Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 2/9, 1:12 PM CT
Baltimore has officially announced it's one-year contract with Mark Hendrickson, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The deal includes a 2011 club option. Hendrickson is the only major league pitcher to make at least 10 starts and five relief appearances in each of the last four seasons, though there's not really any value in that statement. There's no need to give him any fantasy attention.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 1/29, 11:44 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson passed his physical with the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun. His one-year deal with the Orioles (worth $1.2MM) is not expected to be made official until Monday.

Our View: The 35-year-old vet will provide depth to Baltimore's bullpen, and could also be used a spot-starter in the rotation if needed. His fantasy value remains limited.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 1/28, 8:38 AM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles have signed pitcher Mark Hendrickson to a one-year, $1.2 million deal. The deal also includes a $1.2 million option for 2011.

Our View: After long struggling as a starter, Hendrickson found moderate success out of Baltimore's bullpen a season ago, posting a 3.44 ERA in 55 relief innings.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 10/3, 8:55 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson earned his sixth win of the season on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He fanned three in the 6-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Our View: Hendrickson moved back into the rotation on September 17th and after a rocky first outing, he's recorded three quality starts in a row.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/28, 9:44 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson gave up three earned runs on three hits over six innings in Monday's 7-6 loss at Tampa Bay. He had one walk with three strikeouts, and was tagged for three homers.

Our View: The Orioles were leading 6-3 when Hendrickson exited, so he was handed a no-decision. Hendrickson is winless over his three starts this month.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/22, 9:52 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed two earned runs on four hits over six innings in Tuesday's 6-5 loss at Toronto. He had two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Hendrickson had a good night on the mound, and was handed a no-decision instead of a loss as Baltimore was leading 4-2 when he exited. He allowed two earned runs in each of his last two starts.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/17, 9:06 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson was no match for rookie Wade Davis and the Rays on Thursday night. The lanky lefty allowed two runs in just 3.1 innings, as Davis and the Rays shutout the Orioles 3-0 in Baltimore.

Our View: Hendrickson was making just his eighth start of the season after mostly pitching as a reliever in 2009. It is in relief that he will also surely pitch in 2010.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/14, 4:46 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson will replace rookie Brian Matusz in the Orioles' rotation, according to the Associated Press. The club is shutting down Matusz to prevent him from overextending his arm.

Our View: Hendrickson is 1-4 with a 6.35 ERA over seven starts with Baltimore this season. The lefty started the year in their rotation.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 8/20, 3:49 PM CT
According to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark, Mark Hendrickson has cleared waivers and can now be traded to any team.

Our View: It was thought that the Orioles were hanging on to Hendrickson, but that's apparently not the case. The Rockies were interested in the veteran lefty, but have backed off due to interest in the emerging Billy Wagner sweepstakes. Someone will come calling on the crafty southpaw though.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/31, 9:07 AM CT
According to FOXSports.com, the Orioles intend to hang on to lefty reliever Mark Hendrickson.

Our View: The Rockies were going after Hendrickson hard, but after the O's shipped George Sherrill to the Dodgers on Thursday they didn't want to part with another veteran lefty. This season the southpaw is 4-0 with a 3.28 ERA.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/30, 8:19 AM CT
The Rockies are highly interested in reliever Mark Hendrickson, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The converted starter has posted a 2.94 ERA in 23 appearances since moving to the bullpen on May 15. Look for the Orioles to get whatever they can for their scrap heap pitcher.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/1, 11:52 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson picked up another loss on Friday as the Orioles fell to the Blue Jays 8-4. Hendrickson went five innings and allowed four runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Hendrickson continued his struggles in 2009 as he fell to 1-4 on the season. He has no value in any fantasy leagues unless you want to take a chance on him in AL-only leagues.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/20, 1:49 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed three runs in five innings while picking up the loss in Baltimore's 12-1 defeat on Monday. Hendrickson walked three and struck out six, but he got little support from his offense or his bullpen.

Our View: Hendrickson pitched pretty well for Baltimore today, striking out six in just five innings. He gave up a homer to Jason Varitek in the second, but overall not a bad outing for the big lefty. He is now 1-2 on the season, and is not much of a fantasy option except in deep AL-only leagues.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/10, 9:48 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed just one run on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings on Friday and the Orioles clipped the Rays 5-4.

