Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 10/8, 5:35 PM CT
Aaron Cook went from solid to shaky in his NLDS start on Thursday. The sinker-baller pitched five scoreless innings before getting touched for three runs in the sixth. The performance was still good enough to earn the win, however, as Colorado won 5-4 in Philadelphia.

Our View: Five scoreless innings is about as much as most pitchers can hope for against Philadelphia's fearsome lineup, and all-in-all, Cook turned in a good outing for the Rockies.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 10/1, 5:14 PM CT
In just his second start since August 25, Aaron Cook was dominant on Thursday afternoon. The sinker-balling righty allowed only one run in eight innings of work, throwing just 85 pitches, as Colorado beat the Brewers 9-2 to clinch a playoff berth. They now head into a three-game series with the Dodgers that will decide the National League western division crown. L.A. has a two-game lead.

Our View: Thursday was a shot across the bow from Cook and the Rockies - he's ready to go for the playoffs. He will be a very tough opponent in October, especially at Coors Field.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 9/25, 9:58 PM CT
Aaron Cook only allowed four hits over five scoreless innings in Friday's 2-1 win over the Cardinals at Coors Field. He had no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Cook was in control tonight, but had to settle for a no-decision as the Cardinals tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the seventh. He was 0-3 over his previous three starts.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 9/22, 5:48 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, Aaron Cook will get the start on Friday against the Cardinals.

Our View: Cook has been rehabbing a shoulder strain for the last month, but fared well in a 50-pitch simulated game on Saturday and the Rockies think he's ready. He'll be on a limited pitch count (around 70), so he likely won't be able to go deep into the game, but the Rox have to be happy he's trotting back out to the hill. Before the injury he was 10-6 with a 4.47 ERA.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 9/19, 8:16 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, Aaron Cook threw a 50-pitch simulated game on Saturday and felt no pain in his strained shoulder.

Our View: Cook has been on the DL since August 21st, but says that he's feeling great right now. He is slated to start on Thursday against the Padres and likely will barring any setbacks.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 9/15, 10:29 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Aaron Cook threw a simulated game on Tuesday and felt no pain in his ailing shoulder.

Our View: The Rockies weren't counting on him returning to the rotation this season, but he's on target to be back by the middle of next week. He was rusty in Tuesday's outing, but the important thing is the shoulder felt fine. He will throw another session on Saturday and will be reevaluated after.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/14, 11:30 AM CT
According to the Denver Post, Rockies' starting pitcher Aaron Cook is still hopeful he will be able to pitch for the team this season. Cook threw a 25-pitch side session on Sunday, but the team isn;t planning on him being available again this year.

Our View: Cook has been out since August 22 with a right shoulder strain, and time is running out for him to make a return to the team. Even if he were able to come back in the last week or so of the season, it seems unlikely the team would add him to the playoff roster. Unless his recovery miraculously speeds up in the next few weeks, it looks like Cook is done for 2009.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 9/9, 5:34 PM CT
Aaron Cook (shoulder strain) played catch on Wednesday, and will throw off the mound before the team's game against the Reds, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Rockies ace is inching toward a return, but doesn't have to rush, as Colorado maintains a three-game lead in the wild care race. If that changes, however, expect his pace of recovery to follow suit.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 9/4, 8:24 PM CT
Aaron Cook is throwing from 100 feet and is still hopeful that he will be able to return before the regular season ends, according to MLBlogs.com. Cook has been on the DL since August 21 with a shoulder injury.

Our View: The Rockies could use Cook down the stretch if he is able to return, and if not he should be ready to go in the playoffs if his team can get in without him. We will have to see how he progresses over the next few weeks, but throwing long toss is a good start.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 9/3, 3:05 PM CT
Aaron Cook (shoulder) might not rejoin the Rockies rotation before the end of the regular season, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View: Cook apparently still has a "a distance to go" before he could throw a bullpen session, though the team is still saying he could be back before the playoffs start. He has been out since August 21.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 9/1, 6:29 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, Aaron Cook threw from 60 feet on Tuesday and reported no pain.

