooting for his 11th win on the season when the Indians battle the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight, according to MLB.com. Lee is 10-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 88.1 innings, with 76 strikeouts.

Our View: Lee has allowed two or less earned runs in nine of 13 starts this season, and has issued zero walks five times.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/14, 10:24 PM CT
Cleveland LHP Cliff Lee put another worthy performance in the hands of his relievers, but they let it go in the 10th inning for the 9-4 loss to San Diego. Lee pitched 6 1/3 innings to allow two runs (both earned) on eight hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Lee came in riding four consecutive wins and pitched well enough for another, but the relievers couldn't seal the deal. Lee touts just nine walks versus 30 strikouts during that span.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/4, 11:25 PM CT
Cliff Lee needed 112 pitches and an aspirin after his five innings on the mound against the Rangers Wednesday night. Lee somehow salvaged a win as he watched his teammates rally for five runs in the sixth to take the lead for good. Lee allowed six runs on nine hits, walked two and struck out eight. The win is Lee's ninth of the season.

Our View: Everything ball that could bounce funny, did so on Wednesday night. The Rangers keep the dirt in their infield dry and the grass cut so low that the surface plays more like artificial turf. The outfield corners are an added nightmare to command -- balls rattle around with no rhyme or reason. And even when the wind is blowing in, balls carry in Arlington. The stadium is a pitcher's hell.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/18, 3:50 PM CT
Cleveland LHP Cliff Lee suffered his first loss of the season, lasting just 5 2/3 innings to surrender six runs (five earned) on 10 hits, walking one and striking out two.

Our View: Lee surrendered two homers on the day, but that accounted for just three of those earned runs. The rest were spread out in what easily ranks as Lee's worst performance to date.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/18, 9:08 AM CT
More than a few eyes will be on the afternoon battle that brings the Cleveland Indians and LHP Cliff Lee to Great American Ball Park to face the Cincinnati Reds and RHP Edinson Volquez.

Our View: Lee enters with an amazing record of 6-0 and an equally impressive 0.67 ERA while Volquez sits at 6-1 with a 1.12 ERA. Lee lacked the offensive support to be the first Cleveland pitcher in 86 years to win his first seven starts of the season and left with no decision despite pitching nine shutout innings. He carries a 3-1 record with an ERA of 5.60 against the Reds over his career.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/12, 9:42 PM CT
Cliff Lee failed to become the American League's first seven-game winner even though he worked nine scoreless innings and lowered his ERA to 0.67.

Our View: The left-hander gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out five.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/12, 1:18 PM CT
Cliff Lee will look to remain unbeaten this season when the Indians host the Blue Jays in the second game of a double-header tonight, according to MLB.com. Lee is 6-0 this season with a microscopic 0.81 ERA and 0.60 WHIP over 44.2 innings, with only two walks and 39 strikeouts.

Our View: He is having an unbelievable season for a guy that had to fight for a bottom-of-the rotation spot through spring training. Lee is 0-3 with a 6.94 ERA in five career games against the Blue Jays, so this will be an interesting outing for him.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/7, 9:42 PM CT
Cliff Lee continued his amazing start on Wednesday as he hurled seven shutout innings against the Yankees to improve to 6-0 on the season.

Our View: Through six starts, Lee owns a 0.81 ERA with two BB in 47.2 IP. Lee isn't Sandy Koufax, but no one is pitching better right now. Obviously this cannot continue, and it might be a great idea to try and move Lee for a struggling stud to a team that is willing to buy high.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/3, 4:45 PM CT
Cliff Lee has been named the AL Pitcher of the Month for April, according to the AP. Lee won each of his five starts to earn the first monthly honor of his career. In 37.2 innings, Lee allowed just one home run, 19 hits, four earned runs and two walks. He struck out 32 batters and had an ERA of 0.96 and a WHIP of 0.56.

Our View: In his best outing of the month, Lee hurled a shutout against the Royals on April 24. He is off to a tremendous start for a guy who was not guaranteed a spot in the Indians' rotation through spring training.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/30, 9:41 PM CT
Cliff Lee ran his record to 5-0 on Wednesday night as he allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings.

Our View: Lee lost his scoreless streak at 27 innings, but if you are bitter about that, well, you aren't smart as he has posted a dynamic 0.96 ERA and 0.56 WHIP over his five starts providing massive value for a wavier-wire pickup.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/24, 11:48 PM CT
Cliff Lee continued to dazzle on Thursday night as he pitched a complete game shutout against the Royals to improve to 4-0.

Our View: Lee is totally out of his mind right now having allowed one earned run over four starts, not to mention his 29 K, two BB ratio. Who knows what to predict from here other than a regression at some point, and given his recent history now might be time to bail on him and trade him when the trading is good.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/18, 10:55 PM CT
Cliff Lee continued his dominating start to the season with eight innings of two hit ball to pick up his third victory of the season against zero defeats. Lee has allowed a total of one earned run in 22.2 innings, a 0.40 ERA, and he has 20 K and just two BB on the season.

