Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 11/6, 4:52 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang will have his right shoulder examined by orthopedist Dr. James Andrews on Monday, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: The former 19-game winner is slated to throw a rehab game by April or May. Wang underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder in June, and was sad to not be able to participate in the World Series.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 7/31, 5:54 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang has been moved to the 60-day DL by the Yankees, according to TSN.

Our View: Wang underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder earlier in the week to repair a tear in the capsule. The Yankees are yet to speculate on his timetable to return in 2010.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 7/29, 5:14 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Chien-Ming Wang underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, according to the Associated Press. The procedure was performed to repair a tear in the capsule.

Our View: The Yankees are waiting on reports from his surgery before setting a timetable for his return in 2010. He should be dropped in everything but keeper leagues.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 7/29, 12:20 PM CT
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Chien-Ming Wang will undergo season ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday.

Our View: This should come as no surprise to anyone really. Wang had a miserable season when he was healthy and has been virtually worthless since his foot injury last year. The Yankees likely won't consider him a fixture in their rotation moving forward, as he's not likely to ever regain his 2006-2007 form.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 7/24, 7:04 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is slated to visit Dr. James Andrews in Alabama Monday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: There is belief that Wang may need surgery on his ailing right shoulder. The Yankees are not optimistic of getting him back before the end of the season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 7/23, 7:12 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang has sought a second opinion on his ailing pitching shoulder, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Wang is still experiencing pain in his strained right shoulder, and it is uncertain if he will be able to return to the Yankees this season. Sergio Mitre is currently filling his spot in the rotation.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 7/20, 5:42 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang will be shut down until Friday after feeling tenderness in his biceps following a 30-pitch bullpen session today, according to the New York Times.

Our View: It doesn't look like you'll be seeing Wang back in the Yankees' rotation at any point in the near future. Sergio Mitre is set to fill the No. 5 spot in New York's starting rotation on Tuesday and should have at least a few turns to prove worthy of the role.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 7/18, 9:33 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang has declared his troublesome right shoulder "pain free," according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Does it matter at this point? The Yankees struggling righty has no definite return date, and with his 9.64 ERA, injured or not, he probably shouldn't be in your 2009 plans going forward.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 7/5, 11:51 AM CT
Updating a previous report, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the Yankees have officially placed starter Chien-Ming Wang on the 15-day DL with a right shoulder strain. The team recalled Jonathan Albaladejo to take Wang's place on the roster.

Our View: Wang's tumultuous season just keep getting worse. The Yankees have no idea how long to expect him to be out, but right now it seems like it is best for the team when he isn't on the hill. He should not be on anyone's fantasy roster, and he doesn't even look worth stashing on the DL.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 8:26 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is headed to the disabled list with a right shoulder strain, according to The Journal News.

Our View: Wang strained the shoulder in the Yankees Saturday win over the Blue Jays. This just continues the miserable disaster his 2009 season has been. After his 5.1 inning, four run performance, his ERA stands at "just" 9.64. Sergio Mitre has been mentioned as a possible spot starter for Wang's next turn in the rotation, and Phil Hughes will not be reinserted into the Yanks rotation.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 2:34 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Blue Jays' beat writer Jordan Bastian is reporting on his Twitter page that Yankees' starter Chien-Ming Wang left the game with a right shoulder strain. He is set to undergo an MRI later today.

Our View: So the injury is a shoulder strain, but we will know more after the MRI results come back. It's not looking great for Wang at this point, but stay tuned for more updates.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 2:08 PM CT
The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that Yankees' starter Chien-Ming Wang left Saturday's start in the top of the sixth with an unspecified injury. On the previous pitch, Blue Jays' DH Adam Lind hit a go-ahead two-run homer.

Our View: Jorge Posada noticed something was wrong with Wang, and after a meeting with the trainer he was pulled. We will keep you updated on the nature and severity of the injury as the news is released.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 7/3, 7:58 PM CT
Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman tweets that the Phillies and Rangers are two teams that are interested in Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang.

Our View: Wang has been a disaster for the Yankees this season. He's 1-6 with a 10.06 ERA and has spent time on the DL, but the Phillies and Rangers are still in the race in their respective divisions and are desperate for pitching help.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 6/28, 10:53 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang finally picked up his first win of 2009 on Sunday as the Yankees beat the Mets 4-2. Wang went 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out three. He is now 1-6 on the year.

