Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 3/14, 6:53 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-3 with a solo homer off Chris Young in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Padres. His other hit was a single.

Our View: That marked Peralta's first homer and RBI of spring training. It is nice to see him display some power today, after dipping to just 11 homers in 2009.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 9/26, 10:36 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta led the Indians to a 9-8 walk-off win over the Orioles on Saturday with a 3-for-5, two-RBI performance.

Our View: Peralta is looking down the barrel of his lowest homer total in a full season for his career. He has just 11 so far, but has eased the sting for fantasy owners with 80 RBI.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 9/12, 9:46 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta paced the Indians on Saturday night, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, as Cleveland routed Kansas City 13-6 at home.

Our View: Peralta has quietly driven in 77 runs this season, putting him on pace to surpass his career high of 89 from last year.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 9/4, 9:09 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta led the Indians in tonight's 5-2 win over the Twins at Progressive Field, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: Peralta is performing well right now, as he has a hit in six of his last seven games, with five RBI over the span.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 8/23, 2:59 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday, and also homered off of Felix Hernandez, as the Indians won 6-1 at home.

Our View: The home run was his first since July 28. After getting off to a dreadful start this season, Peralta now boasts a solid triple crown line of .278/10/67.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 8/18, 9:41 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was productive in tonight's 5-4 loss to the Angels at Progressive Field, as he went 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBI.

Our View: Peralta has a four-game hitting streak, with four RBI over the span. He is hitting .306 over 62 at-bats this month as well, and is worth penciling into fantasy lineups while hot.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 8/1, 10:14 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI in tonight's 4-3 loss to the division rival Tigers at Progressive Field.

Our View: Peralta hit .296 with 20 RBI last month, and is off to a good start in August. He is worth employing in fantasy lineups while hot.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 7/26, 6:38 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta hit a grand slam on Sunday, helping Cliff Lee and the Indians breeze by the Mariners 12-3.

Our View: It was only Peralta's seventh home run of the reason. Once an excellent fantasy shortstop, you have some explaining to do if he is on your team in a 10-12 team mixed league.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 7/8, 10:12 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was responsible for the Indian's lone tally in their 5-1 loss to the White Sox on Wednesday. He hit a solo home run off of Jose Contreras in the sixth inning. It was his only hit on the day.

Our View: For a shortstop valued for his ability to hit the long ball, Peralta is a fantasy disappointment this season. He now has just six homers and isn't contributing much in other categories either with his .254 average and 36 RBI.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 7/6, 12:38 PM CT
Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that the Indians may be willing to listen to offers for shortstop Jhonny Peralta. The team is said to be looking for young pitching in return for any player traded.

Our View: Peralta has had a bit of a disappointing season after a hot spring, but he could probably pull in a decent return for the Tribe if they were to trade him. Look for the Indians to try to make several more moves before the deadline, as they appear to be sellers this season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 7/5, 3:35 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta only got one hit on Sunday, but it was a solo homer in the Indians' 5-2 loss to the A's. Peralta went 1-for-4 with the homer, a run scored, and an RBI in the game.

Our View: The Indians didn't get much going today against A's starter Gio Gonzalez, but Peralta did manage to go deep. He is a decent fantasy shortstop in AL-only formats, but probably not in mixed leagues.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 6/23, 9:34 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta carried the Indians offensively in Tuesday's 5-4 win at Pittsburgh, as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI. He hit a single and a solo homer off Evan Meek.

Our View: Peralta has two hits in three of his last four games, with two homers over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is hot.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 6/22, 8:36 AM CT
Indians manager Eric Wedge recently publicly called out Jhonny Peralta, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: "He needs to get his head on straight," the manager said of the struggling shortstop. "He can't keep trying to jerk the ball out of the park every time up. He's no baby. He's been up here four or five years. He's going to have to figure it out." Wedge is upset because Peralta is batting just .255 with only three home runs in 2009 after batting .276 with 23 last season. If you are a Peralta owner, there could be better options available in almost every format.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 6/3, 10:28 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was 3-for-5 with three RBI, a run scored, and a home run in Wednesday's 10-1 win over the Twins.

