Our View: Youk has improved as of late, and it looks like he should be good to go for tonight's game. The team wouldn't be playing him if he wasn't healthy, so feel free to get him back in the lineup.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 6/3, 10:00 PM CT

Youk was in obvious immediate pain, but he did leave the field under his own power. Before leaving the game, he was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Our View: Youkilis currently leads all AL qualifying batters in slugging and on-base percentage. He has a staggering 1.147 OPS and his absence would obviously be a big blow to fantasy owners and the Red Sox.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxMonday 5/25, 4:50 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis went 2-for-5 with two doubles while hitting out of the three-hole in Monday's 6-5 win over the Twins. David Ortiz, the usual No. 3 hitter, got the day off against left-hander Francisco Liriano.

Our View: Since coming off the DL, Youk has eight hits and eight RBI over six games. He is hitting a stellar .384/.493/.688 on the season. He would seem like the top choice to hit third in the lineup if Ortiz is ever given a new spot in the order.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxThursday 5/21, 9:25 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis went 3-for-5 Wednesday against Toronto in his first game since being activated from the 15-day DL (strained oblique), according to the Boston Globe. He said, "I just went up there and tried to get my timing down. You have just got to work on your timing. Once you get back in there, your body feels good, you should be fine."

Our View: This confirms that the elite first baseman is safe to return to fantasy lineups. He is hitting .404 over 94 at-bats.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 5/20, 11:50 AM CT
As expected, Kevin Youkilis has been activated from the 15-day DL following his recovery from a strained left oblique, according to TSN. Gil Velazquez was sent to Triple-A Pawtucket as the adjoining move.

Kevin Youkilis went 0-for-4 with Triple-A Pawtucket Tuesday during his rehab assignment, according to the Boston Globe. He has been recovering from a strained left oblique.

Our View: Youkilis was dominating prior to suffering the injury. There's no way we can expect him to hit .393 all season long, but he should continue to produce strong numbers in the heart of the Red Sox order.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 5/16, 8:17 PM CT
According to the Providence Journal, Kevin Youkilis is scheduled to play two rehab games in Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday and Tuesday.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 5/12, 6:18 PM CT
According to the Boston Globe, Kevin Youkilis is out of Tuesday's lineup due to a sore left side.

Our View: Youk has been dealing with this issue for a while now. He's not likely to head to the DL, but is just going to need sporadic days off to rest it. As Boston's best hitter this season he should be back in the lineup soon.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxMonday 5/11, 8:31 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis is still dealing with tightness in his left side, but manager Terry Francona reiterated that Youkilis is not headed for the 15-day DL, according to the Boston Globe. Francona said, "I know I keep saying day-to-day and it is dragged on a little bit, but what we are trying to do is not wait a week and have him appear in one game and take a swing and have it be a DL where it is two more weeks."

Our View: The Red Sox are off today, and Francona is hoping Youkilis will be able to take batting practice. He has missed six straight games, but may be ready to return to action Tuesday at Anaheim.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 5/9, 1:06 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Kevin Youkilis is expected to return to Boston's lineup on Tuesday, according to the Boston Globe.

Manager Terry Francona indicated that Kevin Youkilis will remain held out of the lineup today against the Rays, according to the Boston Globe.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 5/5, 5:21 PM CT
According to the Boston Herald, Kevin Youkilis is out of Tuesday's lineup due to a sore side. He is considered day-to-day.

Our View: This doesn't sound too serious, as Youk said he was fine to pinch today, but be sure to adjust your lineup for tonight accordingly. He should be back in there tomorrow.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSunday 5/3, 5:33 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis continued his torrid start to the season on Sunday with a 2-for-4 performance that included a two-run homer off of Rays reliever J.P. Howell. His bat wasn't enough though as Boston fell to the Rays 5-3.

Our View: Youk is hitting .407 on the season and has already driven in 20 runners. He seems to have replaced David Ortiz as the most dangerous hitter in Boston's lineup and fantasy owners couldn't be happier. Now, Ortiz owners have some legitimate gripes.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxThursday 4/30, 5:41 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis is back in the Red Sox lineup after receiving treatment on his back on Thursday, according to the Boston Globe. Youk missed Wednesday's game with soreness after being hit twice in the back with pitches recently.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 4/29, 2:55 PM CT
First baseman Kevin Youkilis (back) is out of the lineup on Wednesday. Jeff Bailey will start in his place, the Boston Globe confirms.

Our View: We knew this was a possibility from reports this morning, and it's not too surprising that Youk will rest tonight. The Red Sox need him to be ready for a four-game set in Tampa, following by two games against the Yankees.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 4/29, 1:06 PM CT
First baseman Kevin Youkilis is questionable to play on Wednesday against the Indians due to a sore back, the Boston Globe reports. He was plunked in the back on Tuesday. Jeff Bailey would start if Youkilis is out.

Our View: Youk is a tough guy, and he played through the pain on Tuesday night. Don't be too surprised if he sits on Wednesday, though. The Red Sox want him ready for a four-game weekend series in Tampa.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxFriday 4/24, 11:38 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis was the man on Friday, hitting a walkoff home run in the eleventh inning off Yankees' reliever Damaso Marte to win the game 5-4. Youkilis was 2-for-4 on the night with two walks to go along with his two runs scored and one RBI.