Our View: Wang was pretty good tonight, and he finally looked more like the Wang of old. One good start is not enough to automatically throw him back into fantasy consideration, but it is a good start and it may be worth it to keep an eye on him.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 6/23, 9:04 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang gave up three earned runs on six hits over five innings in Tuesday's 4-0 loss at Atlanta. He had one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Wang takes a loss, and remains winless at 0-6. He has an 11.20 ERA, and is not fit for fantasy duty.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 6/18, 1:57 PM CT
After watching pitcher Chien-Ming Wang's last start on tape, Yankees' manager Joe Girardi has decided that Wang will remain in the rotation, according to MLB.com. Wang lasted only five innings in that start and allowed eight base runners.

Our View: It may have been Wang's best start of the year, but that's only because all of his others were historically bad. Apparently Girardi saw something he liked on the tape, but we aren't nearly as convinced. Stay away from Wang at all cost right now.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 6/17, 9:17 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang fell to 0-5 when the Yankees lost 3-2 to the Nationals on Wednesday. He lasted five innings, allowed eight base runners, gave up three runs and struck out four hitters.

Our View: This was Wang's best outing of the season, but it comes against the worst team in baseball. Tonight was the first time this season he managed to complete the fifth inning. Opponents are hitting .418 off of him this season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 6/12, 12:27 PM CT
The New York Post is reporting that Yankees' starter Chien-Ming Wang needs to have a good start on Wednesday or he will be taken out of the rotation. Wang currently has a 21.61 ERA through five starts.

Our View: After announcing that Wang was going to remain in the rotation, manager Joe Girardi decided that remaining in the rotation qualifies as one more start. The one thing Wang has going for him is that start is against the lowly Nationals, but as bad as he has been this season there are a few high school teams out there who could chase him in four innings. Watch to see how he performs in this do-or-die game, but don't expect much.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 6/11, 3:41 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that Chien-Ming Wang is expected to remain in the Yankees' rotation. The report also points out that Wang has the highest starter's ERA (21.61) through five starts since 1913. Again, he will remain in the rotation for the team with the highest payroll in American sports.

Our View: Wang made two scoreless appearances in relief earlier this season. Rather than put him in a role where he had success, the Yankees have put Phil Hughes, a starting pitcher who is among the best prospects in the organization, in the bullpen.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 6/10, 10:21 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang fell to 0-4 on Wednesday as the Yankees lost to the Red Sox 6-5. He lasted only 2.2 innings while allowing four earned runs, three walks, and six home runs, including a home run.

Our View: The start lowered Wang's ERA to 14.34 on the season. He still seems incapable of holding down a rotation spot for the Yankees. It remains to be seen if he will make his next scheduled outing.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 6/10, 11:11 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang will make his second start since being reinserted into the Yankees rotation on Wednesday night according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Manager Joe Girardi said he will be on a pitch count of 85-95 pitches. Wang has yet to have a good start in 2009, so it is probably best to leave him on your bench until he proves he is back to where he was before his injury last season. Otherwise, your weekly ERA or WHIP could be torpedoed in just one or two innings.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 6/4, 3:53 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang looked very much the same as he did early in the season on Thursday as he returned to the Yankees' rotation. Wang went 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five. He did not factor into the decision.

Our View: So much for Wang's triumphant return to the rotation. The five strikeouts were nice, but other than that he was just not very good. Fantasy owners should run away unless you really believe he can turn it around. If you're going to hold on to him, do it at your own risk.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 6/3, 4:02 PM CT
WFAN is reporting that Chien-Ming Wang will start for the Yankees on Thursday against the Texas Rangers and that Phil Hughes will be sent to the bullpen.

Our View: If true, this is a huge reversal for the Yankees, who just Tuesday said Wang would remain out of the starting rotation for the foreseeable future. It is also a major letdown for Hughes owners as the right-hander had just recently put together his first string of good major league starts. Either way, Wang has been pitching well out of the bullpen and is worth a flier if not already owned in your league.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 6/2, 7:15 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang remains out of the Yankees' rotation and will not be starting Wednesday's game with Andy Pettitte slated to pitch, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Pettitte feels well enough to pitch, and the Yankees want to keep Phil Hughes in the fifth spot in the rotation. As of now, the Yankees do not have plans to work him back into the rotation. He shall remain patiently stashed on fantasy rosters.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 6/1, 9:56 AM CT
The New York Post is reporting that the Yankees feel confident that Chien-Ming Wang can start on Wednesday if Andy Pettitte is unable to go. Wang has pitched five scoreless innings out of the bullpen since his return to the team.

