Timo Perez, OF, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 1/28, 11:41 AM CT
Journeyman Timo Perez has signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers. He will be invited to the team's major league camp.

Our View: Perez, 34 years old, last appeared in the majors in 2007 with the Tigers. He seems unlikely to make it back to the bigs in 2010.

Timo Perez has been reassigned to minor league camp by the Tigers, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Perez had little chance to earn a reserve spot in the crowded Tigers' outfield, and would not have held much fantasy value if he made it.

Timo Perez continued his hot spring as he went 2-for-5 in Tuesday's contest. He's now hitting .409 this preseason.

Our View: Perez now has eight hits in his last three games and continues to increase his chances to make the Tigers Opening Day roster. Should he do so, he would be a platoon/bench player and would command little fantasy value in a deep Tigers offense.

Timo Perez hit leadoff for the Tigers on Monday and finished the game 4-for-5 with a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI. He played all nine innings in left field as the Tigers won 7-6 over the Cardinals.

Our View: Perez is a stretch to make this team, although today's performance certainly helped him. He plays solid defense, but is an erratic hitter. The Tigers have a solid mix of veterans and prospects that figure to block his way to the opening day roster, but he could latch on elsewhere if he does not accept the minor league assignment.

Timo Perez has agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the Tigers, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The 33-year-old veteran will attend spring training as a non-roster invitee. He is not expected to be fantasy-worthy in 2009.

The Tigers optioned Timo Perez to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, according to the AP. He was 1-for-7 in the three games with Detroit.

Our View: Perez is strictly a backup with no fantasy value.