Our View: Peralta has mixed in two three hits with four no hit outings over his last six outings. His home run tonight was just his second of the season and his first since May 1. After posting only six RBI in April, he has accumulated 18 since then.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/31, 3:22 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 3-for-4 on Sunday in the Indians' 5-4 win over the Yankees. Peralta also added three RBIs to lead the way for the Tribe.

Our View: It wasn't flashy, but three singles translated into three RBI for Peralta today. More importantly, one of his RBIs came in the bottom of the ninth in the form of a walk-off single.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 5/12, 2:22 PM CT
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Jhonny Peralta will see some time at third base in the next few weeks. Manager Eric Wedge is trying to shake up his struggling Indians' team.

Our View: Under this scenario, Peralta would move to third, Luis Valbuena would move to second, Asdrubal Cabrera would move to short, and Mark DeRosa would move to first. Did you follow that? Anyway, if Peralta gains eligibility at third, his fantasy value could increase quite a bit once he starts hitting the ball.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 4/25, 5:37 PM CT
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Jhonny Peralta was benched on Saturday after going 0-for-14 on the Indians' current homestand.

Our View: Peralta strained his left elbow when the Indians were playing the Yankees in New York, and he has struggled at the plate ever since. Eventually, he should be a solid run producer for the Indians, but he is slugging just .322 to start the season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 4/17, 12:10 PM CT
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Jhonny Peralta is not in Friday's lineup for the Indians due to a sore left elbow. Asdrubal Cabrera will start at short in his absence.

Our View: This is not a big deal. Peralta said his elbow felt a little sore during batting practice, but he is receiving treatment and is expected to be back in the lineup on Saturday. He is one of the most durable players in baseball, so don't expect this to be a regular occurrence.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 3/27, 6:43 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was 2-for-4 and hit his third home run of the spring Friday. He's now hitting .435 this spring.

Our View: Peralta is having a fantastic spring and could be the big bat shortstop that everyone forgets about on draft day. You can get him late, so snatch him up. Unless you hate 20+ home runs and 80+ RBI out of your middle infielders.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 3/16, 9:11 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was 2-for-3 with a run scored in Cleveland's 4-1 win over Seattle on Monday. He is now hitting 15-for-26 (.577) this spring.

Our View: Peralta is a player worth getting excited for. The shortstop was devastating out of the No. 3 role a season ago and he plays a premium position. It's uncertain what spot in the batting order he will man in 2009, but he's making a strong case to be in the three-hole with a terrific spring.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 3/14, 7:49 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a strikeout in Saturday's 8-6 win over San Diego.

Our View: Peralta has nine RBI in 23 at-bats this spring. He will hit in the middle of Cleveland's lineup, possibly third, this season. The result could be a run at 100 RBI.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 3/3, 9:05 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta posted a huge performance against Kansas City on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double and a home run, his second in as many games.

Our View: While Peralta may lack the speed of most of his peers, he provides rare 20-plus home run power for a corner infielder. He's off to a hot start this spring.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 3/1, 11:56 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta belted his first home run of the spring on Sunday and went 2-for-3 overall with a pair of runs and RBI.

Our View: Peralta is a good source of power at shortstop, collecting 23 home runs and 89 RBI in 605 at-bats in 2008. The Indians will have more power up the middle this season now that they've added Mark DeRosa, which could up Peralta's RBI numbers even more as the the Cleveland lineup is even stronger.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 12/19, 12:49 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta has injured his hand in winter-ball, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: It is just a bruise and he is expected to be back in the lineup Friday for Aguilas in the Dominican Republic. The Indians noted that they have not yet made a decision as to whether Peralta will be moving from shortstop to third base in 2009.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 9/29, 10:30 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta may have to consider a move to third base for next season according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "In my exit meeting with Mark Shapiro and Eric Wedge, they told me they're trying to find another infielder," Peralta said on Monday. "They don't know if it's going to be a second baseman or a third baseman." If it's a second baseman, Asdrubal Cabrera is expected to move to short with Peralta moving to third.