Our View: Wang has been impressive pitching out of the bullpen, and you would think he will make a return to the rotation at some point in the near future. Stll, don't expect it to be this week as Pettitte has said that he is very confident that he will be able to go when his turn comes up.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 5/26, 10:49 AM CT
Skipper Joe Girardi indicated that Chien-Ming Wang needs to improve his consistency on his sinker before rejoining the Yankees' rotation, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Wang performed better while throwing three innings of relief Friday, but Girardi did not speculate when he may move back to the rotation. The club will use him as a starter if they need him.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 5/22, 9:23 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang made his return to the Yankees on Friday and worked three innings out of the bullpen. He gave up six hits and a walk while surrendering two runs and striking out two other hitters.

Our View: The Yankees are keeping Phil Hughes up for now, and they are hoping Wang can show his old form out of the bullpen. However, his stuff is fading and when his sinker isn't dynamite, he's going to get crushed.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 5/22, 11:37 AM CT
The New York Daily News is reporting that the Yankees have summoned Chien-Ming Wang back to New York to pitch out of the bullpen. Wang was scheduled to start for Triple-A Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but the Yankees need his help in the bullpen after starter Joba Chamberlain was pulled in the first inning Thursday after being struck with a line drive in the knee.

Our View: Wang will assume the role of long reliever tonight, but he figures to rejoin the rotation at some point next week. Wang has pitched pretty well in the minors, but his fantasy stock is very low right now. It's probably not worth taking a chance on him unless he proves he is back to his old self.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 5/21, 9:57 AM CT
The Yankees are yet to decide if Chien-Ming Wang will make another rehab start in the minors or will rejoin their rotation, according to the New York Daily News. He has been recovering from hip abductor muscle weakness.

Our View: Skipper Joe Girardi is expected to make a decision later today. The club expects him to be a key member of their rotation, but won't let him return until they feel he is fit.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 5/19, 4:14 PM CT
The Times-Tribune.com is reporting that Chien-Ming Wang has cleared out his locker at Triple-A Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and he is not listed on the upcoming rotation.

Our View: It looks like Wang may be heading back to New York. He has been impressive in Triple-A, and apparently the Yankees feel he is ready to head back to the big city. He is a risky fantasy play at best right now, but he may be worth a flier if you have an open rotation spot.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 5/18, 7:31 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Chien-Ming Wang will throw a bullpen session at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. Manager Joe Girardi will evaluate the starter's readiness based on the command of his sinker rather than his velocity. Wang was placed on the DL with weakness in both hips, and he has thrown 13 shutout innings in Triple-A.

Our View: Wang was awful through his first three starts this season, but fantasy owners find it hard to forget his two 19-win seasons. He has very little strikeout ability and his fantasy value is moderate at best. The hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium does not figure to help his production.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 5/18, 9:28 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang threw seven scoreless innings in his rehab start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Sunday, according to the New York Daily News. He is recovering from hip abductor muscle weakness.

Our View: Wang threw 75 pitches without a problem, and could be ready to return to the Yankees' rotation. Wang has been a solid pitcher for New York before struggling over three starts this season, and could prove to be a steal if you can acquire him for a low price right now.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 5/12, 8:36 AM CT
The New York Daily News is reporting that Chien-Ming Wang may need more than one rehab start before making his return to the Yankees. He is scheduled to make his next start on Tuesday in Triple-A Scranton.

Our View: Manager Joe Girardi was hoping Wang would be ready to return after Tuesday's start, but GM Brian Cashman indicated that there is no rush with Wang and that two starts may be in his best interest. Wang should be utilized in fantasy circles very carefully upon his return, but if he is back to his old self he could be a real value.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 5/11, 7:17 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is scheduled to make his next rehab start on Tuesday, according to the Star-Ledger. He is recovering from hip adductor muscle weakness.

