Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 3/17, 6:44 PM CT
Nate McLouth posted another doughnut on Wednesday, going 0-for-3. He is now hitting an absurd .036 this spring.

Our View: To be exact, he is 1-for-28 in Grapefruit League action. After his down second half last season, it is certainly something to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to draft him this spring.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/14, 3:24 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Astros on Sunday, lowering his spring average to an impossibly low .045.

Our View: He has one hit compared to 10 strikeouts. You would like to think these struggles won't translate over to the regular season, but McLouth also had a poor second half last year. It might be time to move him down your board.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 3/13, 3:56 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Our View: McLouth is now hitting an absurdly low .053 this preseason. Not a cause for great concern, but still enough to warrant pause when drafting him this spring.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 1/3, 8:10 AM CT
The Braves would like to add another bat to their 2010 outfield, according to Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constituion.

Our View: The team's current trio of Nate McLouth, Melky Cabrera and Matt Diaz certainly isn't up-to-par with the outfields in Philadelphia and New York City. This being Atlanta, however, expect any addition to be a shoe-string one.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 10/4, 5:08 PM CT
Nate McLouth clubbed his 20th homer of the season and represented the Braves only run in a 2-1, 15-inning loss to the Nationals.

Our View: McLouth had a disappointing fantasy season after a breakout campaign in 2008. He didn't play much better when he was traded to a more potent lineup either. He homered 11 times with the Braves in 84 games and hit nine with the Pirates in just 45 contests.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 10/1, 9:23 PM CT
After learning earlier in the day that they had been officially eliminated from the playoffs, the Braves didn't put up much of a fight against the Nationals on Thursday, losing 2-1 at home.

Our View: Their lone run came via a solo Nate McLouth shot. In 81 games since being traded to Atlanta in June, he has hit .258 with ten home runs and 35 RBI. Solid numbers, but not exactly what the Braves envisioned.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/8, 9:57 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit what would prove to be the game-winning home run in the fifth inning on Tuesday night, as Atlanta held on for a 2-1 win in Houston.

Our View: The home run was his second in four September games - two more than he had in ten August games.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/5, 9:21 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Cincinnati at Turner Field.

Our View: The Braves only mustered four hits in the game, and McLouth was their lone source of scoring. He has an RBI in each of his two games this month, after having none over his last four games of August.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/4, 9:35 PM CT
Nate McLouth made an instant impact in his first game back off the DL on Friday, but his solo homer was the only run the Braves could muster against the Reds in their 3-1 loss. McLouth was 1-for-1 with the homer in the game.

Our View: McLouth entered the game in the fifth inning, and he made the most of his time tonight, homering and walking in his two plate appearances. The Braves will need him to get in the lineup as often as possible down the stretch, and tonight's game was a good omen for the rest of the season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/4, 4:42 PM CT
Nate McLouth has been activated off the 15-day DL by the Braves, according to ESPN. McLouth has been on the shelf since August 16 with a hamstring injury.

Our View: The Braves are in the middle of a wild card race, and McLouth can only help their chances down the stretch. He has been hobbled much of the second half with various hamstring issues, but if he is healthy he will be a big addition to the Braves' lineup.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/1, 8:39 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Nate McLouth will embark on a minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with Single-A Rome.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/31, 7:49 PM CT
Nate McLouth's MRI did not reveal evidence that indicates he is dealing with anything beyond a strained hamstring, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Braves will continue to talk about McLouth's status before deciding whether or not he should resume his rehab assignment later this week. He was close to rejoining the Braves before aggravating his hamstring with Double-A Mississippi over the weekend.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/30, 12:41 AM CT

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/28, 9:35 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Braves' center fielder Nate McLouth is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday with the team's Double-A affiliate. McLouth has been on the DL with a hamstring injury.

Our View: McLouth sounds like he is close to a return, as he just needed some rest to get his hamstring to being the healing process. He will likely take it easy while in the minors, but he is hoping to rejoin the team as soon as possible for their playoff push.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/17, 12:56 PM CT
Updating a previous entry, Nate McLouth has been placed on the disabled list as he battles an achy right hamstring, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Our View: McLouth has been battling the injury since August 8, but played last Friday and Saturday, aggravating it in the process. Since coming to Atlanta, he has been a minor disappointment, playing well enough, but hitting just .260 with six home runs. Reid Gorecki has been called up to take his place on the roster, and Matt Diaz, Greg Norton and Ryan Church could all see time in center field while he is out.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 8/17, 12:05 PM CT
Battling a hamstring injury, Nate McLouth is not in the Braves lineup for their Monday afternoon game against the Diamondbacks, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Our View: Expect McLouth to return sometime this week, with this Friday when the team begins a crucial three-game set against the Marlins as the most likely day.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/15, 8:38 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Nate McLouth is expected to be on the shelf for more than a couple of days after aggravating his hamstring injury is Saturday's game against Philadelphia, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: Braves' skipper Bobby Cox noted that he is not considering placing McLouth on the DL, but fantasy owners will have to manage without him for now. Ryan Church should see more action in the outfield while McLouth is down.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/15, 6:03 PM CT
Nate McLouth exited Saturday's battle against the Phillies after aggravating a hamstring injury in the fifth inning, according to the Associated Press.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/12, 3:02 PM CT
Nate McLouth is not in the Braves' lineup for their Wednesday night game against the Nationals. Ryan Church will assume the center field duties in tonight's game.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/11, 4:44 PM CT