Our View: Peralta excelled after being moved to the cleanup spot. In 84 games as the No. 4 hitter, he hit .300 with 12 home runs, 58 RBI and 63 runs scored. He has been the Indians' shortstop for the past three seasons.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 9/26, 10:03 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta will make his first start at third base on Friday because of the calf injury to Andy Marte, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I can play third base," said Peralta. "I played a half-season there at Buffalo. I don't know how I'll do there [Friday], but I'll do my best."

Our View: Pretty quietly Peralta has hit 22 home runs with 87 RBI, and he has tacked on 42 doubles as well to leave him as one of just 12 shortstops in history with 20 home runs and 40 doubles. This season is the third time in four years that he has hit at least 20 home runs with 70 RBI.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 9/17, 10:11 PM CT
Indians' cleanup hitter Jhonny Peralta hit his first home run since August 21st on Wednesday night in the Indians 6-4 win over the Twins. He finished the game 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and two runs scored. Seriously.

Our View: Peralta is just 15-for-59 this month and the home run was just his fourth extra base hit. He seems to be losing a little momentum down the stretch. Perhaps Wednesday's blast will turn things around.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 9/3, 2:46 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was the Indians' lone source of scoring in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the White Sox at Progressive Field, as he went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

Our View: Peralta has collected an RBI in four of his last seven games, and has 77 for the season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 8/23, 11:15 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta may remain in the cleanup spot when Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner return from their rehab assignments, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Manager Eric Wedge said, "We've talked about it briefly. We can work Vic and Hafner around Jhonny. We could hit Hafner and Vic three and four and Jhonny in the fifth spot. One thing we haven't decided is that we're just flat-out going to move him out of the No. 4 spot. I'm still thinking that through. That's a heckuva credit to Jhonny."

Our View: Peralta went into Friday's game against the Rangers hitting .328 (67-for-206) with 22 doubles, 10 homers and 40 RBI since taking over the cleanup spot on June 22. He also currently leads all AL shortstops with 21 homers.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 8/22, 10:44 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta only needs three more homers to tie Woodie Held for the career record by an Indians' shortstop with 85, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Peralta has four homers over his last 23 games, and is hitting a homer once every 22.4 at-bats for the season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 8/15, 9:22 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta's X-rays on his hand came back negative, according to the Columbus Dispatch. He was beaned in the hand by Daniel Cabrera of Baltimore.

Our View: The team is yet to disclose Peralta's status for Friday's game.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 8/6, 3:30 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta impressively went 5-for-5 with two RBI in Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Rays at Tropicana Field. He hit two singles, two doubles, and a solo home run. He accounted for 10 total bases in the game.

Our View: He extended his hitting streak to 10 games, and has homered in back-to-back contests. He raised his average a few points higher to .281, and should remain in fantasy lineups while he is hot.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 8/5, 10:14 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta socked his 18th homer of the season on Tuesday night. He went 2-for-4 wit a pair of RBI in a loss to the Rays.

Our View: After a slow start, Peralta is quietly turning in a solid offensive season. He'd probably be generating more buzz if most of the rest of the Indians hitters hadn't fallen apart this year.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 7/29, 10:06 PM CT
The pitching failed to meet need this evening in Cleveland as the Indians fell 8-5 to the Tigers. Shorstop Jhonny Peralta led the cause for Cleveland, going 2-for-5 with his third triple of the season to total one RBI and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Peralta is enjoying a great month of July, hitting .313 with five homers, 22 RBIs, and 19 runs scored thus far.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 7/22, 12:06 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta extended his hitting streak to 11 games by socking a solo homer on Monday night. He went 1-for-4 with two runs against the Angels. Peralta is 16-for-45 (.356) with five homers and 15 RBI during the streak.

Our View: Peralta is doing his best to make up for not helping fantasy teams much in April, May and June. Feel free to ride the hot streak while it lasts.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 7/11, 9:41 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta hit his third home run in five games on Friday of of Rays pitcher Scott Shields. His two out, opposite field blast came in the third inning with a runner on second. He was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the game.

