Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 2/15, 12:34 PM CT
The Nationals have signed Willy Taveras to a one-year, $4 million deal, according to SI.com.

Our View: Taveras hit .240 with 25 steals for the Reds last year before being traded to Oakland this offseason and getting released by the A's soon after. It's unclear exactly what Taveras' role will be in Washington, especially with similar speedy outfielders already in uniform such as Nyjer Morgan and Willie Harris. Look for Taveras to compete for a roster spot, though his elite speed will certainly help.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 2/11, 7:27 PM CT
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Astros have offered Willy Taveras a minor league contract.

Our View: Taveras was DFAed by the A's on Tuesday and the Astros immediately expressed interest, so we're not shocked in the least that they offered him a deal. The 28-year-old speedster performed too poorly last year (with a 240/.275/.285 line) to get a starting job, but could be a decent fourth outfielder for the 'Stros. His speed and defensive ability could be utilized in a multitude of ways.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 2/9, 11:26 PM CT
According to Jerry Crasnick on Twitter, the Astros are open to the idea of bringing Willy Taveras back to Houston on a minor league deal if he clears waivers.

Our View: Taveras was released by the A's earlier today after they traded for him from the Reds last week. The speedster and solid defender doesn't have enough of a bat to start, but could be a solid fourth or reserve outfielder for several teams.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 2/9, 1:17 PM CT
Willy Taveras has been released by Oakland, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The A's traded for Taveras last week, but it turned out that he was only included in their deal with the Reds as a salary dump that had to be included for the Reds to be willing to give up Adam Rosales. Taveras still has elite speed and should find interest somewhere.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 2/1, 1:00 PM CT
Willy Taveras, who was acquired by Oakland in a trade earlier today, has been designated for assignment, according to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman.

Our View: It looks like the A's made the trade earlier solely to land Adam Rosales, but likely were forced by the Reds to take on Taveras' contract if they wanted Rosales' services. Tavares still possesses elite speed but has proven to be far too inadequate at the plate to be relied upon in anything more than a utility role.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 2/1, 11:55 AM CT
Willy Taveras, along with Adam Rosales, has been traded to Oakland for Aaron Miles and either a player to be named or cash, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Taveras will always muster up a bit of interest from fantasy owners due to his elite speed, but he struggled to hold down a starting gig in Cincinnati last year (both due to health and effectiveness) and doesn't find himself in the best situation in Oakland. Ryan Sweeney and Rajai Davis have two of the spots locked down, while Oakland also just signed Gabe Gross to a one-year deal. Look for Taveras to compete with Gross for the final starting spot, although the A's also have the option of starting Jack Cust in the outfield if Jake Fox is slotted at designated hitter, making this situation even more unclear.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 9/22, 1:07 PM CT
Willy Taveras has been activated off the DL by the Reds, according to the team's Twitter page. Taveras has been out since August 19 with a strained right quad.

Our View: Taveras has been running the bases and doing baseball activity for a week or so, and the team feels he is healthy enough to finish out the season. He shouldn't be much of a fantasy concern for anyone unless you are absolutely desperate for stolen bases and there are no other options out there.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 9/14, 2:46 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Reds' outfielder Willy Taveras has started running the bases. There is a good chance that Taveras will be activated by the team sometime in the next week.

Our View: The Reds could use Taveras back at the top of the lineup, as they are trying to finish out their disappointing season on a high note. Any time you can get a guy with speed like Taveras has back in the lineup, it is an upgrade.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 8/19, 2:48 PM CT
Willy Taveras has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.

Our View: Drew Stubbs has been called up to take his spot on the roster. Taveras has 25 steals this season, but is batting just .238, and shouldn't be missed too much in most leagues, especially since his injury is a leg injury, which could make it harder for him to run at 100 percent when he returns.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 8/18, 9:04 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that Willy Taveras exited Tuesday's game against the Giants with a strained quad.

