Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/30, 8:01 PM CT
The Mets got something on Wednesday night that they rarely saw all season - a quality start from Tim Redding, who allowed just one run in six innings. However, then they got something they had seen six times before - a blown save from Francisco Rodriguez, who allowed a walk-off grand slam, as the Mets lost 7-4 in Washington.

Our View: Redding has actually had quite an impressive September, going 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA in six starts. He still likely won't be back with the Amazins in 2010, however.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 9/25, 9:29 PM CT
Tim Redding was tagged for four earned runs on six hits over six innings in Friday's 6-5 win at Florida. He had four walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Redding struggled on the hill, and ended the night with a no-decision as the game was tied at 3-3 when he exited. He fell off track after only allowing one earned run in each of his previous two starts.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 9/19, 3:09 PM CT
Tim Redding bumped his record to 3-6 on Saturday as the Mets downed the Nationals 3-2. Redding went seven innings and allowed on run on four hits while walking two and striking out four.

Our View: Redding has actually been very good over his last two starts, which is a nice change from ealier this season. He is by no means a fantasy pitcher, but at least he is giving his team a chance to win on days he pitches.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 9/13, 10:28 PM CT
Tim Redding deserved better than being handed his sixth loss of the season on Sunday. He only allowed one run on three hits and two walks over six innings, but was outdueled by Pedro Martinez and the Mets fell 1-0 to the Phillies.

Our View: Redding is now 1-2 since rejoining the Mets rotation on August 22nd, but he has been solid in four of his five outings. If the Mets weren't marred by an insane amount of injuries this season, he wouldn't be starting, but he's done a nice job lately of filling in.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 9/8, 9:40 PM CT
Tim Redding allowed four runs and nine baserunners in five innings on Tuesday, taking the loss as the Mets lost 4-2 to the Marlins.

Our View: Redding is about as far from a viable fantasy starter as they come, and will continue to not pitch effectively as the season winds down.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/2, 10:52 PM CT
Tim Redding had a nice outing against the Rockies on Wednesday. He allowed just two runs on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings while striking out six in a 5-2 loss.

Our View: After being one of the worst pitchers on the planet from May through July, Redding rebounded in August and even worked his way back in to the starting rotation after being demoted. He has been solid in his last three straight starting affairs.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 8/27, 3:34 PM CT
Tim Redding earned a rare win on Thursday as the Mets downed the Marlins 10-3. He allowed three runs on three solo homers over 6.2 innings, and surrendered just five hits and a pair of walks in total.

Our View: The outing was arguably Redding's best since June, and he was rewarded with a victory in just his second start since rejoining the rotation. The three homers allowed isn't nearly as scary since he served them up with no one on base.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 8/22, 11:40 PM CT
Tim Redding was outstanding in his start on Saturday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Mets fell 4-1 to the Phillies. Redding went five innings and did not allow a run while surrendering only one hit, walking three, and striking out four.

Our View: Redding couldn't go more than five after not starting for awhile, but he was excellent while he was out there. Redding struggled badly in his last stint in the rotation, but this work against a smoking hot Phillies' lineup is impressive. He will need to put a few of these together if fantasy owners are going to take a chance on him again.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 8/20, 4:16 PM CT
Tim Redding will take the recently released Livan Hernandez's turn in the Mets rotation on Saturday, according to the New York Post's Bart Hubbuch.

Our View: It will come against the Phillies. Not good news for a pitcher with a 1-4 record and 6.53 ERA in 71.2 innings this season.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 8/1, 4:58 PM CT
Mets' skipper Jerry Manuel noted that Tim Redding or a Triple-A hurler will likely start Monday's game against Arizona, according to Bart Hubbuch's (New York Post) twitter page.

Our View: Redding is already on the Mets' roster, so he would likely have an edge to start. If Redding does start, he should only be considered for deeper fantasy leagues though.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 7/27, 8:20 AM CT
Tim Redding is likely to remain with the Mets for the rest of the season, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: The Amazins had been prepared to release the journeyman righty, who has posted a 7.16 ERA in 55.1 innings this year, but were precluded from doing so by injuries. Put it this way with Redding: things are likely to get a whole lot worse before they get better.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 7/19, 8:52 PM CT
Tim Redding was hit with his fourth loss of the season after taking over for the injured Fernando Nieve on Sunday as the Mets fell to the Braves 7-1. Redding went three innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits while walking three.