Our View: What can we say? Jhonny loves to bat cleanup. In 18 starts batting fourth in the order, he is hitting .315 with four HRs and 15 RBI.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 7/8, 10:49 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run home run in his second consecutive game, this one coming off of Justin Verlander.

Our View: Peralta will likely set career highs for home runs and RBI this season, but if he doesn't get his average up, he does not warrant consistent play.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 7/7, 8:31 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta is never going to win the Silver Bat, but his home run on Sunday gave him two last week and 13 on the season.

Our View: Peralta is hitting .250 on the season, an average that will likely stay steady for most of the second half.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 6/25, 6:25 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta wasn't in the staring lineup on Wednesday night as he was replaced in the starting lineup by Jorge Valendia who made his first start of the year, according to MLB.com.

Our View: With Asdrubal Cabrera tearing up Triple-A hitting .456 in 14 games, Valendia's days in a Indians uniform are likely to come to an end very soon.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 5/28, 2:30 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox. It was his third long ball over the last five games.

Our View: Peralta has hit slightly better since being benched a week ago, but he remains basically a homer-or-nothing guy. His 11 bombs are nice, but his .225 average makes him look like Juan Uribe.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/22, 8:58 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta returned to the Indians' lineup on Wednesday after being benched for two straight games due to poor play, but he did not benefit from the time off to clear his head, as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the rival White Sox.

Our View: Peralta is only hitting .219 over 146 at-bats, and is playing way below his potential.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 5/21, 9:45 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta was benched for the second straight game due to lapses in concentration, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He leads the team with eight homers but made two fielding errors on Sunday, and Manager Eric Wedge stated, " He needs to be better than that. It can't happen. He's far enough along in his career where he shouldn't have stretches like that. You're going to have bad days. But you can't lose focus defensively or give away at-bats. You just can't do that. I gave Jhonny the day off Sunday. We had the off-day Monday, and I gave him another day today. So we'll give him a nice little break. He was out here early taking batting practice. I had a chance to talk to him, too. Hopefully, it will help get him back on track. I want him to be more consistent. Jhonny has such great potential to be a very good hitter and a very good player. We've seen signs of it. I just want him to be more consistent."

Our View: Wedge is trying to spark the offense, and Peralta could benefit from the time off to clear his head. He is only hitting .225 over 142 at-bats.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/15, 2:46 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-3 with one RBI and hit his seventh homer of the season in Thursday's 4-2 win over Oakland. He drew one walk and scored three runs as well.

Our View: That was only his fourth RBI over 13 games in May. That was his first homer in his last nine games as well, and is still only batting .221 for the season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 5/13, 7:46 PM CT
Lineup changes for the Cleveland Indians have hit the field this evening, according to MLB.com. Shorstop Jhonny Peralta has been moved into the 2nd spot in the batting order, a surprising move for a player in the midst of an 0-for-11 slump (sporting just five hits in his last 42 at-bats).

Our View: Manager Eric Wedge has also moved DH Travis Hafner, normally hitting 6th, into the #5 spot in the order. Hafner has just seven hits in his last 39 at-bats with no RBIs over his last eight games. "We're trying to find a combination that works and we're comfortable with and makes sense," said Wedge. The Indians' team batting average, .237, ranks last in the AL. Something had to be done, so we'll see if this brings results.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 5/6, 9:38 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta went 1-for-3 with a homer, two runs, two RBI, and a walk against the Yankees on Tuesday. He came into the game 1-for-21 over the last six contests.

Our View: Peralta is just one of many Indians who is struggling at the dish. The homer is nice, but we won't believe he's out of his slump until he can put together some multi-hit outings.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/4, 3:31 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta had a tough day at the plate in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Kansas City, as he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Our View: Peralta has now struck out 25 times over 102 at-bats. He is providing decent power with five homers but only has 10 RBI over 27 games, with a .216 average.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 4/25, 9:14 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta hit a three-run homer off Andy Pettitte in the fifth inning on Friday night, and the Cleveland Indians won their fourth straight with a 6-4 victory over New York.