Our View: Taveras left the game in the seventh after running out a grounder to first, and is considered day-to-day. Laynce Nix replaced him in the lineup.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 8/14, 9:38 PM CT
Willy Taveras, 2-for-4, was the only Red with multiple hits on Friday night, as Garrett Mock and the Nationals silenced Cincinnati 2-0 at home.

Our View: Even with his 24 steals, it's hard to justify owning Taveras because of his woeful .239 batting average. If you need steals, fine. If not, stay away.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 7/30, 10:47 AM CT
Willy Taveras has been scratched from today's game against the Padres with a sore wrist, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.

Our View: Alex Gonazlez is taking his place in the lineup, though likely not his position. No word on how long Taveras might be out.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 7/24, 4:55 PM CT
Willy Taveras was productive in Friday's 8-5 loss at Chicago, as he went 2-for-5 with two singles and two RBI.

Our View: Taveras has two hits in three of his last six games, with two stolen bases and three runs scored over the span. He is hitting better this month, after struggling through June with a dismal .167 batting average.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 7/18, 11:30 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles in tonight's 5-1 loss to the Brewers at the Great American Ballpark.

Our View: Taveras has a hit in five straight games, and is hitting .291 so far this month after only batting .167 in June.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 7/12, 3:59 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 3-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base on Sunday in the Reds' 9-7 loss to the Mets. Taveras is now hitting .245 on the year.

Our View: Taveras can be a pretty solid player when he puts it all together, but he is inconsistent for the most part. If he could be more consistent, he could be an excellent fantasy option, but even now he is a decent option for steals in NL-only leagues.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 7/4, 4:37 PM CT
Willy Taveras was 3-for-5 with a steal on the Fourth of July, as the Reds beat the Cardinals 5-2.

Our View: Taveras is among the National League league leaders in steals, with 16, but is still hitting just .244 and not worth a roster spot unless you are absolutely desperate for steals.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/17, 9:53 AM CT
Willy Taveras broke an 0-for-32 hitless streak with his first inning single on Tuesday according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Taveras is now batting just .228 on the season and retains no value outside of his steals. He should only be on your team if you are desperate for speed.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 6/9, 5:20 PM CT
Willy Taveras indicated that he is nearly fully recovered from his hamstring injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Chris Dickerson has been performing well in center field as of late, but Taveras will likely push him back to a reserve role at some point this week.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 6/7, 7:40 PM CT
Willy Taveras finally got into a game on Sunday after missing time with a hamstring injury.

Our View: Taveras, who had been out since Wednesday, came into the game as a pinch hitter but stayed in after that and played center field. Feel free to get him back into your lineup from here on out.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 6/4, 9:31 AM CT
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Reds hope to have outfielder Willy Taveras available for their weekend series against the Cubs. Taveras has been out with a sore right hamstring.

Our View: Taveras was available to pinch hit last night, but the Reds seems to be playing this one pretty carefully. The hamstring isn't improving much, but expect him to return to the lineup at some point this weekend. The Reds have been decimated by injury, and they will need Taveras to be healthy going forward.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/3, 8:28 PM CT
MLB.com reports that centerfielder Willy Taveras was held out of Wednesday's lineup due to a sore hamstring. He's available to pinch-hit and is expected to test the injury again this weekend when the Reds take on the Cubs.

Our View: Taveras is hitting .260 with 12 steals and a .318 OBP. As a leadoff man, the OBP is nearly unacceptable. If he could raise it around 50 points, he could make a significant impact in fantasy leagues due to his ability to steal bases.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 5/26, 5:25 PM CT
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Willy Taveras is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game with a routine day off.

Our View: Nothing to worry about here. The Reds have a tough stretch coming up this weekend and want Taveras to be rested. The fact that Roy Oswalt is on the mound likely helped make up Dusty Baker's mind. Chris Dickerson will start in Taveras's place.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 5/11, 11:46 PM CT
Willy Taveras had a huge game on Monday, going 5-for-5 with two RBI, four runs and a stolen base, his eighth of the year.