Our View: There have been rumors going around that the Mets are planning to release Redding, but the injury to Nieve may force the team to keep him around. His performance today did nothing to merit a return to the rotation, so his status with the team is still in flux going forward.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 7/18, 10:28 AM CT
The Mets are planning on releasing Tim Redding, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Redding was removed from the rotation when Oliver Perez returned from the disabled list, and with a 7.22 ERA this season, is no longer of any use to the Mets. He is not an option in any format.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 7/4, 1:42 PM CT
According to Metsblog.com, the team has removed pitcher Tim Redding from the rotation to make room for Oliver Perez. Redding will be used as a long reliever going forward.

Our View: Redding forced the Mets to make this move with his awful play over the past few starts, and he has no one to blame but himself. Any fantasy value he had is gone now, and will remain so unless he gets another shot in the rotation.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 7/2, 4:45 PM CT
Tim Redding was awful again on Thursday, pitching just 2.1 innings and surrendering five earned runs, but, amazingly, the Mets offense bailed him out as the Amazins won 9-8 in ten innings in Pittsburgh.

Our View: Redding shouldn't be in the Mets rotation much longer, as both John Maine and Oliver Perez are due back from the disabled list soon. He is not a viable fantasy option in any format for any reason.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 6/27, 11:19 PM CT
Tim Redding was his mediocre self against the Yankees on Saturday, dropping to 1-3 after giving up five runs off six hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.1 innings.

Our View: Redding continues to toil in mediocrity in New York's starting rotation and cannot be relied upon as a fantasy starter, regardless of your league size or format.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 6/24, 7:40 PM CT
Skipper Jerry Manuel indicated that Tim Redding will start Saturday against the Yankees, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Oliver Perez or John Maine will not be ready to return to the Mets by Saturday, so Redding will make another start in the rotation. Maine will return as a starter, while Perez may work out of the bullpen for a while until he proves he belongs in the rotation.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 6/22, 9:39 PM CT
Tim Redding gave up four earned runs on five hits over seven innings in Monday's 6-4 win over the Cardinals at Citi Field. He had one walk and four strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: It was not a solid outing for Redding, but his teammates provided enough offensive support for him to earn his first win of the season over seven starts. It was previously reported that Redding could be moved to the bullpen when John Maine is ready to return from his shoulder ailment.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 6/22, 8:33 PM CT
Tim Redding could be moved to the Mets' bullpen when John Maine is ready to return from his shoulder ailment, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: Redding failed to impress the Mets, as he is 0-2 with a 6.27 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over six starts. His fantasy stock would obviously drop even lower if he is taken out of the rotation.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 6/11, 9:37 PM CT
Tim Redding allowed three earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Phillies at Citi Field. He had no walks and fired six strikeouts.

Our View: The game was tied 3-3 when Redding left the game, so he takes a no-decision. Redding is yet to win over five starts with New York, and has a 6.18 ERA. He is not worth using outside of deeper NL-only leagues for now.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 6/5, 9:39 PM CT
Tim Redding only allowed one earned run on six hits over six innings in Friday's 3-1 win at Washington. He had two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: He exited the game tied 1-1, and ended the night with a no-decision rather than a win. This marks his best outing of the season, and Redding could be worth consideration for fantasy duty in his next start.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 6/3, 5:49 PM CT
Wednesday's Mets-Pirates game has been postponed due to rain according to the New York Daily News. Tim Redding's start has been pushed back to Friday against the Nationals.

Our View: The Mets could have completely skipped Redding's start, especially given his 2009 struggles. Through three starts, he has a 9.21 ERA and 0-2 record. For now, he should be avoided in fantasy leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 5/30, 3:52 PM CT
Tim Redding pitched poorly for the second straight outing as the Mets fell to the Marlins 7-3 on Sunday. All seven runs came off of Redding, who gave up eight hits and two walks.

Our View: This makes 13 earned runs over his last 8.2 innings of work. Suddenly, Oliver Perez is looking like a decent option for the Mets rotation. However, with Perez experiencing a setback in his rehab, Redding should make at least a few more starts. You should stay away of him in fantasy leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 5/18, 1:34 PM CT
Tim Redding has been activated from the DL to start tonight's game against the Dodgers, according to the Star-Ledger. He has been rehabbing from shoulder fatique. He said, "I feel like I am as strong as I could possibly be right now, and I am looking forward to Monday night. These guys are on a roll, and I want to fit back in with my teammates and contribute."

