Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 1/5, 7:12 PM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants have officially inked Juan Uribe to a one-year, $3.25 million contract.

Our View: Uribe had a fine season with the Giants last year, hitting .289 with 16 homers and 55 RBI and really turned it on down the stretch. There is talk of him being the team's starting third baseman, which means that Pablo Sandoval would play first and recent signee Mark DeRosa would man left field. Uribe is extremely versatile though and could play second base and shortstop as well.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 1/4, 7:06 PM CT
Juan Uribe has officially re-signed with the Giants after passing his physical today, according to Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area. He inked a one-year deal.

Our View: The 30-year-old vet will work as a utility man in 2010. He can see action at second base, shortstop and third if needed.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 12/30, 11:08 AM CT
Juan Uribe has agreed to a deal to remain with the Giants in 2010, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The likely one-year pact will be finalized after he passes a physical. Uribe was excellent for the Giants in 122 games in 2009, batting .289 with 16 home runs and 55 RBI while playing multiple positions.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 12/28, 7:07 PM CT
The Giants are believed to be close to re-signing Juan Uribe, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Uribe fit in well with San Francisco in 2009, and batted .289 with a .329 OBP over 122 games. The veteran infielder will turn 31 in March.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 12/24, 12:10 PM CT
FoxSports.com reports that utility man Juan Uribe is close to returning to the Giants.

Our View: Uribe hit .289 with an .824 OPS in 398 at-bats last season. He was one of the better Giants hitters down the stretch, but he still may not be an everyday option for them. If he becomes one, he deserves to be bumped up draft boards.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 12/8, 7:27 PM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Juan Uribe's agent may be willing to revisit the Giants one-year offer with an option.

Our View: This is far from a guarantee, but Uribe's people may be willing to think about the Giants offer. The infielder had a tremendous season in 2009, hitting .299 with 15 homers and 53 RBI, and was a steal at a $1 million minor league contract last January.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/27, 11:18 PM CT
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Juan Uribe is lobbying to stick with the Giants next season.

Our View: The 30-year-old infielder is having a surprisingly dominant season and could be an option for the Giants next year at second base. It would allow them to neglect Freddy Sanchez's option and get similar or better production at the position for a more modest price. Uribe was signed to a $1 million minor league deal in January and with a .299/.337/.505 line on top of his 15 homers and 53 RBI he's one of the best bargains in the National League.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 9/26, 6:37 PM CT
The red hot Juan Uribe churned out another fine performance on Saturday. The shortstop went 3-for-4 with a homer and the only two Giant RBI in a 6-2 loss to the Cubs.

Our View: Uribe now has seven homers and 20 RBI this month, and his explosive September has turned him into a fantasy darling down the stretch.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/25, 11:59 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 1-for-3 with a single in tonight's 3-0 loss to the Cubs at AT&T Park.

Our View: The Giants only mustered two hits in the shutout loss. Uribe extended his hitting streak to six games, and is batting .353 this month.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 9/24, 8:19 AM CT
Juan Uribe went 2-for-3 with three RBI on Wednesday, as the Giants won 5-2 in Arizona.

Our View: Uribe has been one of the majors' most productive hitters in September, batting .359 with six home runs and 18 RBI.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/16, 12:36 AM CT
Juan Uribe went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI in the Giants 10-2 blowout win over the Rockies.

Our View: Uribe is hitting north of .370 this month with five homers and 14 RBI. He also has multiple hits in his last three games.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/13, 7:23 PM CT
Juan Uribe just keeps on hitting. The shortstop was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Giants 7-2 win over the Dodgers Sunday.

Our View: Uribe is hitting a tick under .350 with five homers and ten RBI in the month of September. Who said the Giants don't have any thunder in the middle of their lineup? Uribe is hitting like Bonds right now.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 9/12, 12:29 AM CT
Juan Uribe went 1-for-3 with a double in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Dodgers at AT&T Park.

Our View: The Giants only had five hits in the game. Uribe continues to fare well at the plate, as he is hitting .305 over 36 at-bats in September.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 9/7, 7:18 PM CT
Juan Uribe had a strong day at the plate in Monday's 9-4 win over the Padres at AT&T Park, as he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored. He hit a triple and two homers, one off Clayton Richard and the other Edward Mujica.

Our View: Uribe hit four homers over seven games in September, after hitting four in the entire month of August.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/2, 8:56 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 3-for-3 and hit his ninth homer of the season in a 4-0 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.

