Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 3/19, 11:19 PM CT
Jason Lane was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in Thursday's 7-4 loss to the Yankees.

Our View: Lane has four doubles and five home runs amongst his 15 hits this spring. The outfielder is hitting .357 and he may be playing himself ahead of Adam Lind for an OF/DH starting job.

Jason Lane was 1-for-3 Wednesday, but hit his fifth home run of the spring. He's batting a cool .350 this preseason.

Our View: Lane is really making some noise this spring. He has a shot to make the Jays' roster, but would hold little fantasy value as a utility man.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 1/26, 12:42 PM CT
Jason Lane has inked a minor league deal with the Blue Jays, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The 32-year-old outfielder did not make an appearance in the majors in 2008 while working in the minors. Lane would hold little fantasy value if he manages to make the Blue Jays' roster as a reserve.

Jason Lane has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox, according to the Boston Globe. He will work at Triple-A.

Our View: Lane was recently released by the rival Yankees. Lane has good power but won't see much action if called up as the Red Sox have a deep and solid outfield.

Jason Lane can opt out of his minor league deal if he is not called up to the Yankees by Tuesday, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: The team needs to decide whether to recall him, or risk losing him. Lane currently leads Triple-A Scranton with 11 homers and 37 RBI. Shelley Duncan would be the most likely candidate to get sent down if Lane is added to the Yankees' outfield.

The Yankees signed Jason Lane to a minor league deal on Thursday. Lane will be asked to play first base, MLB.com confirms. He had a breakout year in 2005 but has been dismal since that time. At best, he's looking at a platoon role, and we don't foresee much fantasy value here.

The Yankees have some interest in brining in free agent Jason Lane to battle for playing time at first base. Lane has spent nearly all of his career in the outfield but has played four games at first, and the Yanks don't think he'll have any trouble adjusting to the position, according to the NY Post. This seems like an odd move, as Lane has been horrible the last two years, and the Yankees already have Jason Giambi, Shelley Duncan and Wilson Betemit vying for time at first.

The Padres non-tendered Jason Lane Wednesday. Lane showed some promise when he hit 26 homers for Houston in 2005, but he's batted just .192 over the last two seasons.

The Padres, in desperate need for some outfield help with the injuries to Mike Cameron and Milton Bradley, acquired Jason Lane from the Astros Monday for a player to be named or cash. Lane hit just .178 with the Astros this year but did have eight homers and 27 RBI in 169 at-bats. He should get plenty of playing time over the final week.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 8/23, 9:39 AM CT
The Astros optioned Jason Lane to the minors on Wednesday. Lane, who is hitting just .177 in 164 at-bats with Houston this year, will be back with the big league club in September.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 7/23, 10:52 PM CT
The Astros recalled Jason Lane from Triple-A Round Rock to take Hunter Pence's place on the roster, according to the AP. Lane hit .308 with eight home runs for the Express this season. In 36 games with the Astros, he hit .165 with four homers and 10 RBI.

Our View: Lane will likely platoon in right while Luke Scott takes over in center.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 6/3, 5:54 PM CT
The Astros optioned Jason Lane to Triple-A Round Rock Sunday. Lane has hit just .167 in 78 at-bats with Houston this year. "I'm not glad to be going down," Lane said in the AP. "But I feel like I can help a team while playing every day. It's tough to do this role I was doing. It's tough to get on track." Chris Burke was recalled from Round Rock to take Lane's spot on the roster.

Jason Lane will start against some left-handed pitchers this year, though the Astros plan to use Luke Scott as their regular right fielder, the team's website reports.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 3/19, 5:52 PM CT
Jason Lane, who is competing for playing time in right field with Luke Scott, went 2-for-4 with two dingers and five RBI against the Marlins on Monday. He's now got five homers on the spring, and we may end up seeing a platoon in right field.
Jason Lane, OF, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 3/14, 9:23 AM CT
Jason Lane is 10-for-29 this spring as he pushes Luke Scott for the right-field job, the Astros official site reports. Scott is still considered the front-runner, however. Richard Hidalgo (4-for-27) is also in the mix but considered a longer shot, and Phil Garner says he will not use hot-hitting rookie Hunter Pence in right field.