Our View: Redding replaces the struggling Oliver Perez in the rotation, and could stick around if he proves to be effective. Redding is worth targeting in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 5/15, 8:47 AM CT
Tim Redding will be activated from the DL to start Monday's game against the Dodgers, according to the New York Daily News. He has been recovering from shoulder fatigue.

Our View: Redding will be taking Oliver Perez's spot in the rotation, and could keep the job if he is effective. He is worth consideration in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues. The Mets currently lead the NL East with a 19-15 record.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 5/6, 7:23 PM CT
The New York Daily News reports that pitcher Tim Redding appears ready to join the Mets after throwing 85 pitches and topping out at 91-mph on Wednesday at Triple-A Buffalo. He gave up one run on six hits while striking out five. He could join the Mets rotation next week.

Our View: Redding is in Triple-A due to right shoulder fatigue, but he appears to be over that condition. Redding was not very effective in 2008, but he could benefit from pitching in the spacious Citi Field.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 5/1, 12:16 PM CT
Tim Redding is slated to pitch in an extended spring training game at some point this weekend, according to the New York Post. He is recovering from right shoulder fatigue.

Our View: Redding could start a rehab assignment soon. He would likely work out of the bullpen as a long-reliever upon his return to New York, but could start if the Mets need an injury replacement in the rotation.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 4/28, 7:40 AM CT
Tim Redding (shoulder fatigue) will remain in St. Lucie for his next start, according to the New York Daily News. He is slated for around 75 pitches and five innings, and could start as early as Thursday.

Our View: Redding will likely serve as a long-reliever out of the Mets' bullpen upon his return, but could work his way into the rotation if one of their current starters struggles or suffers an injury. Oliver Perez is struggling, but he is still scheduled to make his next start.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 4/26, 11:15 AM CT
Pitcher Tim Redding (shoulder) worked four scoreless innings in an extended spring training game on Saturday. He will make a start for Triple-A Buffalo later this week and could be activated by the Mets in roughly 10 days, the New York Daily News reports.

Our View: Every Mets starter save Johan Santana has been cautioned about potentially losing their starting spot, and Redding could step into the rotation when he is ready. As of now, Redding is only assured of being a long reliever, but we'll see how things play out over the coming week or so.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 4/22, 12:05 PM CT
Tim Redding, who is recovering from right shoulder fatigue, pitched in an extended spring training game Monday, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Redding will make another appearance this weekend. He may be ready to return to the Mets by mid-May, but will likely serve in the bullpen initially.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 4/12, 11:23 AM CT
Tim Redding, who is recovering from a sore right shoulder, is targeting an early-May return to the mound, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Redding will throw his third bullpen session Monday before making his first rehab start with Single-A St. Lucie on April 20. Redding will likely serve as a long-reliever when he returns to the Mets, hence limiting his fantasy value.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 10:14 AM CT
Tim Redding will start the season on the disabled list with shoulder fatigue, according to the NY Daily News. He is not experiencing any pain, and an MRI is not necessary.

Our View: Redding will need to rehab before returning to the mound, but his fantasy stock already took a hit when he was slated for a long-relief role this season.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 3/13, 12:15 PM CT
According to the New York Daily News, Tim Redding has been slated for long relief. Livan Hernandez is the current favorite to earn the fifth spot in the Mets' rotation.

Our View: His last start likely erased any chance of earning a rotation spot, as he was shelled for nine runs over two innings.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 3/12, 11:33 PM CT
Tim Redding was completely blown up by Florida on Thursday, allowing nine runs off eight hits, three that left the yard, and one walk while failing to strike anybody out in two innings of relief.

Our View: That's not quite the type of effort you want to put forth when you're battling for the final spot in a starting rotation. Redding must be a whole lot better his next time out if he's to re-position himself in the competition.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 3/5, 1:56 PM CT
According to the New York Post, Tim Redding faced batters for the first time this spring. Recovering from off season toe surgery, Redding looks set to start on Sunday.

Our View: Redding is expected to be the favorite in the fight for the Mets' fifth starter spot, but doesn't add much fantasy value even if he wins the job. A possible option in deep NL-only leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 2/26, 7:52 AM CT
Tim Redding is dealing with some tightness in his back and shoulder, according to MetsCitiBlog.com.