Our View: No one was expecting Hendrickson to do this. Holding the AL Champion Rays to one run and earning the win are big accomplishments for the fifth starter in pitching-starved Baltimore's rotation. And for a guy who owns a career 5.07 ERA.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/2, 3:15 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson has been named the fifth starter in the Orioles' rotation, according to MASN Sports.

Our View: Hendrickson got the nod with Rich Hill ailing. The 34-year-old vet holds a career 5.07 ERA in the majors, and should be left for deeper AL-only leagues.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/16, 2:56 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed two earned runs on five hits over three innings in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Twins, with no walks and no strikeouts. Most of the damage came on a two-run homer by Joe Crede.

Our View: Hendrickson failed to impress today, but should still hold a spot in the Orioles' rotation, especially with Radhames Liz being moved to the pen.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/4, 11:35 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson was scratched from Wednesday's start due to a sore back, according to the Baltimore Sun. No additional pitchers were added to the roster to replace him.

Our View: Hendrickson should be fine after a few days of rest. The former Marlin is a favorite to make the Orioles' rotation, and could have value in deeper AL-only leagues.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 12/29, 8:14 AM CT
The Baltimore Sun confirms that the Orioles have reached a deal with hurler Mark Hendrickson. As previously stated, terms of the deal are unknown and is pending a physical.

Our View: He will add favorable pitching depth to the Orioles, which is a major area of need. With that said, the club still wants to add another starter.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 12/28, 9:34 PM CT
MASNSports.com reports that the Orioles have inked Mark Hendrickson pending a physical.

Our View: Hendrickson has never been more than serviceable. He was 7-8 through 133.2 innings with the Marlins last season. He finished the year with a 5.45 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. Don't expect a significant jump in numbers in Camden Yards.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 12/22, 8:12 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson is drawing interest from the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Hendrickson was 7-8 last season in 19 starts for the Marlins. He was moved to the bullpen later in the year due to struggle in June and July.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/1, 9:54 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson was lit up for six earned runs on 10 hits over six innings in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Nationals, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Hendrickson is now 7-7 with a 6.12 ERA. He has allowed 11 earned runs over his last two starts, and is 0-5 over his last seven.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/26, 2:17 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson was rocked for five earned runs on five hits over 4.2 innings in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the upstart Rays, with five walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: He falls to 7-6 for the season, with a 5.93 ERA, and he has not won a decision over his last six starts.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 6/14, 8:40 PM CT
Florida LHP Mark Hendrickson found a bit of struggle in tonight's start against Tampa Bay, but that bit of struggle was enough for the loss, falling 4-1 to the Rays. Hendrickson pitched five innings to surrender three runs (all earned) on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: The loss brings Hendrickson to 7-5 on the season and serves as his third in his last four outings (taking a no-decision in between).
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 6/4, 3:37 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Braves, with two walks and two strikeouts. He ended the day with a no decision.

Our View: He is still a solid 7-3 for the season, but his ERA climbed a little bit higher to an unfavorable 5.33. He has now allowed at least four runs in each of his last three starts, with 10 surrendered against the Phillies on May 30.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/25, 4:50 PM CT
Florida LHP Mark Hendrickson earned his seventh win of the season today, helping his Marlins to an 8-6 victory in the first of two games these teams will play today. Hendrickson pitched just five innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on nine hits, allowing two walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Clearly the Giants were hitting the lefty around the yard, but the Marlins put forth a strong level of offensive support and helped Hendrickson to his second consecutive win.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/20, 10:17 PM CT
Florida LHP Mark Hendrickson got the win, his sixth of the season, and reliever Kevin Gregg got the save, his eighth of the season, as the Marlins took a dramatic 3-2 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hendrickson went five inning, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Solid middle relief brought on Gregg, going 1 2/3 innings without allowing a single hit with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: The first four starts of May have not been kind to Hendrickson, going 1-1 over three starts with eight walks versus seven strikeouts. Now he may be back on track and ready to contribute to a strong Florida season.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/13, 9:36 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson suffered his second loss of the season as he allowed eight hits, five walks, and four runs in five innings to the Reds.