Our View: Youk came through again for the Sox, made even more special since it was the first game of the season against the Yankees. Youk has five homers on the season, and he is continuing where he left off last season.

Our View: Youkilis has picked up in 2009 right where he left off in 2008, as he is hitting a scorching .462 with four homers and 12 RBI. He is also eligible at third base and first base in most formats, making him a must own in all leagues.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 4/18, 11:26 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis had a huge day at the plate Saturday in the Red Sox 6-4 win over the Orioles. He accounted for most of the team's offense, going 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.

Our View: In addition to his dinger, Youk doubled twice and scored a pair of runs. His RBI total looked weak before today's game, but that's because there wasn't anyone on base for him most of the season. He's now hitting a ridiculous .467 on the season.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSunday 4/12, 6:34 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis continued his hot start with a 2-for-4 day that included a home run as the Red Sox fell to the Angels 5-4 on Sunday. He also drew a walk and stole a base in the loss.

Our View: Youkilis' batting average fell to .522 following today's performance. You won't find him stealing many bases, but he is always most aggressive in the nail-biters. Nine of Youk's 12 hits this season have been singles.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 4/8, 9:38 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis was 3-for-4 with an RBI in Boston's 7-2 loss to the Rays on Wednesday. All three of his hits were singles.

Our View: It may be unrealistic to expect Youkilis to repeat his production from last season, but he should still have a strong 2009 campaign hitting in the heart of Boston's loaded lineup.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxFriday 4/3, 4:14 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis will not play Friday night against the Mets because of an illness, according to the Providence Journal.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 3/24, 9:07 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis returned to Boston's lineup Monday as expected, according to the Boston Globe. He played four innings at first base and went 0-for-1 with a walk. His foot injury did not bother him, and he wanted to get one more at-bat in the game.

Our View: Youkilis looks to be safe to draft again, and should be fine by opening day.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxMonday 3/23, 8:55 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis is expected to be back in action today against Detroit and it appears that his foot injury has sufficiently healed, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Youkilis should be good to go for opening day, barring a setback. He offers fantasy owners solid production in every department but speed.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 3/21, 11:43 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis, who is recovering from tendinitis in his left Achilles, took batting practice wearing sneakers today without a plastic boot, according to the Boston Globe.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxThursday 3/19, 8:01 AM CT
Kevin Youkilis' MRI revealed tendinitis in his left Achilles, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View: Youkilis sustained no structural damage to the ankle or surrounding area, and he will sport a protective boot through the end of the week as a precaution. He is expected to be on the shelf for 5-7 days.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 3/18, 7:36 PM CT
According to the Boston Globe, Kevin Youkilis sprained his ankle and will miss the remainder of the WBC. He has returned to Red Sox camp tobe examined by team doctors.

Our View: The injury doesn't sound too serious, and Youk shouldn't miss any of the regular season, but he worth monitoring. What's surprising is that no one knows how it occurred. Perhaps the on-field celebration got a little out of hand Tuesday night.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxSunday 3/15, 9:37 AM CT
First baseman Kevin Youkilis is making a pitch for the Red Sox to sign starting pitcher Jake Peavy, according to the Boston Globe. "I know there's been a lot of trade talks with him, so I don't know what the reports are on that, but I know he'd love to pitch in Boston," Youkilis said. "If we could get him, that would be great. It's not to say we don't have enough pitching as it is, but Jake Peavy is a heck of a pitcher."

Our View: Peavy, though he has ties to Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, isn't likely to join Boston, not with a price tag of $11 million this season and as much as $17 million in 2012.

Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxThursday 4/17, 4:40 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis contacted manager Terry Francona early this morning and informed him he was ready to play, this according to the Providence Journal. The Sox' third baseman fouled a ball off his left big toe in the sixth inning on Wednesday. X-rays were negative. “He made it very clear to me that if I didn’t play him he would be a pain in the butt,” said the manager. “That’s good news because when a guy has that kind of outlook at 10 in the morning and he’s laughing about it he’s probably feeling a little better than expected.”

Our View: Youkilis and the Sox have been good offensively. The infielder's line of .368/.433/.596 is impressive to say the least. Youk has two home runs, 12 runs scored, 11 RBI and has even attempted (unsuccessfully) a stolen base.
Kevin Youkilis, 1B, Boston Red SoxThursday 4/17, 3:41 PM CT
Kevin Youkilis injured his foot on Wednesday night and x-rays on his toe were negative so he hopes to play on Thursday, this according to MLB.com. "For me, it's just trying to get healthy and do what's best with this team. It's nothing long term, so that's a good thing. Hopefully I'll be out there."

Our View: The team is already without Mike Lowell and can ill afford to also be without Youkilis. If Youkilis can't go look for Jed Lowrie to take over duties at third base.

Kevin Youkilis went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Yankees. He owns seven RBI over the last six games.

Our View: Youkilis is currently 5-for-9 with runners in scoring position this season. He obviously won't keep up that pace, and fantasy owners should get over-excited about his early production.