Our View: Redding needs to be healthy while competing with Freddy Garcia, Livan Hernandez and Jon Niese for the fifth spot in the Mets' rotation. Redding expects to hold the fifth spot, and would be worth consideration for deeper NL-only leagues if he does.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 2/13, 11:24 AM CT
Tim Redding will have to compete with Freddy Garcia, but Redding ultimately expects to be the fifth starter in the Mets' rotation, according to the NY Post. Redding said, "It is my assumption, and I have been told that I have been brought in here to be a starting pitcher - bottom line."

Our View: Redding would be pushed into a relief role if Garcia beats him out for the rotation spot. Whoever wins the fifth spot will have a solid supporting cast to succeed, making him worthy of consideration in NL-only leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 1/30, 7:53 AM CT
Tim Redding noted that the Pirates were interested in him before he inked with the Mets, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Redding will have a chance to compete for a spot at the back of the Mets' rotation, and will have a much better supporting cast to succeed by joining them and not the Pirates.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 1/10, 7:15 AM CT
Newly-signed pitcher Tim Redding will likely compete with Jon Niese for the fifth spot in the Mets rotation, the New York Post reports.

Our View: This evaluation assumes the Mets sign Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez, Randy Wolf, or someone else to join Johan Santana, John Maine, and Mike Pelfrey. Niese is a promising 22-year-old lefty, and the Redding deal likely means he can head back to Triple-A for more seasoning.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 1/9, 2:16 PM CT
As expected, Tim Redding has agreed to a one-year, $2.25-million deal with the Mets, according to the Denver Post. Redding can make an additional $700,000 in incentives for starts and $500,000 for relief appearances.

Our View: Redding will provide favorable depth near the back of the Mets' rotation, and notably went 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA over five starts against the division rival Phillies last season.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 1/9, 1:24 PM CT
The Mets are closing in on a deal with Tim Redding, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. Redding is expected to receive a one-year deal for $2.25 million, plus incentives.

Our View: The Mets will still try to sign Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez or Randy Wolf after closing the deal with Redding.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 1/9, 12:34 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated lists the Rangers as a candidate for free agent hurler Tim Redding.

Our View: Heyman also lists the Dodgers, Brewers and Rockies, but the top contenders to reel in Redding are believed to still be the Mets and Orioles.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 1/8, 5:33 PM CT
Tim Redding apparently has been offered an official contract by the Mets, according to the New York Post. "[Minaya's] thinking is he would like to bring in six or seven starters this spring because of what happened last year," the source said.

Our View: No numbers were discussed in the piece, and there is only a "source" named as the genesis of the report, but given that Redding is known to be on the team's radar, we have no reason to dispute the current report. The team is still said to be in on the Derek Lowe sweepstakes, and Pedro Martinez is also floating around.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 1/7, 6:20 PM CT
Tim Redding is believed to be out of the Rockies price range now that they have acquired Jason Marquis, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Rockies had been actively pursuing Redding. The Mets and Orioles have also been rumored to be after Redding.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 1/7, 7:51 AM CT
Mike Fitzpatrick of the AP believes the Mets made an offer to hurler Tim Redding.

Our View: It is uncertain what the Mets offered him, or if the rumor is even true. Redding would be a nice fit for the back of the Mets' rotation, and he notably went 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA over five starts against the division rival Phillies last season.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 1/5, 7:56 PM CT
The Rockies are still interested in Tim Redding, despite acquiring Jason Marquis through a trade, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Redding would help the Rockies bolster a rotation that struggled mightily during last season as they bottomed out after making the World Series in 2007.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 12/29, 4:22 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that the Rockies, Mets and Orioles are all interested in starter Tim Redding to help round out the back end of their rotations.

Our View: The Orioles recently added Mark Hendrickson so they may call off their pursuit. Redding threw 182 innings last season and posted a 4.95 ERA. His 5.93 K/9 ratio is slightly above average.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 12/19, 7:04 AM CT
The Rockies signed Glendon Rusch but are still interested in Tim Redding, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The club has significant interest in him and are in the mix to reel him in. Redding held a 1.43 WHIP in 2008, but would be fine as a back-of-the-rotation starter for the Rockies.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 12/18, 3:46 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that the Rockies, Rangers, Mets and Orioles have led the pursuit for starting pitcher Tim Redding.

Our View: Redding has a career ERA of 4.93 and it's somewhat of a wonder why so many GM's are coveting him.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 12/16, 1:55 PM CT
The Orioles are talking to Tim Redding's rep (Tom O'Connell), according to ESPN.