Our View: Don't fool yourself here. Hendrickson belongs nowhere near a starting lineup in most mixed leagues as he just doesn't strike anyone out because of his soft stuff, which can lead to ratio warping efforts like tonight.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/8, 10:18 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson needed 109 pitches to get just 13 outs Thursday night, but he allowed only one run to keep his team in the game, though he wasn't involved in the decision.

Our View: Hendrickson still has great ratios with a 3.56 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, but he is striking out fewer than four batters per nine innings and allowing almost a hit an inning. Don't count on this level of production to continue.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/2, 10:36 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson allowed three runs on five hits in a 6-4 win over San Diego. The win helped the Fish end a three-game losing streak. The Marlins left-hander walked one and struck out two in seven solid innings of work.

Our View: Surprisingly, Hendrickson is now 5-1 on the season with a 3.68 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/21, 9:31 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson improved to 4-1 on Monday night thanks to eight strong innings in which he allowed just three earned runs against the Pirates.

Our View: Hendrickson is still a pitcher who owns a ERA above 4.90 with a WHIP of almost 1.50 in his career, so while he is going well right now, there is no reason to expect him to continue this level of success since his K/9 (4.11) rate is far too low and his K/BB is awful (1.40).
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/10, 9:43 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson pitched seven strong innings helping Florida beat Washington 4-3 on Thursday night. Hendrickson gave up one run and three hits, striking out two, while matching his longest outing since going eight innings June 25, 2006, for Tampa Bay. He didn't have any walks, after totaling six in his first two starts this season. Hendrickson singled leading off the seventh inning - matching his hit total for all of 2007, when he was 1-for-27 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/5, 9:53 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson evened his record at 1-1 by limiting the Pirates to just one earned runs over 5.1 innings. Hendrickson is a below .500 pitcher in his career (44-56) and with a 5.05 ERA and 1.35 WHIP he is nothing more than an average major league hurler. You might consider using him in NL Only leagues but even then it might be a bumpy ride.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/31, 9:46 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson took the loss in the Marlins home opener to the Mets. The left-hander tossed five innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out two. Hendrickson, a two start pitcher in Week 1, didn't offer his ownership much in his initial outing.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/27, 9:38 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson has been announced as the Marlins opening day starter, this according to the Palm Beach Post. The left-hander will get Monday's start versus the Mets as opposed to the young Andrew Miller, who will take the mound for the second game of the series. Hendrickson, who worked a minor league game on Wednesday allowed two runs on three hits in five innings.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/18, 7:35 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson worked six scoreless innings on Tuesday, limiting the Dodgers to three hits and a walk, while striking out two. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said earlier in the day that he wasn't prepared to announce his opening day starter, but Hendrickson may have made the decision for Gonzalez with his performance today.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/18, 3:51 PM CT
Fish manager Fredi Gonzalez said early Tuesday, a day after he said he would reveal his starter for the Marlins' March 31 game against the Mets. ``Right now it's not a good time," according to the Miami Herald. ``We'll announce it later on -- later on today, later on tomorrow, later on in the spring. Before opening day, though, it will be announced,'' said Gonzalez. Mark Hendrickson, the 6-9 left-hander formerly of the NBA, was slated to start Tuesday, but Gonzalez said he wasn't waiting for the outing. Gonzalez also said pitchers Ricky Nolasco and Scott Olsen would pitch Thursday, one after another, but they're performance also wasn't a factor. Gonzalez didn't say but the obvious candidates for the first game are Hendrickson (2.70 ERA in three starts), and Andrew Miller, the prized pitching prospect acquired from the Detroit Tigers (1-0 with a 4.24 earned-run average in five appearances). The thought is that Hendrickson will get the start relieving the team of putting any undue pressure on the younger Miller.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/13, 9:20 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson had a strong outing on Thursday as he allowed one run on three hits over five innings, with an impressive six strikeouts and no walks. He is expected to start in the Marlins' rotation this season and a performance like this will keep him on our radar.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 2/17, 2:50 PM CT
The Marlins appear to have four starting pitchers already set, including Mark Hendrickson, MLB.com reports. We're surprised their not making Hendrickson prove himself a little more before earning a spot in the rotation, but it's not like they have much experience to work with. Hendrickson has very little fantasy value.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 1/16, 2:01 PM CT
The Marlins signed Mark Hendrickson to a one-year, $1.5 million deal Wednesday. "Mark gives us another quality left-handed arm in our rotation and his experience and veteran leadership should benefit our clubhouse," said Fredi Gonzalez in the AP. Hendrickson posted a 5.21 ERA in 39 games (15 starts) for the Dodgers last year. Based on Gonzalez's comments, it sounds like he'll at least initially be used as a starter.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 12/13, 10:25 AM CT
The Dodgers declined to offer Mark Hendrickson a contract next for season, making him a free agent. In 39 games (15 starts), he posted a 5.21 with a 1.39 WHIP. Depending on where he signs, he could be used in a starting or relief role.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/13, 11:24 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson is headed back to the bullpen on Tuesday, which means the Dodgers are in need of a starter for Friday's game against Colorado, according to the AP. "We need him in the pen," said manager Grady Little, who would only hint at Hendrickson's replacement by saying that pitcher is not already with the team.