Our View: The homer was a two-run shot off Rookie of the Year candidate J.A. Happ that came in the sixth-inning. Five of Uribe's nine homers this season have come since August 12th.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/12, 6:22 PM CT
Juan Uribe ended a testy day in San Francisco on Wednesday. The diminutive shortstop hit a towering two run home run in the 10th inning to help the Giants beat the Dodgers 4-2 on a day where two Giants coaches got ejected, the benches emptied and multiple awful calls went against San Francisco.

Our View: Uribe, with five on the season, doesn't hit too many home runs, but when he does they tend to be of the majestic variety. He also doesn't drive in too many runs, steal too many bases or start too many games, but with a .280 average, he's not a bad reserve SS/2B/3B for NL-only formats.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 8/11, 1:56 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Giants' infielder Juan Uribe is suffering from a hamstring injury that kept him out of Monday's game. The injury is not expected to be serious, as Uribe was available to pinch-hit last night.

Our View: Uribe should be fine, and he could play as soon as tonight. He has no fantasy value to speak of, but he has been an offensive catalyst for the Giants as of late.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 8/1, 11:17 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 0-for-1 but notched two RBI in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Phillies at AT&T Park. Both RBI were recorded on a sacrifice fly.

Our View: Uribe was the lone source of scoring for the Giants in each of the last two games, but still does not garner attention.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 8/1, 12:10 AM CT
Juan Uribe went 1-for-2 with a double, and recorded the Giants' lone RBI in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Phillies at AT&T Park.

Our View: The Giants only mustered four hits in the game against opposing hurler Cliff Lee. Uribe snapped a nine-game skid without an RBI, and only has 22 for the season.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/7, 11:33 PM CT
Juan Uribe provided Barry Zito all the offense he needed on Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, as the Giants beat the Marlins 3-0 at home.

Our View: Uribe has been solid at the bottom of the Giants lineup this season, but no longer warrants fantasy consideration.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 6/22, 10:45 PM CT
Juan Uribe missed Monday's game at Oakland while dealing with a strained hamstring, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is having trouble moving laterally, and the Giants are hoping he can avoid a trip to the DL. Uribe is hitting .293, and has provided nice depth to the Giants' infield as he has started one game at second base, six games at shortstop and 23 at third.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 5/22, 7:05 PM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Juan Uribe has activated from the bereavement list. Eugenio Velez was sent back to Triple-A.

Our View: Uribe has been in the Dominican Republic this week. He does not hold much fantasy value as a backup infielder on the Giants.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/21, 1:13 PM CT
Juan Uribe is expected to remain on the bereavement list for tonight's game at San Diego, according to the Mercury News.

Our View: He is dealing with a family matter in the Dominican Republic. Uribe should remain held out of fantasy lineups.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/16, 11:17 PM CT
Juan Uribe has been put on the bereavement list by the San Francisco Giants in order to deal with a personal family matter, according to the San Jose Mercury News. He will be replaced by Kevin Frandsen on the roster.

Our View: It was not specified what the issue is, but in any case we hope nothing but the best for Uribe and his family.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/30, 8:04 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI as the Giants fell to the Rangers 7-5 on Monday.

Our View: After a slow start to the spring, Uribe has picked it up. The Giants have a load of talented young infielders, and it remains to be seen what Uribe's roll will be, if anything.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/10, 7:54 PM CT
Juan Uribe collected two hits in three at-bats and drove in a run Tuesday in the Giants' 6-4 win over Texas.

Our View: While with the White Sox last season, Uribe played in 110 games, his fewest since 2004. With a cluttered San Francisco infield, it's hard to imagine Uribe, who hit just .247 in 2008, landing anything more than a bench role, which would limit his playing time even further.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 2/26, 8:13 PM CT
Shortstop Juan Uribe began his quest for a starting spot on the 25-man roster rather promisingly Thursday, driving in a pair of runs in three trips to the plate in the Giants' 16-7 loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: We don't expect Uribe to beat out free-agent acquisition Edgar Renteria for the starting shortstop spot, but with a strong spring showing he could assert himself as a leading candidate for a utility role.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 1/29, 3:07 PM CT
Juan Uribe has signed a minor league deal with the Giants, according to Sports Illustrated. He is expected to receive $1 million if he makes the club out of spring training.

Our View: Uribe would not hold much fantasy value as a utility infielder, especially with a .296 OBP in 2008. It is uncertain if the Giants will still consider adding Joe Crede.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 1/28, 12:09 PM CT
The Cubs are reportedly interested in Juan Uribe, according to Bruce Levine of ESPN Radio.