Our View: The Mets and Rockies are also interested in Redding, both destinations of which would be more favorable than Baltimore. The Orioles are also looking at Paul Byrd, Jon Garland, Mark Hendrickson, Braden Looper and Randy Wolf, as well as Japanese hurlers Kenshin Kawakami and Koji Uehara.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 12/16, 8:20 AM CT
The Mets have garnered interest in hurler Tim Redding, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: Redding joins Oliver Perez and Randy Wolf as targets for the Mets. Redding held a 4.95 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 182 innings with the Nationals in 2008, but his numbers could benefit from a much better supporting cast in New York.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 12/12, 8:05 PM CT
The Rockies will pursue Tim Redding now that he has become a free agent, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: This isn't a surprise, as the Rockies showed interest in trading for Redding earlier in the week.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 12/12, 6:26 PM CT
Tim Redding was non-tendered by the Nationals on Friday, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: The Nationals would like to re-sign Redding, but don't want to pay him what he could get through arbitration.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 12/9, 1:34 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Rockies and Nationals have discussed a deal involving Carlos Gonzalez for Tim Redding. Should the deal go through, it would mark the third time Gonzalez has been traded in less than a year.

Our View: Gonzalez has been referred to as a top prospect, while Redding was 10-11 with a 4.95 ERA for Washington this past season. Oh yeah, he just underwent surgery to repair a bone in a joint in his left foot less than two weeks ago. Clearly Vegas has gotten the best of Rockies' GM Dan O'Dowd.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 11/30, 2:13 PM CT
Tim Redding underwent surgery to repair a bone in a joint on his left foot, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He will need around six weeks to recover, and is expected to be good to go for the start of spring training. Redding will be looking to bounce back, after going 10-11 with a poor 4.95 ERA over 33 starts with Washington in 2008.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 11/24, 6:14 PM CT
Washington hurler Tim Redding will undergo foot surgery on Friday to repair bone damage, according to the AP.

Our View: Redding should be just fine when spring training rolls around. He didn't have much fantasy value this year, except for owners in deep NL-only leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/24, 9:51 PM CT
Tim Redding was blasted for the third consecutive start on Wednesday. The Marlins got to him for seven runs in 2.2 innings of work.

Our View: He did manage to get four strikeouts giving him 120 in 182 innings this season. He has not done his owners very much good in 2008.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 9/1, 7:38 PM CT
Tim Redding won his 10th game of the year on Monday as he held the Phillies to three runs in 5.2 innings of action. Redding allowed only two hits and three walks in the outing, though he produced just two strikeouts.

Our View: This was just the second victory in nine appearances for Redding though it was his third straight outing of three of fewer earned runs allowed after a stretch of 20 runs in four appearances covering 20 innings in late July and early August.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 8/16, 7:30 AM CT
Center fielder Lastings Milledge misplayed a ball in center field with two outs on Friday, leading to three extra runs in the Nationals 4-3 loss to Colorado, and pitcher Tim Redding was none too pleased, according to the Washington Times. "Any time you give up runs, period, it's frustrating. But the most frustrating is when you know the inning should have been over and you give up runs to guys that shouldn't have been at the plate," Redding said.

Our View: Losing can be a grind, so it's likely that had a lot to do with Redding's rant, especially because the Nationals have lost eight straight. However, Milledge is having a great month of August, and one misplay by a young player is going to happen from time to time.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 8/7, 2:34 PM CT
Tim Redding was struck in the right leg by a fly ball while standing in the outfield during batting practice Thursday, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Redding fell to the ground, and remained down for about a minute. Trainer Lee Kuntz trotted to the outfield, and Redding walked gingerly off the diamond. The team says he has a right quad contusion and should be able to make his next start.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 8/4, 11:23 PM CT
Tim Redding won his eighth game of the season as Washington beat Colorado 9-4. Redding tossed five innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out six.

Our View: Redding is the closest thing the Nationals have to a quality fantasy pitcher. He isn't a great option, but is useful in NL-only leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 7/31, 8:56 AM CT
Tim Redding's trade value has taken a dip, not only because of his poor performance Wednesday, but also because Nats GM Jim Bowden is asking for too much for the veteran, according to SI's Jon Heyman. "Jim Bowden overplayed his hand," one NL GM said about the Nats GM.

