Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 3/16, 5:27 PM CT
Carlos Silva tossed four scoreless innings against the Rangers on Tuesday and earned his second win of the spring.

Our View: Silva allowed just two hits and struck out three in his four frames and put together his second straight solid start of the spring. He was blasted in his first start, but has rebounded nicely since. Still, don't expect him to bounce back enough overall in 2010 to be a worthwhile fantasy asset.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 3/11, 6:08 PM CT
Carlos Silva was sharp in his second spring start on Thursday, tossing three scoreless innings in an 8-7 win over the Padres.

Our View: Silva was blasted in his first spring start, but fared much better on Thursday. He allowed four hits and a walk over three frames, but it will take much more than this for potential owners to forget about his last four miserable seasons. Leave him alone of draft day.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 3/6, 7:26 PM CT
Carlos Silva was lit up for six earned runs on seven hits over a mere two innings of work in Saturday's preseason loss to the White Sox. He had no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Silva held a dismal 8.60 ERA over 30.1 innings with the Mariners in 2009, and that was while pitching his home games at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field. He is not a good fantasy pick with his new club, especially since he will now he pitching at launching pad Wrigley Field.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 12/18, 1:23 PM CT
The Cubs will receive an additional $9 million from Seattle in the deal that will bring them Carlos Silva in exchange for Milton Bradley, according to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan.

Our View: Silva's contract calls for $24 million over the next two years, while Bradley's is worth $21 million for the same time frame, so the Cubs save $6 million in the deal. Still, it's unknown what they plan to do with Silva, who's anything but a reliable starting pitcher.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 12/18, 12:17 PM CT
The Mariners appear very close to finalizing a deal that would send Carlos Silva to the Cubs in exchange for Milton Bradley, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: The Cubs had been looking all over the place to try and unload Bradley, though they won't be getting much in return if this deal goes through. Silva has been either hurt or incredibly ineffective in the two years since he signed his ridiculously inflated deal with the Mariners.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 9/13, 11:28 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Mariners' pitcher Carlos Silva is expected to return to the team Tuesday. Silva will be activated off the 60-day DL and will work out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season.

Our View: Silva had a successful rehab stint in the minors, and he feels better than he has all season. The M's won't push him too much, but he should get some innings out of the bullpen as the year goes on.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 8/30, 10:40 AM CT
Carlos Silva threw a successful bullpen session on Saturday, according to MLB.com. Silva is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday for Triple-A Tacoma.

Our View: Silva said he is feeling the best he has since his injury, and he should be good to go Tuesday. He is scheduled to make two or three appearances of an inning or two apiece.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 8/28, 10:44 AM CT
Carlos Silva is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday, according to MLB.com. If everything goes well, Silva will be sent to Triple-A Tacoma to begin a rehab assignment.

Our View: Silva is still on track, and barring a setback during his bullpen session he should join the minor league club soon after. The team would like to be able to activate him late next week, and he will be used out of the bullpen when he returns to Seattle.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 8/27, 8:04 AM CT
According to the Everett Herald, Carlos Silva faced live hitters in a simulated game on Wednesday and reported no issues with his ailing shoulder.

Our View: This is a positive step forward for Silva, as he faced five hitters and tossed 40 pitches, pain free. He will have one more simulated outing before heading to a rehab assignment.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 8/24, 9:33 PM CT
Carlos Silva, who is recovering from a right shoulder impingement, is set to throw a simulated game on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times. He will throw 35-40 pitches.

Our View: Silva could advance to a minor league rehab assignment if he fares fine without any issues. He is aiming to return to Seattle at some point in mid-September.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 8/17, 10:51 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Mariners' pitcher Carlos Silva will throw one or two more bullpen sessions before pitching in a simulated game. Silva is attempting to return from a right shoulder injury.

Our View: If Silva feels good after another bullpen session, he could be in line to throw the simulated game sooner than expected. He still hopes to return sometime in September, but don't expect him to contribute much even if he does make it back.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 8/16, 8:21 AM CT
According to the Everette Herald, Mariners' pitcher Carlos Silva threw 35 pitches in a bullpen session on Saturday. Silva plans to increase his number to 45 in another session in a few days.