Our View: Production on the base paths was expected from Taveras, but certainly not the 12-game hit streak he currently has going. As long as Taveras keeps getting on base he'll continue to swipe bags, so keep him active among your starting outfielders while he's hot.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 4/29, 9:08 PM CT
Willy Taveras was 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Astros.

Our View: Taveras continues to leadoff for the Reds and he is up to five stolen bases. His average is currently at .262 and he should be an excellent source of stolen bases throughout the season.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 4/12, 4:09 PM CT
Willy Taveras stared in center field and hit leadoff in the Reds 2-0 win over the Pirates on Sunday. He went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and a scarifice. He also stole his first base of the season.

Our View: Taveras should pick 50 or so more stolen bases as long as he is healthy. He is now hitting .364 and is not in danger of losing his leadoff duties.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 4/8, 3:16 PM CT
Willy Taveras is out of Wednesday's lineup, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: The reason was not disclosed, but he is likely still dealing with the flu. Jerry Hairston Jr. is starting in his place and batting leadoff against the Mets. Taveras is yet to make his regular season debut with Cincinnati.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 3/4, 4:22 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 3-for-3 Wednesday for a Dominican Republic team that seemed to be desperately missing Alex Rodriguez as they fell 6-1 to the Orioles.

Our View: Don't let the perfect day fool you. Fast Willy is valuable in basically one category. Still, he has obvious value because of that one talent and because he appears likely to be given a full season of starts if healthy.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 2/28, 10:14 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 0-for-3 with a strikeout on Saturday against Boston.

Our View: Taveras had some odd statistics last year, including 68 stolen bases compared to just 64 runs scored. He has value as a base stealer, but that's about it as he only hit .251 with one home run and 26 RBI in 2008.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 1/23, 10:10 AM CT
Manager Dusty Baker stated that Willy Taveras will bat leadoff for the Reds, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Baker said, "His role is he's our center fielder and our leadoff man. The fact that he's so young, he's going to get better. A lot of people talk about his on-base percentage. I like to think in terms of him getting into scoring position."

Our View: Taveras only held a .308 OBP last season, but still managed to swipe 68 bases, which led the majors.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 12/31, 6:59 AM CT
It has been disclosed that Willy Taveras signed a two-year deal with the Reds worth $6.25 million, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He is expected to roam in center field and bat leadoff in the Reds' lineup, and be the main source for steals as he swiped 68 bases with Colorado in 2008.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 12/27, 11:58 AM CT
The Cincinnati Reds have signed center fielder Willy Taveras to a two-year contract, according to Reds.com.

Our View: Taveras will hit leadoff and roam center for Cincinnati. Barring other moves, he'll be the starter and will offer fantasy owners his usual bounty of steals.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 12/20, 9:43 AM CT
The Reds remain interested in Willy Taveras, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: The Reds covet a right-handed outfielder, and have narrowed their target list down to Jerry Hairston, Rocco Baldelli, and Taveras. The club had some interest in Juan Rivera prior to him re-signing with the Angels. The Reds are believed to have an offer out on Taveras, and view him as a candidate for the leadoff spot in the batting order.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 12/15, 8:38 AM CT
The White Sox reportedly still have Willy Taveras on their radar, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Nationals and Reds also remain interested in the speedy base thief.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 12/13, 1:09 PM CT
The Cincinnati Reds could be interested in Willy Taveras, according to MLB.com. "Wigginton if we don't find the outfielder we want. Taveras could be the center fielder-type guy," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said.

