Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 12/9, 6:39 PM CT
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates will sign shortstop Bobby Crosby to a one-year deal worth $1 million. The contract is expected to be finalized on Thursday.

Our View: Crosby has the $1 million base, but can make an additional 500K in performance based incentives relative to plate appearances. The former Oakland A has been a disappointment since winning the Rookie of the Year award and managed just a 223/.295/.357 line last season. He will battle Ronnie Cedeno for the everyday shortstop job.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 12/8, 3:22 PM CT
Bobby Crosby is very close to signing with the Pirates, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The former Rookie of the Year has dealt with back issues and overall struggles ever since his first year in the majors but would have a chance to compete for everyday playing time in Pittsburgh, which could potentially give him renewed fantasy value.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 12/4, 4:45 PM CT
The Tigers are believed to be in talks about acquiring Bobby Crosby, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Detroit would consider him an option at shortstop after going with Adam Everett and Ramon Santiago at the position in 2009. Crosby is coming off a down year in Oakland, but there is belief the former AL Rookie of the Year could benefit from a fresh start with a new club, like the Tigers.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 12/2, 9:19 AM CT
The Red Sox are believed to be interested in Bobby Crosby, according to Mike Silverman's (Boston Herald) twitter page.

Our View: The Rockies and Rangers also like the veteran infielder. He is coming off a disappointing 2009 campaign with Oakland, but could benefit from a fresh start with a new club.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 9/2, 11:50 AM CT
Bobby Crosby (calf) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Our View: Crosby is batting just .223 in 211 at-bats this season, and will likely platoon with Cliff Pennington at short for the rest of the season.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 8/28, 11:09 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that A's infielder Bobby Crosby is nearing a return to the team. Crosby did some running on Thursday for the first time since being placed on the DL with a calf injury, and he is eligible to come off the DL on September 2.

Our View: Crosby would probably be fine with calling it a day and starting his search for a new team, but it looks like he will be able to play in the next week or so. He has already said that he won't be returning to Oakland next season, so maybe he can use the last month of the season to audition for a job elsewhere.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 8/26, 4:52 PM CT
Bobby Crosby is unlikely to return to Oakland after this season, according to the Mercury News. He will become a free agent in the offseason and he said, "The team is obviously moving in a different direction, and I have made it very clear I want to play shortstop. If the opportunity was given to me to play shortstop here, I would have no problem coming back, but I know that is not going to be the case."

Our View: Crosby has a $5.25MM salary this season, and has failed to stay healthy. There will be several good shortstops eligible for free agency in the offseason, such as Miguel Tejada, and Crosby does not see himself re-signing with the A's.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 8/21, 5:23 PM CT
The Miami Herald reports that the A's have placed infielder Bobby Crosby on the 15-day disabled list with an injured calf.

Our View: Crosby was hitting just .223 with six homers and 27 RBI in 87 games with the A's this season and has landed on the DL an unbelievable seven times this season.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 8/18, 8:35 PM CT
Bobby Crosby is out of tonight's lineup against the Yankees, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Crosby is day-to-day while recovering from tightness in his calf. He could play in an emergency if needed.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 6/22, 11:55 PM CT
Bobby Crosby led the A's offensively in Monday's 5-1 win over the Giants at McAfee Coliseum, as he went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Our View: Crosby only has five hits over 30 at-bats in June, and should not be considered for fantasy lineups following tonight's three-RBI outing.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 6/8, 9:39 AM CT
Bobby Crosby left Sunday's game in the seventh inning to be with his wife in the hospital, as she suddenly went into labor, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Crosby was replaced by Jack Hannahan at first base.

Our View: Congrats to the Crosby family on their new addition. It is unknown what Crosby's status will be for Monday's game, but he has no fantasy value so it should not be an issue for fantasy owners. Crosby is hitting .198 on the year at this point, so he should be avoided in all leagues.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 5/16, 11:15 AM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Bobby Crosby left Friday's game with an upset stomach.

