Brayan Pena, C, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/30, 9:54 PM CT
Brayan Pena carried the Royals in tonight's 4-3 win at the Yankees, as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Pena was in need of a solid performance, as he was only hitting .194 over 36 at-bats this month heading into tonight's game. He recorded two RBI in a game for the first time since August 27 (at Seattle).

Brayan Pena, C, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 8/1, 2:52 PM CT
Brayan Pena will get the call behind the plate again on Saturday. He has started six of the last 10 games even though Miguel Olivo and John Buck are both healthy.

Our View: The Royals are apparently ready to see if Pena, 27, can be their every-day option. He has been a backup since breaking into the majors in 2005. Pena doesn't offer up much upside on offense, although his track record suggests he will hit for average.

Brayan Pena has had his contract purchased by the Royals and he will take the roster spot of John Buck, who was placed on the DL after leaving Saturday's game with a back injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Pena has never done much at the major league level, so he has no fantasy value as a backup catcher for the Royals. He should not be considered in any format at this point.

Brayan Pena, C, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 4/4, 1:11 PM CT
Brayan Pena is believed to be the favorite to win the final non-pitching roster spot with the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star. The other candidates for the spot are Mitch Maier and Shane Costa.

Our View: The 27-year-old Pena holds a .228 average over 127 career at-bats in the majors, and would not merit fantasy attention as a backup catcher if he makes the Royals.

It's one of those things where he'd probably be out three to five days or something like that."