Our View: Wang is expected to throw 100 pitches, and could return to the Yankees' rotation if he performs well in his outing.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 5/7, 7:34 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang struck out seven batters over five innings of work in an extended spring training game on Thursday, according to MLB.com. He allowed three hits and no runs in the game. Wang is recovering from a hip injury that placed him on the DL. He is scheduled to throw 100 pitches in his next start on Tuesday.

Our View: If Wang shows well next Tuesday, it is possible that he could rejoin the rotation five days later. Once he does come back, the Yankees will have to make a decision on what to do with Phil Hughes and the rest of their pitching staff.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 5/3, 9:29 AM CT
According to the New York Daily News, the foot problem that caused Chien-Ming Wang to miss much of last season is also the reason for the weakness in his hip muscle this season.

Our View: The Yankees think they have found the problem, and they hope Wang will be ready to pitch for the team sometime in the near future. Wang could be an interesting fantasy player in the coming months, because when he is on he's a very good fantasy pitcher. If you have an extra roster spot he may be worth an add, but don't start him until he shows his problems are behind him.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 4/30, 10:21 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang, who is dealing with hip abductor muscle weakness, has been cleared to throw as many as 65 pitches on Saturday in an extended spring training game, according to the Journal News.

Our View: Wang could return to the Yankees' rotation in late-May, if his velocity returns to where it needs to be for him to be effective. He allowed 23 earned runs and six walks over six innings (three starts) this season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 4/27, 3:31 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang threw in the outfield Monday as part of his rehab from weakness in his abductor muscle, according to the Associated Press. Wang threw in the outfield for around 10 minutes and did sprints.

Our View: Yankees' VP Billy Connors noted that Wang did not experience any pain and did some drills that will bring his velocity back to where it needs to be. Wang could return to the Yankees' rotation in late-May.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 4/25, 7:39 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang has been placed on the 15-day DL due to an injury to his abductor muscles in both of his hips, according to TSN. Dave Roberts was recalled from the minors to take his roster spot.

Our View: Wang is dealing with "weakness" in his hips which is the explanation that the team is going with to explain his putrid work this far (23 ER in just six IP). Look for him to return in three or so weeks at which time the team expects him to be healthy enough to at least resemble a major league pitcher again.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 4/24, 6:12 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Chien-Ming Wang is still scheduled to start Tuesday despite rumors that his injured foot is the reason for his slow start, acording to ESPN.com. If he can't go Tuesday, it is expected that Phil Hughes will be called up to replace him.

Our View: There have been rumors that Wang is headed to the DL, but he was examined by a soft tissue specialist, and the Yankees still plan to start him Tuesday. If he is on your roster, keep a close eye on how this situation develops. It is probably wise to sit him on Tuesday even if he does pitch, that is unless you can afford to risk a sky high ERA and WHIP early in the week.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 4/24, 7:21 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang may be headed to the 15-day DL, according to the New York Post. He will throw a bullpen session Saturday, and could then be placed on the DL to build up arm strength.

Our View: Wang's velocity is not near the 93-94mph it was at a year ago, and his fastball is not sinking as it should. His slider has improved, but the aforementioned issues are why he is 0-3 with 23 earned runs allowed over a mere six innings of work. He should remain held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 4/21, 4:29 PM CT
Newsday reports that Chien-Ming Wang will pitch in an extended spring training on Thursday. He is scheduled for 100 pitches and will be closely examined by the Yankees staff in order to determine why he has been so awful to start 2009. He will remain on the Yankees active roster.

Our View: Wang has lasted only six innings through three starts and has a pitiful 34.50 ERA and 4.83 WHIP. It's still too early to say he is done, and he could still return to be an effective pitcher at some point this season. Given his start though, he probably shouldn't be on any fantasy league rosters.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 4/20, 6:39 PM CT
As expected, the Yankees will indeed skip Chien-Ming Wang's next turn in the rotation, according to MLB.com.

Our View: With on off-day on Thursday, this move was expected even before Monday's rain-out. "The confidence is still there," Wang said through an interpreter. "I know what I can do. I just haven't pitched up to my ability yet. Hopefully I can get my groove right." While it's good to see that Wang hasn't taken his rough start too harshly, he's simply been too bad to trust at this point, and frustrated owners can't be blamed if they choose to cut the chord on Wang for a hotter option. With his turn being skipped, Wang won't receive his next shot on the mound until the end of April
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 4/19, 11:12 AM CT
The Yankees have on off-day on Thursday, meaning Chien-Ming Wang could be skipped in the rotation, according to the New York Times.