Our View: Crosby tried to make a play on a grounder, but muffed it due to stomach pains. He's considered day-to-day but could miss some real time depending on the severity of the injury.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 3/15, 9:29 AM CT
According to the Boston Globe, the Yankees and Cubs have been evaluating converted shortstop Bobby Crosby as an option at third base, but neither has expressed overwhelming interest.

Our View: The Cubs seem content on giving veteran Corey Koskie the chance to back up Aramis Ramirez, while the Yankees have insisted the third base job is Cody Ransom's until A-Rod returns.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 3/10, 12:06 PM CT
Bobby Crosby would like to be traded anywhere that he can start, even at third base, according to MLB.com. He said, "I want to play. I do not care where I play as long as I am somewhere where I can play every day. Ideally, I want to play shortstop. But it kind of goes in progression: If I cannot play shortstop every day, I want to play somewhere every day. If I cannot do that, then I want to get in there are much as I can."

Our View: He noted that he would feel comfortable playing at third base for the Yankees at least until A-Rod returns. A trade to New York has only been speculated, and the two clubs are yet to talk on the matter.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 3/9, 12:53 PM CT
Bobby Crosby will start at third base today against the Angels in place of Eric Chavez, according to the Contra Costa Times. Chavez is sitting out after experiencing some discomfort in his right shoulder during an at-bat Sunday against Cleveland.

Our View: Crosby lost his starting gig at shortstop after the A's reeled in Orlando Cabrera, but the club would like Crosby to learn all four infield spots to serve as a utility man.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 3/8, 7:54 AM CT
Bobby Crosby is working at second base, according to the SF Chronicle. He said, "The perspective is different on everything, and on double plays, it is all backwards, everything is to the right. I is weird."

Our View: Crosby no longer has a starting role at shortstop following the acquisition of Orlando Cabrera, and Crosby is helping out at second with Mark Ellis still unable to play defense while recovering from shoulder surgery.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 3/7, 11:58 AM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Bobby Crosby put in some work at first base on Saturday.

Our View: After signing Orlando Cabrera, the A's are hoping to make Crosby in a utility infielder as opposed to just a shortstop. At first base and DH the A's boast Jason Giambi, Jack Cust, and Daric Barton. All three of those players are left handed and Crosby is a rightie.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 3/6, 8:08 AM CT
The SF Chronicle states that the Yankees may be interested in Bobby Crosby.

Our View: The Yankees would consider him for depth with Alex Rodriguez potentially on the shelf until May. The Astros may be interested as well.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 3/4, 12:20 PM CT
The Chicago Cubs may be interested in ousted shortstop Bobby Crosby, according to the SF Chronicle. A top scout for the Cubs, known to favor Crosby, was apparently intently watching Tuesday's exhibition with the A's.

Our View: Crosby has virtually no value as a backup in Oakland, but a move to the Cubs could be interesting. If he could supplant Ryan Theriot as the starting shortstop his power stroke could come alive in hitter friendly Wrigley Field. Still, it's not likely.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 3/3, 7:18 AM CT
Bobby Crosby hopes to be traded after the Athletics reeled in Orlando Cabrera to start at shortstop, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Crosby showed promise as the 2004 AL Rookie of the Year, but has been plagued by several injuries since then that set his career off track. As of now, he does not garner fantasy attention.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 3/2, 12:39 AM CT
Bobby Crosby went 1-for-3 on Sunday while fanning once.

Our View: Crosby had a terrible year in 2008, batting just .237 with seven homers and 61 RBI. He still has a lot of potential, but he's not worth the risk of drafting this year.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 2/25, 6:13 PM CT
Shortstop Bobby Crosby was 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Wednesday's 3-3 tie with the Brewers.

Our View: Crosby hit just seven home runs in 556 at-bats last season. He has worked hard on his hitting this wintr, and if he is still the starter come opening day (the team has offered a contract to Orlando Cabrera) he could be poised for a bounce back campaign. It would be hard to do any worse.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 1/23, 7:09 AM CT
Matt Holliday has been hitting with Bobby Crosby in Southern California, and the new member of the Athletics praised the shortstop, according to the SF Chronicle. Holliday said, "From what I've seen, it's a drastic difference. The ball is coming off his bat well. He looks great to me, I think it's helped him a lot and it looks like he's getting confidence. From the first day to now, he looks a lot different."