Our View: Taveras will always be on fantasy radars due to his stolen base potential. He had 68 last year, and just needs enough ABs to contribute and fantasy owners will utilize him.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 12/12, 10:57 PM CT
Willy Taveras was non-tendered by the Rockies on Friday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Taveras' only fantasy value last season was his 68 stolen bases, as he batted just .251 with one home run and 26 RBI. He would have a lot more value if he could get on base more often, posting just a .308 on-base-percentage in 2008.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 12/12, 10:58 AM CT
The Rockies are unlikely to tender Willy Taveras a 2009 contract prior to tonight's deadline, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: The speedy base thief will become a free agent if the Rockies don't change their mind. Taveras became expendable with Carlos Gonzalez, Dexter Fowler and Ryan Spilborghs all in the mix for the job in center field.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 12/10, 11:49 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that the Rockies’ trade for starter Tim Redding for outfielder Willy Taveras remained on life support Wednesday night. A potential deal died late Tuesday over apparent concerns about Taveras’ left leg stress fracture. However, a Natonals’ source said that the bigger issue was a medical issue with a pitcher Washington was to receive as part of the deal.

Our View: That leaves the lingering possibility that something could get done Thursday following the Rule 5 draft. Taveras had 68 stolen bases last season.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 12/8, 8:55 AM CT
The Nationals covet a center fielder but are not sold on Willy Taveras as was previously speculated, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: Taveras only hit .251 in 2008, and bats right handed, just like the top four outfielders on the Nationals' roster.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 12/7, 3:31 PM CT
The Washington Nationals are showing interest in Rockies outfielder Willy Taveras, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View: Taveras is known to be on the block, and no matter where he winds up, if he gets at-bats, he'll provide fantasy owners with steals.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 11/26, 12:07 PM CT
The White Sox are interested in outfielder Willy Taveras, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He would add speed to the White Sox, in the outfield and on the basepaths, and would pretty much provide what the club didn't get out of the disappointing Nick Swisher last season.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 11/11, 2:01 PM CT
The Reds are interested in Rockies' outfielder Willy Taveras, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The Reds are also interested in Garrett Atkins and Yorvit Torrealba.

Our View: The source did not mention what the Reds may be willing to give up to acquire any of the Rockies' players. They are believed to be the most interested in speedy base stealer Taveras.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 11/3, 10:55 AM CT
As expected, Willy Taveras is on the Rockies' trading block, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The speedy base stealer has already garnered interest from the White Sox, Nationals and Yankees, who have pitcher Ian Kennedy as a trading chip.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 9/24, 7:58 PM CT
Center fielder Willy Taveras will not play again this season after being diagnosed with a fractured tibia in his lower right leg, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Taveras had a rough year at the plate for the Rockies and all indications are that he has seen his last action as a Rockie.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 9/11, 7:36 PM CT
Willy Taveras will return to his previous spot in atop the batting order on Thursday, according to MLB.com. Taveras has batted out of the second hole in his last 17 games.

Our View: Taveras has posted an awful .295 OBP in 356 AB in the leadoff spot, and though his OBP is better in his time in the second spot, it is still a poor .318. Taveras is arbitration eligible this off-season and will likely be moved so that Dexter Fowler and/or Ryan Spilbroghs can pick up the at-bats.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 9/1, 9:18 PM CT
Willy Taveras stole three bases on Monday to up his career best total to 65 on the year. He also scored two runs in the Rockies victory over the Giants.

Our View: This guy has been simply running wild of late with 22 stolen bases in his last 39 games as he continues to do his best impersonation of Juan Pierre, minus about .035 points in batting average (.260).
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 8/31, 10:34 AM CT
Colorado outfielder Willy Taveras is not interested in going to another team, even though he was claimed off waivers recently, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Taveras would add speed to any team he goes to, but he would likely go to a contender who needs that speed off the bench, so his fantasy value would take a hit.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 8/26, 4:33 PM CT
The Rockies have placed Willy Taveras on waivers, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The Rockies will have 48 hours to work out a trade with the claiming team or teams.

Our View: Taveras is hitting the ball much better of late and leads the majors in steals by 20. He had been likely to be dealt in the offseason, but perhaps the Rox will be able to move him to a contender now.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 8/21, 1:55 PM CT
Willy Taveras could be traded in the off-season, according to the Denver Post. A move to Washington is believed to be a top possibility.