Our View: Wang has been nothing short of disastrous this season, making it seem highly likely that the Yankees will opt to skip his turn in the rotation against the rival Red Sox given that they can still keep all of their other starters on four days of rest. Wang is not hurt and is also out of minor league options, so it seems like New York will simply have to hope he straightens things out and put him out on the mound on April 28 against Detroit. It wouldn't be ludicrous to drop Wang at this point, and if you hang on to him, you certainly don't want to have him active in your lineup until he proves to be back on track.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 4/18, 7:28 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang was annihilated in his start on Saturday. Cleveland's bats lit him up to the tune of eight runs on eight hits in 1.1 innings. His slump continues and he's now 0-3 on the season.

Our View: Something is not right here. Wang has bolstered the Yankees rotation for years now, but appears to be a different pitcher altogether. He now has a 34.50 ERA on the season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 4/15, 2:54 PM CT
The Star-Ledger is reporting that Chien-Ming Wang threw live batting practice before Wednesday's game in hopes of ending his current slump. He has surrendered 15 runs in his first two starts of the season.

Our View: This is rather unusual, but anything that can be done to fix Wang is worth a try. Girardi seemed quite happy with the session, so hopefully this will help get Wang back to his winning ways.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 4/13, 10:07 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang lasted only one inning in Monday's 15-3 loss to the Rays. He gave up six hits and walked three more batters while allowing eight earned runs in the awful display of major league pitching.

Our View: Wang is off to a dreadful start - as you may have determined by his 28.93 ERA. In the past he has been a very consistent and mostly effective pitcher. We would like to think that he will come around, but there's certainly plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 4/8, 9:20 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang was roughed up by the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over just 3.2 innings. He was handed his first loss of the season.

Our View: Wang should still be a quality fantasy hurler this season and is a strong candidate to amass a solid win total after full season marks of 19 and 19 in his last two healthy seasons. However, you will have to look for your strikeouts elsewhere as he owns a career K/9 mark of 4.02.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 4/3, 7:57 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang had a mediocre outing on Friday against the Cubs. He allowed four runs on six hits in five innings.

Our View: The only good news for Wang on Friday was that he left in line for the win, but that's only because his counterpart, Ted Lilly, was getting the snot beat out of him and had to leave after four innings.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 3/23, 4:37 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang allowed three runs on five hits in five innings to take the loss against the Phillies on Monday. He is now 0-2 this spring.

Our View: Wang has been inconsistent this spring, but he should be ready to go this season. Look for him to benefit from the presence of CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett at the top of the rotation, both of whom should allow Wang to fit nicely in the third spot.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 3/18, 4:21 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang had a bounce back start Wednesday against the Astros, allowing one run on three hits over five innings.

Our View: Wang should be a solid fantasy starter and is a good bet to get to 15 wins with the Yankees' line up protecting him. If he stays healthy. His K-rate is a deterrent, but he makes up for it in other categories.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 3/13, 10:28 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang got shelled by the Red Sox Friday night, allowing seven runs on six hits in only an inning and two-thirds. Only one of those seven runs was earned.

Our View: Chances are this outing is simply an isolated slip-up. Wang should be a solid fantasy starter yet again this season, barring injury, of course.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 3/7, 3:10 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang went three innings in the Yankees 3-1 loss to Atlanta on Saturday. He gave up three hits, walked none, and struck out two. The only run he allowed came on a Casey Kotchman solo home run.

Our View: Wang has looked solid this spring, and the ankle injury that took him out last season will not a problem this year. He won't strike out many hitters, but he knows how to win games.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 3/2, 5:46 PM CT
The Yankees former ace, Chien-Ming Wang, threw two scoreless innnings against the Astros Monday. He allowed two hits, zero walks and zero strikeouts, which is no surprise for Wang.

Our View: No longer the top dog, due to big name free agent signings, Wang is still a valuable pitcher and could rack up decent win totals with the Yankees' line up on his side. Strikeouts and K/9 remain a concern.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 2/3, 9:28 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang threw off a mound for the first time this year after injuring his foot last season running the bases, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The Yankees have declared Wang ready for spring training and that he will be 100 percent when the season begins. Wang won 19 games in both 2006 and 2007 and will be a key pitcher for the Yankees this season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 12/22, 5:21 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang signed a one-year deal with the Yankees for $5 million on Monday, according to the Yankees' official site. The deal allowed the Yankees to avoid arbitration.