Our View: Hendrickson was pounded by the Cardinals for eight runs and 11 hits in less than three innings on Sunday, so the move is not too surprising.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/8, 6:37 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson will start Sunday's game for the Dodgers. He'll be working on short rest, having thrown 77 pitches over five innings on Wednesday. "I don't think we'll be asking the starter … for a lot of innings," manager Grady Little told the LA Times. Hendrickson may not work a lot of innings, but the Dodgers bullpen has been taxed lately, so ideally he'll keep his pitch count low and work as far into the game as possible.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/1, 10:44 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson has been inserted back into the Dodgers starting rotation, and he'll start on Wednesday against the Braves, according to the AP. "We feel good putting him back in there," manager Grady Little said. Hendrickson replaces Kuo, who was sent to Triple-A on Sunday. Hendrickson is 2-3 with a 4.81 ERA in eight starts this season.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/3, 7:12 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson will be bumped to the bullpen this week, as he's being replaced in the rotation by Jason Schmidt. Hendrickson has a 4.17 ERA and 1.26 WHIP this season, but he's allowed 18 runs over 21 2/3 innings during his past four starts.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/27, 8:51 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson will be allowed to throw up to 90 pitches Friday after being on a 75-pitch count for his first start, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/21, 7:08 AM CT
Mark Hendrickson will make his next start on April 28, according to the LA Times. That means Henrickson will be available in relief Sunday and Tuesday, as the Dodgers are off Monday.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/18, 11:47 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson will start Thursday at Colorado in place of the injured Jason Schmidt, according to the Dodgers official site. "Mark could get Schmidt's starts the next couple of turns," manager Grady Little said. Hendrickson has allowed just two runs in 11 innings this month, crediting his work with a sports psychologist.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/15, 5:59 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson was sharp against the Cardinals on Thursday, throwing five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and walking one. He's competing for a rotation spot this spring, although Brett Tomko is reportedly the favorite to come away with the job at this spring.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 1/15, 4:01 PM CT
The Dodgers avoided arbitration with Mark Hendrickson Monday by signing him to a one-year deal worth $2,950,000 million, according to the AP. With a stocked rotation, Hendrickson figures to work in middle relief for the club in '07.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/13, 10:30 AM CT
The Dodgers offered Mark Hendrickson arbitration prior to last night's deadline, according to the LA Times. The Dodgers hope to avoid going to arbitration with him by making a strong push to work out a contract.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 9/8, 8:59 PM CT
Mark Hendrickson will move to the Dodgers bullpen for the time being in order to work on his mechanics, according to the AP. The move appears to be temporary, and Eric Stults will start in Hendrickson's place on Sunday.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/3, 9:23 PM CT
Manger Grady Little said that Mark Hendrickson will stay in the rotation for the time being, according to the AP. Hendrickson is 1-6 with a 4.99 ERA since being acquired by the Dodgers in July. Little's decision to keep Hendrickson in the rotation was made easy with the injury to Chad Billingsley.
Mark Hendrickson, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/30, 11:39 PM CT
Manager Grady Little stated on Wednesday that he was uncertain whether Mark Hendrickson would remain in the rotation after his shaky start on Tuesday night, according to the AP. "I'm not really sure what we're going to do," Little said. Hendrickson holds a 5.59 ERA in his last four starts.