Our View: Wow. Let us say that again. Wow. Lee simply cannot keep up this pace, but with the way he is pitching now he has already marked himself as the best waiver-wire pick up in the AL in the early going.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/13, 3:49 PM CT
Cliff Lee was brilliant off the mound for the Cleveland Indians today, earning the win as the Tribe beat up on the A’s, 1-7. Lee pitched through 8 innings of work, allowing just one run on two hits.

Our View: Lee failed to surrender a single walk but garnered EIGHT strikeouts on the day, bringing his ERA to a lowly 0.61 on the season. With just 102 pitches thrown, Lee totaled 67 strikes and ruled the day in a big win for the Indians, bringing Lee to 2-0 on the season.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/6, 11:37 PM CT
Cliff Lee won his first start of the '08 season on Sunday by retiring 10 of his last 12 batters as Cleveland won a 2-1 battle over the Oakland Athletics. Lee gave up four hits and struck out four in 6.2 innings of work. Just 5-8 over 16 starts during an injury-filled 2007, Lee retired his first seven hitters in Sunday's win. He walked one and only gave up one unearned run in helping the Indians halt a three-game losing streak.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/6, 1:44 PM CT
Cliff Lee is going to start at Oakland today, and notably hasn't fared well against the Athletics on the road, according to MLB.com. He is 2-1 with a 3.08 against the A's at home over seven career starts, but is 0-1 with a 7.59 ERA over two starts at McAfee Coliseum. He is going to square off against Joe Blanton.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/27, 6:59 PM CT
Cliff Lee surrendered four runs on six hits (two home runs) over 5.1 innings in a no decision against Tampa Bay on Thursday, with no walks and six strikeouts. Lee lacks consistency, but will be the Indians' fifth starter in the rotation.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/24, 10:09 AM CT
According to the Plain Dealer, Cliff Lee made it and lefty Aaron Fultz didn't. GM Mark Shapiro told the media outlet on Monday morning that Lee will be the Indians fifth starter. Fultz, who struggled this spring, is expected to be released or designated for assignment. Lee has always shown potential, but until he is more consistent from start-to-start, his value rests in AL-only formats.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/22, 3:47 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Cliff Lee might have wrapped up the fifth starter's job with his Saturday spring work. The Indians left-hander threw five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out five. Lee has always flashed promise, but his inconsistencies have created issues with the Cleveland coaching staff and in the fantasy nation.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/17, 4:18 PM CT
Cliff Lee was rocked for six runs on 11 hits over four innings of work on Monday in a 6-4 loss to Philadelphia. Lee is battling for a bottom of the rotation job and today's performance set his back a bit.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/11, 7:31 PM CT
Cliff Lee was solid Tuesday, as he held the Tigers' split squad scoreless over three innings. He allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out three. Lee is in a battle with Jeremy Sowers and Aaron Laffey for the final spot in the Indians rotation, and he made a good case for himself today.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/4, 4:31 PM CT
Finally over a bout with a sinus infection, Cliff Lee was on the mound for the Indians on Tuesday. "I’ve never been sick for a week and felt that bad," he told the AP. "It feels good to feel good now. I felt like I threw the ball remotely close to where I wanted to, so I’ll take that." Lee's performance was good, as he allowed just one hit, no walks and no runs in his lone inning of action. It looked even better compared to what his competition for the fifth spot in the Indians rotation did: Aaron Laffey allowed three hits, three walks and five earned runs in 2/3 of an inning; Jeremy Sowers gave up four hits, a walk and two earned runs in one inning.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 2/25, 8:59 PM CT
Cliff Lee will either end up with the fifth spot in the Indians rotation or he will likely end up back in the minors, this according to MLB.com. When asked if the the loser of the battle end up in the team's bullpen, this is what manager Eric Wedge had to say. "That's not something we're considering right now. I wouldn't rule it out, but we're not considering that right now." Lee is battling Jeremy Sowers and Aaron Laffey for the last spot in the rotation, and the other loser will also likely end up in the minors as well.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 12/5, 10:54 AM CT
Cliff Lee's agent, Darek Braunecker, believes the hurler will be traded sometime this offseason, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "If you consider all those guys to be similar, Cliff is their most expendable guy," said Braunecker. "I'm expecting them to move him." The Cardinals are one team that's already expressed interest in Lee, and it's possible a deal could get done involving Anthony Reyes.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/4, 1:08 PM CT
The Indians are expected to use Cliff Lee as a long reliever for the rest of the season. ''Cliff probably will be the long guy,'' manager Eric Wedge told the Akron Beacon-Journal. ''But we have enough guys out there for us to be able to put it (a lengthy relief stint) together. The reality is a long reliever usually works no more than three innings, maybe four.'' There will be no fantasy value for Lee unless he works his way back into the rotation.
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/2, 6:20 AM CT
Cliff Lee was recalled from Triple-A Saturday, though he won't be used in the rotation. He was 1-3 with a 3.51 ERA in eight starts at Buffalo, following a dreadful run in Cleveland (6.38 ERA over 16 starts).
Cliff Lee, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/27, 3:59 PM CT
The Indians optioned Cliff Lee to Triple-A Buffalo Friday. Lee has been a mess this year, sporting a 6.38 ERA in 16 starts. Reliever Ed Mujica was recalled from Buffalo to take Lee's spot on the roster.