Our View: The right-hander is making steady progress in his rehab from an ailing shoulder and looks to be on track to rejoin the Rockies rotation before the end of the season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 8/24, 8:32 PM CT
Aaron Cook's MRI on his ailing shoulder came back negative with no structural damage, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: There now seems to be a chance of Cook returning to the Rockies this season. He will start playing catch next week after the team returns from San Francisco.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/22, 4:48 PM CT
Aaron Cook has been placed on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury, according to th team's Twitter page. Cook is scheduled to have an MRI on his shoulder on Monday.

Our View: Cook has been getting bombed in the month of August, and it looks like his shoulder may be giving him some problems. We will know more after the MRI on Monday, but it's not looking good for Cook owners at this point.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/22, 12:04 AM CT
Aaron Cook got blasted again Friday. He lasted just four innings after giving up four runs on three hits and a pair of walks in a 6-3 loss to the Giants.

Our View: Cook was having a fine season until August. He has failed to go more than five innings in any start and has allowed 14 total runs already this month. The Rockies are hoping he pulls out of the skid soon.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/18, 6:54 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that Aaron Cook will throw two bullpen sessions in between his Friday start.

Our View: Cook was destroyed in his last start and wants extra practice so he doesn't become a repeat offender. He also plans to study tape of his last outing with pitching coach Bob Apodaca and Jason Marquis. He claims that his sprained big toe is no longer an issue.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/16, 4:55 PM CT
Aaron Cook was bludgeoned by the Marlins on Sunday. He was chased from the mound after just 2.1 innings and a whopping seven earned runs. Needless to say, he was tagged with the loss.

Our View: Cook was forced to miss his last start with a sprained toe, and we're guessing he wishes he would have missed this one as well. His fantasy owners certainly feel that way, as this was his worst start of the season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 8/10, 7:12 PM CT
Aaron Cook, who is recovering from a sprained right big toe, is on pace to start Saturday's game at the Marlins, according to InsideTheRockies.com. He was able to throw off flat ground from 120 feet today.

Our View: He was initially scheduled to pitch Tuesday against Pittsburgh, but was pushed back to prevent him from aggravating his injury. This is good news, but he will still be a risky fantasy option.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/9, 1:40 PM CT
Aaron Cook has been scratched from his scheduled Tuesday start against the Pirtaes with turf toe, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The team originally thought he'd be able to go Tuesday, but apparently not. He's still tentatively scheduled to go next Saturday, but turf toe often lingers, so stay tuned. Either Josh Fogg or Jhoulys Chacin will make the start.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/8, 9:18 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, Rockies' starter Aaron Cook has been diagnosed with a sprained right toe.

Our View: The big toe injury can be painful, but the Rox don't consider the injury to be serious. Cook is still on schedule to make his next start. He will visit the doctor on Monday and unless he finds additional problems Cook should be good to go.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/6, 3:28 PM CT
Aaron Cook didn't last long on Thursday afternoon. He was yanked after five innings due to surrendering three runs on seven hits. He did not allow a walk or record a strikeout in the Rockies' 3-1 loss to the Phillies.

Our View: Cook is now 10-4 after taking the loss with a respectable 3.93 ERA. The loss was his first since June 1st, but his ERA jumped after a 4.17 mark in July.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 7/31, 9:25 PM CT
Aaron Cook gave up three earned runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings in Friday's 5-3 win at Cincinnati. He had two walks and four strikeouts, and surrendered two homers.

Our View: The game was tied 3-3 when Cook exited, so he ends the night with a no-decision rather than a win. He has 10 wins for the season, and has not taken a loss over his last 11 starts.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 7/26, 6:03 PM CT
Aaron Cook pitched seven sharp innings to earn his tenth win on Sunday, allowing just two runs as the Rockies beat San Francisco 4-2.