Our View: McLouth will rest up today during the off-day, and the team will decide tomorrow if he is good enough to go. Check back tomorrow afternoon on his status, as right now it is about 50-50 as to whether or not he will play.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/9, 3:44 PM CT
Nate McLouth was scratched from the Braves lineup on Sunday with a "tweaked" hamstring, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Our View: Ryan Church will bat leadoff and play center field in his place. Stay tuned for updates.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/5, 5:36 PM CT
Nate McLouth had his first three-hit game in nearly a month on Wednesday, and drove in two, helping the Braves beat the Padres 6-2 in Atlanta.

Our View: McLouth hasn't been re-inventing the wheel during his time in Atlanta, but has hit pretty consistently and remains a great fantasy option in all formats.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/8, 5:07 PM CT
Nate McLouth was 2-for-5 with two runs scored on Wednesday as the Braves beat the Cubs 4-1 in Chicago.

Our View: The McLouth trade has been largely a successful for the Braves. He is hitting 35 points better than he was for the Pirates, and has hit five home during his 26 games in Atlanta. He is still worthy of an own in every format.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/6, 9:22 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 3-for-5 against the Cubs on Monday with a home run, his 14th of the season.

Our View: It marked McLouth's second-straight game to leave the yard and he now has seven multi-hit performances in his last 12 games. He'll continue to be one of the league's better power-speed combinations.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/5, 5:21 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-3 loss at Washington. He hit a single and a two-run homer off Scott Olsen.

Our View: McLouth has a hit in six straight games, and ended a nine-game skid without a homer. McLouth has 13 home runs and 48 RBI putting him on nearly the exact same pace he flashed last season when he posted 26 home runs and 94 RBI.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/3, 5:58 PM CT

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/30, 7:48 PM CT
Nate McLouth was a late scratch for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, according to MLB.com.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 6/22, 9:21 PM CT
Nate McLouth led the Braves in Monday's 2-0 win over the Cubs at Turner Field, as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. He had a single and a double, and also swiped a base.

Our View: McLouth has recorded two hits in four of his last five games, with eight RBI over the span. Keep him active in fantasy leagues while he is swinging a hot stick.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 6/18, 3:46 PM CT
Nate McLouth had his first big game as a Brave on Thursday as he helped his team to a 7-0 win over the Reds. McLouth went 2-for-5 with a home run, a run scored, and four RBI in the win.

Our View: McLouth was hitting only .240 with one homer and two RBI since the trade going into today's game, but he showed Braves' fans what he is all about with his four RBI this afternoon. Expect McLouth to be a solid fantasy contributor all season, but his all-star numbers of last season may not be repeated.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/3, 6:20 PM CT
The AP reports that Nate McLouth has been traded to the Atlanta Braves in return for three prospects. The Braves gave up pitcher Charlie Morton, outfielder Gorkys Hernandez, and pitcher Jeff Locke.

Our View: McLouth erupted onto the scene last year as he hit 24 home runs and 94 RBI while scoring 113 runs and stealing 23 bases. He will fill the vacancy in center field for the Braves and should continue to be a valuable fantasy commodity. His presence in the order also boosts the value of the other Braves hitters.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/2, 8:32 PM CT
Nate McLouth helped lead the Pirates in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Mets at PNC Park, as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI. He hit a double and a triple.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/31, 4:26 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a home run, his ninth of the year, against Houston on Sunday.

Our View: McLouth had been slumping with just on his in his previous 25 at-bats heading into the game, so hopefully this will get him back on track. Plus, he does already have nine home runs and seven stolen bases, putting him well on track for his second-straight 20/20 season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/17, 4:37 PM CT
Nate McLouth was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and two runs scored in the Pirates 11-4 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Our View: McLouth has homered in back to back games, and he has seven on the season. He is up to 28 RBI as well, and it seems apparent that last season's breakout was no fluke. He has drawn just as many walks (16) as he has strike outs.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/10, 4:23 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored in the Pirates 8-4 loss to the Mets on Sunday.

Our View: Over the last nine games, the center fielder has raised his batting average 33 points to .292 and he also has eight RBI. After a rough start, McLouth looks to be capable of replicating his strong performance from last season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 5/8, 10:39 PM CT
Nate McLouth was 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Pirates' 7-3 loss to the Mets on Friday.