Our View: Wang went 8-2 last year before missing the majority of the season due to a foot injury that he sustained while running the bases at Houston.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 10/29, 9:33 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang threw a bullpen session earlier this week, and was also checked out by a doctor, who labeled the Yankees hurler as 100 percent healthy, according to the Lower Hudson Journal News.

Our View: Wang was off to a good start last season at 8-2 when he injured his foot running the bases in an interleague game in June, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season. He'll once again be a solid fantasy option next season.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 10/17, 3:22 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang threw 25 pitches Friday in his first throwing session off a bullpen mound since hurting his foot in June, according to the AP. Wang partially tore a tendon and sprained his right foot running the bases during the Yankees’ 13-0 interleague win at Houston on June 15. “It’s better. It’s good,” Wang said. Wang also made 20 throws off a half-mound before the bullpen session.

Our View: The right-hander was 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA in 15 starts before his season-ending injury. He won 19 games in both 2006 and 07.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 9/14, 3:09 PM CT
Wang (foot) played catch on Sunday, reports MLB.com. He is on track to be ready for spring training next season.

Our View: This is encouraging news for the Yankees' starter.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 8/20, 10:07 AM CT
Manager Joe Girardi believes Chien-Ming Wang is unlikely to be available to pitch in October if the Yankees make the playoffs, according to the NY Daily News. He is still wearing a walking boot on his injured right foot.

Our View: It was previously believed that he may be able to pitch in the playoffs, but that no longer looks to be the case. The Yankees are 11 games back in the AL East, with 37 contests to go.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 8/1, 8:35 PM CT
The Yankees worst fears were realized on Friday when manager Joe Girardi announced that former ace Chien-Ming Wang would indeed miss the rest of the regular season due to his injured foot, according to the New York Daily News. "The chances of us getting him back September 1 are zero," Girardi said. "October 1? It's possible."

Our View: Wang could still help out the Yankees if they were to make the playoffs, but they will have to get there on the arms of pitchers like Darrell Rasner and Sidney Ponson and not their staff leader.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 6:35 PM CT
Yankees RHP Chien-Ming Wang had his cast removed today and is now sporting a protective boot, but the team reports a timeline for his rehab is still unknown, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Yankees ace injured his right foot running the bases during an Interleague game in Houston on June 15. He was placed on the disabled list on June 17, retroactive to June 16, with a ligament sprain and a partial tendon tear. Wang said he did not have a clear idea of when he would be able to start pitching again, and manager Joe Girardi said the timeline for Wang's rehabilitation could be similar to the spring training process, probably about six to seven weeks.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 6/17, 5:19 PM CT
The Yankees officially placed Chien-Ming Wang on the DL Tuesday. The righty will miss at least six weeks, and likely more, with a mid-foot sprain of the Lisfranc ligament and a partial tear of the peroneal longus tendon in his right foot, according to SportsTicker. Wang injured the foot while running the bases on Sunday.

Our View: It's possible Wang's season is over, though the Yankees hope he can return not long after the All-Star break. Dan Giese will take his spot in the rotation for the time being.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 6/16, 2:02 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang doesn't need surgery for his foot injury, but could miss two-to-three months of action, according to the NY Daily News. A source close to the situation said, "He's going to be out for awhile. It could be 60 to 90 days. The good news is he doesn't need surgery. We're delighted it's not more serious, but we're very concerned that it'll take him out for a couple months."

Our View: That means he will be on the shelf until at least mid-August, on the short end. This is a tough loss for the Yankees' rotation, and the team is already dealing with injuries to Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy. The team is yet to name a replacement for Wang.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 6/15, 6:21 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang hurled five scoreless innings, with six hits allowed, in Sunday's 13-0 blowout win over the Astros, with no walks and three strikeouts. He was forced out of action due to a foot injury, but went long enough to earn his eighth victory of the season.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 6/15, 5:51 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, according to the Journal News. Manager Joe Girardi commented that he would be shocked if Wang made his next scheduled start.