Our View: Silva is making a slow return, but the M's will take anything they can get from him at this point. It's hard to say exactly when he will be ready to go, but look for him to be activated in a few weeks.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 8/10, 10:59 AM CT
Carlos Silva is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. Silva is on the DL with a right shoulder injury.

Our View: It's good that Silva is throwing a bullpen session, but he seems like a long shot to do any contributing for the M's this season. Even if he does return at some point, his 8.48 ERA will make the team think twice about putting him in there.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 7/16, 9:33 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Carlos Silva is pain-free and that he could start to throw by the end of the month. Manager Don Wakamatsu told the media that Silva is "getting better and probably at least start to play catch at the end of the month. The rest will be determined by how he progresses from that point."

Our View: It doesn't sound like the M's will get much out of Silva the rest of this season if he won't even start throwing until the end of the month. If he does return at some point this year, he doesn't figure to have any fantasy value, as he is currently sporting an 8.48 ERA after his six starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 6/18, 9:23 PM CT
Carlos Silva has been transferred from the 15 to the 60-day DL, according to TSN.

Our View: Silva holds a poor 8.48 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over six starts, and is only worth stashing in deeper AL-only leagues for his return in the second half of the season.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 5/19, 11:27 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that the MRI on the shoulder of Carlos Silva revealed an internal impingement and fraying of the labrum and rotator cuff.

Our View: Silva is going for a second opinion, but this is bad news for the Mariners. He is in the second year of a four year deal, but his season could be over if this injury is as bad as it looks.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 5/9, 4:31 PM CT
According to MLB.com, The Mariners placed struggling starter Carlos Silva on the 15-day DL Saturday. He has been battling shoulder problems since leaving his April 25th start with discomfort.

Our View: This may be a good thing for the Mariners. Silva was 1-3 with an 8.48 ERA in six starts and will benefit the team more by not taking the mound every five days. He is eligible to return on May 22nd.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/6, 11:07 PM CT
Carlos Silva was beat around the yard for six runs in three innings as his ERA rose to 8.48 through his six starts.

Our View: Can it get any worse for Silva? People talk about the Barry Zito contract all the time, but the Mariners are paying this overweight hurler $12 million a year for this garbage. Pay him no mind unless your goal is to give your leaguemates a victory.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/14, 9:03 PM CT
Carlos Silva had a very solid outing on Tuesday as he held the Angels to just two runs over seven innings. He allowed four hits and a walk and struck out four, but did not earn a decision as the Mariners eventually won in ten innings by a score of 3-2.

Our View: Silva has been Jekyll and Hyde in his two starts this season. Tuesday's outing is what the Mariners thought they were getting when they signed him to a monster contract last year. Don't expect him to repeat this performance too often though. There will be more Mr. Hyde starts down the road.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/8, 10:42 PM CT
Carlos Silva got beat up by the Twins on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings. He allowed two home runs and was tagged with the loss.

Our View: The Mariners have a bad habit of overpaying for free agents that turn out to be busts, and Carlos Silva epitomizes that flaw. He was absolutely miserable last year and appears to be continuing that trend in 2009.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 3/28, 6:36 PM CT
Mariners pitcher Carlos Silva was decimated by the Angels in his team's 16-9 loss. Silva threw 3.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (eight earned).

Our View: Shocking. Oh wait, no it's not. Silva was arguably the single-worst pitcher in baseball last year and has continued where he left off, with a spring ERA of 16.88 (albeit in just 5.1 innings). If only he could face the Netherlands more often. In the WBC, he actually held them to no runs in seven innings.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 3/14, 10:41 PM CT
Carlos Silva threw seven shutout innings as Venezuela defeated the Netherlands 3-1 on Saturday. He allowed four hits, no walks, and one run, while striking out four.