Our View: McLouth has been solid this year and is proving to fantasy owners that last season's performance wasn't a fluke. He continues to be the most dangerous hitter in the Pirates' lineup.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 5/2, 9:21 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 8-6 win over Cincinnati at PNC Park. All three of his knocks were singles, and he also swiped his third base of the season.

Our View: McLouth has a hit in both games since returning from a strained right oblique. He raised his season average to .286 following tonight's solid outing.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 5/1, 3:14 PM CT
Nate McLouth will return to the Pirates' lineup tonight against the Reds at PNC Park following his bout with an oblique injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: McLouth is itching to return tonight, and should be fine to pencil back into fantasy lineups. He missed six games with the ailment.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/30, 11:06 AM CT
Nate McLouth feels 100 percent and is hoping to return to the lineup Friday against the Reds, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He has been recovering from an oblique injury.

Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/29, 11:01 AM CT
Outfielder Nate McLouth (oblique) played catch from 90 feet on Tuesday, and he will hit off a tee on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. He will need at least one batting practice session before he returns to the lineup.

Our View: McLouth will miss his sixth straight game on Wednesday, and the Pirates are off on Thursday. It sounds like Friday is a best-case scenario, and we'll have more updates before that time.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/28, 4:19 PM CT
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Nate McLouth is out of the lineup and will miss his fifth straight game Tuesday. He is suffering from a strained oblique.

Our View: It doesn't sound like McLouth will land on the DL, but he's not up to snuff yet. He'll likely be considered day-to-day for a bit, but is expected to be back this week. The Pirates don't want to rush their best hitter back into the lineup and will make sure he's 100 percent before giving him the green light. Brandon Moss will continue to play in his absence.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/27, 9:24 AM CT
Nate McLouth's strained oblique muscle is improving and manager John Russell upgraded his status from day-to-day to "a couple of days," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Russell said, "It is coming around. He is making progress. That is a good sign."

Our View: It sounds like McLouth will avoid the DL, unlike teammates Ryan Doumit (wrist surgery) and Jack Wilson (sprained finger). McLouth will likely miss the three-game set at Milwaukee, which starts tonight. He should be held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/26, 3:05 PM CT
Outfielder Nate McLouth is out again on Sunday, and he is likely to sit on Monday and possibly Tuesday, too. He is dealing with a strained right oblique. "He's still day-to-day, but probably [a] couple days [away]," manager John Russell informs MLB.com. Nyjer Morgan has been patrolling center field, and Eric Hinske and Craig Monroe have been playing in left field.

Our View: The Pirates play six games in the upcoming week, and there's a decent chance that McLouth may only appear in three or four of them. In smaller mixed leagues, that may mean you have better options on the bench.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/25, 5:57 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Nate McLouth is out of the lineup for the second straight day as he is dealing with a tweaked oblique strain.

Our View: What is going on with these oblique strains? McLouth's version is not believed to be a serious one and hopefully he can return for the Pirates games next week. While his average is at just .259, his other numbers have been respectable from a fantasy standpoint.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/25, 7:55 AM CT
Nate McLouth was scratched from the Pirates' lineup on Friday due to a right oblique strain, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The injury isn't believed to be serious, and the decision to rest him was deemed precautionary.

Our View: The injury of the year strikes again. Maybe they can make a pill for it. It was about 60 degrees at first pitch, so perhaps the weather had something to do with the decision. Keep and eye on weather or not he is back in the lineup by the end of the weekend because his loss would be obviously be a significant one.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/20, 9:29 PM CT
Nate McLouth posted his best performance of the young season against Florida on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, one walk and one stolen base.

Our View: McLouth continues to lead the 7-6 Pittsburgh's offense, now with four home runs, two stolen bases and a .277 batting average that has improved from .143 from a week ago. He remains a wonderful five-tool fantasy outfielder.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/17, 9:12 PM CT
Outfielder Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Braves.

Our View: McLouth got off to a slow start in the opening week, but he has now hit safely in four straight games and is up to three homers. We're still waiting for his first stolen base, though. He remains a solid fantasy outfielder.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/14, 9:10 AM CT
Nate McLouth crashed into the center-field fence in Monday's game against Houston at PNC Park, but he indicated he is fine, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He stayed down for a few minutes, but just got the wind knocked out of him.

Our View: McLouth should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups for the second game of the series with Houston Wednesday.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/11, 3:10 PM CT
Nate McLouth busted out of this slump Saturday with a two-run homer and RBI single in the Pirates' 10-2 win over the Reds Saturday.

Our View: McLouth's average still sits at an ugly .176, but he has a pair of homers and four RBI in the first week.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 3/21, 4:37 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit his third home run of the spring on Saturday. The two-run shot was his only hit in three at-bats. He is hitting .353 this spring.