Our View: Crosby could bounce back with better numbers after suffering through a disappointing 2008 campaign, but still won't likely be productive enough to consider in anything but deeper AL-only leagues.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 12/19, 8:13 AM CT
Bobby Crosby has been placed on outright waivers by the Athletics, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Royals and Blue Jays are trying to improve at shortstop, but neither is likely to claim Crosby, whose .645 on-base/slugging percentage in 2008 was the third lowest in the MLB.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 11/22, 9:42 AM CT
With the A's reportedly interested in free agent shortstop Rafael Furcal, current shortstop Bobby Crosby might be on the way out. The Cardinals are a team that is said to be interested, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Cardinals have a hole at shortstop and Crosby is another name that has come to the table.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 11/14, 11:36 AM CT
The A's will make a run at signing free agent shortstop Rafael Furcal, and if they miss, GM Billy Beane may settle for Orlando Cabrera or Edgar Renteria. Regardless, it appears as though the A's no longer want to count on Bobby Crosby, the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com reports.

Our View: Crosby finally managed to stay mostly healthy in 2008, but he hit only .237 and showed no pop. The 2004 AL ROY simply hasn't developed as hoped, and five years of waiting seems like more than enough.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 9/20, 6:12 PM CT
Bobby Crosby went 2-for-5 with three runs scored in Saturday's 8-7 win over Seattle. Both of his hits were singles.

Our View: Crosby suffered through a disappointing season, but has now scored a run in four of his last five games.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 9/13, 5:47 PM CT
Bobby Crosby led Oakland in Saturday's 7-1 win over Texas, as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: That was his first multi-hit game of September, and reached at least three RBI in a game for the fifth time this season.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 9/10, 12:56 PM CT
Former AL Rookie of the Year Bobby Crosby will see his at-bats diminish the rest of the season for Oakland. The 2004 ROY winner has never approached his numbers from that season, and the A’s want to see more of rookie Cliff Pennington at shortstop.

Our View: Pennington is expected to start at short in Wednesday’s series finale against the Tigers.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 9/10, 11:51 AM CT
A's shortstop Bobby Crosby will see his playing time lessen as the teams wants to evaluate former first-round pick Cliff Pennington, according to OaklandAthletics.com.

Our View: Crosby is upset, but had he produced more, it is possible he would not be in this position. Crosby has an average of .245 with just seven home runs and 57 RBI. His OBP is right at .300. Pennington has minimal fantasy value, as he has hit .238 in 42 at-bats this season.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 8/4, 8:09 PM CT
Bobby Crosby went 2-for-3, and hit a home run to score the A's only run in the team's 6-1 loss to Toronto.

Our View: Crosby was hitting under .194 since July 1, so this little breakout should help fantasy owners who were lacking confidence in him.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 8/4, 7:10 AM CT
Bobby Crosby came out of Sunday's game in the eighth inning because he felt dizzy during his at-bat in the seventh and when he ran the bases, according to the SF Chronicle. He said he felt like he needed water while on second base but he didn't have the energy to run to the dugout to get some when the inning concluded.

Our View: Crosby was examined and he said he was feeling better after the game. He was believed to be dehydrated, and the doctor did not find any problems.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 7/30, 6:30 PM CT
Bobby Crosby had two hits and two RBI for the Athletics on Wednesday.

Our View: Over the last six games Crosby had only two hits so he certainly needed a big outing at the plate. Crosby is now four games away from his first 100 game season since 2004, but since a hot start to the year the injuries have started to mount which has led to a decline in performance (.200 in July).
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 7/18, 4:48 PM CT
Bobby Crosby has been activated from the DL after suffering from a left hamstring injury, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Crosby is having an average year, hitting .260 with four home runs and 38 RBI, and should probably be limited to AL-only fantasy leagues.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 7/14, 7:36 AM CT
The A's are optimistic that Bobby Crosby will be ready to be activated from the DL following the All-Star break, according to the SF Chronicle. He is recovering from a strained left hamstring.

