Billy Traber, P, Boston Red SoxFriday 8/7, 3:28 PM CT
Billy Traber has been designated for assignment by the Red Sox, according to WEEI.com. Traber pitched 3.2 innings with the Sox this season and compiled a 12.27 ERA.

Our View: Traber was recalled by the team yesterday, and he gave up five runs and nine hits in his 3.2 inning performance. His 3.32 ERA in the minors was ok, but he is just an average relief option at best.

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox plan to call up left-hander Billy Traber before Wednesday's contest with the Rays.

Our View: Tuesday's 13-inning loss drained the bullpen and the Sox needed a fresh arm. Traber is 7-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 32 games in Triple-A this season. Josh Reddick was sent down ina corresponding move.

Billy Traber has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: The 29-year old will be invited to spring training. He struggled in 2008 with the Yankees, as he held a 1.80 WHIP over 16.2 innings of relief.

Billy Traber has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton, according to the AP. Ian Kennedy was sent down to Scranton as the adjoining move.

Our View: Traber has been brought in to help aid an overworked Yankees' bullpen. He allowed eight earned runs over 12 innings with a 1.58 WHIP this season, and does not merit fantasy attention.

Billy Traber has been recalled by the Yankees from Triple-A, according to the Associated Press. "We felt we just needed another arm," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

Our View: Traber has not been good for the Yankees in his limited work this year. Do not consider him an option in fantasy leagues.

Billy Traber was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wlkes-Barre. He had a 5.59 ERA in 14 appearances for the Yankees.

Billy Traber, P, Boston Red SoxTuesday 6/17, 5:03 PM CT
The Yankees recalled Billy Traber from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Tuesday. He replaces the injured Chien-Ming Wang on the roster.

Our View: Traber held a 4.50 ERA in 11 games earlier this year with the Yankees and a 4.07 ERA in 22 games with Scranton, though he also had a nifty 25/8 K/BB rate in 24 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He'll fill a middle relief role.
Billy Traber, P, Boston Red SoxSaturday 4/26, 2:45 PM CT
Billy Traber has been sent down to Triple-A Scranton, according to the AP. The team called up Shelley Duncan, and Traber was seen as expendable to free up a roster spot.

Our View: Traber has allowed four earned runs and nine hits over eight innings, with six strikeouts, while working out of the Yankees' pen. He held no fantasy value prior to his demotion, especially with a 1.75 WHIP.
Billy Traber, P, Boston Red SoxSunday 3/16, 9:00 AM CT
The Yankees added Billy Traber to their 40-man roster on Saturday, though it doesn't mean he's landed a spot on the team, according to the New York Daily News. "Not necessarily," manager Joe Girardi said. "But he's an intriguing guy. He's thrown the ball pretty well. But, as I've said, the next two weeks are pretty important for a lot of people." Traber's intriguing, because he hasn't allowed a run in four innings this spring and only four hits to the 16 batters he's faced. Traber's trying to win a spot in the bullpen.