Our View: McLouth is a solid fantasy outfielder. He has a good mix of power and speed and should be able to improve on last year's impressive numbers with more experience under his belt.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/1, 8:11 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit his first home run of the spring on Sunday in a 6-4 win over the Tigers. He finished the day going 2-for-3 overall with three RBI and one run.

Our View: McLouth had a breakout year in 2008, hitting 26 home runs to go with 94 RBI, 23 stolen bases, and a .276 average. We expect him to be even better in 2009 with a year's work under his belt for the first year.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/21, 10:54 AM CT
MLB.com reports that the Pittsburgh Pirates have exercised the 2010 option on manager John Russell's contract.

Our View: The 48-year-old Russell was 67-95 in his first season as a major-league manager and has been applauded for the way in which players respond to his managerial style.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 2/17, 7:07 AM CT
Nate McLouth has agreed to a three-year extension with the Pirates, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The deal includes an option for a fourth year. The Pirates have avoided salary arbitration with McLouth, and the contract is believed to be worth $15.75MM.

Our View: McLouth broke out as an All-Star outfielder in 2008, but did not perform as well when Jason Bay and Xavier Nady were shipped out of Pittsburgh, potentially making him a risky fantasy option due to a lack of a solid supporting cast. He should still be drafted among the top-35 outfielders.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 2/13, 2:36 PM CT
Nate McLouth is optimistic a deal could be reached before Tuesday's arbitration hearing, according to MLB.com. McLouth submitted a figure of $3.8MM, while the Pirates submitted $2.75MM for his first arbitration year salary.

Our View: The last member of the Pirates to have an arbitration hearing was shortstop Jack Wilson in 2004. McLouth broke out as an All-Star outfielder in 2008, but did not perform as well when Jason Bay and Xavier Nady were shipped out of Pittsburgh, potentially making him a risky fantasy option due to a lack of a solid supporting cast.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 1/23, 9:11 PM CT
According to MLB.com, center fielder Nate McLouth is open to the idea of signing a long-term deal to remain with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Our View: Earning $425,000 last season, McLouth appeared in his first All-Star game, putting up career numbers at the plate, and also won his first Gold Glove. The two sides traded figures earlier this week, only to arrive at an impasse that exceeded $1 million. McLouth, who is not eligible for free agency until after the 2011 season, asked for $3.8 million, while the Pirates countered with $2.75 million.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/10, 6:37 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are getting some inquiries about outfielder Nate McLouth.

Our View: Looks like the talks are pretty one-sided right now and the Pirates currently have no desire to trade their best player.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 11/5, 4:48 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Nate McLouth won a Gold Glove for his work in 2008.

Our View: McLouth wraps up a bit of a surprise season. He was voted to his first All-Star game and scored 113 runs with 94 RBI and 26 home runs.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 10/6, 4:13 PM CT
Nate McLouth will not be be traded to the Yankees for Robinson Cano as reports have been speculating, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View: The Pirates are more likely to move Nyjer Morgan given that they would easily replace his production with youngser Andrew McCutchen. The team could also look to move Adam LaRoche, but McLouth is almost certain to remain put.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 10/3, 10:30 AM CT
The Yankees need a center fielder and the Pirates are trying to rebuild their farm system, so the name Nate McLouth has surfaced in trade rumors, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Though Andrew McCutchen will likely be the Pirates center fielder next season, we still find this proposition extremely difficult to believe for a number of reasons. McLouth can simply move to a corner outfield spot next to McCutchen; he is still not eligible for salary arbitration (translation: cheap); and the two teams already made a deal this year for Yankees prospects. And it isn't like the Yankees have a boatload of premium young players coming through. Chalk this one up to pure speculation.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/18, 3:51 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Dodgers. His hit was a double, his 46th of the season.

Our View: McLouth registered his 93rd RBI of the season, and the Pirates have nine games left for him to challenge 100. 16 of his RBI have come in September.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/14, 3:56 PM CT
McLouth had his second big game in three days, going 2-for-3 with his 26th homer of the season.

Our View: He nearly hit for a cycle on Friday and is now hitting .413 in September.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/12, 10:00 PM CT
Nate McLouth had five RBI against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. He missed the cycle by a mere single. He set a career-high for RBI.

Our View: McLouth continues to shine in his first season as a regular. He now has 25 home runs, 89 RBI, 102 runs and 20 stolen bases.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/10, 10:48 PM CT
Nate McLouth had another two hits on Wednesday night while he scored a run and knocked one in for the Pirates in their 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Our View: In nine September games McLouth is batting .419 with seven RBI, 10 runs scored and six steals, his most of any month this season as he pushes for a 25/25 campaign (he currently has 24 home runs and 20 SB).
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/8, 6:47 PM CT
Nate McLouth is listed in the Pirates’ starting lineup for Monday’s game against Houston.