Our View: Crosby has been a serviceable option in AL-only leagues, as he is hitting .260 over 84 games, with four homers, 38 RBI, 41 runs scored, and five stolen bases.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesThursday 7/10, 9:08 AM CT
Bobby Crosby worked out, taking batting practice and running on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The paper reports he will probably not go on a rehab assignment and could return a week from Friday.

Our View: Crosby isn't a fantasy option in mixed leagues, but in deep AL-only leagues, he has some value. He has shown power in the past, and if he can stay healthy, he could be a second-half sleeper.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 7/9, 7:31 AM CT
Bobby Crosby will begin hitting within the next day or two, according to the SF Chronicle. He is recovering from a strained left hamstring.

Our View: The club expects him to be ready to return for their first game following the All-Star break.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 7/5, 2:46 PM CT
The A's placed Bobby Crosby on the 15-day DL on Saturday due to a strained left hamstring, MLB.com confirms.

Our View: With the All-Star break coming up, Crosby may miss only nine more games before returning. Donnie Murphy and Gregorio Petit will need to step up their efforts at shortstop.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 7/5, 11:47 AM CT
Bobby Crosby is expected to go on the DL on Saturday due to a strained left hamstring, the Contra Costa Times reports.

Our View: It's a miracle that Crosby has lasted this long into the season without a DL stint. This injury sounds minor, and we hope Bobby can return after the All-Star break.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesThursday 7/3, 11:14 PM CT
Bobby Crosby missed his first game of the season, a 3-2 win over the White Sox, with a strained left hamstring. Crosby told reporters after the game "It's better today. It's a little sore but it's definitely better."

Our View: Crosby is considered day-to-day, but the shortstops relationship with the disabled list is legendary. Any injury is a concern when Crosby is involved.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 6/10, 8:36 AM CT
Bobby Crosby is listed as day-to-day due to an ankle injury sustained on Sunday, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He leads the team with 250 at-bats, and Crosby doesn't appear to be headed for the DL. He suffered the injury in the second inning on Sunday, but played six more innings before coming out.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 5/28, 12:12 AM CT
Oakland has picked up their 5th win in a row, taking down the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 despite a rather worrisome offensive performance. The man of the day was shortstop Bobby Crosby , going 1-for-4 on the day with one RBI and one stolen base (his fourth of the season) on the night.

Our View: Oakland managed just seven total hits, only one for extra bases.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 4/25, 2:16 PM CT
Bobby Crosby has fared well against Miguel Batista, tonight's opposing pitcher for Seattle, according to MLB.com. Crosby is 5-for-14 lifetime against the Mariners' righty.

Our View: Crosby is among the most productive members of the A's when he is healthy, and he should have another solid outing tonight. He is hitting .297 over 23 games, with 15 RBI and 15 runs scored.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 4/18, 11:51 PM CT
Bobby Crosby continued his healthy start to the 2008 season as he went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBI for the A's.

Our View: All Crosby needs to do to be productive is to stay healthy, but that has been something he has been unable to do since 2004, the last time he suited up in more than 96 games.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 4/15, 3:59 PM CT
Bobby Crosby has been performing well in the early going this season, but he had a tough day at the plate in a 4-1 loss to Chicago on Tuesday, as he went 0-for-4 with one strikeout, while leaving two men on base.

Our View: Crosby should bounce back fine.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 4/12, 9:30 PM CT
Bobby Crosby continued to hit the ball hard as he knocked his first home run of the season on Saturday on his way to three RBI against the Indians.