Our View: Silva was one of the bigger disappointments in the league last season. He needs a strong defense behind him to have any sort of success, and defense was the Mariners top priority this offseason. Regardless, it would be a stretch for him to become a fantasy factor in 2009.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 12/7, 7:45 AM CT
A year after signing him to a four-year contract, the Seattle Mariners are looking to trade right-hander Carlos Silva, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Silva was arguably the worst starting pitcher in all of baseball last season, posting a 4-15 record and 6.46 ERA. If Seattle wants to trade him, they're going to have to eat salary and not expect much in return. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect much from him, either.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 11/23, 4:27 PM CT
Carlos Silva was awful this past season (4-15, 6.46 ERA) thanks in part to the fact that he was woefully out of shape, according to Everett Herald. Silva gained roughly 30 pounds over the course of the season so the team has set him up with a personal trainer and nutritional program this off-season.

Our View: "Buffalo", an apropos nickname, appears to be on his way to getting back into decent shape, though even if he does that doesn't mean he has any business being on any fantasy squad since he doesn't miss any bats while being beaten around the yard.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 9/23, 11:18 PM CT
Carlos Silva has been scratched from his scheduled Thursday start due to his creaky back, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Silva has been an utter disaster for the Mariners this season, and is useless to fantasy owners in all formats. Seattle still has three years and $36 million to go on his contract.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 9/22, 9:36 AM CT
Carlos Silva's next scheduled start for Thursday is in question as he continues to deal with back problems, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Silva has not won a game since June 28, and will not be missed by fantasy owners if his season is over. He holds a 6.46 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 28 starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 9/14, 10:57 PM CT
Carlos Silva has been awful this season with 14 loses, a 6.53 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP, but he is still hoping to finish off the season on a high note, according to the Mariners Official Website.

Our View: Silva won three games in April and is 1-14 since. Don't count on any kind of turnaround happening over the next two weeks for the pitcher who has turned out to be the biggest free agent bust of the 2008 season.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 9/7, 10:57 PM CT
Carlos Silva was scratched from his start on Sunday, and with his wife expecting a child this week, Silva is leaving to be with her and may miss another start, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Not that fantasy owners will miss him, because no fantasy owners have the overpaid right-hander on their roster.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 9/7, 2:09 PM CT
Silva has been scratched from Sunday's start with a stiff back and will be replaced by Ryan Feierabend, reports the Seattle Times. He injured his back shagging flyballs on Saturday.

Our View: It is not known how long Silva will be out, but we sure hope this does not impact your team for more reasons than one.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 9/1, 10:37 PM CT
In his first start since being activated from the DL Carlos Silva was typically awful has he allowed 10 hits, walked four batters and permitted six runs in just 4.2 innings on Monday night.

Our View: About the only positive on the night was that he didn't suffer his 15th loss of the year as the Mariners offense scored enough to get the win. At this point you would be better off consulting a Ouija board than thinking you can get a solid outing out of Silva.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 9/1, 3:33 PM CT
Mariners pitcher Carlos Silva was activated from the disabled list and will start for the team on Monday, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Silva is not anyone to even consider putting on a fantasy team. He has been one of the worst pitchers in the major leagues this season, with a 4-14 record and 6.36 ERA.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 8/29, 7:10 PM CT
Carlos Silva is slated to be activated from the DL Monday following his bout with right elbow tendinitis, according to Mariners.com. Manager Jim Riggleman said, "He is 100 percent ready to go."

Our View: Silva will start Monday against the Rangers. Silva will be a welcome addition back to Seattle, but not for fantasy teams, as he holds a 4-14 record with a 6.36 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 25 starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 8/21, 9:43 AM CT
Carlos Silva, who is recovering from right elbow tendinitis, is tentatively slated to return to the Mariners' rotation August 31, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: However, because the Mariners would have to make a roster move to get him eligible, they might wait until September 1 when the rosters expand.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 8/16, 7:34 PM CT
The Mariners have placed Carlos Silva on the 15-day disabled list due to tendinitis in his right elbow, the AP reports. Ryan Feierabend has been called up and will start on Sunday.