Our View: Cook has a mediocre 1.41 WHIP, but usually neutralizes the runners he lets on base. He's quietly morphed into one of the National League's better starters the past two seasons.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 7/21, 11:08 PM CT
Aaron Cook was mediocre on Tuesday night, allowing four earned runs in six innings of a 6-5 Rockies loss to Arizona.

Our View: After going 5-1 in June, Cook has just win in July. He's nothing if not resilient, though, so look for him to start another hot streak soon.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 7/17, 12:37 AM CT
Aaron Cook easily picked up his ninth win on Thursday, allowing just one run in six innings as the Rockies pounded the Padres 10-1 in San Diego.

Our View: Cook doesn't have gaudy numbers, but is a reliable innings eater who has been picking up a lot of wins the last two seasons. He is a great "glue guy" for any fantasy rotation.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/13, 6:28 PM CT
The Rockies have set their rotation for the second half of the season following the All-Star break, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Aaron Cook will start Thursday in San Diego, followed by Ubaldo Jimenez, Jason Hammel, Jason Marquis and Jorge De La Rosa.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 7/9, 10:59 PM CT
Aaron Cook was tagged for five earned runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings in Thursday's 7-6 win over Atlanta at Coors Field. He issued three walks with three strikeouts.

Our View: Cook had a rough outing, and should be happy he was handed a no-decision rather than a loss. He is winless over two starts this month after going 5-1 with a 2.36 ERA in June. Hopefully he will get back on track soon.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/4, 11:20 PM CT
Aaron Cook was tagged for two earned runs in an injury-shortened five inning outing on Saturday, and took a no-decision as the Rockies lost 9-6 to Arizona.

Our View: Cook apparently just got the wind knocked out of him, and should be fine for his next start.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/4, 9:54 PM CT
The Denver Post's Dave Krieger is reporting that Rockies ace Aaron Cook left the game on Saturday after having "the wind knocked out of him" on a dive.

Our View: This is good news for the Rockies, as it was initially thought Cook had injured his back. He should be good to go for his next scheduled start.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/28, 7:25 PM CT
Aaron Cook was outstanding again on Sunday in the Rockies' 3-1 win over the A's. Cook went eight innings and allowed one run on nine hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: After a rough start to the season, Cook has emerged as a very reliable option over the last several starts. The Rockies are rolling, and while they stay hot Cook seems like a solid start in all leagues. Beware of him reverting back to his early season form, but right now he is a solid play.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/23, 12:11 AM CT
Aaron Cook was dominant in Monday's 11-1 win at the Angels, as he only allowed one earned run on three hits over seven innings. He had two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Cook earned his seventh win of the season, and lowered his ERA to an even 4.00. He has won four straight starts, and allowed one earned run three times over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups for his next trip to the hill.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 6/11, 5:03 PM CT
Aaron Cook was impressive for the second straight start on Thursday, giving up only one earned run in six innings while striking out seven. He earned his fifth victory of the year, as the Rockies won 5-4 for their eighth straight win.

Our View: After a shaky start to the season, Cook has gone six innings five straight starts, giving up only ten earned runs in that span to lower his ERA from 5.71 to 4.26.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 6/6, 10:44 PM CT
Aaron Cook put together a very impressive start on Saturday in his win against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cook went eight innings and allowed one run on four hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Cook has been a disappointment this season after a solid 2008 campaign, but he looked very solid tonight. The suddenly inept Cards' offense may have had a little to do with it, but overall Cook was still very good tonight. His ERA is at 4.50, and he is an NL-only option but still a very average pitcher.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 6/1, 10:49 PM CT
Aaron Cook struggled in Monday's 4-1 loss at Houston as he allowed four earned runs on nine hits over six innings, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: He was handed a loss in each of his last two starts after throwing a complete game shutout at Atlanta on May 21. He shall remain an unstable fantasy hurler.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 5/26, 11:31 PM CT
Aaron Cook was lit up by the Dodgers on Tuesday. He allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over six innings. he fell to 3-2 on the season as the Rockies got pummeled 7-1.

