Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 10/3, 9:24 PM CT
Delwyn Young provided most of the Pirates offense in an 8-4 loss to the Reds on Saturday. He went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Our View: Young has struggled mightily down the stretch, hitting just .159 in September. Saturday's three RBI were more than he accrued all of last month and the homer was his first since August 18th.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 9/14, 8:12 PM CT
Delwyn Young is out of tonight's lineup at the Dodgers while dealing with tightness in his lower back, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: He sustained the injury Sunday, and it is uncertain when Young may be fit to return to the diamond.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 8/23, 6:02 PM CT
Delwyn Young went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, and recorded the Pirates' lone RBI in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Cincinnati at PNC Park.

Our View: Young is hitting .315 with 13 RBI over 73 at-bats this month, and is worth penciling into fantasy lineups while hot.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 6/27, 10:00 PM CT
Delwyn Young was 2-for-4 with four RBI and his second home run of the season against Kansas City on Saturday.

Our View: Young has been very good in limited time since coming to Pittsburgh this season. Given how ineffective Brandon Moss has been this season, you have to believe that Young will start to get more at-bats. He's a guy to keep an eye on if he can win the right field job outright.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesThursday 6/11, 3:38 PM CT
Delwyn Young's home run in the fifth inning on Thursday was his first of the season and the only run surrendered by Braves starter Javier Vazquez in eight innings.

Our View: Light-hitting Delwyn Young has out performed another more heralded D. Young in 2009, Minnesota's former overall number one pick Delmon Young, hitting .333 in 72 at-bats with one home run and 11 RBIs.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 5/17, 4:40 PM CT
Delwyn Young started in right field and hit leadoff in place of Nyjer Morgan in Sunday's 11-4 win over Colorado. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View: Young's batting average is up to .355 and he has two hits in each of his last three starts. As long as he remains the team's fourth outfielder, his fantasy value is minimal.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 5/6, 4:41 PM CT
Delwyn Young will start for the first time in 2009 and hit fifth in the Pirates order on Wednesday. He is taking the place of Brandon Moss.

Our View: Young is 4-for-9 on the season in nine pinch-hitting appearances. He does not figure to be an everyday option and should not be considered just yet for fantasy purposes.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 4/15, 7:27 AM CT
The Dodgers dealt Delwyn Young to the Pirates in exchange for two players to be named later, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Young was once a top prospect in the Dodgers' organization, but was never able to nail down a spot in their crowded outfield. There is currently no room for him in Pittsburgh either, and he does not merit fantasy attention for now.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 4/13, 4:40 PM CT
According to MLB.com, the Dodgers have designated Delwyn Young for assignment, opening up a much needed spot on the 40-man roster.

Our View: This move was expected as the Dodgers needed a spot on the 40-man for Juan Castro. Young has been in Triple-A Albuquerque rehabbing after offseason elbow surgery.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 4/11, 10:00 AM CT
Delwyn Young will start a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque Saturday, according to the LA Times. Young is on the DL because of elbow problems.

Our View: Young will be the DH in the first game and should play the outfield shortly thereafter. It's unclear whether or not he will be called up once he's healthy.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 4/6, 8:42 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Delwyn Young has been placed on the 15-day DL with elbow soreness.

Our View: Even if healthy, there's not a lot of playing time available for Young on the Dodgers roster. He had elbow surgery in the offseason, and he will likely need more than 15 days before he is ready to return.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 12/8, 12:40 AM CT
Delwyn Young has been rumored in a deal that would send him to Pittsburgh in return for shortstop Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Young saw 126 at-bats on the Major League level last season. He hit .246 with a .321 OBP and a .341 slugging percentage.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 10/22, 9:21 AM CT
Delwyn Young is slated to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Dr. Neal ElAttrache will remove a spur in the back of the elbow and reposition the ulnar nerve. The ailment gave Young trouble throwing beginning in spring training and throughout the season.

Our View: Young will need six weeks of rehab and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training 2009. He ranked fourth in the majors this season with 14 pinch-hits.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 9/1, 8:41 PM CT
Delwyn Young was recalled from the minors on Friday as was fellow outfielder Jason Repko and pitchers Scott Proctor, James McDonald and Eric Stults, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Young and Repko figure to do nothing other than pinch hit or pinch run in what is a crowded Dodgers outfield. As for the hurlers, there is not much to see there either.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 7/25, 6:17 PM CT
Delwyn Young has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Young is a non-factor in fantasy baseball, and he was replaced on the Dodgers roster by Juan Pierre.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 6/30, 11:16 AM CT
Delwyn Young will likely get the start in left field tonight against the Astros in place of the injured Juan Pierre, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Young is hitting .289 over 76 at-bats, but would have a tough assignment against Roy Oswalt tonight, and is not worth consideration for your lineup.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 6/3, 8:48 PM CT
The Dodgers have given the start in right field tonight to Delwyn Young, sitting Andre Ethier on the bench, according to the LA Daily News.

Our View: Ethier has struggled against left-handed pitchers and thus Young gets the call. Young will bhit sixth in the batting order.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 5/21, 9:24 AM CT
Delwyn Young is serving as the Dodgers' fourth outfielder while Andruw Jones sits to decide whether to undergo surgery on his injured right knee, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Young is hitting a solid .280 over 28 games (25 at-bats). He is yet to hit a home run, but hasn't played enough to get into rhythm in that department, and is worth a look, especially if Jones ultimately opts for surgery.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 4/7, 1:07 AM CT
Delwyn Young was back on the Dodgers' bench, available to pinch-hit, according to the LA Times. This, a day after being hit above his right eye by a line drive, and being sent to a local hospital. Young felt sick and vomited, which led to a visit to a nearby hospital, where he underwent a CAT scan that was negative.
Delwyn Young, RF, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 8/13, 11:22 PM CT
The Dodgers optioned Delwyn Young to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. He hit .500 (7-for-14) in eight games for Los Angeles after being recalled when Wilson Betemit was traded to the Yankees.

Our View: Young's days as a legit prospect are pretty much over.