Our View: We have a feeling that the Mariners won't rush Silva back. He has had a nightmare season, and the club might as well get a decent look at a youngster like Feierabend.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 8/16, 3:29 PM CT
Mariners pitcher Carlos Silva will likely be put on the disabled list due to "arm fatigue," according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Silva's malady has likely been deemed "arm fatigue" because they don't have a medical term for horribleness. For $48 million, the Mariners have gotten one win from Silva since April.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 8/15, 10:49 PM CT
Carlos Silva had another stinker Friday, allowing nine runs on nine hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings.

Our View: Silva has won one start since April and now has a 6.36 ERA on the year. How's that $48 million investment working out for you, Seattle?
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 8/9, 1:55 PM CT
Carlos Silva was angry after the Mariners suffered yet another loss, and he lashed out at some unnamed teammates, saying they are more worried about themselves than winning, according to the Seattle Times. "Instead of moving over a runner, they want to get a base hit because of their numbers. Instead of maybe looking for a ground ball, they want to strike him out because of the numbers," Silva said.

Our View: The Mariners are hideous, and it's quite possible Silva is telling the truth. But shouldn't a guy making $10 million with a 4-13 record and ERA near 6.00 keep quiet about other people's performances?
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 8/8, 11:47 PM CT
Carlos Silva lost his 13th game of the year for the Mariners after allowing 11 base runners and five runs (four earned), over six innings against the Rays.

Our View: Silva just cannot put anything together this season as his ERA sits at 5.93 after 24 starts. Think the Mariners wish they had their $48 million dollars left? They could have just picked up Livan Hernandez off waivers if they wanted a starter who couldn’t get anyone out.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 7/27, 10:44 AM CT
Carlos Silva's next start has been pushed back to Tuesday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: He was scheduled to start Saturday, but was scratched due to back pain. Silva will be a risky and unfavorable fantasy option for Tuesday, as he is 1-4 over his last six starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 7/13, 5:35 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed two runs on six hits, walked one and struck out five in a no-decision against the Royals on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Only the Royals could make Silva look like a compelling fantasy option. The Seattle right-hander entered the game allowing 146 hits in 112 innings, 47 strike outs against 18 walks and a 5.59 ERA.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 7/9, 12:07 AM CT
Carlos Silva went the distance on Tuesday but left with the loss to the A's. He lasted eight innings, striking out five, walking none, and scattering seven hits for two earned runs.

Our View: Silva has had a mostly forgettable season but has lasted eight innings on three occassions. He is 1-2 in those games.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 6/28, 12:09 PM CT
The Mariners will send RHP Carlos Silva to the mound this evening against the San Diego Padres, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Silva's woes continued this past Sunday as the 29-year-old lasted just four innings in an 8-3 loss to Atlanta, surrendering four runs on nine hits, three going for home runs. In nine road starts he has a horrific 1-5 record with an adjoining 6.31 ERA.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 6/22, 3:17 PM CT
Seatte RHP Carlos Silva suffered through one of the worst outings of his professional career today, taking the 8-3 loss against Atlanta. Silva lasted just four innings, surrendering four runs (all earned) on four hits with one strikeout and no walks.

Our View: Silva surrendered three home runs on the day, giving him five total dingers he has surrendered over his past three starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 6/16, 10:58 PM CT
Carlos Silva was ejected from his 15th start of the season on Monday night after arguing a safe call at first base in a matchup with the Marlins.

Our View: Silva allowed two runs and five hits in 4.2 innings before he was replaced by Ryan Rowland-Smith.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 6/16, 1:53 PM CT
Carlos Silva will take the hill tonight when the Mariners host the Marlins, according to MLB.com. Silva is 3-7 with a 5.79 ERA and 1.46 WHIP this season over 84 innings, with only 31 strikeouts.