Our View: It was Peralta's fifth home run in the shortstops 20th game of the season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 4/22, 1:59 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta has a good record against Gil Meche, tonight's opposing pitcher for Kansas City, according to MLB.com. He is 8-for-16 with one home run over his career against the Royals' righty.

Our View: Peralta is only hitting 15-for-66 so far, but has three homers, and should be penciled into your lineups tonight.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 4/11, 10:22 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta hit his third home run of the season on Friday night on his way to two hits, two runs and two RBI for the Indians. Peralta belongs to the second tier of power options at the shortstop position, and hitting in a loaded Indians lineup certainly means he should have a boatload of chances to knock in runs this season.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/10, 4:20 PM CT
How many of you were cursing yourself this past weekend for passing on the limited number of quality shortstops in the American League during March drafts, while waiting to use a mid-to-late round selection on Jhonny Peralta? After starting the season in a 1-for-17 hole, the Cleveland infielder arisen. His 3-for-5 performance on Wednesday, a double and home run, makes him 7-for-13 in his last three games. He currently holds a more than respectable .294 batting average. It's worth noting that Peralta is a notoriously slow starter, batting around the Mendoza line in each of his last three seasons. If he can forge forward this April and carry this production into May, it's probably a result of his ears burning after a miserable Week 1.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 4/9, 6:58 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta enjoyed a solid day at the plate in Cleveland’s 5-9 loss to the Angels today, going 3-for-5 with his third double of the season and his second home run as well. Peralta finished with just one RBI but pulled two runs scored and raised his batting average to .294 on the season. Of course, he might reflect on the four men left on base, but the outing is one to enjoy despite the shortcomings.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansThursday 10/25, 10:35 AM CT
There have been rumors of the Indians eventually moving Jhonny Peralta to third base due to his lack of range, but general manager Mark Shapiro has already stated that Peralta will be his shortstop next season, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. While a position change could still happen at some point in the future, staying at shortstop will at least make a Peralta a more valuable commodity in fantasy.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 10/19, 1:08 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta is at least in part attributing his success this regular season and in the playoffs to the laser eye surgery he had over the offseason. "I didn't see the breaking ball pitch too well," Peralta said in the AP. "I tried to use contacts, and they helped a lot. But the contacts bothered me when I put them in my eyes." Peralta said he noticed a difference the first time he picked up a bat. "I see everything real clear," he said. Peralta had a down 2006 season but hit eight more homers and upped hit batting average 13 points this year. He's batting .361 with two homers and nine RBI this postseason.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansThursday 8/30, 1:52 AM CT
Jhonny Peralta was held out of the lineup Wednesday because of his terrible career numbers against Johan Santana, the AP reports. Peralta is 3-for-28 lifetime against Santana, with 22 strikeouts.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansFriday 3/30, 9:45 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was beaned by a Victor Zambrano fastball Friday and was immediately taken out of the game, the Indians official site reports. Peralta checked out fine in the clubhouse, however
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansSunday 11/19, 9:46 AM CT
The Indians are trying to trade for a utility infielder who could push Jhonny Peralta in 2007, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. If not, they'll look to Hector Luna to compete with Peralta during spring training. Peralta is coming off a disappointing 2006 campaign after breaking out the previous year.
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 9/11, 7:11 AM CT
Indians manager Eric Wedge said he held Jhonny Peralta out of the past three games to get a look at Hector Luna at shortstop, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Jhonny has struggled on this trip offensively, but this was more about Hector," Wedge said. "I wanted to see him play the same position for two or three days. Jhonny will be back in there Tuesday."
Jhonny Peralta, 3B, Cleveland IndiansMonday 7/24, 9:50 PM CT
Jhonny Peralta was given a routine day off on Monday, according to the AP. Manager Eric Wedge said that it had nothing to do with Peralta's defensive lapse on Sunday.
