Randy Choate, P, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 12/12, 1:03 PM CT
The Rays have agreed upon a one-year deal with Randy Choate, according to Newsdays' Ken Davidoff.

Our View: Choate was pretty solid last season, posting a 3.47 ERA in 61 appearances while going 1-0 with five saves and nine holds. He should be a solid component of Tampa Bay's middle relief once again.

Randy Choate has been recalled by the Rays from the minors, according to TSN.

Our View: The 33-year-old vet has not pitched in the majors since 2007, and holds a career 4.64 ERA. He does not merit fantasy consideration as a middle reliever.
Randy Choate, P, Tampa Bay RaysWednesday 2/25, 3:25 PM CT
Randy Choate surrendered four earned runs over one inning of work in today's 7-0 loss to the Reds. He allowed five hits, and most of the damage came of a Jerry Hairston grand slam.

Our View: The 33-year-old is merely organizational depth for the Rays, and will be hard-pressed to make the opening day roster, especially after today's performance.

Randy Choate has been activated from the DL and outrighted to Triple-A Nashville, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: He broke a finger on his pitching hand in spring training. He won't likely hold any fantasy value for the remainder of the season.

Randy Choate has a broken left ring finger, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He sustained the injury last week when he banged his hand against the helmet of Matt LaPorta during rundown drills, and he will be re-evaluated on April 1. The below average reliever will be hard-pressed to make the final 40-man roster.

The Brewers signed Randy Choate to a one-year contract on Wednesday, according to the AP. Choate spent most of the 2007 season in Triple-A Tucson, holding a 2.98 ERA in 55 relief appearances. He's nothing but a below-average middle reliever with no fantasy value.