Our View: Cook tossed a shutout in his last start, but looked considerably worse in this one. He's been trading off between being dominant and pitching batting practice in his last four starts. Hopefully you play him on the good days. According to the formula, the next one should be good. But don't hold us to it.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/21, 9:10 PM CT
Aaron Cook went the distance on Thursday. The Rockies' ace tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout in a 9-0 win over the Braves. He allowed one walk and struck out three, while improving to 3-1 on the season.

Our View: Cook appeared to be putting it together with four quality starts in a row, until the wheels came off on May 16th. Today's outing was a very nice bounce back effort and make his previous start look like the aberration.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 5/10, 6:07 PM CT
Aaron Cook looked sharp for the second straight time as he picked up his second win of the season in 3-2 win over the Marlins. He surrendered two runs, one earned, on four hits and four walks, while striking out three.

Our View: Cook has given up just two earned runs in his last 14 innings and he is resembling the pitcher that was elected to the all-star game last summer. He is never going to be a big strikeout guy, which limits his fantasy value. However, if he can keep the ball in the yard, he should be able to pick up some wins.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 5/5, 11:59 PM CT
Aaron Cook threw eight strong innings on Tuesday, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks, but did not factor in the decision. The Rockies lost 2-1 in ten innings on a Brian Giles walk-off double.

Our View: Cook has struggled this season, but Tuesday's outing was a positive showing. We dare not read too much into it though as it was against the Padres and played in Petco Park. That scenario would boost any pitcher's stats.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/25, 12:09 AM CT
Aaron Cook struggled with his control on Friday but did not factor into the decision as the Rockies lost to the Dodgers 6-5. Cook went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while walking six and striking out four.

Our View: Cook only let up three runs tonight, but he was not sharp. The six walks in six innings is far too high, and he has been far from the pitcher he was last year. His fantasy value is decreasing with every start, so if he is on your team you may want to find another option.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/18, 7:55 PM CT
Aaron Cook was victimized by three Dodger home runs and took the loss in Saturday's 9-5 defeat. He allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks over just four innings.

Our View: Cook has now allowed five home runs in three starts this season and is quickly getting away from what made him successful in Coors field in 2008. Namely, keeping the ball in the park. His ERA jumped to 10.22 on the season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 4/6, 5:47 PM CT
Aaron Cook lasted just 2.1 innings in Monday's 9-8 loss to the Diamondbacks. He surrendered seven hits, six earned runs, and a walk while striking out two batters.

Our View: This was certainly not the outing the Rockies were hoping for from their "ace". Cook was good for a 16-9 record a season ago while allowing only 13 home runs in 211.1 innings of work. He gave up two longballs on Monday, and it's probably safe to say that last year's low number of home runs was a fluke for the Rockies' starter.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 3/27, 7:00 PM CT
Aaron Cook put a lot of runners on base Friday, but managed to work out of jams and limited the damage. He allowed three runs over 5.2 innings, but surrendered ten hits and a walk. He managed to hang on for the victory.

Our View: Cook is expected to be the ace of a rag-tag staff in Denver. He should contribute in ERA and wins, but his K-rate leaves more than a little to be desired. He struck out just over hitters per nine innings last year.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 3/23, 12:05 AM CT
Aaron Cook remained sharp on Sunday as the Rockies beat the Indians 4-1. Over five innings of work, he scattered five hits and a walk, while striking out two and allowing just one run.

Our View: Cook will be the Rockies opening day starter and they are hoping that he is saving something for the regular season. This spring, he has allowed just four earned runs in 19 innings while striking out 17 batters. He gets by in Coors Field mostly because of a sinker that induces a ton of groundballs. Don't expect many strikeouts or much of a WHIP, but he should maintain a decent ERA and get you double digit wins.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 3/11, 6:02 PM CT
Aaron Cook threw five innings of shutout ball as the Rockies defeated Cleveland 5-0 on Wednesday. He struck out seven, allowed three hits, and walked none.

