Brad Hennessey will begin the season on the DL due to his sore elbow, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: He won't be holding a spot in the Orioles' rotation heading into the season, and should be left for deeper AL-only leagues.

Brad Hennessey received a cortisone shot Saturday for a sore elbow, according to MASN Sports.

Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 2/25, 1:50 PM CT
Brad Hennessey exited Wednesday's exhibition game in the second inning after being examined by trainers on the mound, according to MASN Sports.

Our View: He couldn't get the ball down prior to his exit, but it is uncertain if he suffered an injury. He cannot afford to miss time as he is competing for a rotation spot.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 2/23, 3:15 PM CT
Brad Hennessey wants to make a good impression when he starts the Orioles' first spring training game Wednesday, according to MLB.com. He is competing for a spot in the rotation and pitching coach Rick Kranitz said, "Right now, I think I have an idea of what the rotation is going to be. But that is just right now. That could change, obviously. You look for surprises and guys that can come out and show you they want the position. I think we have to make smart decisions. We are certainly going to see these guys a lot."

Our View: Hennessey failed to make an impact over five campaigns with the Giants, but could benefit from a fresh start in Baltimore, whose bottom two rotation spots are up for grabs.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 11/17, 4:56 PM CT
The AP reports that Baltimore Orioles signed righthanded pitcher Brad Hennessey to a minor league contract for the 2009 season on Monday.

Our View: Hennessey went 1-2 with a 7.38 ERA in 17 games with the San Francisco Giants last season. The 28-year-old had a record of 17-23 and a 4.69 ERA in 148 appearances during five seasons with the Giants.

Giants hurler Brad Hennessey was outrighted by the team, meaning he was taken off their 40-man roster, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View: Hennessey had an awful year, spending part of it in Triple-A. He had a 7.81 ERA in 40.1 innings with a 1.93 WHIP this year.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/15, 11:16 PM CT
Brad Hennessey went the distance against the Diamondbacks on Monday night. However, it was in a losing effort. Hennessey allowed eight hits and three runs over eight innings. He needed only 99 pitches.

Our View: That's two straight solid outings from an unlikely source. Hennessey wasn't pitching especially well at Triple-A before his September call-up, so we're not inclined to trust him.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/10, 6:32 PM CT
Brad Hennessey, in his first start of the year, held the D'backs to just one run in six innings on Wednesday. He allowed four hits, walked three and struck out three in the outing.

Our View: Hennessey entered this outing having allowed 40 hits in 17.1 innings. However, he spent some time in the minors where it was found out that he had a nutritional inbalance that needed to be addressed. Looks like they found the right medicine.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/8, 9:31 PM CT
The Giants have decided to start Brad Hennessey over Kevin Correia against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Hennessey has allowed 24 earned runs over 17.1 innings with the Giants. He is not an option in any fantasy league.

Brad Hennessey has been recalled from Triple-A Fresno, according to the SF Chronicle. When asked if he was sweating out the decision by the team to promote him, he said, "There was no reason to sweat it out. I did enough sweating in Fresno."

Our View: Hennessey has a 7-10 record and ERA near 5.00 in Triple-A, and allowed 23 earned runs over 16 innings with the Giants, so he is not expected to make a favorable impact over the final month of the season.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/29, 10:06 AM CT
Brad Hennessey, optioned to Triple-A in May, will not necessarily be among the players called up when rosters expand in September, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Hennessey has a 7-10 record and ERA near 5.00, in Triple-A, and combined with his ERA that was close to 13.00 in the big leagues, it does not look promising for the righty.
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/7, 6:49 PM CT
The Giants have optioned RHP Brad Hennessey to Triple-A Fresno, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The team will recall RHP Billy Sadler, touting a record of 0-0 with an ERA of 1.13 in 16 innings of work for Fresno, to fill the spot left vacant by Hennessey's demotion. Hennessey was 4-5 with a 3.42 ERA in 69 games with the Giants last season and had struggled to perform this season, allowing 23 earned runs and 38 hits in 16 innings.

Bochy says he'll go to Brian Wilson or Tyler Walker in the ninth inning; Wilson closed out Tuesday's game. "Hennessey probably needs a little break," Bochy said. "Ideally, we'll give him a couple of days off and a chance to freshen up."

"I've been sore many times before, but I could always throw through it. This is the first time where I don't feel like I could." Hennessey said that he underwent strength tests, which revealed no weakness. He wasn't certain whether further tests, such as an MRI, are planned. He might play catch Sunday if he feels fit enough to do so.

Brad Hennessey will be San Francisco's closer when Armando Benitez (knee) isn't available, the Associated Press reports. Hennessey got the final four outs in Wednesday's victory, getting the win as the Giants took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. "We think a lot of Hennessey," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "He has the make up for a guy you'd want in late in the game."
Brad Hennessey, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/18, 1:15 PM CT
Brad Hennessey isn't a lock to make the team, and giving up eight runs in three innings Saturday didn't help his chances, according to the Mercury News. "Consistency has been a big issue for me and I can't deny that," said Hennessey. "But I've also thrown some good games that I feel outweighs that. Every year you're getting more mature." Hennessey's ERA this spring is 11.45.