Our View: Redding has had a decent year, but he hasn't been very good since June, and he's been a mediocre starter, at best, throughout his career.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 7/24, 4:52 PM CT
Tim Redding only allowed one earned run on seven hits over eight innings of work on Thursday, but was dealt a loss as Washington fell to San Francisco, 1-0. Redding also had five strikeouts with no walks.

Our View: Redding produced one of his best outings of the season, but ended the day with his fifth loss of the season due to no run support from his team-mates. He has seven wins so far, which is admirable considering the Nationals have a 38-64 record.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 7/18, 9:39 PM CT
Tim Redding was hit hard in his four innings of work on Friday, allowing six runs on six hits and walking three while picking up his fourth loss of the season.

Our View: This was a bad night for Redding, who saw his ERA jump to over 4.00. He had only allowed one earned run in 12 innings in July after a poor June, but that success eluded him against Atlanta. He still has value as a fantasy player, but these type of performances should be expected from time-to-time.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 7/14, 9:14 AM CT
The Nationals plan to reshuffle their pitching staff after the All Star break, manager Manny Acta told the team website on Saturday. The Nationals skipper said that Tim Redding , John Lannan, Odalis Perez, Jason Bergmann and Collin Balester would be the starting five out of the break.

Our View: Acta added that Bergmann, who last pitched on Thursday and faces the prospect of a 12-day layoff between starts, would be available out of the bullpen for the Nationals during their first two games against the Braves.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 7/11, 10:07 PM CT
Tim Redding threw six shutout innings at home against the Astros on Friday. He gave up seven hits, no walks and struck out six.

Our View: For teams looking for cheaper options to pickup for the stretch run, Redding has been impressive as of late. The Nationals are likely listening to offers.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSaturday 7/5, 10:03 PM CT
Tim Redding allowed just one run over six innings against the Reds, but he was still left without a win or loss in his ninth straight no-decision.

Our View: Redding lowered his ERA to 4.06 in this outing, though he allowed eight hits in six innings leaving him with 108 hits allowed in 108 innings this season. Redding has been solid for most of the year, even if his record fails to reflect that fact.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 6/30, 11:01 PM CT
Tim Redding didn't record an out in the sixth inning of the National Monday night loss to Florida after giving up two hits to start the inning. Jesus Colome relieved Redding and allowing Matt Treanor to tie the game with a sacrifice fly. Redding stuck out six in five-plus innings, giving up four runs on eight hits for the Nationals. The outing was his eighth straight no-decision.

Our View: Redding has been the most consistent Washington pitcher this year. He entered the game with a 6-3 record, 4.05 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.

Tim Redding only surrendered two runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings in Sunday's 6-2 win over Seattle, with two walks and four strikeouts. He exited the game with a no-decision, and Washington rallied with four runs in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie.

Our View: Redding still holds a 6-3 record over 15 starts, and trimmed his ERA to 4.10. He would have won if the Nationals' bats woke up a few innings earlier.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsThursday 6/5, 9:35 PM CT
Tim Redding picked up a no-decision despite allowing six runs in 5.2 innings on Thursday night to the Cardinals. Redding struck out only one batter while allowing two home runs.

Our View: Redding is now sporting a 7.56 ERA over his last three starts to basically erase his hot start to the year. Hopefully you sold him when he was hot like we recommended because it certainly appears that he is just barely better than your average major league starter.

Washington RHP Tim Redding failed to add to his team-leading record today, but the Nationals emerged with the 7-6 over Milwaukee regardless. Redding lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up five runs (all earned) on 10 hits with just one walk surrendered and seven strikeouts on the day.

Our View: Redding has posted a strong 3-1 record this month with just nine walks overall versus 21 strikeouts over that span.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsTuesday 5/20, 11:49 AM CT
Tim Redding has thrown four quality starts in his last five, and his Monday night effort was by far the best of his previous three. The right-hander shut out the Phillies for 6.1 innings allowing seven hits, walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Watch Redding in future starts. His BHIP percentage (.205) has been too good, carrying him to some quality innings that could have been much worse. That said, his 3.16 ERA and 1.16 WHIP don't warrant serious concerns.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 5/19, 9:10 PM CT
Tim Redding was masterful for 6.1 innings as he shutout the Phillies on his way to his sixth victory of the season.

Our View: Redding only struck out two guys on the night, but he limited his walk total to two which led to this great outing. Redding lowered his ERA to 3.16, and despite his deficiencies, it's hard to argue against that number.