Our View: Despite all the great numbers, the most important one for Crosby in the early going is zero, as in the number of games he has missed due to injury.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 4/12, 12:59 PM CT
Bobby Crosby has reached base safely in all 11 games for Oakland this season, and looks to extend his streak today against hurler Fausto Carmona and the Indians, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is hitting .326 overall, but he will have to work hard to extend his streak, as Carmona is notably 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA so far.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 4/11, 10:19 PM CT
Bobby Crosby raised his batting average to .326 with three hits on Friday for the A's. Crosby has been unable to stay healthy for any length of time the past few years which has obviously stunted his growth. Still, if he can somehow manage to suit up for 130 games this season, he could end up being a great SS/MI play in AL Only leagues.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesThursday 4/10, 1:40 PM CT
Bobby Crosby is seeing the ball very well right now as he has gone seven games without striking out, which is the longest stretch in his career, according to MLB.com. Crosby has only struck out once overall, in 36 at-bats, and holds a solid .306 average. His fantasy stock will continue to rise.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 4/9, 9:46 PM CT
Bobby Crosby continues to swing a hot bat for the A’s and did his part in Oakland’s 6-3 win over Toronto this evening. Crosby went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs on the evening, failing to leave a single runner on base. Crosby now carries a seasonal batting average of .306 and has four doubles thus far.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 4/5, 10:03 AM CT
Bobby Crosby got work done in Oakland's 6-3 win over Cleveland, swinging the wood in what has been a strong start at the plate for the defensive gem. Crosby went 2-for-4 at the plate, posting a double with one RBI and two runs scored. Crosby now carries a batting average of .333, and while we expect that number to come down, the strong start is a great indication of the season ahead for the talented SS.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 3/30, 5:35 PM CT
Bobby Crosby ended spring training on a high note as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run against the Giants on Sunday. He only batted .245 but collected four homers and 10 RBI.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 3/26, 8:59 AM CT
By all accounts, Bobby Crosby made it through the game on Wednesday without suffering an injury. He even went 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Crosby has now made it through two straight games without being rushed to the trainer's room, but we have to worry if the fragile infielder will make it through the long airplane ride back to the States without tweaking a calf, thigh, forearm, or back muscle.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 3/25, 9:57 AM CT
Bobby Crosby is off to a favorable start as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Oakland's season opener against Boston. This is encouraging for him as he only hit .226 over 349 at-bats in 2007.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesThursday 3/6, 4:32 PM CT
Bobby Crosby, who returned to action on Wednesday from back spasms, also played on Thursday and reported no ill effects, this according to MLB.com. "I'm feeling good, really good; it felt great yesterday," Crosby said. "It was just a blip. Just back spasms, something that seems to happen once a year. It's a two-day thing." Crosby remains an extreme risk given his injury history, but he also remains a player capable of big things if he could stay healthy the entire season.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 3/4, 8:23 PM CT
Bobby Crosby missed his second straight game Tuesday due to back spasms, according to MLB.com. "It's something I've experience before, it seems like it's something that happens to me once a year at some point," Crosby said prior to Tuesday's game. "It happened to me last year during Spring Training when I dove for a ball. Hopefully this is the extent of it this year." So long as he returns to action on Tuesday, as is expected, this minor malady should't have any effect on his fantasy value.
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 3/4, 7:57 AM CT
Bobby Crosby was scratched from Monday's game after experiencing back spasms during infield drills, this according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The injury is not believed to be serious according to manager Bob Geren who said "it's not a big deal." Crosby is considered day-to-day.

Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesMonday 4/9, 11:47 PM CT
Bobby Crosby made his second straight start Monday, the AP reports. He left Friday's game against the Angels with back spasms and then was scratched Saturday. "I'm feeling great," Crosby said. "That's the main thing. Everything is coming along slowly with the bat and defense, but the more reps I get, it will get better and better."
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 4/8, 9:17 AM CT
Bobby Crosby hopes to be back in the lineup today, but in the worst-case scenario he should be back on Monday, according to the Mercury News. Crosby had to leave Friday's game after five innings because of back spasms.

Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesFriday 4/6, 4:48 PM CT

Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 4/4, 9:55 AM CT
Bobby Crosby will probably get a day or two off each week during the first month of the season, the Athletics official site reports. Crosby is returning from a back injury and the team doesn't want to ask him to do too much too soon. "It could be after a long travel day, a day game after a night game, or [it might be determined by] just how he feels," manager Bob Geren said. "I speak to him every day about how he's doing."
Bobby Crosby, 3B, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 3/24, 7:51 AM CT