Our View: Great news for McLouth fantasy owners, as he was expected to miss a couple of days.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/7, 6:10 PM CT
The Pirates Nate McLouth dove for a line drive and missed, and the ball hit him in the face, forcing him to leave the game and get three stitches, according to the AP.

Our View: He also stole his 20th base of the season in the game, making him a 20-20 player, so it was not an entire loss on the day.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/6, 11:17 PM CT
Nate McLouth was 3-for-5 with two RBI and his 19th stolen base of the season. One of his hits was his 40th double of the season.

Our View: Although his power has fallen off recently, he remains a productive fantasy outfielder. It's good to see he remains aggressive on the base paths.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/4, 3:22 PM CT
Nate McLouth continued his big season today, hitting his 24th home run in the Pirates loss to the Reds.

Our View: This was only McLouth's second home run in 27 games but he is still a good option for a good third or fourth outfielder.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/29, 9:02 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and registered the Pirates' lone RBI in Friday's 3-1 loss to Milwaukee. His other hit was a single.

Our View: That marked his first homer of August, snapping a 22-game drought. He has 23 for the season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/27, 8:16 AM CT
Nate McLouth could be moved from center field to left field in upcoming seasons, if Pirates prospect Andrew McCutchen makes it to the big league club, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: McLouth does not have a single error this season, but he does not have the best range, and McCutchen is supposedly a superior defensive player. This should not affect fantasy owners, though, as most leagues are not position-specific.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/24, 9:16 PM CT
Nate McLouth has missed four games with an illness, but he should be returning to the Pirates lineup no later than Tuesday, according to Pirates.com.

Our View: McLouth has provided fantasy owners with surprising power, as evidenced by his 22 home runs and .506 slugging percentage. Fortunately, he also has speed, with 14 stolen bases.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/23, 7:57 PM CT
Nate McLouth sat out again Saturday. He hasn't played since Monday due to a stomach virus, according to MLB.com. He had a mononucleosis test that came back negative and is awaiting results on blood work. "He's feeling better; last night, he kind of turned the corner," said manager John Russell. "The consensus, without getting the test results back, is he's on the back side of this."

Our View: It sounds like owners should get Nate back for the upcoming week, but he's unlikely to play Sunday.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/20, 11:48 PM CT
Nate McLouth missed his second consecutive game for the Pirates due to an undisclosed illness, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: McLouth would not have helped the Pirates Wednesday against the Cardinals anyway, unless he could have pitched. Pittsburgh was pummeled by a score of 11-2.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/20, 7:46 AM CT
Nate McLouth was benched in favor of Nyjer Morgan Tuesday due to illness, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: McLouth will be re-evaluated today. He was not benched due to his 2-for-16 skid over his last four games.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/12, 9:07 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-3 with a double and his 14th stolen base, but it wasn't enough as the Pirates were taken down by the Reds by the score of 5-1.

Our View: McLouth's magical season was slowly deteriorating, and he was hitting just .229 in August. He's been great this year for fantasy owners, but don't expect him to produce like he was earlier in the season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/9, 8:56 PM CT
The Pirates and Phillies did battle in the City of Brotherly Love this evening, but the Pirates are not likely to be feeling the warmth after a frustrating 4-2 loss. Outfielder Nate McLouth continues to work as the force of reckoning for Pitt, going 2-for-4 at the dish with his 36th double of the season, totaling one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View: McLouth hasn't homered since July 28th and now carries just two RBIs thus far this month. Of course, if there were players getting on base around him, it would help.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/9, 11:54 AM CT
Nate McLouth has a good history against Phillies starter Brett Myers, who he will face tonight. Though McLouth has just five career at-bats against him, he does have two hits - both of them home runs.

Our View: McLouth has not hit a home run since July 28, but that could change tonight.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/28, 9:17 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit his 22nd home run of the season on Monday against the Rockies. He also walked twice, scored twice and had two RBI.

Our View: McLouth continues to be one of the bigger fantasy surprises of the season and has rebounded nicely from a poor June. You may want to consider him a sell-high candidate in non-keeper leagues as its possible he could wear out down the stretch. He has never had more than 329 at-bats in a season before 2008. He currently has 412.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/12, 10:50 PM CT

Our View: Another day, another homer for McLouth. He now has four homers over his last six games, pulling nine RBIs along the way.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/10, 9:02 PM CT
The offense came late but the Pittsburgh Pirates found the hits needed to pull the 4-2 win over the New York Yankees this evening, led by hot hand of leadoff outfielder Nate McLouth . McLouth went 1-for-4 on the night hitting his 18th home run of the season, totaling two RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: McLouth, the Pirates' lone rep at this year's All Star Game, also added his 10th stolen base on the season. He was hitting .344 for the month of July coming in and now touts three home runs over his last four games.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/9, 9:42 PM CT
Pittsburgh outfielder Nate McLouth continues to enjoy strong performances at the plate despite suffering the 6-4 loss versus Houston. McLouth went 3-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, failing to get a single RBI but posting two runs scored on the night.