Our View: Cook has now struck out 15 hitters in 14 innings this spring while boasting a 1.93 ERA. He had a weak 4.09 K/9 rate last season, but this spring he has certainly showed more promise in that department. He is the Rockies ace and should have another solid season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 3/7, 10:12 AM CT
Aaron Cook has been named the Rockies' opening day starter, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Cook was the team's best starter last season so this decision is no surprise. He has not had a very good start to his spring and his weak 4.09 K/9 rate limits him severely in fantasy games.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 3/2, 12:04 AM CT
Aaron Cook got blasted on Sunday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk. Only two of the runs were earned, but this certainly isn't what the Rockies had in mind.

Our View: Cook won 16 games last year and with Jeff Francis expected to miss some time, he'll be expected to ancor the Colorado rotation.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 2/22, 11:08 PM CT
Aaron Cook will get the initial start of the Rockies' spring training schedule, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Cook is the ace of Colorado's staff, having won 16 games a year ago. He doesn't strike a lot of batters out, which hurts fantasy-wise, but he's still a solid contributor.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 9/23, 8:50 PM CT
Rockies pitcher Aaron Cook will not make another start this season, as he has decided to end his year with complete health, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Cook had a solid year for fantasy owners, picking up 16 wins with a 3.96 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. His lack of strikeouts prevent him from being an elite hurler for fantasy purposes, as he struck out just 96 batters in 211.1 innings.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 9/20, 11:30 PM CT
Aaron Cook allowed two earned runs on five hits over 6.1 innings in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Arizona, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Cook was dealt a no decision, and is winless over his last four starts. Cook doesn't register many strikeouts (has 96 over 32 starts), and should only be considered for NL-only leagues heading into the final week of the season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 9/14, 5:44 PM CT
Aaron Cook worked eight shutout innings on Sunday allowing just eight base runners against the Dodgers. Unfortunately he didn't pick up the win as the game was scoreless into extra innings.

Our View: After this outing, his 31st start, Cook owns a solid 4.00 ERA though he has still failed to reach the 100-K mark (he has 92). The 16 victories help to offset that terribly low strikeout total.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/30, 12:25 AM CT
Aaron Cook gave up two earned runs on five hits over six innings in Friday's 9-4 win over the Padres, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: His strikeouts are low (87 over 188 innings) and his ERA (3.88) could be better as a fantasy starter, but he should remain a solid source for wins (16) heading down the stretch in September.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/29, 11:05 AM CT
It has been a little bit of a struggle for Aaron Cook since the All-Star break and according to the Rocky Mountain News some scouts have said that Cook has lost the sink on his sinker. Since the break Cook has an ERA of 4.98.

Our View: Cook's ERA and WHIP are a little high for an elite starter but he does have 15 wins on the year and 84 strikeouts in 182-innings.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/17, 5:12 PM CT
Colorado ace Aaron Cook got a little bit of his groove back today as recent struggles have put him in a bad way, pitching five innings to allow two runs (both earned) on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts as the Rockies pulled the 7-2 win over Washington.

Our View: Cook was riding consecutive losses coming in, giving up 11 earned runs over those starts. He has not gotten past the sixth inning in each of his last three starts and it appears fatigue may be settling in.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/15, 8:26 PM CT
Aaron Cook will start Sunday's series finale with the Nationals, according to MLB.com. He was scratched from Thursday's outing because of fatigue and tightness in the small of his back.