Our View: Silva faced the Marlins last season, while a member of the Twins, and only surrendered one earned run on four hits over seven innings of work. Silva should still be avoided from your lineups for tonight, as he allowed at least five earned runs in five of his last eight starts.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 6/10, 8:34 PM CT
Carlos Silva swallowed his seventh straight loss on Tuesday night. The right-hander held the Blue Jays to three runs over seven innings but only received one run of support. Two of the nine hits that Silva allowed were homers. He hasn't picked up a win since April 17.

Our View: For once, you can't fully blame this one on Silva. He has been awful more often than not, but this was a decent showing. We'd still avoid him at all costs in fantasy leagues.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 6/4, 7:01 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed five runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out two in a 5-4 loss to the Angels.

Our View: Silva actually lowered his ERA with his lackluster performance, from 6.00 to 5.96. Outside of an occasional favorable start in H2H formats, Silva has no fantasy value.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 5/24, 3:57 PM CT
Carlos Silva, who was moved up a day in the rotation to accommodate Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, didn't fare well pitching on short rest. The right-hander gave up seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits over six innings. The Yankees knocked Silva around early when Giambi connected on a 1-2 pitch for an opposite-field, three-run homer to left, in the second inning. Cano followed with a double and Silva was fighting for his pitching rights most of the afternoon.

Our View: Silva was 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA before a disastrous outing May 4 against the Yankees. Since then he has seen his ERA climb to 5.14 with five poor starts this month.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 5/20, 9:44 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed nine hits and seven runs over four innings in the 12-8 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday night.

Our View: Silva hasn't won in his last six starts after beginning the season 3-0. Look up regress in the dictionary, and you will find a picture of Silva.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 5/17, 9:11 AM CT
Carlos Silva expects to make his next start on Tuesday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: He pulled himself out of his last start due to a strained back, but has recovered favorably, and should be safe to return to your lineups.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/14, 5:18 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed two runs on five hits, walked none and struck out four as the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

Our View: Silva wasn't involved in the decision but was able to pitch well against a good lineup and in a hitter-friendly park. The right-hander worked 6.1 innings before being relieved by Brandon Morrow.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/14, 3:57 PM CT
Carlos Silva left his start against the Rangers on Wednesday due to mild lower back tightness, the Seattle Times reports. The right-hander had allowed five hits and two runs over 6.1 innings.

Our View: What else can go wrong for the Mariners these days? We'll update Silva's status when more is known.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSaturday 5/10, 12:47 AM CT
Carlos Silva suffered his second loss of the season, a 4-2 defeat to the visiting White Sox on Friday night. Silva allowed four runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out one.

Our View: Silva had been performing over his head in early April. His numbers have returned to the earth's atmosphere in his last three starts. Currently the veteran right-hander sports a 4.22 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, close to his career peripherals.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 5/4, 3:48 PM CT
Carlos Silva suffered his first loss of the season on Sunday, as the Mariners fell to the Yankees 8-2. Silva got rocked for eight runs on 11 hits over a mere three innings of work, with no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Silva was off to a great start, as he was 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 42 innings prior to today's nightmarish outing. See if you can lure him away for a reduced price following today's game.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/29, 12:45 PM CT
Carlos Silva was forced out of his last outing due to tightness in his right thigh, but he is good to go to make his start against Cleveland tonight, according to MLB.com. Silva is 3-0 this season, but has struggled against Cleveland in the past. He went 0-3 against the Indians in 2007, and is 4-6 with a 5.30 ERA over his career (17 games) against them.

Our View: Despite his track record against Cleveland, Silva should remain in your fantasy lineup tonight, as he also holds a solid 2.83 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 35 innings this season.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 4/24, 9:10 AM CT
Carlos Silva injured his thigh while pitching against Baltimore on Wednesday, but the ailment is not believed to be serious, according to the Seattle Times. He left action in the seventh inning, but stated, "It's not bad. It's hard to come out of the game, but sometimes you have to be smart. It's only my fifth start. There's a long way to go. I will make my next start."

Our View: The team is already without Erik Bedard, so the Mariners' can breathe a bit easier since Silva is expected to be fine. He is off to a strong start as well, with a 3-0 record and a 2.83 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/23, 11:51 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed two runs over six innings but wasn't involved in the decision against the Orioles. Silva walked two and allowed six hits on the night.