Our View: The Yankees said Wang sustained a sprained foot Sunday, not his Achilles tendon or ankle. Wang is reportedly in a lot of pain, and the team won't know how bad the ailment is until tomorrow or Tuesday.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 6/15, 4:13 PM CT

Our View: No further information is available at this time. We will keep you posted regarding the severity of his ailment.

Chien-Ming Wang improved to 7-2 win a win over the A's on Tuesday night. The right-hander held the AL West club to seven hits and two runs over 7.1 innings. Wang struck out two and walked two.

Our View: Wang didn't make it easy on himself. The A's got the leadoff hitter on in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, but he was aided by four double plays. Anyway, it's nice to see this line after a string of pour outings.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 6/5, 4:15 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang continued an awful run of pitching on Thursday as he allowed seven runs, six earned in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

Our View: Wang continues to confound as he has now allowed at least five earned runs in each of his last four starts leading to an 8.75 ERA. We've said it all along, too many walks and not enough strikeouts eventually catch up to a guy. Consider Wang caught.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 5/31, 12:02 PM CT
The New York Yankees have slated ace Chien-Ming Wang for tonight's start at the Minnesota Twins, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Wang has allowed a total of just 63 hits over 73 innings of work this season, and while he is 2-0 over his career versus Minnesota, he comes off a tough no-decision against Seattle, surrendering five runs (all earned) on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesMonday 5/26, 10:27 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang surrendered five runs over 6.1 innings (with four walks) in his last start, but he insists that his strained right calf wasn't an issue, according to the NY Post. He did not have an answer for his lack of control, and simply stated, "The ball was all over the place, I had no control." His start was pushed back a day due to the calf, and Manager Joe Girardi said, "He's not used to going on that extra rest. He had a couple of walks that hurt us, but he kept us in the game."

Our View: Wang has now allowed 12 earned runs over his last two starts. Hopefully he will bounce back in his next outing. He is still 6-2 with a solid 1.22 WHIP over 11 starts.

Chien-Ming Wang gave up five runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings in Sunday's 6-5 win over Seattle, with four walks and two strikeouts. Wang ended his day with a no decision.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 5/23, 8:49 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang has had his next start pushed back from Saturday to Sunday, even though his right calf felt fine when throwing on Thursday, the New York Post reports. Mike Mussina will pitch on short rest on Saturday.

Our View: It doesn't sound like fantasy owners should be too worried. Joe Girardi is just being cautious.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesThursday 5/22, 7:09 PM CT
The Yankees report RHP Chien-Ming Wang completed his regular bullpen session today without pain or discomfort, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Wang is nursing a mild strain of his right calf, an injury suffered during the seventh inning of his last start against the Mets. Wang noticed discoloration in the leg later that evening and went to the hospital, at which time an MRI was performed that showed only a mild strain. The team reports Wang will be asked to run and cover first base on Friday. If he does so without issue, the hurler will cleared for his next scheduled start on Saturday.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 5/21, 6:00 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is dealing with a mild calf strain, according to the NY Daily News. An MRI showed no serious damage. Wang said he suffered the injury while covering first base in the seventh inning on Sunday night. "I'll be fine," Wang said. "It's better. Now it's good. I don't feel it." Yankees media relations director Jason Zillo said that Wang is not expected to miss his next turn in the rotation, which is scheduled for Saturday.

Our View: The Yankees don't need any other problems, though this at least doesn't sound serious. We'll let you know if Wang has any kind of setback and can't go.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 5/18, 11:06 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang hung around long enough to have a tough night as the Mets were able to get to him for seven runs in 7.2 innings of work. Wang walked three and had only one K on the night.

Our View: This was one of those nights were a couple of the ground balls he induced just found the holes. Still, tonights reversal of his K/BB ratio is a sign that needs to be monitored going forward. After this outing, his ERA rests at a more reasonable 3.51.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 5/18, 10:34 AM CT
The Yankees will look to RHP Chien-Ming Wang to push them away from the sweep as they face the crosstown rival New York Mets today at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: Wang is 6-1 with a 2.90 ERA but received no runs of support in his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays as he gave up one run on seven hits over seven innings. He has faced the Mets once and emerged victorious, surrendering just two runs on six hits over 8 2/3 innings.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 5/13, 10:03 PM CT
The Yankees suffered the heartbreaking 2-1 loss in 11 innings to the Tampa Bay Rays, but starter Chien-Ming Wang continues to prove his value. Tonight he left with no decision, pitching seven innings to allow one run on seven hits, walking three and striking out two.