Our View: He would be used as a backup infielder and pinch-hitter by Chicago, and his fantasy value would be limited.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/5, 11:09 PM CT
Juan Uribe hit a pair of two-run home runs off of Darren Oliver on Friday. The shots came in the second and third innings.

Our View: It was a memorable night in a forgettable season for Uribe. Prior to Friday he had just five home runs and was hitting just .237.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/25, 10:46 AM CT
The Boston Globe states that the Red Sox are backing off trading for Juan Uribe (in exchange for Alex Cora).

Our View: Boston is said to be pleased with the performance of Jed Lowrie and are also content with having Alex Cora as their backup shortstop until Julio Lugo is ready to return in mid-August. The team is now focusing on acquiring a reliever for the stretch run.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 7/23, 9:41 PM CT
Juan Uribe could be on his way to wearing both Sox jerseys in once season, according to a report on CBS Sportsline. According to Danny Knobler, the White and Red Sox are in "deep conversation" in regards to sending the veteran infielder east.

Our View: The report further speculates that Alex Cora could be headed to the White Sox while this move might also be a precursor for one last push to acquire the Orioles Brian Roberts.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/1, 9:52 AM CT
Juan Uribe is no longer needed in Chicago with the emergence of Alexei Ramirez so it appears that the White Sox will try to move their former starting shortstop, according to the Chicago Sun Times. "The only thing I said is, 'Listen, keep doing what you're doing, and we're going to try to do the best thing for you.' We want him to have the best opportunity," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: Uribe will be a free agent at the end of the year, and given that he is hitting only .215 with three home runs in 135 AB, the Sox likely won't get much in return.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/31, 5:53 PM CT
Juan Uribe has been activated from the DL on Saturday, according to the Miami Herald. In an adjoining move, the team designated outfielder DeWayne Wise for assignment.

Our View: Uribe has recovered from a strained right hamstring. He was only hitting .198 over 116 at-bats this season, and should share second base with Alexei Ramirez.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/27, 11:09 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 0-for-3 Tuesday in his first rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte. The second baseman is recovering from a right hamstring strain and could be activated from the disabled list by Saturday if he's given clearance, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Personally we would just cut Uribe loose and give the second base job to Alexei Ramirez, but strangely, no one in the White Sox front office has asked for our input.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/27, 7:45 PM CT
Chicago infielder Juan Uribe is on track with is rehabilitation, recovering from an injured hamstring, according the Sports Xchange.

Our View: Uribe took batting practice with the club today and was running in the field a bit. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 15th and the team is hopeful he will return on schedule.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 5/23, 4:32 PM CT
The White Sox placed Juan Uribe on the DL Friday due to a strained left hamstring. Uribe was injured in the sixth inning of last Thursday's game and hasn't played since. Dwayne Wise was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to take his place on the roster.

Our View: Uribe is hitting just .198 with three homers on the year, so he's not going to be missed. Alexei Ramirez will continue to fill in at second.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/22, 2:13 PM CT
Juan Uribe is not generating much with his bat, but he garnered praise from Manager Ozzie Guillen for his defensive contributions, according to MLB.com. Guillen said, "Juan Uribe is the best second baseman the White Sox have had in a long time. No matter how bad he gets or how he looks, he helps me, in a coaching way, and defense. I believe in defense. Defense is going to make our pitching staff better, and Uribe does that. But the second I see that he's not playing good for me, he's not going to be in the lineup."

Our View: Uribe is only hitting .198 with three homers and 15 RBI over 38 games, but his roster spot is seemingly safe with the White Sox.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/15, 11:59 PM CT
Juan Uribe injured his leg on Thursday night and had to be removed from the game in the sixth inning, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Uribe tried to beat out a groundball but had to pull up and run "gingerly" according to the report. Alexei Ramirez replaced Uribe and would likely do so moving forward if the injury is serious.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/8, 4:57 PM CT
Juan Uribe hit s home run, his third of the season, though he is still hitting under his weight at .191.

Our View: There still hasn't been a decision on what will happen with Uribe but perhaps today's home run will buy him a few more at-bats.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/6, 9:29 AM CT
There is speculation swirling around the White Sox clubhouse that one or two players could be gone by the time the team takes the field against Minnesota on Tuesday, and one player mentioned was Juan Uribe, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. That does not include reliever Adam Russell, who has been sent back to Triple-A Charlotte.