Our View: The team has Olympic outfielder Dexter Fowler in the minors, and Ryan Spilborghs for depth. Taveras could roam center field in Washington next season if Lastings Milledge gets moved.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 8/18, 10:31 AM CT
Willy Taveras extended his five game hitting streak on Sunday with a 3-4 performance. More important for most of his owners, he also stole a base for the fifth straight game.

Our View: Taveras has become the Juan Pierre of past seasons, and with a crowed outfield in LA, Taveras is more reliable. The Roks speedster has now stolen double digit bases each month this season, save May when he registered nine.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 8/15, 9:48 PM CT
Willy Taveras didn't start Friday, but he came into the game as a pinch hitter and picked up two hits and two steals in the Rockies' win.

Our View: Taveras has a league-high 55 thefts on the year, which has allowed him to be a fantasy asset despite his .257 batting average.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 8/14, 4:58 PM CT
Rockies outfielder Willy Taveras continues to add to his career-high stolen base total as he picked up another, his 53rd, in his team's loss to Arizona.

Our View: Taveras won't give your fantasy team much in the way of batting average. Or on-base percentage. Or home runs. Or RBI. But the stolen bases? That he's got down.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 8/1, 9:47 PM CT
Willy Taveras swiped two bags on Friday night to reach 50 for the first time in his four year career.

Our View: Taveras may only be hitting .257 with but one home run and 21 RBI, but those steals give him huge value in fantasy leagues. His favorite movie might be Forrest Gump, remember "...run Forrest, run."
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 7/25, 10:29 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 3-for-4 and stole three bases in Colorado's 7-2 win over the Reds.

Our View: Taveras now has 45 stolen bases on the season, and though he provides nothing else, he is worth a spot on fantasy teams that need steals.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsTuesday 7/22, 10:54 PM CT
Willy Taveras picked up his 42nd steal on Tuesday. He was 2-for-5 on the night with a run scored.

Our View: He's only hitting .244 but his steals make him well a roto-league must.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 7/18, 10:44 PM CT
The Colorado Rockies were concerned over the All-Star break that they might have to put Willy Taveras on the disabled list due to a sore quad, but he came back healthy on Friday and wound up stealing two bases on the night. Taveras went 1-for-3 with a walk for the game.

Our View: Taveras has now stolen 41 bases on the year and fantasy owners needing steals should use him, but with the understanding that he brings little else to the table.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 7/16, 7:41 PM CT
Speedster Willy Taveras could wind up on the disabled list due to a sore quadriceps muscle, according to the Associated Press. “Hopefully, he will be 100 percent (when the season resumes on Thursday) or we will have to think things through,” manager Clint Hurdle said.

Our View: Taveras missed the teams final two games before the break, and since his game is built on speed, he certainly represents little of value if he cannot run. Scott Podsednik could pick up some AB if Taveras is placed on the DL, especially with Ryan Spilborghs already on the DL due to a left oblique strain.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 7/13, 11:01 AM CT
Willy Taveras was held out of Saturday's game, as his left quadriceps is still not completely healed, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: For a player whose game is built on speed, Taveras can't afford to have an injury to his legs. He does not hold much fantasy value unless his legs are 100%, because he won't add anything else to your team.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 7/7, 8:22 PM CT
Willy Taveras was back in the starting lineup for Monday night's series opener against the Brewers after missing the last few games to a quad injury.

Our View: The sore left quadriceps muscle wasn't considered serious but it kept the Roks center fielder out of action for longer than expected. Taveras struck out leading off the first inning and flied out to right field in his second at bat.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 7/2, 7:55 PM CT
Willy Taveras was held out of tonight's starting lineup against the Padres due to a sore left quad, according to MLB.com. Taveras did not guarantee he will return Thursday, and said, "We'll see. I'm going to ride the exercise bike today, get some treatment, but I'm not going to push it. I want to take care of this, so it doesn't get worse."