Our View: McLouth now touts 32 doubles on the season and is well on his way to improving on the .214 batting average posted last month, going 11-for-32 thus far in July with two homers and eight RBIs.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/7, 9:43 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit a solo home run helping the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 10-7 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night.

Our View: McLouth's home run, his 16th of the season, was his only hit in the 10 run parade by the Pirates.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/6, 10:00 PM CT
Nate McLouth recorded three RBI on Sunday. He was 2-for-5 in the 11-6 loss to the Pirates.

Our View: It was his first multi-RBI game since June 19. His batting average had dropped nearly 20 points in that stretch.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/5, 8:52 PM CT
Nate McLouth returned to the lineup on Saturday after a bout with the stomach flu, but he went 0-for-4 dropping his average to .278.

Our View: McLouth is hitting .203 with just one home run over his last 16 games as the early season gravy train has almost completely dried up. He wasn't that good, and he isn't this bad, so look for his production to normalize in the coming weeks.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/5, 10:04 AM CT
Nate McLouth wasn't able to play on Friday night. He had an upset stomach on Wednesday and was still feeling the effects. "I spent pretty much all day (Thursday) in bed," McLouth informs the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I don't know if it was something I ate or what."

Our View: It sounds like McLouth is day-to-day, and fantasy owners shouldn't be too surprised if he's out on Saturday too.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 6/30, 5:54 PM CT
Center fielder Nate McLouth was a late scratch from the Pirates' lineup tonight because of a sore left knee, this according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Jason Michaels started in center field in McLouth's place.

Our View: McLouth was replaced after six innings in the game against the Tampa Bay Rays after fouling several pitches off his knees in recent days. McLouth is considered day-to-day.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 6/7, 8:55 PM CT
Nate McLouth knocked in two runs on two hits and now has 45 RBI on the season chiefly from the leadoff spot.

Our View: McLouth continues to produce at a level that will find him on every mid-season fantasy all-star squad.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/4, 11:03 PM CT
Pittsburgh outfielder Nate McLouth put one RBI on the board today in the win over the Astros and now carries a whopping 43 RBIs on the season.

Our View: He has gone 7-for-23 at the dish with one home run adn four RBI over his last six games, hitting safely in five of his last six games, but the tremendous run production is the story of the day.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 5/30, 10:16 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View: He now has 13 homers and 40 RBI over 52 games this season, with a .308 average. He remains one of the most productive outfielders in the National League.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 5/30, 10:57 AM CT
Pirates center fielder Nate McLouth was rested from the starting lineup last night for just the third time this season. Jason Michaels took his place in center field.

Our View: McLouth is having an All Star season. Heading into Friday night action he has five stolen bases, 39 RBI, 43 runs, 12 home runs and is hitting .311.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 5/22, 9:40 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 4-for-4 on Thursday with three runs scored and a stolen base for the Pirates.

Our View: McLouth just won't go away. He continues to be one of the top-10 hitters in the fantasy game and tonight's performance allowed him to escape a 1-for-11 stretch the past three games.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 5/20, 6:30 PM CT
With cleanup hitter Ryan Doumit sidelined until further notice, rumors had Pirates skipper John Russell moving Nate McLouth to the middle of the lineup. Russell rebuked the notion and said he liked McLouth hitting behind leadoff man Freddy Sanchez. Tonight, McLouth is hitting third while Jose Bautista hits in the No. 2 slot.

Our View: Nate McLouth's numbers suggest he could be a productive middle-order hitter. The outfielder has 12 homers, the most among all center fielders in baseball. His 36 RBIs trail just Houston's Lance Berkman for the National League lead. He also sports a .629 slugging percentage, and the 53 hits, the 14 doubles are all team-high totals.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/19, 2:18 PM CT
Nate McLouth's numbers suggest a prototypical heart-of-the-order-type hitter, this according to the team website. The outfielder has 12 homers, the most among all center fielders in baseball. His 36 RBIs trail just Houston's Lance Berkman for the National League lead. He also sports a .629 slugging percentage, and the 53 hits, the 14 doubles are all team-high totals.

Our View: With cleanup hitter Ryan Doumit sidelined until further notice, the Pirates could use some power in the middle of the order. However, despite McLouth's power numbers, manager John Russell said he likes McLouth in the No 2 spot behind Fred Sanchez.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/19, 11:25 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Nate McLouth was struck by a pitch on the outside of his right leg just below his knee in the third inning of Sunday's game.