Our View: Uribe made it through waivers during spring training to be named the starting second baseman, but his luck may be running out. He is only hitting .181 over 83 at-bats, with 16 strikeouts, and could get the boot, possibly as soon as today.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 4/1, 7:10 AM CT
Juan Uribe had a tough day at the plate against Cleveland on Monday as he went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts, while leaving three men on base. He started at 2B, but won't stay there for long if he plays like this.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/25, 4:35 PM CT
Juan Uribe will get first shot at second base, with Alexei Ramirez serving as a backup there and at shortstop and the outfield, according to the Chicago Tribune. It makes sense for the Sox to try and showcase him if they still intend to trade him away.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/23, 1:49 PM CT
Juan Uribe went 3-for-5 with three RBI against the Cubs on Saturday, and raised his spring average to .381. The team recently re-claimed Uribe off of waivers with a plan to trade him, and today's performance will help their cause.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 3/20, 7:02 PM CT
The Chicago Sun Times reports the White Sox placed Juan Uribe on waivers Wednesday, and then pulled him back off waivers on Thursday to work out a trade with at least one team that showed interest. Manager Ozzie Guillen told the media before the game, “get back to me tomorrow,’’ when asked about the ongoing Uribe saga. Until something is worked out and Uribe finds a new home, his fantasy value is nil.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 3/19, 4:03 PM CT
The White Sox have placed Juan Uribe on irrecoverable waivers, a scout informs the Chicago Tribune. Uribe was previously thought to be leading the competition at second base, and the paper speculates that a trade may be coming.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 3/12, 10:18 PM CT
The battle for the starting job at second base remains a bit of a mystery, though most signs seem to point to veteran Juan Uribe, according to MLB.com. Uribe helped matters today, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Manager Ozzie Guillen states he has not made any firm decision. "It's a great competition. Whoever gets the job done will play every day," Guillen said. "I know Uribe doesn't want to be in that position but he has to battle and try to be the everyday second baseman." The primary combatants for the job include Alexei Ramirez and Danny Richar, and while both offer definitive upside, it appears the tone of Guillen's comments is more in the interest of motivating Uribe, and we know he's up to the challenge.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/10, 9:28 AM CT
Juan Uribe is said to have a sizable edge for the starting second base spot, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He only hit .234 in 2007 but a back ailment suffered by Danny Richar has put Uribe at the top of the depth chart with just a few weeks until opening day. Richar is still in intense pain and Alexei Ramirez was a solid candidate at one point but he is having problems locating pitches, namely the breaking ball.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 2/29, 5:52 PM CT
Juan Uribe drove in a pair of runs with a double and also added an infield single Friday. The veteran started the game at second and is trying to win the everyday job there after being Chicago's starting shortstop the last three seasons. Danny Richar, Pablo Ozuna and Alexei Ramirez are his competition for the job.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 2/27, 10:43 AM CT
Juan Uribe might be traded if he doesn't win the starting job at second, according to the Chicago Tribune. The veteran is trying to make the move to the other side of second base after the Sox acquired Orlando Cabrera to play short. Uribe has good pop for a middle infielder, but his woeful average make him a borderline fantasy play - and that's assuming he ends up with a starting job.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 2/21, 8:42 PM CT
Juan Uribe is battling for the starting spot at second base after the team brought in Orlando Cabrera in the off-season, and he is fine with that according to MLB.com. "I'm coming here to help the team in whatever capacity they want. "Yeah, I want to start, but I'm here to work hard at any position they want me to play." Uribe certainly has his faults, he has hit only .234 the past two seasons, but he has also knocked in at least 68 RBI with 16 HR the past four seasons, so if he picks up 400 AB this season he figures to be a solid middle infield option in AL Only leagues if you are in need of power.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 2/14, 10:43 AM CT
Baltimore will scout the Sox's Juan Uribe in case 23-year-old Luis Hernandez falters as Miguel Tejada's replacement at shortstop, according to Chicago Sports. Uribe lost his starting gig to former Angel Orlando Cabrera, who was acquired in a trade for Jon Garland. Cabrera was a solid fantasy contributor in Los Angeles last year batting .301 with 35 doubles, eight home runs, 86 RBIs and a career-high 101 runs scored. Uribe has two straight seasons of 20-plus HRs, but his high strike out total and miserable batting average doesn't excite Roto owners.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 11/20, 10:48 AM CT
With the acquisition of Orlando Cabrera, Juan Uribe will likely be dealt this offseason, according to the Chicago Tribune. Uribe, who signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Sox in early November, batted .234 with 20 home runs in 2007.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 11/7, 1:41 PM CT
The White Sox re-signed Juan Uribe Wednesday to a one-year contract worth $4.5 million, according to the AP. Uribe hit .234 with 20 homers in 150 games with the Pale Hose this season, and he'll once again serve as the club's starting shortstop next year.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/28, 6:39 AM CT
Ozzie Guillen wants Juan Uribe to lose weight for next season and gain some more consistency, the AP reports. "Uribe is not bad, but he drives me crazy," said Guillen. "I'll be honest with you, Uribe can drive everybody crazy. The season is over, you look up, 20 home runs and 70 RBIs, and as a manager, you say 'how the hell can he do that?"' Guillen doesn't think Uribe has reached his potential yet. "I wish Uribe finds out how good he is. How dangerous he can be," said Guillen. Uribe is hitting .231 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/7, 3:41 PM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times speculates the White Sox may be leaning against picking up their 2008 contract option of shortstop Juan Uribe, valued at $5 million. Manager Ozzie Guillen told the paper he is going give Andy Gonzalez a few starts in a row.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 7/19, 8:43 AM CT
The White Sox have a $5 million option on Juan Uribe for next season, but they may not exercise it unless the shortstop shows improvement in his offensive game throughout the rest of the season. "If he wants to come back, he has to give us better results for on-base percentage," manager Ozzie Guillen told the Chicago Tribune. "He has from now until the end of the season to show he can do that." Uribe is currently hitting .218 with a .273 on-base percentage, eight homers, and 32 RBI.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 5/23, 9:36 AM CT
Juan Uribe rejoined the White Sox Tuesday but was not in the starting lineup, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He spent Monday with his ailing mother.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/8, 11:42 PM CT
Juan Uribe is scheduled to return to the lineup on Wednesday after missing four games to tend to his ailing mother, the AP reports. Uribe once again isn't hitting for much of an average this year (.224), though he does have four homers.

Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/5, 7:04 AM CT
Juan Uribe will not be available for the White Sox's weekend series against the Angels, according to the LA Times. He headed back to Chicago yesterday to be with his mother, who is ill. It's not clear when he'll rejoin the Sox, but it won't be Saturday or Sunday.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 3/29, 6:58 AM CT

Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/26, 6:55 AM CT
Juan Uribe was forced to exit yesterday's exhibition game due to a mild irritation of his right calf, according to the Daily Southtown. "Uribe will be fine," manager Ozzie Guillen said. Uribe is day-to-day.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 2/23, 9:22 AM CT
The attorney for Juan Uribe claims his client has been cleared of any involvement in an offseason shooting incident, the Chicago Tribune reports. Uribe was en route to Tucson from Dallas late Thursday night to join the White Sox in full-squad workouts. Uribe's agent/attorney Martin Arburua said he was informed by one of Uribe's Dominican-based attorneys that Uribe would not be required to return to his native country every 15 days or appear for a March 17 hearing.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 2/18, 8:01 AM CT
The White Sox expect Juan Uribe to arrive for spring training on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's scheduled to appear at a hearing earlier in the day in his native Dominican Republic for his alleged involvement in the shooting of two men last October. Assuming everything goes as the White Sox expect, he should join the team later that day.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 2/14, 8:29 AM CT
Juan Uribe has a hearing scheduled next week in a Dominican court for a case involving a shooting in which two men were wounded in October, according to the Chicago Tribune. Uribe's legal status and availability this spring and for the season remains uncertain at this point. He has been working out on his own in the Dominican Republic.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 2/9, 8:44 AM CT
General Manager Ken Williams expects Juan Uribe to arrive on time to Spring Training, and Uribe will still be counted on to be Chicago's starting shortstop, according to the team's official site. Uribe and two other men are facing charges in the Dominican Republic, tied to a shooting where two people were injured. "I expect him to be at Spring Training on time, and if he isn't, then I'll deal with it then," Williams said. "If he's there, great. If he's focused, great. If he's not there or not focused, then Alex Cintron has a heck of a chance to play every day."
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 1/7, 9:28 AM CT
Juan Uribe said yesterday that he intends to report to spring training and that he expects his legal troubles in his native Dominican Republic to be over in a few days, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I'm confident this will clear up soon and will not affect my plans to be on time to the Sox [spring training] camp," Uribe told ESPNdeportes.com. "Monday will be key in the case because the accuser is going to present the alleged witnesses against me. I'm innocent, so I'm sure that nobody can testify they saw me in an event where I wasn't present." He was recently quoted saying that the ongoing court problems could keep him from being available for the upcoming season.
Juan Uribe, 3B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 1/5, 4:09 PM CT
Juan Uribe may choose to sit out the 2007 season after a judge ordered him to make twice-monthly court appearances in a shooting case in his native Dominican Republic, according to the AP. "I am going to decide if I am playing in the major leagues or not this year," Uribe said. "It looks very ugly to be accused of something.