Our View: The struggles to balance strikeouts and walks continue, but Wang has been eating innings and keeping his team in the hunt.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 5/7, 9:47 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang lost his first game of the season as he allowed three runs in seven innings against the Indians.

Our View: After a bit of a rough start, Wang found his groove and ended up with solid numbers on the night. He will continue to win games, but you have to be a little concerned that his ERA will stay in the low 3's.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 5/2, 9:19 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang became the American League's first six-game winner, ending the Yankees' three-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSunday 4/27, 3:37 PM CT

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 11:21 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang scattered 10 hits and improved to 4-0 with a win over the White Sox on Tuesday night. The right-hander allowed three runs, walked two, and struck out five over six innings.

Our View: The hit count was a little high, but that's a pretty typical Wang outing. The hurler is a magnet for victories and a solid No. 4 in mixed fantasy leagues.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 11:17 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang will look to remain unbeaten when he takes the mound against the White Sox in Chicago tonight, according to MLB.com. Wang is 3-0 this season, and is notably 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in three career starts at US Cellular Field.

Our View: He will square off against Jose Contreras, who is 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA. Wang seemingly has the advantage in this match-up.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 4/16, 10:34 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang had his first brutal outing of the season as he was tagged for nine hits and three walks which led to eight runs in four innings.

Our View: Wang just didn't have control of his ball tonight, and the Red Sox made him pay by working the count until they got pitches the could handle. Look for him to bounce back next time out.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 4/16, 12:57 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is off to a 3-0 start (with a 1.23 ERA) and is set to battle the Red Sox for the second time this season tonight, according to MLB.com. He notably threw a two-hit complete game in his previous outing against Boston.

Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 4/11, 9:30 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang was magnificent on Friday as he needed just 93 pitches to hurl a CG victory over the Red Sox. Wang permitted two hits and one run on a solo HR. Wang improved to 3-0 while lowering his ERA to 1.23 as his sinker just keeps on sinking and missing the sweet spot of bats.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 4/11, 12:29 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang is going for his third win of the season tonight on the road against the rival Red Sox, according to MLB.com. He has dominated over his first two outings while maintaining a 1.38 ERA, but tonight's game won't be quite as easy, as he holds a 2-3 record and 6.17 ERA at Fenway Park. He last faced Boston on September 15 at Fenway Park, while suffering the loss in a 10-1 blow out. He surrendered five runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings. The Yankees could be without team leader Derek Jeter, to make it even harder on him.

Chien-Ming Wang picked up the win in the final home opener at Yankee Stadium Tuesday, limiting the Blue Jays to two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two. Chien-Ming Wang was off his game against Philadelphia on Wednesday as he allowed four runs on six hits over five innings of work, with two walks and two strikeouts. His spring ERA climbs to 8.04 and the Yankees must be displeased with their top of the rotation starter right now.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesFriday 3/21, 4:51 PM CT
Chien-Ming Wang will be the Yankees starting on opening day after back-to-back 19 win seasons, this according to ESPN. There is no denying the guy is a winner on the field, but his fantasy value is limited by terrible strikeout numbers and merely a solid WHIP. Wang is a 3-4 fantasy starter, not the 1-2 that he is often drafted to be.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesWednesday 3/12, 10:59 AM CT
Chien-Ming Wang bounced back from a putrid Grapefruit League outing last week with a solid performance versus a team he typically struggles against. According to MLB.com the sinkerballing right-hander broke two bats and limited Toronto to a pair of singles, reaching his pitch count after 3 2/3 innings. "I'm still not 100 percent," Wang said. "I'm still not in game shape. But I'll get better." Wang is undervalued this March. The average draft position for the Yankees' opening day starter is the middler rounds of traditional formats. This from a guy who has back-to-back 19-win seasons.
Chien-Ming Wang, P, New York YankeesSaturday 3/8, 10:02 PM CT

"First off, let me tell you, I am not afraid of Wang pitching against Cleveland again. He didn't pitch his game tonight. You know, you win 19 games in this league, you certainly earn it. I am certainly not going to shy away from pitching him again." If Torre decides not to start Wang in Game 4, Mike Mussina would be the most likely option.