Our View: The spark plug remained in the game and said he was fine. "It's just sore," he said. "But it's just a bruise." Still, tracking these nagging bumps and bruises is important for Daily Transaction leaguers.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 5/17, 3:09 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 3-for-5 and racked up three RBI in Saturday's close 7-6 win over the Cubs in Chicago. One of his hits went for a two-run homer, and he now has 12 for the season.

Our View: He also now has 36 RBI over 42 games, with 36 runs scored, and a .312 batting average. He has slowed down recently, but is seemingly back on track and once again generating strong numbers.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 5/13, 11:33 PM CT
Nate McLouth's average continues to tumble, it's down to .305, but he hit his 10th home run of the season while knocking in his 30th and 31st runs of the season.

Our View: The inevitable slowdown is starting with McLouth, but he has been so hot for so long his numbers are still tremendous, and he will likely be strongly considered for the all-star team if he keeps hitting like he has over the first quarter of the season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/30, 4:29 PM CT
Nate McLouth had another big day on Wednesday with three hits, three runs and three RBI for the Pirates.

Our View: McLouth just doesn't want to admit this start has been but a dream. Since seeing his average fall to .319 on April 25th, he has gone 8-for-18 to boost that number back up to .342.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/27, 3:20 PM CT
Pittsburgh CF Nate McLouth put in work today as the Pirates emerged with a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. McLouth went 2-for-4 at the plate with one walk and one strike out, hitting two home runs to total three RBIs on the day.

Our View: McLouth had been struggling a bit at the plate, going 0-for-14 coming into and after the first game with Phillies. Over the last two days, he has hit three home runs and gone 4-for-8 at the plate with five RBIs.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/26, 9:08 PM CT
Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI on Saturday.

Our View: Just another day at the office for the Pirates’ leadoff man. McLouth is hitting .327-4-18, though he was in a 2-for-21 slump entering Saturday’s game.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/23, 9:08 PM CT
Nate McLouth failed to record a hit for the second straight game on Wednesday night as he went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .349.

Our View: McLouth lost his hitting streak at 20-games when he failed to register to on Tuesday night, so he is now 0-for-6 the past two nights. You knew it was coming, but hopefully the fall will be gradual and not sudden.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/21, 9:25 PM CT
Nate McLouth needed a single in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 19 games, the longest streak to begin a season since Edgar Renteria hit in 23-straight in 2006, this according to the AP.

Our View: When will the madness end? McLouth is hitting .375, this after hitting .249 over his first 708 AB entering the season, so don't expect him to be this year's Tony Gwynn.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/20, 9:43 PM CT
Pittsburgh's Nate McLouth extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a single in the first inning of Sunday's loss to the Cubs.

Our View: The Pirates leadoff hitter now has the longest streak since Jason Kendall hit in 20 straight in 2004.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/18, 5:31 PM CT
Nate McLouth hit his third home run of the season on Friday to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.

Our View: McLouth continues to be one of the best hitters in the early going as he is batting .380 with 15 RBI in 16 games on the year. How long will it last?
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/16, 12:21 AM CT
The Pirates were held to just five hits in tonight's 2-11 whopping from the LA Dodgers, but give CF Nate McLouth credit. He's the only player who got more than one of those hits, going 2-for-4 with a double and one run scored.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/15, 12:27 AM CT
Nate McLouth provided the heroics on Monday night. He jacked a three-run homer off Dodgers closer Takashi Saito to put the Pirates up 6-4 and lead them to a win. It was McLouth's only hit over five at-bats, and he extended his streak to 13 games.

Our View: The center fielder's star continues to rise. We wonder if even the Pirates remember why he entered spring training without a job.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/12, 10:13 PM CT
Nate McLouth extended hit hitting streak to 11-games on Saturday as he is now hitting .396 with a league leading 21 hits.

Our View: Wow. A breakout seemed like a possibility with this guy, but even the most optimistic of backers didn't think he had this kind of start in him.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/12, 2:50 PM CT
Nate McLouth is riding a 10 game hitting streak, and will look to keep it going today against Bronson Arroyo and the Reds, according to MLB.com.

