Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/7, 12:30 PM CT
Endy Chavez is set to undergo surgery to repair his torn ACL and MCL on Thursday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Chavez is expected to be out for the season with the injury.

Our View: Chavez made an appearance in the M's clubhouse on Monday, and he was said to be smiling. He was on crutches, and he will not play another game until next year at the earliest. He was having a nice season in Seattle, but the team will have to do without until 2010.

ESPN is reporting that Mariners' outfielder Endy Chavez is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered Friday against the Diamondbacks. Chavez showed up to the field today with his leg in a full cast.

Our View: Anyone who has Chavez on their fantasy team should feel free to unload him, since it is highly unlikely he will play another game this season. Chavez was having a nice season with Seattle, so it is unfortunate he will be out.

According to the Seattle Times, the Mariners are not optimistic about the status of Endy Chavez's injured knee.

Our View: Chavez collided with shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt in Friday's game and was carted off the field. Reports right now are that the injury does not look good and the team fears Chavez suffered extensive ligament damage and could be out for a considerable amount of time. No roster moves have been made yet, but a DL stint is almost a certainty. Michael Saunders is a likely candidate to get called up from Triple-A to take Chavez's place. The team needs a lefty bat and he could provide one.

Endy Chavez was carted off the field in Friday's battle against Arizona at Safeco Field, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He injured his right knee while colliding with shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt. Chavez's status is yet to be updated.

Endy Chavez went 2-for-5 with two RBI, his second home run and his eighth stolen base against the Angels on Sunday.

Our View: Chavez was hot at the beginning of the season, started to lose playing time in mid-May but has again began to play more often than not with Wladimir Balentien struggling. As long as he plays, Chavez should continue to be a decent source of cheap speed.
Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/5, 6:41 PM CT
According to the Seattle Times, Endy Chavez will start in left field and bat leadoff for the Mariners in their opening game on Monday.

Our View: Chavez will get the start, but don't expect him to stick there for long. Ichiro will certainly reclaim the leadoff role when he returns from injury and Chavez will most likely become a platoon player.
Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/2, 6:11 PM CT
Endy Chavez drove in four runs on three hits Thursday against the Padres.

Our View: Chavez hit a rare home run and has been effective from the plate at times this spring. Chavez is a much better player than he is a fantasy option, so look elsewhere for production at the start of the 2009 campaign even if he ends up with the majority of starts against right-handed pitching in left field.
Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/25, 12:35 AM CT
Outfielder Endy Chavez did his best Ichiro impression on Tuesday. He batted leadoff against the Dodgers and went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, a double, and two steals.

Our View: Chavez is slated to be the starting left fielder this season, but he could lose at-bats to Ken Griffey or Wladimir Balentien. He doesn't offer much outside of some speed and a potentially decent average.
Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/3, 7:37 PM CT
Endy Chavez drove in a pair of runs in three at-bats as the Venezuelan team lost to the Tigers 7-5 on Tuesday.

Our View: Chavez should be productive enough this spring to push for a starting job in the Mariners' outfield this season.
Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 12/10, 10:37 PM CT
Outfielder Endy Chavez was sent from New York to Seattle on Wednesday as part of a 12-player deal that sent reliever J.J. Putz to the Mets, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Chavez has rarely seen the opportunity to play everyday and it remains to be seen if he will get that chance with the Mariners. Indians' outfielder Franklin Gutirerrez was also sent to Seattle in the trade, and it's likely the two could split time next season.

Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/27, 8:14 AM CT
Although Mets manager Willie Randolph said that Endy Chavez "could play" on Monday, it's not clear exactly when he will come off the disabled list. "He's about ready to go, but it's about when we want to activate him, more than anything," Randolph told the New York Daily News. "A lot depends on what we're going to do with the roster, that's what it boils down to. We have the luxury of pushing him back. If it impacts our pitching, our extra players, you have to consider that." While he could return from his strained hamstring any day now, expect him to be back no later than Sept. 1, when rosters expand.

Endy Chavez remains on the DL due to a strained left hamstring, and he is not expected back soon. "I don't think Endy's that close," manager Willie Randolph tells Newsday. "I'm just going to say that instead of saying he's going to be back in a week or so. I think he must have damaged his hamstring a lot more than originally thought, obviously, because it's been a while." Chavez has been out since June 6.

Endy Chavez, LF, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/7, 10:42 AM CT
Endy Chavez injured his left hamstring on Wednesday night and is likely headed to the disabled list. "Endy went down pretty hard. I'm sure it's going to be a DL. You hope it's not real bad, but he's probably going on the DL anyway," manager Willie Randolph tells the New York Daily News. With Moises Alou and Shawn Green already on the DL, Carlos Gomez, Ben Johnson, and David Newhan will continue to fill the Mets corners in the short term.