Our View: Cook has been fighting it the last three times out. Hopefully the extra rest will allow his to get back on track.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/14, 2:10 PM CT
Aaron Cook, who is recovering from a sore back, threw a side session Thursday and indicated that he hopes to start as soon as Sunday against Washington, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Team officials expect to make a decision today. Given that he threw all his pitches pain free, the latest Cook would likely pitch is Tuesday in Los Angeles. Cook could be solid down the stretch as a fantasy hurler if he is fully healthy.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/12, 6:34 PM CT
Aaron Cook had certainly not been pitching like the All-Star he was, and the cause of that may be a stiff back that will sideline him for his next start, according to the Denver Post. The team hopes this move will mean he will not have to go on the DL.

Our View: Cook has lost his last two games, and his effectiveness has been waning, which left many to believe he had some sort of malady. Cook's ERA has risen to 3.87, though he has been an asset in fantasy leagues and will continue to be so when fully healthy.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/9, 11:22 PM CT
He started as the ace of the staff but is falling like a brick in the second half as the Rockies fall out of the NL West race. Likewise, starter Aaron Cook has fallen 8-3 to the Padres this evening, pitching just 5 2/3 innings to allow six runs (all earned) on 10 hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Cook falls to 14-8, suffering consecutive losses for the first time since June. Thus far this month, he has surrendered 11 total earned runs.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 8/4, 11:20 PM CT
Aaron Cook lost his seventh game of the season by allowing the Washington Nationals to score seven runs, four of them earned, on 11 hits in 5.2 innings.

Our View: Cook is still a top option in all fantasy leagues, and his 14 wins remain second in the NL.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/30, 9:26 PM CT
Aaron Cook won his 14th game on Friday night as held the Pirates to four runs over seven innings. Cook wasn't dazzling but he won his third straight start.

Our View: Cook has never won more than nine games before this season. His ERA (3.53) and WHIP (1.25) are spectacular for a pitcher who calls Coors Field home, even is he is deficient in strikeouts (4.15 K/9).
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 7/25, 10:38 PM CT
Aaron Cook won his 13th game of the season, holding the Reds to one run on five hits over eight innings.

Our View: Cook has been fantastic this season, especially considering he has done a lot of his work at Coors Field.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 7/20, 7:50 PM CT
The offense was the name of the game for Colorado, getting the 11-3 win over the Pirates, but give ace Aaron Cook full credit, going seven innings to allow three runs over five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Cook is 12-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.58, though today represents just his second win over his last six starts.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 7/11, 9:36 PM CT
Aaron Cook rebounded from his roughest outing of the season by giving up just one run in six innings on Friday in New York. He did not factor in the decision.

Our View: Nothing spectacular from Cook, except that he knows how to pitch himself out of jams.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 7/6, 6:22 PM CT
Aaron Cook was roughed up the same day he was announced as an NL All-Star. In 7.1 innings against the Marlins he gave up seven earned runs, 11 hits and two walks.

Our View: Cook was certianly not an All-Star on Sunday. He had been 6-0 in day games up to this point. No one expected this type of season from Cook and its not out of the question to doubt his second half success.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 7/6, 2:45 PM CT
The NL pitching staff for the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium has been announced, according to the Boston Globe. The hurlers representing the NL will be Tim Lincecum (Giants), Aaron Cook (Colorado), Dan Haren (Diamondbacks), Ben Sheets (Brewers), Carlos Zambrano (Cubs), Brandon Webb (Diamondbacks), Ryan Dempster (Cubs), Brian Wilson (Giants), Edinson Volquez (Reds), Kerry Wood (Cubs), Brad Lidge (Phillies), and Billy Wagner (Mets).

Our View: The team will be managed by Clint Hurdle of the Rockies.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 7/1, 11:23 PM CT
The Padres couldn't get any sign of offense going tonight against the Rockies, giving Colorado the 4-0 victory built on the arm of rising RHP Aaron Cook . Cook pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Cook picks up his first win after consecutive losses to end June. This is his second complete game this season and he has failed to reach at least the end of the seventh inning just six times through 18 starts this season.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/25, 10:49 PM CT
Aaron Cook fell to 10-5 on Wednesday though he didn't pitch horribly in allowing eight hits and four runs (three earned) over 5.1 innings.