Our View: Silva has made five starts this year with four being of the quality variety. He still doesn't strike out anyone, he has 15 in 37 innings, but his ERA is below three and his WHIP is below 1.20, so if you need a hurler who won't kill your ratios and is still on waivers, you might want to look up Silva.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/23, 11:35 PM CT
Seattle RHP Carlos Silva was taken from Wednesday night's game in the seventh inning with tightness in his right thigh, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Silva was looking for his fourth consecutive victory of the season (and it happens to be his 29th birthday), but was forced to leave the game in the midst of a 2-2 tie against Baltimore.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/23, 12:24 PM CT
Carlos Silva will look to remain unbeaten when he takes the mound at home against Baltimore tonight, according to MLB.com. He is 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA so far, with 11 strikeouts and a 1.14 WHIP.

Our View: He will duel with Orioles' righty Daniel Cabrera, who is 1-0 with a 5.16 ERA. Silva should remain in your fantasy lineups, and the veteran's fantasy stock remains on the rise.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsFriday 4/18, 12:00 AM CT
Carlos Silva followed Felix Hernandez's complete game on Wednesday with a strong seven inning performance leading the Mariners to a 8-1 victory over the Athletics on Thursday night. Silva gave up one run on four hits, walked two and struck out one.

Our View: Silva moves to 3-0 on the season. An impressive April for the veteran right-hander.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 4/7, 5:27 PM CT
Carlos Silva allowed four runs on Monday to the Orioles in seven innings to pick up a no-decision. Silva actually struck out five on the day, of course he walked no one, and he now owns a 3.21 ERA through his first 13 innings. Silva just doesn't strike enough hitters out to have a lot of value in mixed leagues, but he keeps the ball around the strike zone and gives his team a chance to win most of the time.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 4/7, 8:03 AM CT
Carlos Silva had his start pushed up due to Erik Bedard's hip ailment, and he will start on Monday against the Orioles, the Seattle Times notes. Silva will be working on four days' rest. He was originally slated to pitch against the Rays on Tuesday.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsWednesday 4/2, 11:52 PM CT
Carlos Silva impressed in his first start of the '08 campaign, leading the Mariners to a 4-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. Silva threw 116 pitches (68 for strikes) over seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits with three walks and five strike outs on the night. Silva did give up a homer to Ben Broussard in the sixth, but the bulk of the game was nothing short of positive.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsSunday 3/23, 11:22 PM CT
Carlos Silva, who just a week ago, was lit up for 10 runs and 13 hits in 4.1 innings of work, threw under the watchful eye of Mariners pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre on Sunday. According to the Seattle P-I, the M's pitching coach wanted the right-hander to throw about 100 pitches in about seven innings. It took just five innings for Silva to churn through 107 pitches. Stottlemyre, who took off the Cactus League game against the Angels in Tempe to stay behind in Peoria and watch Silva and Brandon Morrow throw against minor leaguers, called it a "rough outing." Not what you want to hear from a pitcher who owns a 9.20 Cactus League ERA.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsMonday 3/17, 7:28 PM CT
Carlos Silva got lit up for 10 runs on 13 hits over 4.1 innings of work against Milwaukee, with two strikeouts and one walk. He allowed seven consecutive hits in the fifth inning, all coming on a cutter, according to MLB.com. He is now 0-2 with a 9.20 ERA this spring.
Carlos Silva, P, Chicago CubsThursday 12/20, 10:24 AM CT
Carlos Silva agreed to a four-year, $44 million deal with Seattle on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times. "Going into this, I made a list of all the free-agent starters who were available," new Mariners pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre said Wednesday night. "And to be honest with you, he was at the top of my list because of his background and the type of pitcher that he is." Silva, who held a 4.19 ERA in 33 starts last season, doesn't have particularly great stuff, but he keeps the ball on the ground and has arguably the best control of any starter in the big leagues.