Our View: Ryan Spilborghs replaced Taveras in the lineup. Taveras holds his most value with 38-steals, but his speed is being compromised due to the leg ailment.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 6/20, 9:21 AM CT
Willy Taveras has 32 stolen bases in only 63 games, which is one shy of his production for the entire 2007 season, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: He has only played in 170 games with Colorado, but already ranks fifth on their career list with 65 steals.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsThursday 6/19, 11:56 PM CT
Willy Taveras went 3-for-5 and stole his 32nd base in Thursday's 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Our View: Taveras registered a bunt single, a swinging bunt single and a Texas Leaguer in the Roks win. Considering what he did on Thursday night is it any surprise his slugging percentage is .304 on the season?
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 6/14, 10:59 PM CT
The game wasn't terribly offensive, but outfielder Willy Taveras kept it entertaining on the base paths as the Rockies took the 2-0 win over Chicago. Taveras went 2-for-4 with a double, but he also added a whopping five stolen bases on the night.

Our View: Taveras now touts 29 stolen bags on the season, but his five in one game is not a record, coming one shy of the effort put forth in 1996 by Eric Young (stealing six versus the Dodgers).
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/11, 11:18 PM CT
Willy Taveras had just as single hit but he also stole his 24th base of the season for the Rockies on Wednesday night.

Our View: Taveras is likely to start losing some playing time to Ryan Spilborghs as he has only brought steals to the table this season with an average of .234, and even worse, an OBP below .290. A leadoff man simply needs to get on base more than that no matter how fast he is, just ask Michael Bourn.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/11, 9:06 AM CT
The Denver Post reports that Ryan Spilborghs has recovered from back spasms and will likely see the majority of at-bats for the Rockies in center field, meaning Willy Taveras will see fewer starts.

Our View: This is not good news for Taveras. The speedster will be used more so as a defensive replacement and pinch-runner, though he should still see a few starts per week.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 5/26, 6:41 PM CT
Willy Taveras started in center field for the Rockies on Monday night, the first game of a three-game series in Philadelphia. The Rockies outfielder missed the last two starts with a bruised knee.

Our View: Taveras is just one of the many injured Colorado players.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 5/26, 8:45 AM CT
Willy Taveras said he could be ready to play tonight against the Phillies, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He missed his second consecutive game because of a bruised right knee. Taveras is only hitting .235, but is still making a decent fantasy impact as he has 24 runs scored and 19 stolen bases.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 5/24, 12:07 AM CT
Willy Taveras had to leave Friday's game after suffering a bruised knee when he ran into the outfield wall. Scott Podsednik replaced him in the lineup.

Our View: Taveras initially stayed in the game but was eventually removed. That would lead you to believe the injury isn't too serious, but we'll update you on the situation when we know more.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 5/18, 5:37 PM CT
Willy Taveras didn't have a hit on Sunday, but he still managed to steal two bases and score a run for the Rockies.

Our View: Taveras is hitting only .234 with 18 SB, and the truth is that his barely .300 OBP means that the Rockies would actually be better served going with Scott Podsednik who is hitting .283 with a .387 OBP and six steals in just 53 AB.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 5/11, 12:23 AM CT
The Rockies suffered the tough 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres with few notes of worth, though CF Willy Taveras went 1-for-4 with the lone extra-base hit of the night for the Rockies.

Our View: Taveras picked up his seventh double of the season, adding one RBI and one run scored to the stat line.
Willy Taveras, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 4/30, 7:26 PM CT
The Rockies may have suffered the loss, 3-2, at the hands of the San Francisco Giants today, but leadoff man CF Willy Taveras enjoyed a strong day of individual success fantasy owners are sure to praise. Taveras went 1-for-3 at the plate with two walks and a whopping three stolen bases.

Willy Taveras had a hit, an RBI and stole three bases on Monday for the Rockies. Taveras seems a great bet to at least steal 40 bags for the first time this season if he can stay healthy as he attempts to take over the fantasy role once held by Juan Pierre, that of being the top outfielder who's value is tied almost exclusively to his legs.