Our View: Cook has been a solid hurler this season with the wins, but his K total (54) is low. Though his ERA is a solid 3.64, his WHIP is barely better than average at 1.32, so don't be seduced solely by the win total.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 6/20, 12:56 PM CT
Aaron Cook will be shooting for his 11th win of 2008 when the Rockies host the Mets tonight, according to MLB.com. Cook is 10-3 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 15 starts.

Our View: Cook is the third hurler in Rockies' history to reach 10 wins before the All-Star break, and needs one more to tie Shawn Chacon for the club record, set back in 2003. Cook threw a complete game with only one run allowed in his last meeting against the Mets (at Coors) on May 25.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/15, 6:42 PM CT
Aaron Cook gave up three earned runs on 10 hits over six innings in Sunday's 5-3 win over the White Sox in Chicago, with two walks and three strikeouts. Most of the damage came on a two-run homer by Jermaine Dye.

Our View: Cook is 10-3 for the season, with a 3.29 ERA. It wasn't a great outing, but was good enough to get the job done.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/10, 11:12 PM CT
Working to become the reliable arm this team needs, Rockies RHP Aaron Cook picked up an impressive ninth win this evening as Colorado put the 10-5 victory on San Francisco. Cook went seven innings to allow four runs (three earned) on nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Cook now touts an ERA of 3.21 and a record of 9-3 on the season, posting three wins (with one no-decision) over his last four starts.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/4, 5:23 PM CT
Aaron Cook worked eight strong innings and the Rockies defeated the Dodgers 2-1 on Wednesday. Cook allowed a run and six hits, struck out six and walked one.

Our View: It took a slow roller, a sacrifice and a misplayed ground ball for the Dodgers to score their only run. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.16. Cook is the only Rockies pitcher to throw a complete game this season and he came close today.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 5/25, 7:04 PM CT
The Rockies enjoyed a 4-1 win against the Mets today, an effort built largely on the work of RHP Aaron Cook . Cook pitched the complete game, allowing just one run on a lowly four hits with one walk and three strikeout.

Our View: This brings Cook to 7-3 on the season, slowly but surely becoming the ace of the Colorado staff.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesFriday 5/16, 12:01 AM CT
Aaron Cook was able to limit the damage to five runs in five innings despite allowing 10 hits and four walks to the D’backs in his second loss of the season.

Our View: Cook leaves this game with a 2.82 ERA but we have a bridge to sell you if you think that number won’t be close to four than three by seasons end. He now has 29 K and 21 BB on the year, another sign that his luck is bound to change, for the worse, moving forward.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 5/10, 1:26 AM CT
Colorado's Aaron Cook won his sixth straight start, combining with two relievers on a four-hitter. The ground ball specialist allowed one run on three-hits, walked four and struck out one in seven innings of work.

Our View: Cook is pitching with confidence and his 14-4 GB:FB ration makes him a solid option even when pitching at Coors Field.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 5/4, 5:12 PM CT
Aaron Cook improved to 5-1 thanks to a solid performance against the Dodgers on Sunday. He held the boys in blue to nine hits and two runs over 7.2 innings. Cook walked none and struck out two. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four straight starts.

Our View: Cook is a roll. He doesn't strike many batters out, but he is a solid ERA guy when his sinker is working. Cook has never won 10 games in a season, but it looks like that's going to change.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 4/24, 7:09 PM CT
Aaron Cook was wonderful on Thursday as he held the Cubs to two runs over eight innings to pick up his third victory. Cook had five K on the day while he allowed four hits and three BB.