Washington needed a strong outing off the mound from RHP Tim Redding with the offense struggling, and the hurler came through, pitching six innings to allow just one run on a lowly two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Our View: Redding has shown flashes of greatness this season and tonight gives more indication of a bright future.

The Marlins were ready for Nats starter Tim Redding on Friday night. They were patient at the plate, this after striking out 10 times to the right-hander in their last game against him. Redding walked a season-high four over 5.1 innings. He gave up only four hits and struck out three but was charged with five earned runs.

Our View: Redding has been the Nationals most consistent starter and his nasty curve ball will allow him to win plenty of game throughout the summer, if he can get some run support.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 5/4, 4:34 PM CT
Tim Redding improved to 4-2 by working 6.1 strong innings against the Pirates on Sunday. He held the Bucs to six hits and one run, walked none, and struck out five.

Our View: Redding stats look great through seven starts, and his ERA over his last 22 outings is 3.50. Mixed league fantasy owners may need to start taking this right-hander serious.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 4/23, 9:22 PM CT
Tim Redding was saddled with his second loss of the season after allowing four hits, three walks and three runs in five innings to the Mets.

Our View: Redding continues to be a solid option in shallow mixed leagues, but we still would hold off on counting on him to emerge as a big-time performer given his relative lack of control in the early going (4.00 BB/9).
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsWednesday 4/23, 1:58 PM CT
Tim Redding will be aiming for his fourth win of the season, when he challenges the Mets tonight, according to MLB.com. He is 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA over 22 innings, with 17 strikeouts and a 1.18 WHIP. He also accounted for three of the Nationals' five wins this season.

Our View: He will duel with lefty ace Johan Santana, who will clearly have the edge, but Redding could still have a quality start. His fantasy stock remains on the rise, and he is worth targeting for your rotation.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsFriday 4/18, 9:29 PM CT
Tim Redding struck out 10 batters on Friday night to help him earn his third victory of the season. Redding allowed only three hits and one walk on the night, though he still permitted the Marlins to score four runs in his six innings on the hill.

Our View: Redding entered the game with only seven K and eight BB in 16 innings, so tonight was quite the change. Redding has vaulted himself to being a solid starter in NL Only leagues, but he should still be nothing more than a spot starter in mixed leagues.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsSunday 4/13, 4:57 PM CT
Tim Redding picked up his second win of the season on Sunday, and he needs to thank his bullpen. The starter allowed six hits and three runs over 5.0 innings, and the bullpen held the Braves to one unearned run over the final four frames. Redding is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA.

Our View: Redding has had a strange string of starts thus far. He walks too many guys and doesn't miss many bats, but he's somehow come out looking good. Don't count on the good numbers to last.
Tim Redding, P, New York MetsMonday 4/7, 9:52 PM CT
Tim Redding allowed seven runs on Monday night in just four innings, though only one of the runs was earned. As a result of all the unearned runs, Redding has a 0.82 ERA with a 1-1 record in his first 11 innings this season. Redding doesn't miss enough bats to be successful to this degree, of course that success is relative since he did still allow seven runs on the night.

MLB.com reports that GM Jim Bowden and skipper Manny Acta indicated they don't want right-handers Tim Redding or Jason Bergmann to pitch on four days' rest. Right now, the team has only four starters in the rotation, and based on the schedule, Redding would pitch Sunday against the Cardinals and Bergmann would go on Monday against the Marlins. Bowden and Acta said the Nationals have not ruled out using a bullpen-by-committee for one of those games and starting John Lannan in the other.

Tim Redding kept the mighty Phillies lineup in check on Wednesday night as he limited the Phils to just one hit and no runs in seven innings. Redding, who walked three and struck out two, continues to live or die by his control, and there is just no way to predict long term success for a guy who has 66 K and 54 BB the past three seasons, but he was sharp on this night.

Nationals manager Manny Acta said that Tim Redding felt "much better" after playing catch on Tuesday, according to the AP. "He was examined this morning again, and chances are he’s going to make his next start on Friday," Acta added. Redding injured his back during Sunday's outing, but it looks like he should be ready when the season begins next week, barring a setback.

Tim Redding was injured while trying to beat out bunt in the fourth inning of Sunday's spring game against the Fish. After retiring the first nine Marlins he faced, Redding gave up three hits and a walk to the first four batters he faced in the fourth.