Our View: McLouth is hitting .396 overall (nine extra base hits), with one homer and 10 RBI, with two stolen bases. Continue to start him while he's hot.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/11, 12:22 PM CT
Nate McLouth has hit safely in all nine games for the Pirates this season, and will look to extend his streak to 10 tonight against hurler Edinson Volquez and the Reds, according to MLB.com. He also holds the second highest batting average among National League leadoff hitters, with a .391 mark over 46 at-bats. He is proving to be a great late round fantasy pick in the early going.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/7, 5:57 PM CT
Nate McLouth continued his assault on pitchers as he had three hits and two RBI on Monday leaving him with a .441 average through 34 AB. We told you a breakout could be in the offing with this guy, and he is sure making us look good right now. As long as the Pirates just leave him alone and let him play he could end up being one of the better late round picks this season.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/5, 9:58 PM CT
Nate McLouth had two hits and stole his second base of the season on Saturday night. McLouth is settling in nicely to the leadoff role for the Pirates with two steals and a .391 batting average through five games. Though he was drafted late in almost all leagues, McLouth would appear to be a legitimate 20/20 threat this year if he can stay in the lineup.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/1, 10:40 AM CT
Nate McLouth started in CF on opening day against Atlanta, and he didn't disappoint as he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, while scoring two runs and collecting his first home run. His fantasy stock will continue to rise.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 3/26, 8:54 AM CT
The Pirates told Nate McLouth on Tuesday that he has won the starting center field job. He beat out Nyjer Morgan for the gig. "I've been through a couple Opening Days now," McLouth tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "But to run out to your position -- knowing that it's your position -- is definitely going to be special." McLouth hit .284 with 10 homers, 27 RBI, 36 runs, and 16 stolen bases over the final two months of the 2007 season and could be a steal in fantasy leagues. He will bat leadoff for the Bucs.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 3/25, 3:23 PM CT
Nate McLouth had a dismal day at the plate against Minnesota on Tuesday as he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He still holds a solid .311 spring average and has a firm grip on the starting gig in center field.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/24, 12:22 PM CT
Nate McLouth, who was having a solid spring and by all reports locked up the starting center field job for the Pirates, missed his second straight game with strep throat on Sunday, this according to The Beaver County Times. The left-handed hitter is out indefinitely. The report noted that the Pirates will isolate McLouth from the rest of the players to keep the illness from spreading. McLouth, who could eventually have mixed-league value, put together a strong second half last season. In 66 games and 216 at-bats, the young speedster hit 12 home runs and stole 16 bases
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/20, 6:08 PM CT
Everything points to Nate McLouth being penciled in as the Pirates starting center fielder. The left-handed hitter has easily outperformed his competition this spring, and he becomes a solid NL-only selection for fantasy managers. McLouth put together a strong second half last season. In 66 games and 216 at-bats, the young speedster hit 12 home runs and stole 16 bases.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/13, 5:57 AM CT
Nate McLouth remained en fuego this spring going 3-for-3 at the plate on Wednesday and raising his spring average to .400 (8-for-20). McLouth is fighting for center field positional rights with teammate Nyjer Morgan this spring, and all things being equal, McLouth has earned the starting nod. Morgan is hitting .269 and showing little power in the process. NL-only owners will want to look at McLouth in the late rounds of March drafts.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesWednesday 3/12, 5:12 PM CT
Nate McLouth was 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI Wednesday. He's now hitting .400 this spring with a homer and six ribbies over 20 at-bats. His competition for the center field job, Nyjer Morgan, is batting .269 with one RBI in 26 at-bats. McLouth had an edge over Morgan heading into spring training, and that gap has only widened.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/2, 10:39 AM CT
Nate McLouth was a late scratch from Saturday's game due to a tight hamstring, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Nothing serious," manager John Russell said. Hopefully, he'll be back in the mix soon, competing with Nyjer Morgan for action in center field.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesThursday 2/28, 6:58 PM CT
Nate McLouth, trying to comeback from an injured shoulder, hit a HR on Thursday for the Pirates while knocking in three runs. McLouth and Nyjer Morgan still figure to battle for the leadoff/CF role, but a strong spring could certainly swing the balance of the work to McLouth who hit 13 HR with 22 SB last season in 329 AB.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 2/10, 11:49 AM CT
Nate McLouth and Nyjer Morgan will open spring training in a battle for the starting spot in CF, but it appears that McLouth has the slight advantage in the battle given his left-handed power bat that produced 13 HR last season in 329 AB. McLouth also stole 22 bases for the Pirates. Whoever wins the battle figures to bat leadoff, but for fantasy purposes it looks like McLouth is the player to grab late for his combo of power and speed, that is unless Morgan wins the battle for the spot. Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/28, 6:41 AM CT
Nate McLouth was a late scratch Thursday because he was feeling ill, the AP reports. McLouth has been a sneaky-valuable power and speed option over the last couple of months, not that he's guaranteed anything for 2008.

Nate McLouth will not need surgery on the injured ankle that has kept him out of the lineup since Aug. 11, but his return date is still unknown, according to the Post-Gazette. McLouth said an exam revealed he was born with an extra bone in the ankle, one that was being bruised by two other bones.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/12, 9:26 AM CT
Nate McLouth received a cortisone shot Monday in his sprained left ankle, according to the Tribune-Review. "It's pain-free right now," McLouth said. "It's not a sprain. I have an extra part of my ankle bone that I have and not everyone has. It's not normal. When I stepped down, my tibia and my heal bone kind of crunched that bone together and it was bruised pretty badly." Manager Jim Tracy is unsure when McLouth will return from the DL.
Nate McLouth, CF, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/10, 7:53 AM CT