Our View: Through five stars Cook has and ERA of 2.91 with a WHIP of 1.03, though we are doubtful that he will be able to maintain that level for much longer given that he has a poor K/BB ratio (1.55) and that his track record is one that is full of injury. Still, he will continue to be a solid starter in NL Only leagues as long as he is healthy, albeit one with no strikeouts.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/19, 9:07 PM CT
Aaron Cook pitched seven strong innings on Saturday night as he held the Astros to two runs, one earned, in his second victory.

Our View: Cook now owns a very un-Colorado like 3.12 ERA through four starts, but sooner or later the batters will catch up since he just doesn't possess dominating stuff.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 4/13, 7:54 PM CT
Aaron Cook picked up his first win of the season on Sunday, a bit of redemption following his previous outing. Cook allowed eight hits and three runs over six innings against the Diamondbacks, and the offense had his back, putting up 13. In his prior start, Cook held the Braves to two hits and one run but left with a no-decision.

Our View: It's nice when things sometimes even out. Cook is far from being a fantasy stud, but he has good enough stuff to post a 4.20 ERA and potentially win 13-16 games.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesMonday 4/7, 10:43 PM CT
Aaron Cook was magnificent on Monday night as he allowed just one run and three base runners in seven innings against the Braves. Cook now sports a 3.46 ERA over his first 13 innings and he should be able to maintain solid value in NL Only leagues this season if he can stay healthy.

Aaron Cook was held out of Friday's game as a precaution due to inflammation in his shoulder. "I hope that I just miss that one turn and step right back into the rotation (either Tuesday or Wednesday)," Cook said, according to the Denver Post. "I haven't missed any throwing, so I don't feel like I am behind at all." It appears he has just a minor ailment that shouldn't affect his status for the start of the season, barring any setbacks.

Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 2/21, 8:55 PM CT
Aaron Cook signed a 4-year, $34.5 million contract to pitch for the Rockies, and after being injured last last season he spent the off-season rededicating himself to conditioning according to MLB.com. "We're looking for not a fragmented season like we've seen in the past, but a full season, an opportunity to get to 200 innings or somewhere around that mark, and stay healthy," manager Clint Hurdle said. "He's looking for the same." Cook hurled 166 innings last season, a year after throwing 212.2 innings, and this will be the season he hopes to record his first double-digit victory total of his career. Man, $34.5 million just doesn't goes as far as it used to does it? Cook remains nothing more than a bottom tier NL Only option due in part to a sinker that just doesn't allow him to punchout batters, as his career-high in strikeouts is only 92.

Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 10/31, 6:06 PM CT

Aaron Cook is hoping he'll be added to the World Series roster. Cook hasn't pitched in a game since August 10 due to an oblique injury, but manager Clint Hurdle has acknowledged Cook is now completely healthy, according to the Denver Post. However, Cook seemed healthy before the NLCS, as well, and the team opted not to include him on the roster, so it would be a bit of a surprise if they decided to rely on him in the World Series.
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 10/11, 11:30 AM CT
Aaron Cook, out since August 10 with an oblique injury, won't be added to the Rockies' NLCS roster after all. He allowed just one run in seven innings in an instructional game Wednesday, but manager Clint Hurdle felt Cook still wasn't quite ready. "That's the hardest decision that I've had to talk through with a player since I've been in uniform - because of who he is and what he has become," Hurdle said in the Denver Post. "He's been here since Day 1 and he's the guy we gave the ball to on opening day. If this was the regular season, he would be making another rehab start. We felt we would be forcing it."
Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesWednesday 10/10, 11:35 AM CT

Aaron Cook, P, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/16, 11:34 AM CT
The Rockies have placed Aaron Cook on the DL due to a strained oblique muscle. Cook suffered the oblique strain during his last start. "Once I took him out, he was good with it, and a couple days later he was real good with hit," manager Clint Hurdle said on MLB.com. "Then we tried to see where we could go from there. He hasn't been able to get in the work he needed to get in or even feel he would be ready to take the ball again -- on time or even with a short delay." Elmer Dessens will be recalled from Triple-A to start in place of Cook Thursday.
